I have been practicing bikram yoga for several years in various parts of the country. I'm happy to call Portland home now, as this is one of my favorite studios. The instructors are excellent and the owners are wonderful. I hightly recommend this studio if you are interested in bikram yoga.

Life-changing yoga, the most welcoming and encouraging community. The mental discipline achieved from consistent practice is priceless. The teachers truly care and the owner Danelle is a true beacon of light and joy. I will keep coming to this studio and returning to this yoga as long as we are both around 💜 Thank you BYFS 🙏

What a wonderful place! The teachers are so supportive, friendly and kind. The workout is not for the faint of heart though, you'll sweat more than you ever have in your life. It's 100% worth the experience though.

I did this as a Groupon, and had a pretty good experience. The instructors are amazing. The atmosphere is decent. I’m new to yoga and not completely sure of the etiquette, which I wished I was informed of. Some of the people who attend the classes are rude to new people. I asked a man if he could move his mat an inch over since the room was PACKED, I had nowhere else to go, he glared at me and said, “Oh, so I have to accommodate you?”
Just beware of that. It really is an amazing workout and not for the faint of heart. Takes some getting used to, took me about 4 classes before I didn’t feel like I was going to faint. But THEN, unbeatable work out.

5 golden shiny stars! Legit Bikram style yoga in the best way possible! You will not find better instruction or kind people for miles. Annoying parking situation but cute neighborhood and all the in studio amenities you need, including water fountain and showers! If you’re on the fence, try it!

So happy to have found this place! Its real deal Bikram and everyone, both teachers and students, are super nice and welcoming. Classes are fun (teachers keep it lighthearted but also give v good advice) and it feels like there is a tight-knit community. The studio itself is also great with spacious changing rooms, showers, and 2 bathrooms. Street parking free and easy. 5/5 excellent vibes

I’ve been practicing at Bikram Yoga on Fremont Street for a while, and it’s easily one of the best studios around. The space is always spotless, with a peaceful atmosphere and great showers!

What really sets this studio apart is the teachers—some have over 20 to 30 years of experience as Bikram students. They’re skilled, committed, and bring a unique depth of knowledge that goes beyond the usual 26 and 2 sequence. Their passion and guidance truly help students grow.

If you’re looking for experienced teachers in a clean, supportive space, I highly recommend Bikram Yoga on Fremont!

I have been practicing yoga here seriously since 2014, like every other day. The teachers are all unique and fantastic. The instructions are the same, although nuanced by individual teacher stories. It's so healing that I cannot recommend it enough. I'm 65 and have been doing yoga since I was young. I'm still young by practicing here.

After a VERY long time away from in-studio yoga practice and Bikram (thanks to Covid) it felt so good to get back in the hot room. The thing about Bikram is you always know exactly what to expect, and it was amazing to get back in the saddle. The studio is still as clean and pleasant as it ever was. There is sufficient changing room and 2 showers.

A BYFS newsletter with a great deal in it (10 classes for $120) lured me back in and I’m not upset about it. Looking forward to more classes in the near future and creating a regular practice again.
Thank you Danelle and team!

A wonderful, truly Bikram yoga studio, featuring the original postures and 2 breathing exercises. The teachers are amazing, with a unique sense humor added to the dialog. The 90 minutes is a complete mind body workout, there is nothing like it.

I signed up for an online zoom class via mindbody online. I did not receive a zoom link for the class. I contacted the studio for a refund, but they did not get back to me. :(

I started to come here with some memories of the purported benefits of this yoga. I went in in the roughest shape of my life and have come out the other side with increased energy, focus and vigor. I appreciate the reminders painted on the front of the room. I stare at them sometimes in moments I need more energy. “Discipline, Patience, Determination,” etc...Powerful stuff. The yoga was something that helped me regain focus and i find coming into class helps me realign myself and look for signs of what’s needed most in my life. Where do I need to show up? Am I low energy? Do I need better nutrition? Do I want to be here? You’ll learn quickly what is needed. I think for some this yoga brings intensity we need to find ourselves in a chaotic mental and physical space. The structure of doing the same thing every class in the same order helped me understand how setting ourselves up for success works the same in class as it does outside. Wow. Thanks to the instructors here and my intentions for wellness I got the push I asked for and found myself navigating my health actively. I asked for help, I got that help. Get ready to sweat, and if you’re ready to look at yourself and learn from challenge this is the space for you. I like challenges and I like watching the physical changes associated with over-coming them. The way I move is more efficient, tying my shoes is something that gives me joy now and is humorous as I can stand stock still balanced on one leg and bring the other foot and hover it up in the air with not much effort now. My back is improving as flexibility increases and the pressure on the discs is released with good posture and alignment. Gardening is definitely easier now as I’m not collapsing into the low back. The instructors are kind and determined in their instruction, there’s a fierceness about their resolve. The instructors see your work, and and see you as you navigate life’s challenges and that in itself is a testament to the quality of this practice space.

I love this studio! Great teachers, and a hot room, cleanliness is also a top priority, the carpets are fresh and cleaned often. Best place to sweat and meditate at the same time in Portland! Practicing here 4 times per week for the last two months has changed my life.

Bikram Yoga Fremont Street is an awesome, professional, friendly, low key and appropriately hot spot to start or continue your Bikram Yoga practice.

The teachers, the atmosphere, the amenities, the warm and friendly owner, and the "studio dog" Macy, are great!.

The teachers are all adept, approachable and easy to ask for individual tips or feedback after class. I have yet to leave a class without some new and useful tip. There is also at least one very advanced teacher here who provide awesome inspiration.

The amenities are very nice: clean, large dressing room with locked and unlocked storage, nice showers and bathrooms,, a big lobby with a water cooler and nice seating where folks can sit on their own or together. The studio has a wall of windows, with a window that even opens (!), humidifiers, two walls of mirrors and smells clean.

This place has totally changed my misconception that Bikram would be too stiff and dogmatic for me. It’s serious enough, but there is also humor, warmth and friendliness, and it is easy to feel at home at this studio, and to know teachers and regulars by name.

I also enjoy finding folks of all sizes, ages, and experience levels, not to mention, wardrobe choices, here.

I have read some reviews of folks who have not liked Bikram, not liked being called by name. No one is here to torture or shame you. Bikram is a tough and excellent workout; it’s not for everyone. ,And, yes, teachers may call folks by name in class to give feedback and encouragement; that’s just how it’s done in Bikram land, it's not personal, or intended to embarrass. For me, the feedback provides invaluable information that helps me improve my practice and the encouragement is awesome.

J. Micheal, the owner, is a friendly, caring character with a good sense of humor and a philanthropic heart. He can often be found in the lobby, and teaches class too. I like a business with an involved and present owner. You can see his touch in the shower signs reminding you to take a 2 minute shower "or feel guilty” and in the fun art and daily quote board. He runs one class a month that is a donation class for a non-profit. He has helped me continue to do Bikram, which is life saving for me, after a challenging life change would have made it financially impossible.

I started doing Bikram because I could not find a groupon for non-Bikram yoga, so I bought one for Bikram.
I am completely hooked, five months into it.
Finding Bikram for me has been life changing, and I cannot get enough of it.

Bikram on Fremont is my home away from home!

I have attended multiple Bikram Yoga studios in Portland and elsewhere. The majority of classes I have done are here at this studio. The heat is quite thorough, the studio is nice and the staff is friendly. The studio is on the second floor, so what's missing is a lot of street noise/ distraction from the room. The neighborhood is pretty quiet.

I went to Bikram's Yoga at 48th and Fremont today for my first Bikram Yoga experience. It was pretty crowded but I think this was due to it being their introductory class (where members bring a friend), which only happens once a month. I found the facilities welcoming, with showers, changing room and fresh fruit served afterward.
As far as bad stuff I would say two things: One, the place stunk like holy hell! The fact that it was carpeted did not seem like a good idea to me. (To their credit they are planning to close the studio for cleaning and revamping soon.). Two, people were NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE if they were experiencing discomfort! There was a young girl who got up to leave at the end and the instructor totally made her return to her spot! I can understand wanting to keep the class from being disrupted by people coming in and out, but there was a strong push to get people to stay and participate for the full 90 minutes. To their credit they do encourage (a little) to kneel and rest if you cannot perform the postures, but I feel as if there is a little bit of ignorance towards those that are really having a hard time.

Back to the plus side: The class was fairly excruciating due to my being out of shape, but I have to admit I feel AWESOME right now and haven't felt this good naturally in A LONG TIME! :) Also, I felt so good after the class that I signed up for a month of membership (right now you get 37 days) for $30 which I found reasonable.

P.S. Look for a new studio opening up on Alberta soon!
