What began as one of my favorite places to visit turned into one of the worst experiences of my life. The staff had been extremely friendly & welcoming until they suddenly weren't. As a traveler, I am always happy to support local businesses with a nice community vibe & ended up spending far more money there then I would've at a corporate gym. I got stuck in McMinnville due to health complications & my departure kept getting delayed, but the folks there were very supportive & kept me on track, going so far as to take a personal interest in my & my dogs' journey. It was actually one my only spots in the middle of a tumultuous city where I felt comfortable. Those people even wanted to meet my dogs & were extremely kind to them as well. Up until the end, I would've said that this place has been a true oasis during a difficult stretch of our overall journey.

However, the city mentality eventually took hold & I was unceremoniously shown the door, being accused of "loitering & harassing" by someone with whom I wasn't interacting nor had ever met. I was threatened with police involvement because, as it was angrily explained to me, interacting with staff for any length of time was strictly prohibited and I been making all the employees uncomfortable this whole time by doing so and told that my membership was going to be immediately revoked, after I had just renewed it too. I grew up in a different era & a different place where human connections were paramount, so this mentality is a bit foreign to me. In all the time I was there, the good will was apparently all performative as I completely misread the aforementioned vibes. I'm in my mid-50s, hardly ever interact with anyone, don't cause problems & have never had any type of criminal record whatsoever, so being accused of such serious things is something with which I am unfamiliar.

I apologize for conversing with staff & would've certainly never gone back had I known that was against policy & that I was making everyone uncomfortable. After nearly a year of being a member, it was never once mentioned to me that
I was causing problems, so it all blindsided me. Plus there was absolutely no reason whatsoever for me to be addressed & spoken to in the manner I was. It could've been handled as simply as, "You are no longer welcomed here, so please leave" and that would've sufficed. To cause such a scene was completely unnecessary & extremely unprofessional.

My dogs & I have been nomads/"vanlifers" for 11+ years & we've traveled this country extensively. We don't usually stay in one place for so long, but health reasons have kept us trapped here. It's clear that I wore out my welcome & I totally understand, so it's obviously time to push myself through the medical issues & move on. Message received. The city isn't right for us anywa. This just all should've been handled months ago & far more professionally, long before they got so much money out of me first.

I sincerely hope the staff will feel more at ease now that I'm gone as I honestly had no idea that I was making everyone feel so uneasy. It was certainly never my intention to make anyone feel "harassed" as I always made it a point to be courteous, respectful & thankful. I will take ownership of violating club policy, but they absolutely should've handled things much better & far sooner. Threatening me with police involvement & charges of harassment was absolutely ludicrous, but it was the deceiving me with fictitious "friendly vibes" & pretending to take an interest in my situation for nearly a year that was the extremely hurtful part of this whole experience. Being dismissed so callously didn't help matters either, but c'est la vie I suppose.

Lots of group classes, lots of weight and cardio machines-all seem to be in good shape. And there is an additional workout area. Plenty of space to do your thing.

Everyone that works here is very nice and knowledgeable. Could not ask for better class leaders.

It is a clean & safe space to workout. Locker room, rest room and steam room all are in good working order.

Excel Fitness is everything I want in a fitness center; the facility is well-kept and its in a great location. The exercise equipment is abundant and in great shape. The owners & the staff are very professional; they are knowledgeable, friendly, and atentative. The membership prices and policies are very reasonable.

I'm confident that anyone's physical fitness goal(s) can be accomplished at Excel Fitness and at hope to be a member there for many years to come.

I highly recommend this gym. All the equipment and machines are always clean. All the team of this gym are always nice and friendly. They offer zumba classes and personal training. Amy is one of my favorite trainer. Don't hesitate to jump in now.

I go here daily. It's a nice place to work out. They have several selections of equipment, and nothing is out of order. They also offer affordable childcare, limited hours. I do wish they were open longer on weekends.

Went to Excell fitness for the first time 5 or so years ago when my husband bought me a year membership. I mainly did pump and cycle classes and absolutely fell in love! The atmosphere and energy of the classes was outstanding and I got stronger then I’ve ever been in pump! I eventually moved to doing weights on my own in the main gym so I could challenge myself to lift heavier and heavier. My family and I moved after that year and I kept up with some workouts on my own but I was always missing those gym classes. In 2020 my health took a nose dive and of course Covid did a number on us all. My family and I moved back to Mcminnville and in 2022 I restarted my Excell gym membership! I am back at pump ready to get strong again and am also enjoying Zumba very much! I actually look forward to my workouts with excitement because of the energy and fun I know is waiting for me and I am already feeling strong again. Thank you Excell team for doing such a wonderful job!

I would literally rate this gym less if I could. Walking into this place feels like the drama and a headache of highschool. Staff is heavy hit or miss with heavy emphasis on the miss because good help leaves quickly or suffers the poor management. Proceed with caution or just go to Planet Fitness.

I’m in Oregon for seven months and checked out 4 other gyms. Excel is by miles and miles the best. Every single employee is personable and kind. They have very fair rates for their gym even if it’s a bit more expensive than a massive chain (but we like supporting local businesses!). Excellent variety of equipment and I really appreciate the huge turf/stretching area. Steam rooms are fun in the nice locker rooms. Also, it’s generally not very busy compared to other gyms at 5-6pm which is great for me after work.

Very good gym and friendly staff, the machines are kind of hard to use at times and the main cable system cannot adjust up or down just in place at the highest and lowest points. The set up of the equipment also seems to not make very much sense although they have a weird shaped building to work with. There is only one platform and the benches are slightly uncomfortable. Still one of the best gyms around though and will give you a good workout. Planet fitness doesnt hold a candle to this gym in any sense. Give it a try and see if its for you!

Love the classes. They have taken extra precautions with Covid19. Constantly cleaning and they have open door for extra air flow during classes. Lots of Physical Distancing between people attending classes. You have to wear a mask to enter the gym. The instructors teaching classes are absolutely amazing: Kristi is one of my favorites. Ive worked out for and have been a member of many gyms for over 30 years, and thats not easy too do when youre only 35, but seriously this is a great gym, well equipped for all types of training, it has rapidly become one of my favorite gyms ive been lucky enough too be a member at.. Dave the owner is super nice guy and will work with those with a budget so that you could be apart of the ever growing health and fitness lifestyle.. Im just getting too know the staff, Marcus very helpful and nice guy, And their manager Brooke, a welcoming smile and laugh ( if youre funny lol ) that makes you always feel welcome.. This is a 5 star gym, and i know a little about the lifestyle, thanks too dave and Brooke.. Mike

This is the best place in town for me. I visited the others including the big chain. I am not a muscle head as some are who go to this gym. I go in and do my work out and leave most days. After a few months several of the muscle guys started talking to me. They are friendly and usually family guys, that surprised me. I am now on my fourth year at Excell.

When I went into Excell Fitness there was only 1 person working there to help me we talked about memberships , it cost $43.00 for a months membership but they have other types of memberships from a week to 5 month memberships. They have pretty good hours of operation from Monday to Friday 5 am to 10pm, on Sat 7am to 7pm and Sun 7am to 6pm. They also have 8 tanning beds one of which is a stand up bed. They have spray on tans for $30.00 where you buy one spray on tan and you get one spray on tan for free! . With the tanning you can go for a month to month for $29.00 but you have to sign a contract. One session of tanning costs $5.50 , they have a special going on right now where you buy 5 tans and you get 5 tans for free.
A membership to the gym gets you full access to the gym and they have a sauna to . And they have classes a Youga class , one for younger people and a Youga class for older people and Zumba class they all come with your membership to the gym. Excell Fitness also offer personal trainers at $30.00 a half an hour and $50.00 for an hour with a personal trainer. So, if your looking to get into shape or get tan stop by and check out Excell Fitness for yourself!

I chose this gym because it has childcare. I like the classes they offer. The real gem is how personable the instructors & members are. First time in the class got there late instructor waved me in point to a good spot & members got me the accessories I needed for the class. It's a good gym with great people.
