Fitness First is spotlessly clean, and their strength and agility classes are game-changers for optimizing health and healthy aging. Thanks to Shayla Kirkendall, I hit a personal deadlift milestone I’d been chasing for months—couldn’t recommend this team more!

Fitness First is Amazing! I’m 44 years old and in the best shape of my life. I recommend Fitness First to everyone because I know that the commitment from staff and coaches are constant and top notch. There are 3 buildings that offer aerobics, free and machine weight, and cross training options. Being that my work week changes the two biggest attractions for me were the ample amount of cross training classes and 24 hour fully equipped gym. I can’t empathize enough how incredible the Coaches are and how much the Ownership and Staff strive to offer a clean, professional and consistent atmosphere. I’ve been a member for 2+ years and, God willing, for many more years to come. To all the Men… don’t wait any longer to strengthen your body. Strong Body=Strong Mind. Fitness First can get you there, all you need to do is show up.

Fitness First is a gym with the latest equipment in a super clean facility. Family owned since '82 the caring and experienced staff and trainers give personal guidance to help each member attain their personal goal. My husband Larry has lost 60 pounds in the last year and gained muscle mass, strength and much improved health. I have been a member since '94 and would never think of going anywhere else.

I started going to Fitness First about 18 months ago and have been very happy that I chose to join. They have multiple classes you can choose from and just a short walk across the parking lot are 2 other gyms! One is 24 hours with a secured entrance, so you can go when it’s convenient for you and feel safe. The gym is always clean and the staff is friendly. They have a rule about no filming which is great for people who just want to work out. Besides the 3 gyms they have knowledgeable trainers and Shayla and Geoff are a great resource for training. If you’re looking for a gym that has intense classes or want to work out on your own, this is your place.

I went to this gym for 3 months and got screwed.
I figured the price would offer me a more deluxe experience but it really is just a sub par gym.
the Main gym is okay, offering free weight bench press and a free weight squat rack, which was the main reason i decided to try the gym, because planet fitness only has squat racks.
The dumbbells go up quite high, which is also another good quality, but besides those few things, the gym is really sub par.
I had to pay 45+ dollars a month, and plus the annual fee which you have to pay regardless of when you sign up, and then when i tried to cancel my membership, which i made sure to do before the 15th (which is when you pay the monthly fee), i was still charged for the next month…?
The 24 hour gym is mediocre at best. Just think of a basic hotel gym that offers very few choices.
The garage gym is pretty cool, but I dont want to have to walk all the way over to another building just to hit a different exercise…
The leg extension in this gym is by far the worst piece of equipment i ever used ever in a gym, and its the only choice…
In total, if you want exclusivity, good quality equipment, cheap membership cost, and an overall great gym experience, don’t go to this gym.

I absolutely love this place as mentioned below by a horribly self centered person if you are looking for a gym that will let you walk around looking risqué she is right this gym isn’t for you. Because that is not the kind of gym scene this company wants to portray. However if you are not huge on big crowds or just aren’t comfortable working out in front of a ton of people and like friendly gym members and staff with sophistication this is the gym for you. All gyms have some things that need fixing that’s when you tell management however I’ve been through a lot of gyms and this is by far the best one I have ever been too. Is it pricey yes for sure but rightly so because they hold their self to a higher standard then most. So if you’re looking for a great place to workout this is the place.

I really wanted to like this gym, but it was a huge disappointment. The monthly price and yearly fees are ridiculously high, especially when you consider the poor value you’re getting in return. Equipment is outdated and this gym is severely lacking amenities. For the price they charge you’d expect at minimum a sauna. Not to mention the 24hr gym is even worse than the main, equivalent to a hotel gym. The only nice part about this gym is the cross fit center, which use is limited due to classes.
This gym also has some dated and bizzare rules. I was shocked to find out I wasn’t allowed to wear a long lined sports bra with high waisted leggings while working out. It was summer and over 100°F outside, an inch of my abdomen was showing. A staff member actually came upstairs to seek me out and let me know my outfit was breaking gym rules. This led to an extremely odd conversation, essentially explaining they cater to an older population. When asked if I had to leave, as I didn’t have a shirt to put on, another staff member continued to shame me and make me feel uncomfortable, stating “sure, but don’t be surprised if you get weird looks.” This rule is incredibly dated and reflects a conservative mindset that negatively impacts the fitness culture here. If you’re passionate about lifting, this facility will be sure to dull that. As a young person in Roseburg, you’re better off at Planet Fitness, which I can’t believe I’m saying because that’s also a terrible gym.
The only positive thing I can say is that the place is clean — there’s always a staff member cleaning something. But at the end of the day, overpaying for outdated equipment and dealing with staff policing your body just isn’t worth it. Would not recommend.

The only good thing about this gym is Chris and Eli at the front desk—they're super cool and friendly. But the machines are outdated, and I can't even carry my amino acids in my shaker bottle because it might spill and stain the old carpet. The treadmills and stair master barely work and really need an update, and watch out the bumbells may fall on your face while your shoulder pressing because they come loose and the owners just expect you to "screw them in and fix them" as they say. The owners—can’t remember their names—are like hawks, just staring at you during your workout, which totally weirded my girlfriend and me out.
To make things worse, they tried to dress code my girlfriend for wearing a GymShark sports bra and shorts when it’s blazing hot outside. They claimed it was to cater to their clientele of sexist old men, but I see those same guys strutting around in tank tops that show way more skin, and no one says a word to them. Plus, you can hardly use the CrossFit area since they always have classes in there, which is just unfair if you want to use the only newer equipment they have.
Oh, and they make you carry around a spray bottle of Lysol and a rag to clean the old equipment, while most gyms just provide paper towels or wipes. It really feels like they’re cutting corners, which makes the whole experience uncomfortable and annoying. All of this for $50 a month, plus a $50 yearly fee and a $40 sign-up fee? Just ridiculous.
As someone who’s been passionate about working out for the last five years, I never thought I’d switch to Planet Fitness (since there aren’t many gyms in Roseburg), but I did! It’s only $20 a month, no sign-up fee, and the place is actually clean with new machines. I can’t believe I spent five minutes writing this—I’m not a reviewer or anything, but this gym definitely deserves it!

I highly recommend Fitness First in Roseburg for the best gym around. I have been to many in my years, and I think Fitness First is outstanding. They have 3 buildings and an upstairs in the main building with a ton of equipment in each. The machines are well maintained and clean. People are good about wiping down the equipment after each use and there is always staff going around and cleaning also. This is the first gym that I have been to that was so clean. Bathrooms, locker room, the outside are also very well maintained. The staff is awesome, very friendly and greets you when you come into the main building, they are quite helpful with whatever your needs are. Nice selection of healthy snacks, and drinks. The building is big and bright with lots of windows to see out, surprisingly with all those windows it is not hot in there. Excellent air-conditioning and many fans keep it quite comfortable when working out. If you need a trainer, they are all impressive. I personally work with Shayla or Geoff, a couple of amazing people (they also own the place). I am an amputee, so I need a lot of extra help and they are willing to go above and beyond to provide me with great workouts. I have seen them working with others that require extra help and they are patient and help find the right workouts that fit everyone’s needs.

So this gym equipment is completely outdated overuse and just frankly not very good. Paid for a full years membership in advance have not used it for one day and they will not refund me anything bad service stay away. You will not get taken care of they do not put money back into their gym, and all of their policies are frankly unreasonable and they have a sign up on the wall that personally slanders people that go to the Y beware was treated rude for even asking lol

It's a really great gym but I joined in December and it is really warm now with all those windows and no shades or curtains. This last week has been really warm in there, I don't like to wear shorts to the gym. Especially the machines by the windows, those ones are really hot I hope they have AC at some point. None of the machines I want are in the cross fit section so I am stuck in the hot front building. There's only a couple machines I use in the 24 hour one. At least some curtains? Anything to block out some of that heat. And a lot of men in particular do not clean the machines when they're done. Was great until it got warm and sunny though.

This gym is BEAUTIFUL! The staff is friendly and accomodating. I am in a Senior Strength Training class with Manami on Wednesday morning, 10AM
The class is FANTASTIC! The personal attention is WONDERFUL!! This class sets my week up for success! The instructor, Manami, is very tuned into her clients--she is caring, compassionate and truly interested in the health of us--she is attentive and unlike other trainers I've experienced--doesn't push us past our body limits or our abilities at that time---but--make no mistake--she is "no nonsense" and DOES push us to realize our full potential. You won't regret taking the class!

By far the nicest commercial gym I've been to. The gym owner is kind, swole, and his choice in equipment is excellent. They have high quality pieces like Rogue Ohio Power Bars, Life Fitness/Hoist Cable machines, Cyber leg presses, a nice open concept crossfit section, and every cardio piece one could want. If I am back in town to visit, I will gladly come again.
The only downside is my soreness from trying out all of my favorite machines.

This is an excellent gym for people who really like to work out. They have a lot of top notch equipment and free weights as well as a room full of cardio equipment. They also have a 24-hour gym as well as a CrossFit dedicated gym.
The staff at the gym is very friendly and helpful and the facility is always clean and well maintained. The only negative is the music that they play on the PA. I like to listen to metal while I work out so I have to wear headphones.

I had been going to Planet Fitness. However, I decided to change my membership over to Fitness First -- they provide access to quality equipment (as well as actual bench presses and squat racks!), their employees are eager to help, their atmosphere is perfect for feeling motivated but not intimidated, and the owner is an especially kind man who cares about his members. This is a great place for getting serious about fitness!

Great gym. They have a ton of nice equipment. Stair climber and, elliptical machines, treadmills, stationary bikes and rowing machines upstairs in the cardio area of the main gym. Big selection of cable and belt workout machines. Dumbbells and barbells, exercise balls. I did a week membership visiting out of town. Friendly staff, trainers available. They also have 24/7 smaller gym and a crossfit gym as well. I would join for sure if I lived there.

Having always lived in large cities I was not used to having so few of choices for a gym. I have been at Fitness First for two years and have not been disappointed. This gym is modern, well equipped, always clean and maintained along with friendly staff. I have never tried the classes or their Cross Fit but it is offered as well as personal training and affordable tanning. Unfortunately they do not provide childcare. For those of us who like a more quiet low key workout the 24/7 building fits those needs. Often I can drop in during the middle of the day and have the place to myself.

Fitness First is definitely one of the best gyms in Oregon. I've trained at gyms up and down the west coast and what you get out of Fitness First for the price you can't compare it to anything. It's insanely clean, safe, has great equipment, and with 3 separate buildings there's something for everyone. If you're looking for a gym in Roseburg look no further.

Poor service, they charged me $10 to switch my payment method; zero stars. When I cancelled my membership of $32 a month, they acted like they didn't care about their own losses. That's more than a $10 loss. Other reviews are consistent with this one. They don't care about people or service.

In my experience this company values profits over people. I should have checked the reviews before signing up because it seems I'm not the first one to have this problem.
First off I will say that I enjoyed the use of the facility and some of the classes were great but the customer service is extremely lacking. I was in the area for a 3 month internship and knew I wanted to find a good gym for the short time I was there. I came in and was told there was a 3 month membership minimum so I thought it would work out perfect. I was also told it was very easy to cancel membership and I could do it at any time.
Turns out the 3 month minimum is 3 months worth of auto pay and they of course don't count the first month you sign so it actually turns into a 4 month commitment. This was very misleading from what I was told by the sales staff and they were completely unwilling to work with me regarding this miscommunication. I also did not receive the complimentary training sessions or a tour through the gym facilities that were supposed to be part of the deal when I signed up. So I'm stuck paying them for a little over a month of usage that I'm not even in the area. Barbara the membership manager was not very polite and kept quoting that I signed and initialed all the paperwork. So knowing that I am not there and not using their facilities and that the original agreement was done through misleading communication they fall back on paperwork and decided it was more important to continue to take my money regardless.
Make sure you take the time to go through every detail in the large amount of paperwork they give you. I'm sure there are probably other gym facilities in the Roseburg area that offer better services and value people over money.
