Friendly staff when you walk in.
BUT...
Small, older gym with terrible bathrooms.
The dressing room has old leather like seats that are cracked and splintered, there is hair everywhere so no one vacuums and worse of all that shower doesn't get cleaned out. I had a medical bracelet on that broke off and I hadn't realized it. I go to crunch and use the same shoer 2 days later. My bracelet was still there. Not hard to keep a shower sanitary

Edit: This facility was remodeled and updated and it’s a huge improvement! There’s a lot more squat racks and just a better overall flow to the set up!
Recently I’ve noticed they have employees roaming around cleaning up and tidying and pretty much all hours of the day!
Lots of great improvements.

Original: This gym is decent, I like that they actually have squat racks unlike planet fitness.
It’s definitely busy at the key times of day, but I try to go mid day when it’s quieter.
Even during the busy times, I find that most of the gym goers are respectful and share equipment well, and don’t tend to hog up key pieces for too long which is nice.
Here’s the main complaints I have:
Cleanliness leaves much to be desired.
I have to make an effort to ignore the dirt and dust I see gathering in obvious places. This bothers me and makes me wonder about the level of sanitation that takes place and how much bacteria is accumulating.
The equipment also seems to be getting rather rundown, and it seems like the gym is barely staying on top of it.
Recently I’ve notice that weights are getting re-racked less often. I find weights scattered in odd places, and have to walk around to find the weights I need.. which is annoying.
I know this mostly falls on the members, *however* I see groups of trainers hanging out shooting the breeze often…. And if I were in their shoes I’d be using my extra time to rerack weights left behind and tidy things up, as well as checking the bathrooms including the HAND SANITIZER stations outside the bathrooms which recently have been completely empty for days at a time for seemingly no reason.

Apparently in order to cancel your membership you have to give a 30 day notice. They’re plenty of other gyms who would never. Never using this gym!

The payment /Administrative system Is an absolute nightmare. Not to put anything on the stuff or receptionist, they do the best with what bs they are given, but the CEO or whoever is choosing the software company is making it an entire hellscape. From being charged for multiple occasions on the same month, being charged multiple annual fees in one year and not being able to get a solution from the staff at first, things not going through for literally no reason, staff not being trained properly on how to cancel, at a certain point, the frustrations are weighing out the cheapness.Protect your dollar

I want to take a moment to thank the staff for providing such a welcoming and well-maintained gym environment. It’s clear that a lot of effort goes into making this a positive place for members to stay healthy and active.

I do want to kindly remind members to practice proper gym etiquette, especially during peak hours. Out of respect for others and to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to use the equipment, please limit yourself to one machine at a time. Using multiple machines for circuit training during busy periods can prevent other members from completing their workouts and is not considerate of the shared nature of the space.

We all pay to use the common areas, and by being mindful of others, we can keep the gym a welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.

Thank you again for providing a great environment for fitness and community.

I am moving and there is no Crunch where I am moving to. I have been trying for weeks to call and cancel my membership but keep getting the run around. When they pick up, it’s always someone new who doesn’t know how and you have to talk to the manager. I’ve asked to talk to the manager SEVERAL times, even given my name and number for her to call me. No call back, nothing. I’ve leaf voicemails as well. When I call and talk to the staff, they also tell me I’ll have to pay my annual membership fee even though I’m canceling and won’t be using because I didn’t give 30 days notice. Well I’ve been trying for 30+ days and they are ignoring me. So what’s that’s about. I still have not been able to cancel my account for a membership I can’t use anymore. I’m about to try and make a corporate complaint. So beware. They might try and trap you once you’re in.

I’ve been going to this gym for about 3 years, and have loved the atmosphere before and after the renovation. Over the past year I have been working with my personal trainer Panda. She has helped me so much with my overall confidence and strength, all while teaching me so many new skills that I am able to implement in my own workouts each day. I highly recommend this gym, and all the wonderful trainers that work here.

It's been nearly a year since I started training with Panda at Crunch Fitness in Beaverton. She has listened to what my personal goals are and has developed a training program to help me meet them. I am a 60+ year old woman who has had very limited experience in a gym. Panda has been patient, kind, encouraging, challenging and knows when to adjust an exercise to my physical needs.  Panda has been absolutely instrumental in my progress. I’ve not only seen real results, but I’ve also genuinely enjoyed our sessions. She is organized, dependable, approachable, efficient and friendly. Not only that, Panda is very knowledgeable about the body and how your muscles work. She helps me make the most out of each workout by ensuring I have the right pace and form to keep me safe and make the most out of my efforts. I highly recommend Panda as a personal trainer. With her guidance you will have so much more success on your fitness journey.

They make canceling a pain. You have to either come in in person or write then a letter like it's a break up or something. They're happy to let you sign up and take your money all from the website, but they add extra steps if you wanna cancel. They do this to discourage cancelations and it's anti-consumer. If you're willing to take people's money online, you should let people cancel online too.

For the price ranges that they offer for memberships and their ability to offer different personal training commitment packages, Crunch seems like the best around. It is clean, it doesn't feel overly crowded, and they have practically everything you need.

I've gotten to work with their trainer Shelby who is incredible at helping me with body awareness, giving me easy-to-use and remember movement cues, and balancing pushing my ability while respecting my joint instability. She gives me the confidence to know I can do it on my own but the knowledge that having her there will help me attain my goals so much faster.

If you're someone who is scared to go to the gym, this is a good place. Not too busy, but also not so empty that it feels like you can't do what you need to without being watched lol. There are plenty of different areas that help it feel like it's not just one big room with everyone sweating in it, and the employees walking around genuinely appear to want to help members with any questions. Definitely an introvert-friendly gym as well as a community building space!

The gym is under new management and things have improved. I've been going there for 2.5 yrs 3 times a week working with a personal trainer, Stephanie. She's great - very knowledgeable with 11 years of experience. She manages to keep me (a reformed couch potato) motivated. She changes the exercises up often enough to keep it interesting and to keep my body challenged. She also has lots of experience working with seniors. The gym is a great value for the money and in a great location. I highly recommend Crunch and Stephanie, if you're interested in working with a personal trainer.

I canceled my membership in October 2024.
I was out of the country for six months when I came back I got the letter from crunch saying I Owe them $99. I gave them a call to see what was happening and the front desk told me he’s going to talk to his manager and get back to me and they never did. I called them Again, and his response was we can’t do anything
I got the letter from their attorney and I got charged for $124.53 when I called them to explain my situation, he hung up on me.

I paid because I didn’t want to ruin my credit score. This situation was ridiculous and employee was so rude and disrespectful

Not worth the penny

The only reason the overall review is 3 stars is because the gym is not great, but the personal training has been awesome. I've been training with Jay W at Crunch Beaverton for a year and I could not recommend Jay more. If I could give him 5 stars, I would!

I would HIGHLY recommend personal training with Jay. He is knowledgable, positive, and an all around great guy. He's put up with my attitude for a whole year and never once gave up on me. He's super helpful and you can tell he cares about his clients. I've learned so much in the past year and I'm so sad that I have to stop my session with him.

The gym itself is pretty much exactly what you pay for, it's not a BAD gym, it's just a $12/month gym. The pricing/cancellation policy, etc. is annoying, but the staff are lovely and the clientele are all respectful from what I've seen.

This gym has very poor and bad lighting on the ceilings in general
They block out the natural light from outside, putting super dark light inside makes no sense, I know that they answer to defend themselves but not to provide solutions. I have already seen several comments that are speaking badly about the light, so they do not care about any comments.

SUPER cheap equipment. Awful lighting. No mirrors except a couple small ones by free weights. Benches screwed down, which removes flexibility. Drinking fountains and bathrooms in annoyingly far locations. Overstaffed front desk that does nothing - can’t even bother greeting customers.

If you’re the type of person to go to a gym for 2 days every few months, Crunch is a great place to blow your money.

Yes, you can get a workout in here, but well worth the extra $20-30 to go to a halfway decent gym. This place is certainly a low quality gym; no clue how anyone rates it highly.

I have been a member of crunch for probably over 10 years. I've gone to many across different states. I've never been asked to take a photo. A few weeks ago I was approached by an employee at 5am that I needed to have a photo taken. I politely said at 5am I'm not prepared to do that. She is the only employee who has ever asked and she won't leave me alone. It's feeling like harassment at this point. At 5am, I just want to do my workout and be left alone. I understand policy, I'd be happy to take the photo at a different not 5am time. I'm thinking of getting a different gym membership at this point.

Update: 03/20 and this gym still don’t have an abduction machine. Also, Some pads are broken and they put tape on it instead of buying new ones. It’s very frustrating! I’ve decided to go to Planet Fitness due to lack of consideration for members who pay to use the gym.

They renovated the gym, but a lot of the equipments are still old. They don’t have an abduction machine (it’s been like this for almost 4 months now) and whenever a machine breaks, it takes 1-2 months to get it fixed. Free weights are great, but don’t have a lot of expectations about the machines to lift weight.

The lady at the front desk is very unprofessional and impatient, and she charged my card without my consent. I wanted to join your membership today, but I cancelled the plan due to this lady's discriminatory expression。From 1-11-2024 you are a scammer because I did not agree to join your membership. You deducted 0.24 US dollars from my account. I went to see the manager today to tell him that your receptionist deducted my money without me joining. I just hope you apologize. But I didn't expect your attitude to be even worse. You scolded me when I left. Because the receptionist showed me disrespect two days ago, I ultimately decided not to join the membership. However, as you know, my bank account number deducted my money, which is not much, but you do not have the right to deduct my money without my consent. And you have always believed that you are right. Arrogant and overbearing attitude。As a manager, you didn't solve the problem. When I was dissatisfied and threw a coin on the ground, you scolded me. You didn't deserve to be a qualified manager. The gyms around you had high ratings, but you had low ratings. This is also caused by a manager like you. I feel sorry for your boss. I sent a separate message today about the manager's attitude, but you deleted it. I can't see it on Google anymore, sad manager.

I've been a member at Crunch for more than a year now, and I love it! Not long after joining, I had two chronic injuries I was struggling with and was planning to take a break for healing. Alison stepped in and offered a free session with her to suggest some techniques to prompt recovery. I enjoyed the session with her so much that I signed up for personal training with her, and I have learned so much! She's been patient and informative throughout the process, always making sure that my form was safe, productive and helping me to gain strength and resolve the chronic issues. The gym and locker room are always clean, and both equipment and parking has always been easily available. The new remodel makes the space even more fresh and inviting and the new equipment is great as well!

Five years ago I broke my leg in multiple places. I was grateful for occupational therapy, physical therapy, and a wheelchair for nearly a year. I had accepted my limitations and thought my ability to move each day was as good as it could get. Nope. I joined Crunch six months ago and started working with Stephanie, my trainer, two times a week. She has helped me progress beyond what I thought was possible for my 60-plus-year-old body. I am more fit now than I’ve been in the last couple decades, even before my accident! Daily routines of showering and dressing used to be limited by my inability to lift my leg; I’d have to sit down to dress or stoop to properly shower. Now, my hips and core muscles are strong. I can lift my leg, easily dress, and recover my balance on uneven ground. I used to avoid getting down on the ground; now, I easily move from the ground to an upright position. I can play with my active grandchildren!

I look forward to each day I visit Crunch. The staff welcomes me into the building and says goodbye to me as I leave. For a lot of us, this is the only positive interaction we may receive in a day, right? Stephanie, my trainer, entertains me with laughter and genuine care. She is the reason I am thriving in this once broken-down body. I am stronger, happier, and more mobile than I’ve been in years. Stephanie knows how to push me gently but insistently. She makes each session fun with new routines, and she is an expert in guiding me into the proper positions for each exercise. The best part is that she is teaching me how to care for myself in the years to come. I relish her motivation and will continue to be her client for many years to come. All of us need to take care of ourselves in this stressful world. I encourage everyone to check out Crunch and reward yourself. We’re worth it!

A wonderful place to enjoy YOGA and other classes with wonderful instructors - Nicole, Moon, Kristin, Erin, and male substitute (forgot his name), also the exercise equipment is good and there are plenty of them. The front desk is very friendly, they are much nicer than the front desk before the Covid pandemic!

If you want to cancel your membership you have to go into the business and file a form, apparently the 15 minute process online doesn’t actually do anything?

Luckily enough the lady that “gets those and processes them” was in today and we informed her there was never any contact made via text, email, or call and with that we’ve been paying since May 2022.

Good job guys🥴👍🏼

….Hope we still get that refund

Nearly four weeks ago I attempted to cancel my gym membership via the instructions on the Crunch Fitness website. I filled out the information/contact fields and indicated why I was canceling. The website told me someone would be in contact within 1-2 days. I never received a follow-up email or call to confirm my membership has been canceled. I first called the Beaverton location on Tuesday, July 5th and was told the online cancellation method does not work for memberships for the Beaverton location despite this not being stated on the website form and the Beaverton location being an option on the form implying this was a viable method which is false. I was advised by the employee to send an email directly to the Beaverton location front desk (including name, phone number, and picture of signature) with the implication that this email would cancel my membership. I checked my credit card statement on Saturday, July 9th and saw I was charged for membership from Crunch Fitness. I have been calling for a week with no follow-up and have been actively trying to cancel this membership for a month. The barriers and hoops Crunch Fitness forces a member to jump over in order to cancel a $9.95/month membership is ludicrous. No company should force a member to devote this much time to a task as simple as a cancelation. This approach to cancellation for members of the Beaverton location needs to be DRAMATICALLY improved as soon as possible.

As of 7:48AM Tuesday, July 12th I am still waiting for a response and confirmation my membership has been canceled. Also, I am not in a contract with the gym so there is no reason they can’t cancel my membership upon request and my assistance.

RESPONSE TO OWNER 07/13/2022:
If upper management is going to require members to come into the location or write a certified letter, then why is there a cancellation form to fill out for the Beaverton location on the website? Furthermore, why does the form state that an employee/representative will contact as a response? I never received contact via email or phone call despite providing both these forms of contact. I filled out that form on Saturday, June 11th. It took me calling the location on Tuesday, July 5th to learn that my request hadn't been processed at all.

I was told by the employee who answered to send an email, NOT a certified letter, with the materials I listed above in my initial post. It was heavily implied this is all that was needed from me. I provided the email to cancel my membership before 8AM (PST) on Tuesday, July 5th right after my call. I followed up on Saturday, July 9th and was told by a second front desk employee to talk to a manager for help with this. They told me to call Monday afternoon. I again was NOT told to come in or write a certified letter to fix this. Therefore, those are two different employees telling me to approach this two different ways and neither is the way you have detailed in your response.

Finally, I called Monday afternoon and a manager was NOT available. I gave my number and asked for a simple call back when they came in. No one called.

I emailed again Tuesday, July 12th before 8AM (PST) depicting the above details and by 4PM I still had NOT gotten a response. I finally went to the Beaverton location after work and filled out the cancellation form and gave a signed letter reiterating I wanted this canceled. What is LAUGHABLE is the front desk employee had read my email and told me they were SURPRISED my account had not been flagged for pending cancellation. Wow. FINALLY, at nearly 6PM (PST) on Tuesday, July 12th I got a call from a manager who asked me to come in or provide a letter. I told the manager that I had already dropped off a signed letter and filled out the form 2 hours earlier....

The fact that you do not see the breakdown in your practices with cancellation for members of the Beaverton location is SHAMEFUL. We have all grown up in capitalism, so I think the average client can deduce when upper management has not evolved and failed the client. Fix your cancellation practices.

Be aware of the cancellation policy. You have to be in the gym to cancel the membership. They will charge you until you submit the form in person. The online support sucks. A very much inconvenience for people who need to move or have other emergency. I think signing in and canceling should be easy for a customer. The gym itself is nice, plenty of room for a workout.

I would highly recommend this gym to anyone interested in Personal Training. I have been training with Matt Antinucci there for several months and I can't tell you what a huge (and rapid) impact his workouts have had on my fitness goals and physique. I had a baby 2020 and I felt so out of shape and unhappy with my postpartum body. I did not feel motivated to workout at all and had NO clue where to even start in the gym. When I signed up for Crunch they offered a free workout with a personal trainer and I thought, "Why not try it? It's free". After the free session I instantly wanted to sign up for more because I could tell that this would help me gain the structure and motivation I needed to get back into shape.
Fast forward about 4 months, not only have I lost all my "baby weight" I have gained muscle and stamina I never had before. Matt really knows his stuff and genuinely cares about his clients. He listens to all of my concerns (and complaints) and actively tailors his workouts to accommodate any new goals I have. If I am having an "off" day he helps keep me motivated without pushing me to the point where I want to quit. Working out with Matt has been fun, challenging and so rewarding. I can't believe how much better my body looks and feels in only a few months of working out with a trainer. I could not reach these goals without him. Thank you so much Matt!

I have had no concerns over cleanliness or equipment. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is good and it is a great experience. Highly recommend. If you value honesty and professionalism, DO NOT sign up or purchase anything here. 1 star only because they technically do function as a gym to anyone with an active subscription.

I signed up for basic membership, personal training, bought products, the whole 9 yards. After a few months of training I wanted to cut back my spending and cancel, but keep my basic membership. It took literal WEEKS of me coming in, in person, to hound them about canceling my training before someone finally and reluctantly canceled it, saying they might get in trouble for doing so. That is insane, and I was still charged another month after I put in the cancellation request. I was so demoralized that I just used the training rather than trying to get a refund, and I suspect I never would have.

Fast forward to last month. I needed to cancel my membership because I was moving. This is my first, and last, experience with a gym contract, never again! What a ridiculous way to conduct business for a GYM, I can't believe these places are still in business. It has not been a full year so I was initially told I could either pay $100 cancellation fee or $40 over the course of the next few months to finish out my contract before coming in IN PERSON to cancel my membership...after I moved across town and it would be massively inconvenient. I went home, re-read my contract, found that I met the "move more than 25 miles" stipulation for early termination, WENT BACK in person to get my membership canceled after doing all the work, and was told that I shouldn't have that exception in my basic contract. Okaaaay. I told them, whatever, I do, and I want to exercise it. I was told that we could do an immediate cancellation so I wouldn't have to come back in after I moved, even though I would not be able to use the remainder of my membership for the month, because it would be immediate. Whatever, I was far from happy but just wanted to be done with this place already and had a move to plan and prepare for and needed one less thing on my plate.

After all that, what do I wake up to this morning? A charge for my membership. So much for canceling it, now I have to go back and hound them until it is ACTUALLY canceled, and then force a refund.

This place is frustrating, dishonest, and utterly unprofessional. Buyer beware.

EDIT
I appreciate the response, but to be perfectly clear I was never refunded for my PT earlier this year, so as I stated I ended up simply using it rather than going through the hassle of attempting to get it back. I know the contract says cancel in person or with a letter, but seriously that's so antiquated. It's 2022, enter the current century and offer a digital option. Besides which, the real issue is that I had (and still have) zero confidence that in person cancellation even works, since I had to come in multiple days over multiple weeks to finally get my PT canceled, to say nothing of a refund, and apparently the same is true with my basic membership even though I was told it was an immediate cancel.

When I am told to my face "your membership is canceled and you won't be charged again" and then see a membership charge 3 WEEKS later, with no warning and no explanation, there is no word other than dishonest that applies from a customer perspective.

it’s a huge gym! there’s a lot of equipment. crunch will always have a special place in my heart because it’s the gym I went to when I first started lifting 😭❤️ the music is always a hit or miss, depending on the staff BUT then again 99% of the people are using earphones so it’s not a big deal. I had to leave because I live farther now. All in all, it’s a good gym!

Pros:
Good amount of lifting machines
Staff is very friendly
Good sized locker rooms
Lots of class options for free

Cons:
There are MANY bikes, stair machines, and ellipticals that are broken but not repaired/no sign placed for months. Sucks hopping on 3 machines in a row and they’re all broken.
Some classes are extremely loud and bother patrons who are not in the classes. This includes the classes held at the cardio equipment, and in the separate room for classes.
They don’t allow any bags with you whatsoever, which is frustrating for folks who want to bring resistance bands with them.

These guys are greasy. They make it impossible to cancel a membership and then keep charging you. I canceled my membership almost eight months ago, but they never canceled it… I kept getting phone calls on how they want me to pay and that I haven’t canceled it. So I called and left messages for the manager at multiple locations, no call back ever. They finally left me alone and stopped trying to collect money, I assumed one of the mangers took care of it. Then I get a lovely email on how now I owe them even more money, once again I’ve reached out to the stores and once more have not received a call back to fix any of this. Do not go with crunch fitness.

I have experience with a few other gyms, and I definitely prefer crunch over any others. Huge array of free weights, machines, cardio, open space, calisthenics/MMA areas, open floor for yoga. It really has everything. Only problem is you're supposed to clean equipment after using it, and more often than not the cleaner/paper towels are out and staff rarely restock them unless reminded constantly.

New to the city and state. Was looking to workout for the day. Ya’ll definitely live up to the rumors and set the bar on rudeness. :)
Walking in, I was immediately shouted at by I think one or two men about a mask (ok I understand everywhere is different - believe it or not, relax) put mine on no issue, and checked in - girl that checked me in was incredibly nice, seemed to be the only professional one around.
Then as I walked up stairs to see the rest of the gym, a disgruntled, overweight, Gallagher looking-man approached me with incredibly inviting eyes and dirty looks, as soon as I turned my head I saw the ONE sign that said no gym bags on the floor. Rudely he made a snarky comment about the sign being “posted everywhere” and turned to walk away. He may have forgotten while it’s a gym, people skills are still required.

I wouldn’t recommend this particular location to new people, I used to love Crunch, but I will absolutely be taking my business elsewhere :) thank you for not allowing me to waste money.

Crunch is one of my favorite places to work out. Reason why I like it so much because they have the bumper plate weights. People go in there and want to work out. It's not standing around. Talking about your workout. The Beaverton crunch there's the guy there named Joe rudis guy I've ever met. I’ve tried many other gyms in the area, none were clean or comfortable. Had some creepy experiences at some, as well as some huge red flags in terms of cleanliness. Crunch is absolutely perfect. Felt comfortable from the day I came in to try a class. Brought my mother in law who was visiting in for a workout with me, and I stopped at the front to sign up for an extra class. As I did so, a worker sat down next to my mother in law and instantly made friends with her. She left commenting on how “she loves Oregon because everyone is so kind”. Crunch has the widest variety of clientele, truly is a no judgement place, and has the most downright awesome, positive, and fun environment I could imagine. I’d recommend this to anyone. Kiddy hangout. Machines being held up for texting, and selfies. Ask someone to
put their phone down, or work...while waiting on that machine, the staff won't like it, if that person plays victim about it.
Towel dispensers empty, spray bottles broken, or empty....no one wipes down equipment.
Weight plates scattered all over floor.
Been going here about a decade. Really going downhill quickly.
After reading all of these positive reviews before mine about cleanliness, top-level
equipment, I figure these people must be talking about a different gym, or paid off.
