Good unless you need to go off the teachers scripted routine. Then they I intervene.
I enjoyed this place for most of the year I was there. Many instructors were very nice and the space is clean.
Near the end of my time there, however, multiple instructors started complaining mid-class that I needed to do what they were doing the whole time. Sometimes I didn't like a pose they were doing, or it was uncomfortable for me, so I would simply do other poses in those moments. The response was for instructors to interrupt lessons to tell me to stop and do what they were saying. Two times instructors came over and tried to physically change what I was doing. I should have left after the first time.
At first I thought this was manageable: I started moving to the back of the room, and didn't go back to that instructor again. The second time, I spoke to one of the co-owners, who made a point to not only not apologize for anything or even acknowledge that what their employees did was wrong in any way. They tried to say without saying that I should follow what the instructor says at all times. I left after that.
Very disappointed I lost my favorite hot yoga studio. But I don't want to pay for the privilege of being pushed around and touched without permission because a teacher is too insecure to tolerate one person not follow their every word.
Edit: after reading the owner's scripted response to this review, I can see we agree on one thing: talking to them is a truly forgettable experience. I will take this wisdom to heart.

I can’t say enough good things about this studio. The owners are wonderful people, the instructors are high quality and it is extremely clean and thoughtfully cared for. Shout out to my favorite instructors: Majo, Heather, Lex, and Leah! 🫶🏻

I don’t even know where to begin. This studio has been a refuge to me. I have found a true yoga practice here. I don’t know where my mental health would be without the classes and teachers here. There’s more to say than I can type in a public review but I have so much gratitude for this place. The teachers at firelight are a cut above and I walk away from every single unique class having deepened my practice, my mind body connection and my presence in the moment. I always find hat I need here whether it’s a sweaty workout or mental clarity or a safe space of peace.

Time flies… I’ve been a member since 2017 and it’s still my favorite studio in Portland. Over the years I’ve taken a few breaks here and there as I moved out of town- but I always find myself back to Firelight. I love the teachers, they have a variety of classes, heated + non heated. High intensity, medium intensity and very little movement with more of a stretch focus. I’ve had a few injuries and surgeries but have always found a class that fits my needs during those times as well. Highly recommend this studio!

Love this place and everyone that works there. Incredibly grateful for the community the team and members here have fostered. Feel invigorated, calm, strong emerging from
class. Parking is not amazing in this area so factor in that parking/walking time if not nearby - but it’s not that bad, don’t worry.

Absolute garbage!!!
Showed up at the door @ 10:33 after racing across town and the girl decided to haggle about a 5 minute cut off instead of just letting us in. I’ve never never had such a tragic experience with a yoga studio.
Trust I will be warning peeps about this place!!!!!

When I tell you, this is my favorite place to be - I actually consider this to be my third space. Walking in and just seeing everyone so excited and determined to crush their workout is so fun. It’s also so well lit, warm and cozy. I really appreciate getting to know the instructors after classes and just talking about the class itself and more about my journey and where I’d like to be/get from the material they’re teaching. If you are a BIPOC, they also have free Thursday evening 8pm classes as well - SO great to connect with more folk that are apart of the community and have a connection to wellness. If you are looking for a new studio - this is the place to join there’s a little something for everyone along with a wide range of times for numerous classes!

I've had extremely negative experiences with staff. I recommend looking for a yoga studio that works to be a part of and support the community that supports it. Interacting with staff is extremely transactional, a mode of interaction fundamentally at odds with the spirit of yoga.

I absolutely love this studio! The staff welcomes you by name once they have seen you a few times. The instructors are all kind, passionate, and bring their own style to each class. They keep things interesting, even after a few years and hundreds of sessions in. There's a class for everyone! Choose from heated or unheated, easy or challenging, grounded to a bit woo. Teachers often offer options for varied levels of difficulty/ability and stress that you "take what you need, leave what you don't." They also do lots of special focus classes (inversions, meditation, sound baths, etc.) and fundraisers to great local nonprofits based on participation. Firelight is a treasured part of my community, health, and routine - thanks for all you do!

I can’t believe I’ve neglected to write a review for my home away from home. Several years ago I found myself in a familiar rut, and really needing a new outlet and expanded community. Years before I had tried hot yoga, and thought it wasn’t not for me. I’m so, so glad I opened myself up to it again because Firelight has been a grounding presence in my life ever since. I absolutely adore this studio and its genuinely welcoming atmosphere. The instructors are top notch, and you just get a good feeling about how they feel about being there. The owners clearly put a lot into building community with their members and instructors, and that trust between all of us makes me feel great about going back again and again. When I first started coming to the studio I was only really there in the cool months, but I’m now there year round. It’s actually a little quieter in the summer and you get to spread out a bit more in class. Cheers and thank you, Firelight Yoga!

I’ve been going to this studio for a few months now. Teachers are exceptional. The classes are nicely varied and inclusive. You can get into a groove with a hot practice or take a more calming, restorative class in the unheated room. They also have sculpting classes for an extra strengthening push. The studio is very clean and spacious. Highly recommend.

I have always loved this yoga studio and started coming here in 2016. But I am just frustrated with multiple things they have changed. From what I can see there are no longer any 5 class packs (or 3 class passes) other than a monthly option that the classes don't roll over. Why? Those of us who live further away and can't come as often the class pack really made a difference. I only see a 10 class pack that also is expensive and not affordable. I know we are in a recession and there's inflation but the prices have went up from like $15 a class in 2018 to $29 a class now..so almost double. Perhaps this is the severity of inflation. But also the fire room is just usually way too packed. Like they book so many people in the room that when you are doing some poses you can't put your arms out fully (e.g have to cactus them)or your legs off the mat because you will run into the person beside you. More personal space would be appreciated. I don't think I can afford to go here now and I think the new credit/class packs have really turned me off unfortunately. I'm sad about this and hope they bring back some of the packages for people like me who have been coming here for years and just don't have ability to come regularly. I know there are virtual options but those aren't as meaningful or useful for me as an in person option. I'm updating to 4 stars. 3 was too harsh I like the classes alot just feeling discouraged. It's a good studio.

I love this fitness studio! The staff and instructors are so kind and knowledgeable. They really prioritize building relationships with their clientele. The studio is always spotless and they offer a number of really thoughtful amenities (showers, a hair dryer, scrunchies, etc). They also offer one of the fullest class schedules I've ever found at a yoga studio. Classes of all varieties running from 6 am to 8 pm! I know that no matter my schedule, I'll be able to find a class on any given day that I'll be able to make it to. I think a lot of folks go to FLY for their hot yoga offerings but as someone who only takes their unheated (and occasionally warm, but never hot!) classes, I can assure you that there's plenty of options that aren't 100°!!! And class styles range from vinyasa yoga to functional stretching to really challenging strength classes. I'm never bored, and I don't feel like I need to add another gym membership or two to get well-rounded variety of movement in my life. I'm really glad I found Firelight Yoga!
I'll add that parking can be challenging, so allow extra time for that. Their app is very functional, although it doesn't notify you via text/app notification if you get off a waitlist for a class (it only sends an email, which isn't very effective for last-minute updates). Though I was disappointed their discount program no longer includes healthcare workers, they do continue to offer a really meaningful membership discount for teachers, students, military, and seniors!

While the classes are generally good, this studio has a pretty terrible vibe. It feels like they look for every opportunity to keep your money while not providing a service. I was 3 minutes late and they wouldn’t let me in to class or give me a refund. They have an 'expiration' on their class passes that is in the realm of months. During covid when they closed down classes, they still let class passes expire with no refund, even though they couldn't actually be used. This place is like 4 blocks from me and I would still rather get in the car and drive somewhere than walk to the class in the fresh air and then have to deal with the 'gotcha again, nothing I can do' attitude of this place. No thank you.

I have been dropping in to this studio since 2021 and it's honestly the best studio I've ever been to. The community is on the quiet side compared to other studios I've been to, which lets me skip the small talk and meditate before class. But if you do talk to anyone they are always friendly. The instruction is top notch and there is a good variety of classes every single day, including hot yoga. I do most of my yoga outside the studio, but all of my studio classes will be at Firelight as long as I live around here. My one gripe is that I wish they spaced mats out a little more; in full classes you might not be able to bring your arms out to a T without touching your neighbor.

ACE's yoga class today and the sequence he fused delivered the depth of the Yoga asana for all levels of practitioners. He created and held the space and the time to dive as deep as we cared to go. The Hot sequence, Bikram inspired, Hatha foundation not only held the presence of the class by his authenticity to cue alignment, breath, and soul. Eventhough I have practiced many methods, I never knew what he was going to reveal next and this kept my inner smile bright. He has a thorough understanding of muscle groups and offered the appropriate repris to each posture. My body was challenged through the 60 minutes which I never even thought about the time once. His enthusiasm was contagious as well as he continued to adjust his tempo based on how the class as a whole was responding at different intervals of the flow. Overall, I look forward to enjoying more of teachings here at Fire Light. Thank you so very much.

This place is a joke, I arrived literally two minutes late because this area is extremely run down and there isn’t a lot of parking (I had to walk like 5 blocks) and the instructor greets me at the door and basically told me that I am not getting a refund and could have been charged a late fee. I was excited to try this class but given the area and their extremely unfair rules ( every yoga class I’ve ever been too allows 5 minutes to settle in) I am extremely disappointed and left feeling robbed of my time, desire to seek out classes in the future and excitement to attend. I would like a refund for this class because I’ve never heard of anything so ridiculous as to not having a five minute late policy in a class. Extremely unfair treatment, and honestly just pretentious energy.

I’m a big, big fan of this studio. I’ve dabbled in yoga before, but have never been a member at a studio. The variety of classes here makes it a great value. With the Sculpt and HIIT classes, my cardio health has improved and I’m seeing more physical progress than I had in years. The instructors and desk employees have all been super friendly and helpful.
If I’m being PICKY picky, there’s a few things I’d tweak…like a few less people in the heated room. If it’s a full class, expect someone’s head to be real close to your butt during a wide legged forward fold. And with heat + activity…things can get a little funky. I’d also love to see a 45 minute class, so you could truly get in and out in an hour during the workday.
Overall, super recommend this studio!

This is my first week at this yoga studio and I am so impressed. I've been to many yoga studios all around the country because I travel for work. But this one has been one of my favorites !! There's so many different classes everyday no matter what your body needs that day there will be classes to help support you. I love being able to choose from hot yoga and unheated yoga throughout the day. So many different classes that will fit your schedule. I love that they have an 8pm class for those of us who work late. My favorite favorite thing is that they have donation based classes a couple times a week if not daily. That really makes me happy to support a yoga studio that supports the community and make yoga accessible to everyone. I look forward to continuing my practice here :)

Haley H. is fantastic, I always feel safe in her class. There are more teachers here that I genuinely connect with than anywhere I’ve practiced before. I love feeling like I have a friendly rapport with staff; I have many favorite teachers but Majo, Leah, Pati, Amy (both Amys!), Olivia, and Hayley A. are my week to week go-tos. Every class I take, teachers make a noticeable effort to cheer every practitioner on at least once; they always offer modifications for all skill levels and mobilities. I enjoy chatting with other practitioners before class which makes me feel like I have community. FLY has so many classes at different times and various intensities that I have options to come at less busy times if I want to, whether I’m in a high or low energy space. Booking classes is super easy on MindBody or the FLY app. That flexibility and access is unmatched and after years of searching for the right studio, I can’t see myself practicing anywhere else.

I've been going to Firelight Yoga for a year and a half now and can say it's a studio like no other. I appreciate the acknowledgement all the instructors have for the people, religion, and origins of yoga, and how they mindfully do their best to give thanks and appreciation. Haley M, Haley H, and Joey are some of my favorite instructors who are just really talented and have a grounded welcoming presence. This was an incredibly welcoming class and Leah was an awesome guide!! My experience today left me feeling welcomed and confident about taking another class if I wanted to! I regularly train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and always find myself dealing with some injury from class. I entered the studio today with a pain in my left knee cap and an extremely sore right shoulder. Warning to people looking to buy a pass and then actually *do* yoga: You will have a tough time actually getting in, and the few openings will always be for unheated gentle stretch sessions.
Those gentle stretch classes were all taught by competent, kind people... but I gave up after 2 weeks of not actually being able to sign up for a single hot yoga, or power vinyasa class - those classes are always full. As a result, I ended my trial not having really been able to try out the yoga I am looking to do regularly. They offer streaming content, but that is NOT what I am looking for from a yoga studio near my home. I want to go there and do yoga, darn it!
I absolutely recommend signing up for individual classes if they have an opening for a class you want at a time you want (wow lucky you!) I absolutely DO NOT recommend buying an unlimited pass - you cannot actually use it to take yoga classes. Maybe they sold too many already, or are unwilling to pay instructors to give more classes to satisfy their existing demand. in any event, a monthly pass would likely not give you much yoga in return. Nice place and people, and if they had enough classes, this would have been my first choice.

Firelight Yoga has the widest array of yoga styles offered in a heated room in town. Their central "Hot Fly" offering I find to be a successful fusion of Vinyasa and Bikram styles, my favorite class; and their full schedule and varied community workshops mean I can usually find a class there that fits my schedule and inclination. Most classes are warm but not super-hot. For extreme heat and some variety of practice there's Forge Hot Yoga at Alberta and NE 13th.

Firelight yoga has made such a profound difference in my life since I first found them when they opened over 5 years ago. I signed up for my first class when I was injured from running and needed something to keep me active. Since then, yoga has gone from a random thing I tried to something I need in my daily routine. I've become more confident, grounded, and subsequently also have arm muscles for the first time in my life.
I've since tried studios in many different cities throughout the world yet still love the feeling and comfort of returning to Firelight. EVERY teacher and staff member here is welcoming, friendly, and caring. There is absolutely no judgement. The way they've handled Covid makes me feel proud to be a member here. So thankful for this space and all the good vibes they've put out into the world!

I hesitated for quite some time to visit this studio and now I wonder why! This is a popular, awesome place. Very clean, nice atmosphere, flexible classes and now they are offering their second Teacher's Training. On top of that, this summer, I understand they will be offering an TT immersion for those who want to Certify as an instructor but do not have the time. The studio and instructors are flexible and happy to work with students! For example on a fluke, I was the only one to sign up for a class and the instructor encouraged me to stay, worked with me and helped me with more challenging poses. Rachel was so nice and made me feel so welcome. I love this studio so much that I am now a monthly member! Don't hold off trying out this studio, they have an excellent introductory offer....plus, they stay on top of their on line schedule so there are no surprises when you arrive. thanks for reading my review!

I absolutely love Firelight. As a novice just starting my practice, everyone at Firelight has been so supportive and encouraging. My practice is my own and the instructors are there to support me, not their personal vision of what a yoga practice should be or look like. They make that very clear at the beginning of all of their classes. Sometimes folks will be in classes doing something entirely different than everyone else, which allows folks to really listen to their own bodies and not feel pressure to follow exactly along. I love the community, trust, and joy I feel at Firelight. I have connected with my body and power in a way I never have before! THANK YOU❤️

great teacher, intense workout, nice reception from staff, flexibility to book or cancel really client forward. Constructive: tight entrance when switching classes and some yoga classes are too focused on proceedure/routine and workout vs. flow and connection to self (considering the flow and yogo focused classes, not applicable to sculpt considering the purpose of class).

I love this studio! Always have a great time. I have taken various classes with different instructors and always enjoy it. The cold towels at the end of the hot classes is a total game changer. The instructors here are all very thoughtful and confident with their lessons, and I’ve been able to push my flexibility in ways I didn’t know was possible. This place definitely provides a home to a wonderful collective of yogis, and I can’t wait to come back.

Shout out to Haley, Heather and the doggos for always being so welcoming. I’m a pretty awkward person, so I appreciate the gesture so much. Today I got a massage by Jason, who is so calm and good at what he does that i fell asleep during my massage! All the instructors are great! I am mostly motivated by music to not give up, so if you also identify with that, try Katie’s class, killer playlist! And she keeps it current, as soon as DHL dropped, it was on the playlist and literally made my day! Wendy and Chelsea are so warm that if you are having a bad day, seeing them will surely fix it. This is getting way to long, so just thankful that I have been able to attend this studio. Y’all should try it :)

The people are friendly. Theh offer a large variety of classes. The teacher, Rachel was very knowledgeable. She had me working in a new to me way. She very much paid attention to what the class was executing with giving great queues. The gentle class is accessible to new practitioners, yet can easily be a challenge to the most experienced by focusing on form.

I discovered this place a few months ago and I adore it - so much so that I stopped going to the gym and just go here for all of my workout needs. They have a wide variety of classes from early to late, so pretty much anytime you're in the mood for yoga there's a good chance a class is starting soon. The teachers are excellent. There are of course the standard vinyasa and hatha classes but there are also some wonderfully unique classes like buti, power yoga sculpt, and movement and meditation. Highly recommend!

I'm torn because there are some things I really like about this studio and some that I don't love so much. I understand that some of the things on my "con" list are subjective and may even be exactly what others are looking for in a yoga studio.
Pro's:
It's right off the max and bus line so super easy for commuters who take transit. They also provide free mat rentals for anyone who bikes or takes transit.
They have two rooms going simultaneously at any time from 6:00 in the morning with the last class starting at 7/7:30 so it's very accommodating for a busy schedule.
A shout out to a few of my favorite teachers (they do have some great ones) Rachel Walsh, Olivia Stephens and Veronika Vogler. Unfortunately Olivia is only really teaching one class / week these days and Rachel is out with an injury :(
Twice a week they have an introduction to yoga class which is a smaller, workshop style class where it's just you and 6 other people + the instructor. This is honestly one of the best things about this studio. I had been dabbling with a practice inconsistently for about a year when I came on board here and this class really helped me really build that solid foundation to start making the practice my own and listen to my body more intuitively. You get the opportunity to ask questions, which is awesome! Everyone who does yoga whether you're new to the practice or have been practicing for years should have the opportunity to take a class similar to this - you will learn so many little pieces about alignment and body mechanics that regular classes just don't have the space/time for. It was such a game changer for me!
They have a super friendly / positive vibe, as one would expect from a yoga studio, but still - not something to be taken for granted.
Cons:
50% of their classes are heated, which I am not a fan of so that basically eliminates half the classes for me. Which would be fine if the other 50% were more traditional hatha, vinyasa, yin classes but I would say 25% of the other classes are really more fitness classes than "yoga" classes (power yoga, HIIT, "Werk" flow, Buti yoga, Light on Sculpt etc.) So that's 75% of the classes that are not really the style I'm looking for. Nothing against fitness classes, I think they're great. It's just not what I want in a yoga studio, I go to the gym for that business. I would love to see more classical yoga influences and a bigger spiritual component to the practice in more of these non-heated classes. They do have a smattering of restorative classes as well which is nice. But ideally I would love something in-between a super hardcore workout and a laying-on-the-floor meditation. This is the main reason I'm actually contemplating giving up my membership for another studio, despite having the old rate that was "grandfathered" in prior to the recent raise. I love the convenience of this studio but it's really not the kind of yoga I'm looking for.
There is some noise pollution from the street (it's right off interstate, so you get to hear all the traffic going by when there's not music playing)
The decor in the earth room could use some help. Not a huge deal but a mural or something to spruce it up and add to the ambiance would be really nice. The fake plants aren't doing it for me. And there's some fan from the men's locker room or in the air duct or something that's SUPER loud - maybe it's been fixed by now but last time I was in it was rattling and super distracting during shavasana. Ideally, my mind would be focused enough that this wouldn't matter but.... at the end of my work day, this is not often the case.

The pace of the class was great. I like the teaching styles of Trey and Chelsea, both were very to the point and clear with instruction. Had some great continuous flows. Room was well heated and clean, as were bathrooms and amenities. The only thing I would change is that the music was slightly too loud for me, but this is just a personal preference – I like to concentrate on poses and breathing, so music distracts me a little. The eucalyptus face towels: amazing. Thank you - really great yoga experience in Portland.

Over the past 2-3 years I have found firelight yoga to be a wonderful place to exercise, both for body and soul. They have three rooms at the studio and have a huge variety of class types and instructors throughout the day/week. I haven't been disappointed with any of the classes I've taken... I took a lot of gentle yoga and slower paced classes when I was recovering from some major surgeries, but I've also taken a lot of hot classes like power vinyasa/sculpt. I would say that almost whatever style of practice you are into, there is a class and instructor that will fit your needs here. Everyone is super friendly so ask whoever is working at the front desk for direction if you aren't sure what class to take!

I don't normally write reviews, but I haven't seen this studio too full when I've been there and I think it is a hidden gem, that warrants the attention of PDX yogis:) I gotta say, I'm extremely impressed by the Firelight Yoga studio! I discovered the studio via Groupon and my expectations were simply to get some warmer yoga classes in during the damp dreary transition into winter...well, it turns out this studio is much more than a "hot yoga" club. First off, the studio itself is modern, cleanly and convenient. I can't say enough about the radiant heat and lack of stinky carpet that infuses most hot studios in the area..some obvious forethought was put into the construction of this calming space. I started with a "hot 60" class, which was excellent, but really came to the studio for the yin/vinyasa/restorative and so far my expectations have been exceeded. The teachers have not only been smooth and flowing with their direction, but each of them have been very welcoming and warm to boot. Some added small touches really are nice and unique to this studio, during some "shavasanas" the teacher will come around quietly with essential oils and waft them above your nose as you lay with eyes closed, nice mini aromatherapeutic enhancement to one's mediation:) Firelight really incorporates a healthy balance between the hot, more intense, "yoga as fitness" style and the calming more restorative styles. One thing that is not necessarily a criticism, but might affect some's interest, is the fact that so far music has been played(all great!) during every class I've attended...I like the addition of music, but I also appreciate the silence for some classes. I've only been to 4 classes, so, perhaps some classes don't use music, but this has been my experience so far. If you live anywhere in the area or are visiting, I highly recommend you check out at least an intro at this studio. They offer a few special referral discounts as well and you can bring a friend for free on Thursdays.

I would consider this yoga studio more on the "trendy", power type of studios. Think Corepower but less crowded. I think it's a great workout. They're very good at what they specialize in, which is hot yoga. This is my favorite studio I've found in Portland to take a hot yoga class at.
Pros: The place is clean, parking is pretty easy, and the staff is welcoming. It's not that much of a cluster. I highly prefer taking a hot yoga class here over Corepower-- it's stressful for me to take classes there given how crowded it gets.
Cons: If I'm looking for a spiritual experience or some healing-- this wouldn't be my top choice. I'd have to go to a studio that offers Yin or Kundalini. This isn't a huge con most days, but some days I really need an ultra hippie experience.

I was incredibly excited to have Firelight Yoga open just up the street from my house. I've been taking their classes for the last two weeks now with their awesome 25$ introductory deal. I've had a great experience with them. The class room is nicely sized, not all too large with space for maybe 18-20 people to go through their yoga practice comfortably.
