I have had the privilege to be a part of the staff here for several years and the community here is absolutely incredible. It is rare to find such a welcoming and inclusive studio that is still able to hold standards and expectations of excellence from their students. They help build not only well rounded dancers here, but well rounded humans as well. As a person who has seen the behind the scenes view, you won’t find this level of dedication from management anywhere else.

Our daughter took private lessons with Valerie for acro and learned so much over the course of a year. We have a lot of experience with different types of coaches and coaching style for different sports, and Valerie has the ideal type of coaching style. She is very seasoned and knowledgeable and is able to communicate in different ways to adapt to different learners. She is also firm with her expectations, but very positive and encouraging. Our daughter feels like she’s learned and accomplished so much since she started training with Valerie. She is truly a gem of an instructor!

Hello, as a used to be dancer here. Please do not go here. The staff loves to play favorites with kids mainly with their competition team. They’re never fair to anyone else. They use those kids for main parts and ect. Don’t go here if you don’t like awful staff.

My kids have been taking dance classes here for a few years now and both are part of company now. The teachers have always been so kind and patient with the little. I’m impressed by how well they keep their attention and also the growth and development of my two kids since starting here. My kids love to go to dance and part of that is because of the teachers and the other part is the community. Some of their best friends are in their classes!

Our family has had kids taking classes at Encore Performing Arts Center for about 10 years now. My children have explored musical theater, hip hop, stretching and strengthening classes, acrobatics, ballet and other traditional dance styles, performance opportunities and competitive dance team. The summer camps are always a hit, especially Circus camp! This place is very special to us. The director and instructors are like a 2nd family and the friendships made with other dancers and their families are bound to be lifelong connections.

let me start off with what is good. Nick is a very talented dancer and the students love him and want his attention but he doesn't realize that with this comes great responsibility and some of the environment he creates is "cliquey"

In the first year my daughter loved it but by the second year children's behavior and parents were going unchecked.

My daughter loved dancing and started dancing from the moment she could stand on her own. Somewhere in this experience she would dread going. Something is wrong there.

The communication is awful. You can leave a message and they don't respond for weeks and then they find some way to place blame on the parent, even if you contacted them on every platform they list.

Everything is hurry up and wait. There is a list for you but no accountability on their end for communicating or follow through. Again it's always someone else's fault.

You are told to speak up and communicate your thoughts and feelings but when you do, you and your child are consequenced.

More drama then it's worth, sucks the life out of the students enjoyment of dance and poor communication with a very cliquey environment. There are other great programs in the area.

I had a similar experience as Claire. The studio is lacking in many things but we decided to still give it a try since we were referred by someone in the dance community...but when they demonstrated signs in their core values based in inflexibility, lack of professionalism and poor communication that's all the confirmation we needed. It's obvious they only cater to a certain demographic which is also the reason they're lacking.

My kid has danced on the competitive team at Encore for two seasons, and the growth in her dancing abilities has been really impressive. Encore really lives up to its motto "A path for every performer." They have such a wide variety of classes. Some kids dance competitively and some recreationally; Encore values both. The studio owners and teachers really care about each child and know how to bring out the best in each of them. The friendships we've made are priceless. We are so grateful for the community that Encore works so hard to build.

My daughter has been taking classes here for years and is now in her third competition season with Encore. I cannot say enough good things about this studio!

All of the instructors are incredibly supportive and are amazing at working with their students to bring out their best (while remembering that they are, in fact, working with children). The caliber of talent and choreography here is really unmatched in the Portland area.

I’m really proud to be an Encore parent and, if you’re at all thinking about getting your child into the arts, I would encourage you to give them a try. They will be in good hands.

You can rent this space..it has a really nice dance floor..i attend 90 min. Zumba events there. There's a large garage door you can open for good ventilation. Good for under 20.

This is my daughter's second season at Encore & she says Lisa's Ballet 1 class is "amazing & awesome."
Teacher Nick was incredible with my son.  He was patient, kind, empathetic,  supportive and encouraging to him (a kid who was overwhelmed & scared to go into the class when we got there). After sitting by me for the first 40 minutes into the class time, he finally went in on his own & 10 minutes later came out & proclaimed "sign me up!! I love this!"

We decided to give Encore a try this year. This was an expensive mistake - $160 for 2 sub-par classes.

During the first class we didn’t feel the class was very challenging. During the second class, my daughter was disappointed that the instructor’s young child was visiting and disrupting the class.

After explaining the situation over the phone, the manager passed along a message to me (not discussing with me directly) that I would still need to pay through the end of the month.

So, we’ve paid $160 for 2 hrs of classes. This is appalling. Poor form Encore. We decided to go back to Westside Dance Academy.

I’ve been taking classes at encore for 3 years along with my brother who’s been going for 4 years. We are part of the street styles program and love everything about it. The teacher is amazing and always makes classes fun and exciting. I never have a day where I don’t want to go to encore. Encore has an amazing community and everyone is accepted and treated like family. Everything from affordable classes to a widespread curriculum with amazing teachers, Encore is the place to be if you want to dance, act, or more.

Amazing, amazing place! My daughter's confidence and sense of self worth has blossomed through all of the staff at Encore. It is difficult to see your child go through the feelings of insecurities and poor body image, and Encore has been a wonderful environment where she feels safe to be herself and completely valued. She has been involved in Encore's Musical Theatre program for 3 years, and has taken other acting workshops also at Encore. All have been wonderful. They truly care about their children and I feel very fortunate to have found Encore for my daughter.

Where do I begin? The fact they have brought the arts and balance to my granddaughters life is amazing in it's self. They have taught her confidence along with singing, dancing, acting, gymnastics and arials. Camps and overnight takeovers. Parents night out. What a wonderful way for mom and dad to have a few hours to themselves without feeling selfish. Everyone there makes you feel like family and friends. I always leave with a smile.
