Continuum Yoga Studio in Bend, Oregon offers yoga in a progressive format, based on principles of Shadow Yoga founded by Sundernath (Shándor Remete) and Emma Balnaves. Our classes improve physical function and mobility while teaching deeper, forgotten aspects of practice such as the importance of preparatory work, unwinding tension in the feet and legs, and enhanced movement of the internal winds.
Continuum Yoga Studio's owner, Angie Norwood, is one of a handful of acknowledged Shadow Yoga teachers in the United States. Continuum's progressive curriculum is built upon generations of wisdom and retains the rigor of a living, breathing tradition.

I've practiced yoga in many spaces with many teachers, and there is no question in my mind: Angie is the real deal.
She has a depth of knowledge that's impressive on it's own, but what really comes through in her teaching is that she lives her practice. She's done the work — in the poses, in the philosophy, in the energetics, and in the craft of teaching.
If you're looking for a teacher who will truly expand your understanding of yoga and a community where you can show up as you are and deepen your practice, Continuum is the place.

I have felt so welcome at Continuum. Here, you will find authenticity, community, and a true master of the science, and system of yoga. Lakshmi Norwood (Angie), knows her students by name, and is able to attune and adapt to what is required in the moment.
This is yoga—union with all of the layers. Guided by someone who embodies the practice, and as a result can see what you may have only yet to see. Shedding our egos to arrive at a place of wholeness and center.
I’ve taught and practiced yoga for over twenty years, and this is the first place in Bend, where I’ve felt challenged to advance my practice. If you are ready for inner strength and true transformation. Come here.

Theraputic yoga was so instrumental in helping me, because whilst I work out, I'm not the typical flexible yogi. The classes were slower paced and geared towards injuries, and Angie was kind enough to modify a lot of poses to accommodate me. Unfortunately due to a back injury , upcoming travels and the theraputic yoga classes coming to a close , I no longer will attend this studio as I don't feel that as a beginner I can expext to be accommodated in the regular classes. Thank you Angie for a wonderful experience ❤️

Although Shadow yoga is a challenging system, it is far and away the most effective approach I’ve encountered in decades of practice, for promoting both physical and psycho-spiritual harmony. Angie is a stellar and compassionate guide. Put this studio on your bucket list!

Continuum Yoga Studio offers a truly transformative experience for those seeking a deeper connection with yoga. Angie, the owner and instructor, brings a wealth of knowledge and creates a serene yet invigorating space to grow in both body and mind. I spoke with a fellow student who said he's been practicing yoga for 40+ years and Angie is one of the BEST instructors he's ever had. If you're in Bend and looking to enrich your practice, this studio is a gem.

What a beautiful space, so grateful Angie & Continuum! This studio offers refreshing twist on my experience with 15 years of yoga practice! From the first class I attended I enjoyed being guided to new awareness and not just shuffled along into my usual poses. I walk away from each class with musings from Angie that stay with me for a long time. I also love how the shadow yoga prelude journey is both physically and mentally challenging, as well as energetic. I feel like I am forming new connections and pathways when I come to this studio, thank you Angie!

Continuum is a beautiful space, and learning and practicing with Angie and the Continuum community is unlike any other yoga experience I've had, in the best way. Angie's teaching style is down to earth, while also including wisdom about aspects of yoga that aren't often taught at other studios. Classes here create a noticeable difference in how I feel in my body and mind each time. There's a rare and precious experience available here.

I have studied with Angie for 5 years now, and am deeply grateful for her attention to my practice and to her sharing the knowledge of Shadow Yoga. I started doing yoga because it felt good and I wanted to improve my strength and what I gained is so much more, in terms of mental stability and a deeper understanding of the essence of yoga practice. I am deeply grateful for the journey into Shadow Yoga with Angie and her new Continuum School of Yoga in Bend, Oregon.

5 starts aren't enough for how brightly Angie shines. :)
I have been a student of Angie's for many years now (she was also my mentor in my 300 hour certification) and the value her teachings have brought to my life and my practice will continue to unfold for many years to come.
She is experienced and compassionate, she lives what she teaches, and always finds new ways to present concepts. Angie has a way of bringing the esoteric and somatic experiences of yoga together in a beautiful union for all levels of students. Her classes and courses are thoughtfully put together both honoring the Shadow Yoga lineage and where here students are on any given day. She keeps it real while holding your feet to the fire.
Bend is SO LUCKY to have you! xoxoxoxo

What an awesome experience! Shadow Yoga felt like deep body and energetic reset. And Angie, who is the teacher, was both welcoming and educating as I am new to this form of yoga. She reminded me of the yoga teachers and studios from way back…when we went to yoga as a spiritual practice and the bodily benefits that became as a result were a welcome secondary. If you are looking for more depth, integrity and connection than a typical drop in style yoga class, this place is for you! Grateful.

I've been practicing yoga of various kinds for about 30 years. Angie brings deep knowledge and lineage that you won't find anywhere else in Bend, or much of the west coast. If you want to go to the next level of yoga then come learn from the sages of old, though the skillful teaching of Angie. Integration of yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, martial arts, and asana are all there. So rich and fulfilling.

I am so grateful to have this yoga studio here in Bend! Each class challenges me physically, but I wouldn't call it a vigorous workout; It would be great for someone looking to get started with yoga or looking for something different than what is widely offered. My partner had never done any yoga before we started at Continuum and now our weekly class date is a highlight of the week.
Thanks to this past year of practice, I am more limber and tuned in to my body. I appreciate Angie's instructions regarding alignment and breathing patterns. I love the way the classes build on themselves progressively. I look forward to seeing this new studio grow and thrive and to being a part of the community that grows along with it.

If you are looking for a different kind of yoga practice, one in which teaches philosophy, anatomy and yoga at its essence, then Shadow Yoga is a practice for you. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, everyone will be challenged according to their level, and everyone will walk away with new knowledge about their body, their practice, and Yoga Philosophy. Angie, the owner and teacher, is a skilled and knowledgeable guide. Angie offers modifications for everyone and shares her in-depth experience and knowledge with students. Personally, I have gotten stronger and am able to make deeper physical and spiritual connections between the poses and the philosophy. I have been practicing yoga for 20 years and it is through Shadow Yoga that I am really able to feel yoga at its core. This is hard to put into words because it is something that is felt not verbalized.Central, Oregon is fortunate to have this studio and Angie.

I’m so glad that I found this studio, this teacher, and this practice! It is truly special. At first, shadow yoga can feel enigmatic and a little bit intimidating from its lack of familiarity. But if you just show up to a class, and are willing to put your expectations to the side and learn, that can create an incredible experience. Curiosity will then keep pulling you back for more.
I have now been practicing at this studio for nearly a year and a half, and it will always have a place in my practice (and has also helped me to cultivate a home practice too).
To help translate the concepts of shadow yoga, I usually describe it as a cross between hatha yoga, tai chi, and fluid martial arts. It is truly its own practice and lineage, but that frame of reference can help those of us that don’t know how to assess whether to try it out (which I highly recommend you do!). This is a yoga practice that is more subtle, and about cultivating internal awareness and harnessing energy, and somewhere along the way, you realize the physical, mental and spiritual benefits too.
Angie, who runs the school, is a wealth of knowledge: her many, many years of studying and teaching yoga in a variety of lineages means that she is equipped to help personalize a practice to accommodate any body, wherever it may be at that moment in time. There is no dogma- it is just come as you are (you don’t even need a mat). There is something so refreshing about that to me, in a time when many of our activities feel fussy and like we need “stuff” to participate. Continuum is a special place!

I took my first Shadow Yoga class ten years ago and knew in my body that this practice was different than typical drop-in yoga classes. When I moved to Bend in 2018 I asked around and searched for a Shadow Yoga instructor, to no avail. When I heard about Angie and her school, I was thrilled to dive back into the practice! Angie has a depth of experience and compassion and it is transmitted through her teaching. I really appreciate her dedication to the teachings, and how she shows up with kindness and attention to safety. When I practice Shadow Yoga, there’s a much different quality to the poses, there’s more depth and an inner body focus that I feel is missed in the average yoga class. This is the place to be if you’re wanting to explore a yoga practice that will meet your edge in a profound and subtle (or not so subtle) way.

I feel so so grateful every day to have the opportunity to learn Shadow Yoga with Angie at her School in Bend, OR. From my first class I knew I was in the presence of a teacher who has a depth of knowledge and own personal practice that I wanted to learn from. The class structure of a teaching followed with a practice and a converstion afterward has been so nourishing and an instrumental way for me to undersertand, to learn in community and to meet myself exactly where I'm at progressing along the path as it unfolds. The studio also is a beautiful space I love to come to every time. I came to Shadow Yoga with injuries. Through practice over this last year I have found that they are no longer front page news but rather something to bring inquiry to and address at the root level. This practice and teacher has inpsired within me the desire to do so and has given me a way forward. I'm grateful our paths crossed and appreciate your guidance and example Angie. Thank you Thank you!

I am so grateful to have found Continuum Yoga here in Bend. I have taken yoga classes on and off since my 20s, but have never experienced as fulfilling classes as I have with Angie. I've been practicing here now for close to a year. Angie's process for teaching yoga has helped me find more consistency in my personal and studio practice, and a depth of understanding of the poses - with a certain humble confidence in myself to learn poses I never thought possible for my impossibly stiff muscles and physique. But most importantly, this style and approach to teaching has created a deeper impression on me in my personal growth. I think that any, even occasional, yoga practitioner is interested in finding a depth of practice that seems elusive except to only the most dedicated yogis. But this school of yoga, based on traditional Hatha yoga, uses an approach that means any of us can find that depth, meaning, and consistency; it is the most inclusive practice I have ever encountered. To top it off, the people that attend classes are the most amazing, friendly, supportive souls. I'm so lucky to have found Continuum and Angie!

Angie is a deeply knowledgeable and compassionate teacher. As we like to say, she is the real deal!
Shadow yoga is challenging and it helped me get really strong and centered when I was attending. What I appreciate about being Angie’s student is that she will help practice at your own pace and provide a lot of adjustments.
I love going to her classes and I wish I could go more frequently but my schedule has not made it easy.
Her space is beautiful, calming, and clean!
Check out Continuum if you’re looking for a new yoga studio, you won’t be disappointed!

I’d move to Bend if I could just to be able to study in person with Lakshmi at her Continuum School of Shadow Yoga. I was fortunate to meet Lakshmi in a class years ago and instantly knew she had something important to teach me. She has been more than willing to share her vast knowledge of yoga and its philosophy. Lakshmi is always ready to meet her students where they are in their practice. My path has not been fast or linear, but I know that she is always there for me. She is a teacher In every sense of the word. Shadow yoga is a way of life, embodied by Lakshmi and her teachers. She is truly inspiring. I know my life is better having studied with her, and i will continue to do so.

If you live in or visit Bend, I encourage you to take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn in-person from the only Shadow Yoga teacher in the Pacific Northwest. Upon entering Continuum Yoga studio, you feel warm, welcomed, and supported. Lakshmi’s (Angie Norwood) deep understanding of Hatha Yoga comes through in her classes and workshops, which are not only challenging physically, but also call for deep reflection.
Much sets Continuum Yoga apart from the modern yoga experience of today. Lakshmi has her own dedicated personal practice, which is guided and supported by her long-time teacher, Mark Horner and the Shadow Yoga founders, Shandor Remete and Emma Balnaves, and which informs her teachings in an authentic way. What I've learned from her is that practicing yoga is not about achieving an idealized state of perpetual calmness or fearlessness. It's about embracing our fears, confronting our inner struggles, and learning to navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace. She maintains that yoga is not about escaping reality but facing it head-on and choosing supportive pathways toward inner presence.
I have never felt more truly seen by and devoted to a yoga teacher. Lakshmi knows each of her students. Under her guidance, I now have tools that help me on my journey of self-discovery and personal transformation. Her dedication, expertise, and unwavering support have made a significant difference in all aspects of my life. If you're ready for a yoga experience that goes beyond stretching, I wholeheartedly recommend Lakshmi and Continuum Yoga.

I've been studying with Angela Norwood for 16 years, and the depths of knowledge and experience she brings to her teachings is profound. She is the real deal. As a result of practicing shadow yoga with Angela I've accessed a fluidity and strength in my body-mind, and even more importantly a level of deep fulfillment in life. Bend Oregon is incredibly fortunate to have the Shadow Yoga School - Continuum, as this practice is in a class of its own, and not found in mainstream Yoga studio's. Thank you Angela for your dedication to your students, and providing a supportive environment for growth and transformation.

Lakshmi (Angie) is an incredible teacher and guide through the experience of Shadow Yoga and the study of the many underlying fundamental concepts that round out a "yoga" practice. One of the things I love best about her is how real she is about the challenges of living a life informed and impacted by the study of Yoga. Lakshmi's Yoga (physical) classes include empathetic guidance through sophisticated sequences that may seem very simple, but which illuminate so much about yourself, if you are willing to to see it. I couldn't recommend Lakshmi and her studio any more exuberantly!!!!!

There’s a reason I have followed this instructor for close to 20 years. First off, if looking to yoga because of physical challenges, Angie has amazingly solid practical knowledge in anatomy and alignment to help with so many injuries and limitations. Secondly, the fact that she is such a dedicated yoga practitioner herself brings heaps of wisdom and intelligence to her teaching that is honestly unparalleled, in all realms. She’s definitely the real deal if you are seeking more than your average yoga class experience, and want to be challenged on and off the mat. A true yoga teacher, in my mind. 🪷

I was introduced to shadow yoga in 1997. I had the privilege of studying with the founder/master Shandor Remete for a week long intensive at Fort Mason in San Francisco California. The experience changed my perception of yoga and the physical practice forever.
Attending classes, workshops and retreats since then has cemented my faith in Shadow yoga. No other style or lineage has delivered me such insight and satisfaction.
Finding Continuum yoga and the inestimable teachings of Lakshmi Angie Norwood has been a gift beyond the price of rubies.
Angie's classes go far beyond what passes as conventional "Workout" yoga in America today.
If you are a student of yoga and are looking for true direction and insight into the deeper pathways of power while cultivating Prana this is the practice for you.
Angie's teaching of Shadow yoga and the community she has cultivated at Continuum has rekindled my desire and passion for asana practice.
Continuum Yoga and Lakshmi Angie Norwood are your best bet if you're feeling stale and are ready to look behind the curtain and take a deeper dive into your yoga practice. All in all Continuum and Lakshmi Angie will inspire true evolution and growth in your knowledge of yoga on every level.
I have studied, practiced, led workshops, retreats and teacher trainings worldwide for over 25 years. I have owned and operated my own yoga center for 27 years. Having studied myriad styles and traditions of hatha yoga with many masters over the years I have yet to find a teacher of Angies caliber.
Take a chance and step into the mystery, the mystery of yourself and the mystery of Shadow yoga.

Bend got even a little better when this studio opened. Angie’s classes offer a unique style of Hatha yoga and yoga philosophy.
