Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi is a yoga studio in West Linn offering holistic wellness classes consisting of yoga, tai chi, meditation, and breathwork based on 5000-year old Korean traditions. We offer a variety of yoga classes for beginners and more advanced classes to energize and heal the mind, body, and spirit.

Our friendly and inviting West Linn yoga classes include: Body & Brain Yoga (all levels), Core Strengthening, Energy Movement, Open Class, Tai Chi and Qigong, and more.

Out of the blue my son said (after 6 months of yoga with Body and Brain in West Linn) "Dad you look and act a lot younger, and I think it's because of the yoga classes you are taking."

He is spot on! Some obvious changes I have noticed:
- I have lost 10 pounds, and look and feel trim and fit.
- I can do 25 full-range push-ups without any pain or hesitation. (I have had agonizing, seemingly irreparable rotator-cuff injuries that my yoga practice has healed.)
- My endurance is off the charts.
- I stepped off the curb the other day when running with my dogs, and turned my ankle. I immediately thought "Oh no, this is going to be a bad sprain." Instead there was no pain, and no injury. We do stretches in yoga class to strengthen our ankles to protect us from this sort of damage.
- My Achilles tendonitis (yes, caused from 1 too many marathon races) as well as my tinnitus have greatly subsided. I am sure my yoga exercises have helped curb these.
- My peace of mind through meditation exercises is stronger.
- I have met some wonderful folks who I consider to be good friends in my yoga classes.
- Through yoga, I have discovered I can use what I have learned to keep myself fit and healthy for life.

As one of my fellow yoga practitioners says, "We take yoga to stay young, or at-least not to get older".

I joined Body and Brain YogaTai Chi about 2 months ago and attend classes 2-3 times a week. Not only are Master So Me and her instructors knowledgeable, patient, and supportive, but you will find a community of fellow students who are open, welcoming, and fun! My experience with Body and Brain in both West Linn Or and Tempe Az has been fruitful, yet challenging. The fruitful part involves a new insight that resonates with my thinking. A simple word such as “within” as opposed to “out there” is a key that resonated with me.
Secondly, the issue of energy is well articulated in that it encourages one to “connect” with the universal energy that can lead one to appreciate the concept of oneness. In fact, you are a part of that universal energy. Thus, the new concept of “life particles” became clear.
If the above seems or sounds a bit abstract, it’s only a result of “cultural education.” Well, if you choose to undo that cultural influence, Body and Brain yoga just might be right up your alley.
The challenge? Just take a look at our culture - in my humble opinion, it’s a mess - self, competition, greed, etc., have been ingrained into us. The attempt to undo those “thoughts and feelings” may seem overwhelming. The only thing I can say is it is tough, but I chose to “yield” ever so slowly - indeed, presently I am a work in progress on the journey toward “completion”.
PS - When the above is combined with the physical aspects of any kind of yoga, including Body and Brain, the physical movement takes on a whole new meaning - “You have a body, but you are not your body.” Try that on for size - It can be exhilarating!

What a great experience! These classes are not just making my body feel better (which, yay! they are), but also, my stress level is going down, and I feel calmer, and less cranky. When you go to Body & Brain West Linn, you can meet very bright and kind master will welcome you. Center is so cute and clean. I had a lot of stress when I visit there. I'm so glad I found this place! Originally I was nervous to give yoga a try (having never done it before), but after searching many places, I settled on Body & Brain. I'm so glad I did! Just from one class, I felt much less tension in my shoulders and was able to relax for the first time in a long time. I have been a member of the West Linn Body and Brain Yoga for 3 years and I just love the classes and the one on one training that Master SoMi gives to help you meet your goals and needs. I joined because I was having more and more back pain and SIJ pain along with digestive problems like bloating and weight gain. I feel so much better and realized that it is a life style change that Master SoMi has personally guided me through and challenged me. During Covid all the classes and even seminars have been on Zoom and they have really continued to help me at the convenience of my own home. This has been great personal training for me to improve my physical body, energy body and spiritual body.

I first came to Body & Brain for the Tai Chi classes but I found so much more. My biggest issue was balance and the Tai Chi has really helped to improve it. The other classes support the improvement by increasing my core strength, flexibility, and focus. Each class is a little different so it’s always interesting. There is a mix of age and experience, the members are fun and friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable. You work out at your own pace and improve at your own rate. In addition to the classes, personal, one-on-one sessions are offered to help guide you with your individual goals. Master Somi and the other instructors are professional, welcoming, and encouraging. I’m so glad I found this place!

I've been attending 3-5 times a week for over 5 years. I feel confident in the instructors, enjoy others in the classes and feel stronger and more flexible. The combination of cardio, stretching, and relaxing make this more than just a yoga class. The online classes have been just as good as the in-person classes. The first thing I loved about the Body and Brain Yoga class was that I could do it. I was afraid to go back to yoga as the classes can be intimidating for anyone who isn't in great shape. BodynBrain Yoga Center in West Linn, Or. has been a life changing experience for me from my 1st class. I have been coming to the center for 10 months. I am gaining Physical, Mental and Spiritual growth working with Master So Mi and all of the wonderful intuitive teachers here. Very friendly staff! When I first went everyone welcomed me with a smile and a hug.. not only do they do this with me, but everyone. The classes are paced for all body and strength types. For people with illnesses, to very strong and fit individuals. There are modifications for everyone. The content of the classes is very different than that of any other studio I've been to. It's a mix of stretching, meditation, coordination, breathing exercises, and strength exercises. They are all fun and different! Strongly suggest going here, especially for the amazing root tea!

My original intention was to take Tai Chi classes then I soon realized this center, and Master So Mi had much more to offer. The training is different than other yoga or martial arts styles in that the focus is on sensing , developing and applying your "ki" energy. The health benefits are tremendous and multi-faceted - improving energy levels, positive feelings, balance and brain function (memory, etc). Please take advantage of the introductory private session with So Mi, which in my case was a life-changing (for the better!) experience. Master So Mi has also helped my teenage kids reduce stress and be happier with who they are. There are no limits to where you can go with the Body & Brain system.

I came into the center in West Linn and met with So Mi and knew this

Allen and I have been member since Oct 2015. I am 69 and my husband is 77. This has been very helpful in our ability to get around and bend and twist as needed. It has helped Allen's breathing as he has COPD. The instructors are so nice and concerned for each and everyone in our classes. I walked into Body and Brain yoga studio on September 1, 2015. I was looking for exercise and meditation classes. I also was under much stress and needed to improve my sleep. Master So Mi is fantastic! Not only I started sleeping better (after about 3 months of classes) and got great exercise, but also experienced healing at a physical and emotional levels. I like the classes, healing sessions and the workshops. I feel my anxiety significantly reduced, my sleep normalized, I can focus, and stay present in the moment, which helps work and relationships. When I first started at Body & Brain Yoga, my primary intention was to get into better shape. I also had a small interest in learning more about energy.
I have been attending classes for around 6 months.
So now the question is raised, how has my experience been at Body and Brain Yoga?
I love the variety of different classes you can take through the week.
There are various Yoga classes (Stretching, Detoxing. Tai Chi, Private sessions, healing, and other workshops) that are available.
When I first arrived, I was a bit nervous and skeptical. I was welcomed with open arms. The instructors are very knowledgeable with a solid foundation of experience.
The environment is positive, laid back, learn at your own pace.
The instructors and students are very down to earth and family oriented.
Over time I have been learning it is of utmost important to take care of yourself, not only physically, but also spiritually, releasing emotions and feeling free!
Prior to yoga I practiced other martial arts, one in specific was Tai Chi.
During the time I practiced Tai Chi, I knew of energy but never really understood what it was, and certainly could not feel anything in relation to it.
My first meeting with So Mi our chief instructor was in a private session. During this session I was awakened to start experiencing energy.
For me I started to sense energy between my hands, just a tingly sensation, very light feeling, and a little warmth, nothing to extravagant.
but despite my being skeptic, I found that energy is very real, it is amazing, and when you experience it you will know. It is exciting!
Over time as I continued practice, the sensations of energy surfaced in many different pleasant ways.
For example, there are some days when I am not feeling so great emotionally and I'm just physically exhausted throughout the day. And then
I come to Yoga class, and at first i'm still not feeling so well, but after a few minutes things start to all of a sudden feel better, emotionally and physically!
At the end of each class we spend some time in meditation, just relaxing and enjoying our time together listening to soothing music. At about this time I kid you not I have been filled with positive emotion to the point of overflowing!, everything that was negative changed to positive!
When you are overflowing with happiness from an experience, sometimes you want to just share it with others, and so

I have been practicing this for a few years. The classes, various trainings, and workshops helped me to change myself a lot. Now I feel much more relaxed, and not as much affected by external factors. I feel inner peace and joy. I am amazed how simple exercises can change so much physically and emotionally. I have no longer insomnia, and I have no longer my knee pain (I few years ego I had had my right knee surgery). I like that this yoga focuses on training and integrating mind, body, and spirit. I have experienced true healing only though this kind of combined work.
