Best basketball community in Oregon in my opinion. The managers here are awesome, special shout out to Brody, Austin, Jerry and Nick. Their friendly vibes instantly put everyone at ease, creating a welcoming environment. They lead by example, always bringing energy and professionalism that elevates the entire gym. Thanks to them, every visit feels like joining a community, not just a gym.

This review is for Coach Erica at Bay Club Aqua Squads swim lessons. We love her! Our son has been swimming in lessons with her for the past 3 years (he’s 5 now) and has come so far in confidence and skills. He can swim several different strokes independently, has learned water and boat safety, and was able to pass the swim test last summer to be more independent in the pool. We’ve had the opportunity to try several of Erica’s swim meets, which were fun and positive experiences. Erica and Emma are very supportive and positive while providing a structured environment for kids to learn. We highly recommend!

This is only for Bay Club Aqua Squads: Coach Erica and Coach Emma are amazing, wonderful, skilled, caring and absolutely the best coaches! My son has been in their classes for over 2.5 years now so I have had the pleasure to watch them truly coach and support the kids. I used to swim competitively and having a coach that can finesse the art of pushing a little more and meeting a swimmer where they are at is not a simple task, especially with children. I have recommended Erica and Emma to everyone and anyone I know. You guys truly are special and we appreciate you both so much! ❤️

I've been a member of this gym since it was Sports Nation, and watching it evolve into Bay Club has been an incredible experience. The facilities are top-notch, and the staff has always been welcoming and supportive. The equipment is always in great shape, and there’s never a shortage of variety in classes and fitness options. What I love most is the overall atmosphere—it’s a place that makes you feel motivated and comfortable at the same time. The sense of community here is unlike any other gym I've been to. Whether you're just starting your fitness journey or you're a seasoned athlete, Bay Club is the place to be!

There was another price hike again with this new year which was the last straw for me.

The cost for a family of four/five has significantly increased. We went from having our whole family at the club to removing our kids and just us adults having to use it and for just two adults it’s around $338 per month plus the $25 fee to adding members, etc. and the additional ~$15 credit card surcharge. That’s a hefty amount per year.

Other issues make the price hike feel unjustified:
• They pass along credit card processing fees to customers.
• The locker rooms feel dated, given the premium pricing.

There are some positives: the towel service is convenient and classes are nice. The climbing gym is a great plus. But overall like others have said, the experience no longer justifies the cost.

I will be joining another gym with similar amenities and cost is way more affordable which will allow me to save thousands a year.

Shrinkflation - Not Worth the Price for the Experience

This has been a long time coming but the price hike again this year, was the straw that broke the camels back.
I’ve been a member since 2019 but decided to cancel for 2025. The primary reason? The cost for a family of four has increased by $50/mo, jumping from $435 to $485 plus the ~$15 credit card surcharge. So thats $5820/year, up from $5220! To make matters worse, Bay Club doesnt give their members the courtesy of a 30 days notice, email came out mid-Dec for January price hike. When I called to cancel, I was told I needed to give a full 30 days’ notice, so great… I’m here through January —this policy felt especially frustrating given the lack of transparency.

Childcare is the standout feature of this facility, but it now costs $70 per child. Even then, securing a preferred time slot on weekends is nearly impossible unless you plan well in advance. For example, we’ve often been stuck with less desirable time slots, like 10–10:30 a.m., due to capacity limits.

Other issues make the price hike feel unjustified:
• They pass along credit card processing fees to customers.
• Lockers frequently have dead batteries, and soap dispensers are often empty or are also out of batteries, which is unhygienic and unacceptable.
• The sauna is poorly managed, with inconsiderate members lying down, making it hard to find a spot. Despite filing multiple complaints, nothing has been addressed.
• Policies like “no bags on the gym floor” and dress codes are unenforced.
• The locker rooms feel dated, given the premium pricing.
• Tripods in workout areas are becoming disruptive.
• The pool is overcrowded, and parking during classes is a nightmare. Additionally, valet parking, which was available pre-COVID, has never been reinstated.

So good for them for having max capacity at these prices.

This feels like a textbook example of “shrinkflation.”

That said, there are some positives: the towel service is convenient, the CrossFit area is great when it isn’t packed, and there are plenty of treadmills available. But overall, the experience no longer justifies the cost.

So I guess I’ll look at the bright side and join a smaller, local Lake Oswego gym, with similar amenities and save thousands a year.

Echoing another reviewer from a John one year ago year Rates have increased again unreasonably. We are now up 60% in the last 4 years. Thats crazy!

Last year, when we got a similar 12% rate increase, I was assured there would be no mid-year increase. There was not one but here is another 12% increase is upon us with 2 weeks' notice. Thank you for not increasing 25% in one year. So kind and generous.

Folks should know that members have access to cool amenities (nobody needs or wants) like water jet massage chairs. Maybe the kids like the flavored water dispenser.

This is Oregon but the gym feels more and more California to me. What’s next, oxygen bars?

So, I keep putting quitting off, but we are definitely signing up for the LO rec center, which opens in March, and we are very likely to end our 23-year run with Clubsport/Bay club shortly thereafter or maybe look at other alternatives.

I can’t blame the corporate owners, who are on a high-end gym buying spree, if the market tolerates this. More power to the profiteers. I believe in the market and market feedback. I think this will be the last year they can get away with this in the LO market anyway. This has always been a family gym and not a status symbol…even if you can afford it. Save that for the Mac.

**FOLLOW-UP** 12/19/24
"Your business is important to us...".
What more is there to say other than to correct the prior comments and note that the rate increases sum 62%. I am aware that these changes are not under local management discretion.

Used to be an excellent micro-version of better Bay Clubs in California, now this place is okay if you’re single and well-heeled, but of limited value to a family. Their business practices are questionable lately, too, with unannounced and substantial rate hikes. During the pandemic, this gym offered to put peoples accounts on hold or if people were feeling generous, they could pay half of their club dues while the club was not being used. Many of us chose to pay that half because we liked the club. On returning to the club they've gotten rid of any discounts, increase the prices several times, and this January decided to make a 20% unannounced across-the-board membership fee increase. No warning, not even an email. See Jon Small's review for a cost increase breakdown. Now for a family of four it's around $450 for a club with no tennis courts, with a kids club that has half the hours it used to (so one of its main selling points that it has free babysitting for a couple of hours really isn't that useful after all), the classes have gone down in quality, the personal training rates are high, and the gift shop has moved on from selling normal brands like Nike/Adidas to selling brands that are triple the cost and half the quality. On top of that, you still have to pay handsomely for anything extra you do in the club, yet you pay for it like it's a country club.

They’ve also made odd changes like getting rid of an excellent set up where you could look at your children in the kids club on several monitors. It was just grainy enough to maintain privacy while still allowing a broad overview of what was happening in that club with the children. Now they have no monitors and it’s unclear what’s going on in there. I know it was useful to me as a few times I saw my daughter in there just kind of sitting by herself, not really engaged or playing, which is not their responsibility, but it allowed me to at least understand what was happening to her in there. See other reviewers take on this as well. This seems to be consistent with other trends of limiting features, something also seen in how limited the outside pool hours are now. That used to be open largely through the year. I can’t tell if it’s laziness, they want to limit membership, or just want to test how little they can give. It’s a trend of less for more - shrinkflation at the gym.

One thing is clear: this gym paints itself as family friendly, but has become more and more family unfriendly. Maybe that’s what they want, because it only makes sense anymore if you are a single person paying their single rate of nearly $200 per month, you don’t much care about the extras, and just kind of like towels, free coffee, and the click-clack of pickleball on your basketball court. Very San Francisco (and unlike the CA clubs, the Bay Club here doesn’t even have tennis courts).

Overall, this is just continuing an overall trend of giving less and charging more. What does it matter if there’s free coffee if you’re chipping away at every other nice thing there was about this place. Do yourself a favor and find a country club, a tennis club, or any other kind of club. See if you're not getting more for the money at one of those. In the face of these incredible unannounced fee increases in January, their management team was conveniently out of town for meetings, so there was no one to talk to and after trying to I was directed to write to somebody on the app. When asked if there would be any more surprises, It was suggested that they expect a two month cancellation despite no evidence of any communication about these price increases. The staff are reasonable people, but the policies and shrinkflation are not. This used to be a great club, now it's another wolf in sheep's clothing classic gym-based extortionary money grab. Doesn’t it make you feel good to walk into a place where you don’t know what’s going to be canceled next? Sure beats feeling like things are getting better, right? Avoid this establishment and their California-based private equity ownership and management team.

I've been a member of this gym for 5 years, and my husband for over a dacade. Unfortunately my experience has steadily declined in the past 2 years. I've voiced my concerns and have been brushed off and I feel mislead on more than one account. For instance the Kids World used to have a monitor with a blurry live stream of the kids. It was blurry enough to keep privicy, I could only tell my kids from what they were wearing. When the live monitors stopped and hadn't come back I asked about it, stressing my concerns for accountabilty and safety (you see the news about daycares mistreating kids) Blair got back to me and said it was no longer possible to hook the cameras up to the TV. Give me $100 and 25 minutes at BestBuy and I could do it. We pay nearly $500/month and they can't afford at tops a few hundred to keep hundreds of kids safer. We were also told that 3 hour child care was just a perk with Covid and they were "just returning to the 2 it had always been" thinking we wouldn't know better, but having family with older kids who were members we did. For the past 2 years our membership has almost doubled and we get MUCH less. We just got an update last night that in January they're scaling down amenities again.

Despite paying more and more, I'm receiving less value. They're promising a lot of updates the past 2 years but have only seen downgrades. They advertise themselves as family friendly but have been quite the opposite. It's not only frustrating and disappointing but makes it clear they'll say whatever to get a member but have nothing to back it up. I used to enjoy coming here, but now I'm considering canceling my membership and finding a gym that actually cares about its members. I cannot recommend this gym in its current state.

Lastly we love Mckenzie and Maria in Kids World. Blair and Matt are also amazing employees Club Sport is lucky to have. I really feel all of this comes corporate not caring about its members and being greedy. Corporate is trying to make this feel more like a luxury exclusive club (Pro Club) but it's not happening. At the price they charge now ammenities should have never gone down with prices increasing. They're bankrolling future upgrades (that there is not even space for) on current members at the worst gym in the company. I've read lots of other reviews echoing my disappointments. Everyday I talk with fellow members who are feeling the club is no longer worth it. Many have left completely.

Update - I find it amusing that Blair responds when I have voiced my issues many times when I was a member. lol 😂

This review is long over rated. My comments echo what many others have said. My family joined in the summer of 2022 because we wanted an outdoor pool and got tired of the long lines at the Wilson Pool in SW Portland. My kiddo loved being able to swim everyday and we were quickly able to get into private lessons with Sarah who was AMAZING!! Quickly we had issues with my 2 year old getting knocked over all the time but the kids in summer camp who really didn’t need to be playing in the very shallow water where little kids were playing. The staff never adequately supervised the kids. Management was aware and it never got any better so we stopped coming during the day and waited till the later afternoon when the summer camp kids weren’t in the pool. Bay Club used to have all sorts of fun family programs. By 2023 and now 2024 it seemed like less and less. Like others have said rates continue to go
Up but we weren’t getting any additional amenities for the money. For the amount of money they charge there should be pickleball and tennis courts and a bigger pool. A big draw to me was having my physical therapist in the same building as bay club and so I could utilize the child care.. but then it became harder and harder to get child care and then Bay Club didn’t renew the lease of the physical therapist but yet they have done NOTHING with that space… management says they care, they don’t. When my daughter’s amazing swim teacher left so did we. It’s a shame that Bay Club can’t get it together. We drive from LO to Beaverton for Villa and absolutely LOVE It!! It is with the drive!! Nicer outdoor and inside pool and a kids club with an outdoor playground and additional outdoor amenities for kids plus no reservations required and they are never full!!! It is worth the 25 minute drive. Leaving Bay Club was the best decision and I don’t regret it one bit!!

I am not a member here and have never been here to workout. I helped at a grad night party here and it was a great space for it! We had approx 340 students, and there was plenty of space for them and approx 50-60 adult volunteers. We had another company come in with inflatable jousting, ax throwing, hungry hippo, and more. They set up on two of the courts and we had the other two for basketball and volleyball. We set up casino games in front of the courts. We had prize wheels, cash cubes, and other activities in the main hall and around Xpress Cafe.

Pros:
- Good workout classes: There is a wide range of classes and teaching styles.

- Adequate machinery: I'm always able to use a machine when I want to without much of a wait, if any.

- Good location for me

Cons:
- Frequent and excessive price hikes alongside reduction in services: I'm seeing a lot of reviews with a similar sentiment that I echo, but I would like to specifically call out their recent guest pass policy update. Originally when you signed up in a shared membership each person within that membership got 2 guest passes a quarter, so if you had a full 6 person membership your group got 12 passes per quarter. Recently they changed the policy so that now only the primary member gets 2 guest passes per quarter, which nets out to less than one guest pass per member. This would be an acceptable policy if the non-primary member costs were drastically cheaper than the primary member costs, but they've raised the price for all memberships while stripping away benefits and this is only one example.

- Outdated and dirty locker rooms: The locker rooms are extremely outdated, specifically the shower/spa areas. Unsure why it seems like there is not plan to update when they've been raking in our money with all of the rate increases. There is also always hair on the walls or in the drains and I've seen blood in the shower area floors twice recently. The floors they have in the locker area are also some weird mesh that probably dries quickly, but seems like a magnet for hair and other gross small dirt.

- Unknowledgeable front desk staff: I went to the front desk around 7pm to try to change my phone number attached to my account and she said she couldn't do it and I would have to come back during the day. I feel like a simple request like that should be able to be done by any front desk staff? Otherwise why are they even standing there?

My family and I have been members of the club for only two years and within the last two years prices have gone up and quality to members have gone down. We started paying $260/month march 2022 for a family of four and as of today Jan 2024 pay $435/month. My biggest dissatisfaction as of the last year is that they no longer have the tv monitor where you can check the childcare cameras. This was a huge reason for why we chose to come here to begin with (childcare). Not being able to check on my child when I want to is disappointing to say the least. We use to be members of VillaSport prior to moving and I called them today to check current rates and ask about the child cameras and as of today they still have two very large TV’s that display cameras in all kids rooms both upstairs in the weight area and downstairs. VillaSport current rates are $284/month for a family of four. Why they decided to no longer display the childcare cameras is unsettling. Second complaint is summer camp. We signed up for one week of summer camp in 2022 which my son 5 at the time really enjoyed because he got to use the outdoor pool however last year summer 2023 (6 years old) $350/week he did not get to use the outdoor pool instead they did kitty pool inflatables in the parking lot for them to use. Had I known that would have been the case I would have not signed up for it. Last complaint would be outdated facilty for the price. The women’s restroom needs some love. The stalls are cracked taped together on the bottom as pictured barely holding on. My family will continue to come here not because we feel like we have much of a choice but mostly because it’s conveniently located.

I love this gym. The facilities and experience are as close to perfect as can get. The prices have gone up a tremendous amount since I joined, with an increase it seems 2 x a year since the pandemic. They are not small increases. Cost for one person is currently 200/ month. Every time I see the price increase happening again I research the other gyms in the area and find either class based gyms with hours that don’t work for me, or a larger dirty gym with broken equipment. Stafford looks promising but no indoor pool, so I stay. It would be perfect if they could manage to charge a lot less and have a saline pool. Chlorine is pretty irritating

Our family of four (2 adults 2 kids) have been members of the Bay Club for ~5 years. During this time we have not changed anything about our membership. Since joining our dues have risen 96.7% from March 2019 to today. It's shocking. Here's our billing history snapshot.

Mar 2019 - $215 a month.
Jan 2020 - $252.50 a month...17.5% increase.
Jan 2021 - $252.50 a month.
Jan 2022 - $277.50 a month....10% increase.
Jan 2023 - $302.50 a month...9% increase.
Jun 2023 - $362.50 a month...19.8% increase.
Jan 2024 - $423 a month...16.7% increase

This is absolutely ridiculous. We know the cost to do business is rising, however, this is insane. A reasonable price increase is totally understandable. Several families we know have the same concerns and one has already found a different gym.

With a reasonable price increase we would likely be members for years to come and would encourage others to do the same.

We've spoken briefly with someone from Bay Club about this and they have put in our 30 day cancellation.

So disappointing

This club gives us everyone we need, so we really don't have many complaints or suggestions. However, we would love to see more healthier food options available. I will no longer advocate the use of these specific facilities because of the negative experiences that I have had, including rude patrons, inaccessible facilities, increased theft, poor security, and high membership dues. These factors have made it difficult for me to have a positive gym experience and have led me to purchase exercise equipment for my own personal use at home.

poorly trained staff in the front desk who have little to no customer service skills or hospitality training. 2) Lack of above mentioned amenities even though my dues did not go down. 3) Lack of any "adult" employees available to ensure a great experience you would expect from spending upwards of $250-300 per Month for

The locker rooms and pools are always dirty.

I would absolutely avoid this place. The quality is fairly nice, but good luck getting the time and space to treat yourself to the workout you deserve. It's just not feasible with the high volume of traffic.

Even inside you get the run around. They send you back to email and phone which you don't get any answers, no one returns your call if you leave messages. All they do is to keep charging

I've been a member over two years and have watched this place decline over that time. They used to have the outdoor pool and hot tub open during winter, this past season they drained and closed it. They used to offer 3 hours of child care per day, then they dropped it to 2. Now they just sent out an email saying they are jacking the rates up $15/person/month. For my family of 5 that's an extra $1000 a year for less services than we previously had. The facilities are nice, but it is no longer the value it used to be.

Half the time when trying to enter the Bay Club, their app has dropped me and I am told to re-log in. While I’m doing that everyone else entering is easily scanning their cell phone and quickly walking on by. I ask the nice, friendly people at the desk what’s going on? “Are they trying to tell me that I’m not Bay Club Material”. It sure feels like that’s the message. The desk staff is always helpful and cordial, but there’s some major incompetence elsewhere in the organization that even the goodwill of the desk staff won’t compensate for. It gets tiresome.

Terrible customer service. Routinely just ignored requests and emails. The facilities are top notch, they need new management to help improve customer service. They tried to bait and switch me on a membership type and had I was only able to fix the situation after multiple emails (with no response) and a phone call that they again attempted to switch my membership and make me pay more to do so. It really is too bad their management is so poor, this could be an amazing club.

Bay Club is not nearly as well run or together as it was when it was Club Sport. Pretty clearly the new management is just not invested in ensuring quality, but happy to keep charging rates like Equinox. The poor high schoolers working the cafe get flak from customers for not being able to make coffee drinks (espresso, latte, etc) but it turns out they never got trained on how to use the machine. Today I saw half a dozen cardio machines out of order. The sanitary wipe stations have the sanitary wipes in their plastic buckets on top of the sleek dispenser, I guess because no one can be bothered to open the dispenser and refill it? Paper towel dispensers in the locker rooms empty before 12 pm. If you don’t need a pool, I really don’t see what this place has above 24.

We have been going to Bayclub for about a year now. The classes are great, and so is the pool but it seems like the Precor treadmills are always broken and out commission. The Precor treadmills always have at least 3 treadmills that are consistently not working and theres been issues with the elipiticals as well. The memberships are expensive so I'm not sure why they can't hire a person to come in and fix the equipment. Everytime I report a broken machine they assure me that they are on it but the guy who does the maintenance isn't there. Spoiler alert, he's never there. It's just upsetting because I could pay $25 a month and go somewhere else but we're supposedly paying for the quality, but it's severely lacking unfortunately. I am editing to add that there are constantly children 13 and under playing on thr machines
I am reminded because it's happening right now. ON THE WEIGHT MACHINES.

Teacher Erica for swimming is the best ever!!! She is 100 percent patient, kind, and an expert in her field. Our daughter has excelled tremendously and found a love of swimming, all thanks to Teacher Erica. She puts a lot of thought into making her lessons fun and interactive and also incorporates fun swim toys. My husband also has had the benefit of learning swim instruction from Erica. She was able to fine tune all of his strokes and help him achieve all of his swimming goals. Ten thumbs up for our favorite swim Coach, Teacher Erica!!!

I love their workout facilities and variety selection of group exercise. On top of that, Bay Club Portland has the best swim instructors. My son has been with Coach Erica for over a year. In the beginning he had basic skills for some strokes and kicks. After a few months with Coach Erica, he is able to do all the kicks and strokes, and after a year he is now in competitive swim team!! Coach Erica knows how to motivate kids, and passionate about teaching swimming to kids. I highly recommend Bay Club for the parents who are looking for a good swim instructor for their kids.

This review is for Coach Erica, our swim coach at the Bay Club. My two kids have been taking private lessons with Erica for almost a year. Prior to lessons, our son really wasn't able to swim. He had started lessons prior to covid, but then he lost those skills over the two years away from swimming. He is now a confident swimmer and can swim both freestyle and backstroke. He is now starting pre-swim team and is loving the new challenge (age 6)! My daughter was already confident in the water, but she had also lost most of her stroke skills during covid. She is now able to swim all four strokes and is starting swim team with Erica before transitioning to a full swim team (age 9).

Erica is a great coach. She is firm but also very fun, ending each session with fun water play. She really emphasizes the details of each stroke so that the kids learn them right from the start. If a certain drill isn't working, she will try something else. I am a swimmer myself, so I am definitely watching closely to see how they are learning. I have been very impressed. I wish I had Erica when I learned to swim too!

It is such a pleasure to be able to go to water events and know that my kids are safe and having a blast, and we don't have to be in the water every second with them!

We love our swim lessons with teacher Erica! My kids started swimming with her at just a few months old. She is an amazing swim instructor. All three of our kids are learning swimming with her (currently age 3-5). When my parents came to visit, they were in awe how advanced the kids are for their age. I personally love the water safety she practices and teaches as well. My kids absolutely adore Erica. She is fun, engaging and great with children. Erica is an excellent instructor and I like that she is easy to communicate with. She pushes the kids just to the point where they keep learning, but not too much that they loose the fun at it. My kids love the water, gained a lot confidence in it and learned a variety of skills. A neat bonus of taking swim lessons at Bay Club Portland is that they get to swim in the outdoor pool at times as well in the summer.
During Covid it was very difficult to get into swim lessons. We tried it all: Farber, Children of the Sea, Emler, and now for the past year with teacher Erica again and Bay Club. While we really liked one of the other swim schools (and one was an absolute waste of time and money), teacher Erica doesn't compare at all to them. The kids get so much out of her lessons! It would have taken years with the other swim schools.

Our daughters (4, 7) have been taking swim lessons at the Bay Club with Erica Hafen for almost a year. Their comfort level, skills, and enthusiasm for swimming have grown so much. We were feeling behind with the pause in swimming lessons during the pandemic, but with Erica's help, it has taken no time for them to catch right up. We've recently transitioned from private to group "swim team" lessons and this has been great. We love Coach Erica! She is an excellent teacher and very passionate about swimming.

This review is for Coach Erica who is my children’s swim instructor at the Bay Club. My son (4yo) has been taking lessons with Erica for a little over a year and my daughter (18mo) has taken a few mommy and me sessions throughout the year as well. Coach Erica has been amazing with both of them and has made our experience in the pool so wonderful as a family.

Speaking mostly about my son, he came to Erica as a kid who would fight getting his head wet and now he’s doing her pre-swim team program. We’ve gone from very little comfort in the water to a high level of comfort over a short time. Erica knows how to get the most out of her students with a myriad of coaching techniques and the right balance of focus and fun in the lesson. She definitely has a work hard, play hard mentality about her lesson’s and she takes the fun part just as seriously as the work!

She’s been a pleasure to work with. She has excellent and quick communication and tries to help make it a great experience for the whole family. We love Coach Erica!

The Bay club presents a slightly less-than experience when compared to Club Sport (the previous owners), but this is still an incredible facility that offers anything you could want. Frequent workout classes, a “CrossFit“-like area, and indoor and outdoor pool, saunas, hot tubs, lots of cardio equipment, a café, smoothies, and one of the best weightlifting gyms in the greater Portland area. Downside - it is decently expensive, especially for a grad student, which is why I have since left for 24 hour fitness.

I have been a member of Bay Club for well over 10 years. I remember when the facility was originally a Costco, then Sports Nation, then Clubsport and more recently Bay Club.

As a premier fitness facility it caters to those looking for a gym that is more lifestyle than just a workout facility. It includes a rock climbing wall, restaurant, indoor/outdoor pool, racquet ball and basketball courts. It is extremely kid friendly and I would say most of the ppl that I know who go here are families with children or who are retired. It is not a meat market by any means.

However with Covid, Bay Club has had to revamp the gym to fit within CDC guidelines. Being curious by nature I went on their first day reopening.

The gym has a new online scheduler where ppl have to sign up in advance for their workout time. You are limited to a 1.5hr workout session. This helps with control the number of ppl in the facility. Check in was a breeze with the App and they cordially checked my temp and asked me the typical fever/cough/chill questionnaire.

Locker rooms didn't have most of the normal amenities. No showers, sauna or sitting in the lounge area in the men's locker room. Pretty much you can only use the toilet and wash your hands in the locker room. They had a designated person there cleaning everything I potentially touched too.

There is social distancing tape everywhere to help with flow of traffic. Then there are workout areas that you can pick to workout in. Once you pick an area they request you stay in your designated zone. You can move about into a different zone but it is best to stay in one area. I was doing cardio so I chose an area with a bike and light weights all to myself.

Everyone there was extremely helpful. All employees wore PPE and were constantly cleaning equipment. It is recommended guests wear masks but it is not required.

There were stations for patrons to sanitize their hands but no cleaner for them to use on equipment. I felt the zone I chose was extremely clean and when I left I let one of the employees know and he quickly went to spray it all down.

Overall, I am impressed with how Bay Club has responded to the Covid situation and new guidelines. The club has always been clean, one of the reasons I enjoyed going here, but they have taken this to a new level for our safety. I appreciate that.

Summary: Overpriced; terrible childcare; arrogant/apathetic management. If you are thinking of joining the Bay Club, I would suggest looking at all other gyms and options even if they are less convenient and especially if you have young kids. We were excited when we initially joined, but our experience with their childcare was shockingly horrible. Too often we would watch our young daughter on their video monitors showing that she was visibly distressed, and the employees would just walk by her, showing zero concern unless she had been crying. We had a far, far better experience with the YMCA and their childcare team members. When I talked to certain members of their management team to voice our concerns, they were defensive and completely unapologetic. Even though I gave them my wife's phone number for them to call her and get the complete details of our concerns, they said they would but never did. The arrogance of Bay Club's management, childcare, and customer relations is horrible. I could go on and on, but frankly, I've wasted way too much time and tons of money with them already.

I rarely make it into the Bay club due to commute the past year. The cost is just too high to visit the facility just once a month. Unfortunately, Bay Club does not offer any flexibility for working out just 1-2 times per month. After cancelling my membership after over 4 years, it took a few weeks for Bay Club to get back to me that my cancellation request has to be done through an online form. Ugh. After doing so I received notification I'd be charged a partial monthly bill. A month later they charged my account a full rate of $150. Now the club replies I have to cancel a month ahead of time in order to prevent being billed another month ahead of time, this makes no sense. So I would have had to cancel in December in order to not be charged for February... On top of that they increased my monthly membership over the past few months without notification by email or mail. Since canceling, do the math, $300 for one workout. That is quite a rip by this club.

Bay Club I just may have stayed if you at least attempted to work out a way to retain a longtime member... but not at $150 a month. I don't know how your club can continue going like this. Times are changing, people are busy, commutes are bad, and costs are increasing. You need to offer an annual membership and charge a per visit fee. I just may have stayed.

If it wasn't for such a nice facility I would be leaving a one star rating.

The issue with Bay Club is a simple one. You sign up, and it's expensive. With that expense comes higher quality of individuals attending. However, they then nickel and dime for certain pro classes, rock climbing, summer camps, etc. It seems asinine to spend $220 per month for two people and then spend $200 for a 6 week group bodybuilding class or $40 to learn how to belay or rent equipment. If you do all the activities that seem interesting you can soar above $500/month easily for two people. Nickel and diming on top of the exorbitantly high monthly fee makes no sense and can only be explained by dropping numbers of memberships forcing price hikes.

We loved this place when it was Club Sport, but now that its Bay Club, we hate it. They have increased our membership fees an absurd amount to match family membership rates in California. News flash, this is Portland and I won't be paying over $300 a month to go here. Especially when we have other options for better prices and that come with better amenities, better service, and better facilities. Service has gone down. The restaurant is poorly managed and you're often waiting for someone to take your order or get your check up to 25 minutes. Plenty of other options nearby that we will be looking into. Even the price of a smoothie is out of control.

I would avoid this place and look at other clubs.

The facility looks nice. They clean it and work on it even while you are working out - you do not matter - the facility does. Organization is another matter. If you join do yourself a favor and read the membership guidelines. Just an example if you need any change you have to tell them a calendar month in advance so if you request a change January 2nd it will be effective March 1st. If they need to make a change they do not even have to notify you. I've been with the ClubSport I think since 2012 but after bay club bought it I am leaving. It was a good gym close to home while it lasted. No more.

We loved this place when it was Club Sport, but unfortunately it's gone downhill since Bay Club took over. Rates were increased without notice, and will be increased again not even a year later. The EDGE facility has become overrun with small kids "supervised" (very, very loosely) by their parents, literally running around between people lifting, throwing chalk everywhere, messing with weights, while staff does nothing (the rules state that children under 11 need to be with a trainer). Equipment is frequently broken or missing. It's disappointing, as the location is so convenient- but the amenities no longer justify the sky-high rates.

Was a five star facility when it was Club Sport, but BayClub is horrible. They have raised prices without notification, then apologized in an email almost two months later. They put their logo on basketball floors and stunk up the gym for a week. The smell was so bad you couldn’t work out. They “refinished” the showers, hot tub and steam room but it still looks nasty and dated. Prices have gone up on everything at the cafe but changed the protein powders to a cheap, poor quality product that makes smoothies taste like chalk. Will be cancelling my membership soon.

So disappointed in the direction that this gym has taken since "The Bay Club" has taken over. When the gym was still owned "Club Sport" once you got over the price it was an amazing place. Whenever you had a question you could call the activities desk. They would help you sign up for swim lessons or give you info. My family loved to spend time at the kid friendly pool. You were allowed to bring your own snacks to for your kids to eat while were were enjoying the nice pool

This all changed when the The Bay Club took ownership of the club. They raised the price of the membership 8% off the start. The only improvement that I have seen to justify that price increase was refinishing the basketball courts. I believe they did this to re-brand them not because they were in ill repair. They eliminated the activities desk. Now when you have literally any question you are sent to call center. Once you are done waiting on hold you get a person who also probably doesn't have the answer to your question. It is so frustrating. It took multiple calls and emails to figure out if my account had been charged for a swim lesson... Most recently (and most frustratingly) they just changed the food policy at the pool. You are no longer allowed to bring your own snacks to the pool. All food must be purchased from the poolside grill.

In conclusion this was once one of my favorite places to be in the summer. We would catch a workout and then head to the pool with the kids... Now it just is not worth the money in my opinion. They have taken a place that was already hard for a middle class family to justify and made it only for the wealthy. We are done with our membership and could not be happier about that decision. I hope this feedback helps.

This is all based on their Operations Management. The only place around town where you will be illegally parked on. They say just because they are on private property that they can illegally park cars. I'm her to inform people that what they are doing is no legal. Nothing is stated in ORS 811.560 where just because you are on private property you are exempted from following ORS 811.550 place where stopping, standing, and parking are prohibited. In fact they within 50 ft. of a railway, have active crosswalks, and have stop lines to control traffic they must follow this law. They say they can't park customers on the side street, which they can, there are no posted signs that says you can't and the street wide enough. I see the athletes next door park on the street all the time. I also took the liberty of reading both Tigard's and Tualatin's Municipal codes regarding illegal parking on private property and once again just because they are on private property doesn't exempt them from the law. If you find any other information, whether right or wrong, please correct me or add to this. From what I was able to find between local and state municipal codes I didn't see an exemption for illegally parking on private property.

I have been an off and on member of ClubSport since 2006 . The facility and all its amenitities are fabulous. The staff are fabulous, hard working, and very attentive. In general I love ClubSport. However, my family and I just had a horrible experience which has left me and my family traumatized.

My mother, sister, and I were HARRASSED by another member in the childrens locker room. My family and I were speaking to a Club Sport staff, in Spanish, when another member- very loudly- says YOU SPEAK ENGLISH HERE. I have never experienced so much RACISM and DISCRIMINATION. This experience has completely left my young sister in shock and fear. I complained to ClubSport staff. I expect that the member is not allowed to come back to ClubSport and as I don't feel safe, welcome, or at ease knowing this individual could harrass me or my family again. I also hope that Clubsport realizes that a simple "sincere apology" will not be enough.

Was a member and never will be again until the staff treats kids with respect. Nice facility but horrible staff. Not a fan of this club.

The staff treats differently abled population poorly. The manager yelled at an autistic child repeatedly to get out of the hot tub as if yelling at an autist would speed up the process. Instead of yelling, giving him an extra time to process what is asked of him would have been a lot more efficient. The staff training on how to treat people with respect is desperately needed at this facility.

This is a very well equipped facility however it has a real overcrowding and overuse issue. In particular the parking is horrible. I went for an event today which is probably an extra drain on the parking but it was still horrible. They have valet service but it ended as the event began. Also the parking winds around the building so you waste a lot of time just looking for spots and carefully inching around other cars that are waiting for a spot in a narrow aisle. I am not a member but have tried the club in years past. The parking issue is not around the clock but it does seem to be persistent. They also seem to have issues with overuse of the pools at times.

I signed my kids up for the All-Star Basketball Spring Break Camp through Club Sport in Tualatin. The cost was $200.00 per child for 2 days. However, it seemed worth it because the advertisement claimed that the campers would get to meet, take pictures with, and get autographs from Lillard, McCollum, and other surprise guests. Lillard even posted it to his Instagram account so I bit the bullet, told myself it was legit, and enrolled my 2 older daughters. The guy overseeing the camp, PJ, said there were 85 kids at the camp. With 85 campers paying $200.00 to attend, the camp brought in around $17,000.00 in 2 days.

The camp ended up being ran by family members of Lillard. I know this because his adult family members repeatedly told the campers they were related to him. Lillard’s name was plastered on everything from their shirts to shoes. The coaches were young, basic, no real expertise in working with children, sat around on their phones, and didn’t correct campers calling names or getting too rough. Coaches were even playing Dames rap music while dancing around and texting on their phones. All while telling the campers to take basketball seriously.

The camp informed us on the second day that Lillard would not be showing up. There was no apology. The attitude was nonchalant like they didn’t just take hundreds of dollars from us. The conversation was the camp director putting her hands on my shoulders, giving me puppy dog eyes, cocking her head and saying “No Lillard. You know baby. CJ will be here at 12:30 though.”

Not sure why we were told any time at all because CJ did not show til around 2:00. Evan Turner showed up first. The kids got either an autograph OR a photo with ET; unless you were Dame’s family - then you got both! The campers were rushed through the line, ET barely smiled the entire time, but had time to chop it up with the coaches. When CJ did show up he also did not seem enthused to be there, but rather annoyed. At least the kids got an autograph AND picture with CJ. Next Ed Davis showed up. ED did a Q&A with the kids and then took a group photo. One little boy whose mom drove up from Salem to attend the camp, ran to ED and asked for his ball to get signed. He was told no. Then ED stepped into the hall with Dame’s family members and did autographs and pictures with them only!!! Some family members of Dames that showed up the second day were not part of the camp or campers; they came for the photos and autographs and didn’t even wait til all the campers got their turn first.

This camp was nothing more than a way for Damian Lillards’ family members to take money from his fans, use his name to brag to children, and get theirselves autographs and photos that campers paid to experience. Damian Lillard should not be making commitments that coincide with a due date if he does not plan to honor that commitment. Not only does Dame not care - which he proved when he couldn’t even apologize to 85 young campers who were decked out in jerseys sporting his number, but he clearly endorses his family members stealing from his fans through false advertisement. I am no longer a Blazer fan and #ShameOnDame.

Someone should tell these athletes that they make their millions because of the people in Portland who spend their money buying their gear, sending their kids to camps, and buying tickets to the games.

Completely blown away that Club Sport will not allow gymnastics on their turf field in the Edge. This is a venue to train and challenge yourself whether you are taking a new route on the rock wall or pushing for your personal best on the treadmill or stationary bike. Today I am cancelling my membership since they will not allow my son to do gymnastics on their property. Its unfortunate Club Sport management is so narrow minded and has a lack of flexibility and willingness to work with their members.

This is definitely not one of your mass chain gyms, like a 24hr sport or LA fitness. This place has a really good selection of equipment in a wide variety of layouts. There is the traditional cardio section, weight room, stretching zone, high altitude training room, indoor and outdoor pool, a few different fitness studios, a climbing wall and a multi purpose cross fit area. There really is something for everyone.

The staff are friendly, I've never had to wait for a cardio machine and there is a good vibe here for working out. The only negative thing I could think of is the locker rooms and hot tub area are a bit dated, but otherwise this place is a solid choice for workouts.
