Fantastic studio. I've been going here for six months now. They are a close-knit community that immediately makes you feel welcome. Alex and Jessi founded this studio in 2010 and have been teaching here ever since. They have built it into an impressive business.
All of the instructors are top-notch. Whether you've never stepped on a dance floor before or you're a veteran pro, you will learn something.

My fiancee and I have been dancing here for the last 6 months. It originally started as a fun date night but soon turned into a hobby with how fun and approachable the instructors make the dance lessons. All the instructors are super knowledgeable and are able to communicate that knowledge to anyone. If they can turn me into a dancer they can turn anyone

I came to FADS for physical therapy after having amputations on both my feet. It turned out to be so much more. The FADS family in Lake Oswego and Beaverton are phenomenal. I misuse the word family because that is what we are. It starts with the owners, passed down through the instructors, and carried on with the students. There is such a community of respect, kindness, and simple silliness here. It is an environment of being in a safe place to learn to dance, flub it up, laugh at yourself, and enjoy others who will support you, encourage you, and triump you through your personal victories. OMGoodness, Chris, my instructor, has the patience of a saint. I came to him as a hot mess that led into something I call my happy hour. Trust their process. They know what they're doing. Not only are they certified instructors, but they also compete regularly. The level and knowledge of their expertise here is outstanding.

My boyfriend and I are having so much fun learning Salsa from our instructor Chris. Chris is super knowledgeable and professional while still keeping our lessons fun. He was able to get my boyfriend and I dancing together in sync in no time. We grow more confident dancing together every session. I will say the best way to get your bang for your buck is practice often outside of your private sessions and take advantage of their group classes and practice parties. Dance class has become our favorite part of the week and we look forward to many many more classes and private lessons to come.

Took some lessons here for our first dance for our wedding and it was an all around great experience!
We got help with everything from tips on specific moves to selecting the right mix of steps to fit our song.
Maile was really fun to work with and we absolutely rocked it on our wedding day!
Thanks again to Maile and Chris for helping us along the way.

I have been taking lessons here for a year now and enjoying every minute of the experience. My instructor has been the human embodiment of patience as ballroom dancing is all brand new to me. The studio is also more than just individual lessons with group classes every evening and dance parties on Fridays; so lots of chances to learn from all the excellent instructors and practice what I'm learning. The studio has built a great community of people, creating a fun place to learn to dance and just hang out with new friends.

My time with the FADS has been very positive, educational, and supportive. The staff are always enthusiastic when working on new dance moves, as well as eager to answer questions or maybe give a different explanation when I get confused. Dancing has become a hobby of mine, and I am very happy with my experience at FADS. I highly recommend this studio to anyone wanting to learn how to dance!

Just a heads up, their "private lessons" for $145 per 45min aren't actually private; you share the studio space and don't get to listen to the music you've chosen. The best they can do is allow you to listen to your song on a phone while whatever they're playing on the speaker system is blasting. Try learning to waltz for your weddings first dance while salsa music is blaring from overhead speakers as your chosen waltz song plays from an iPhone. NOT exactly what we had in mind when we envisioned our "private" dance lessons for $145 per 45min.
Update after reading response from FA:
WOW, I'm blown away at how ridiculous the response from FA is on so many levels. You actually had the nerve to LIE and say our song was played on the "sound system". The only way that's a true statement is if you are referring to your iPhone as a "sound system". And you had the nerve to say we weren't ready for music in our choreography when you were playing 2 different kinds of music for our entire lesson. Saying it's up to the instructor when to add the "element of music". Both of those statements are simply NOT true, there was music the entire time. And as you clearly stated in your email response to our request; there will always be other music playing in the studio because there's multiple lessons going on at the same time.....Additionally, in the lesson we took with a different teacher we've learned half of our 2 minute routine in ONE lesson. It's safe to say we were ready for the "element of music" and it was "beneficial" in our learning process. In fact it enables you to learn much faster! That method being one-on-one, and practicing to your chosen song without the distraction of another song playing at the same time.

My fiance and I have been working with Kacey for our first dance. He has been really fun and easy to work with; especially without any prior experience. The intro and wedding packages we got were great and the prices going forward are completely worth it. We are wanting to continue with him and the studio for recreation purposes even after the wedding. They offer tons of group, private and party classes to really invigorate yourself into becoming better. We adore them and wouldn't suggest anyone else.

Kacey is a fantastic instructor. I had ZERO previous dance experience. Now I can dance with my girlfriend without being terrified. Lessons and parties were fun, other guests were supportive, and it even helped our relationship dynamic.

Awesome instructors! Great new space--large wooden dance floor, high ceilings, mirrors line one wall. Happy dance students young and old, first-timers and experienced dancers. All have a home here.

Just started dance lessons today with my daughter. We had so much fun!! Still deciding on which one we want to concentrate on, but I really liked the waltz while my daughter loves the swing. $50 gets you 2 private lessons and you could join the party clasess throughout the month. The dance studio has a very high ceiling and the lighting sets the mood. They even have a minibar!! Very clean, pristine, and the instructors are super fun, patient and helpful. Planning on going here for a very long time!!!

We moved to Portland recently from the northeast, where Fred Astaire studios are more prevalent. We wanted to continue with that franchise syllabus, which provides a well-structured approach to all kinds of ballroom dancing. We were a little surprised that Portland's was the only one in the northwest states, but we were much more surprised by how fabulous the teachers are here. (We had several instructors in the northeast, all good, but none anywhere near as good as the ones here.) The other students are earnest and friendly, a great atmosphere for group classes. Finally, they've just moved the studio to new space conveniently near Bridgeport.
If you're looking for lessons, start here!

Knowledgeable instructor, but very high prices. Tried to push a 'discounted' package in which each 45 minute lesson cost $58. That means lessons are priced at $77.33 per hour. No thank you. I would be all for a $10/class bulk package.

Wonderful dancing, wonderful fun! Private lessons started with orientation on six dance groups (waltz, tango, foxtrot, cha-cha, rumba, swing), after that focused on how to do each dance well, with really fun steps. Group lessons well paced, not too short and not too long, entertaining and instructive. We can hardly wait for our next lessons!

My wife and I have been coming here for the past 2 months and the experience has been great. The instructors and staffs are wonderful, very professional and friendly. We are true beginners and everyone there, including fellow students, are so helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a dance studio to learn how to dance or hone in your skills, you should give this place a try.

We signed up for two "private" lessons and a group lesson. When we got there the instructor proceeded to not listen to what we wanted to learn and only teach us what is in their introduction to dancing lesson program. Which is 10 minutes each on four different dances. So there was no time to actually learn anything or practice advanced moves. They made us learn dances we had no desire to learn. When I said I didn't want to learn this they replied that this is what we teach in this lesson. There many other couples dancing at the same time and they tried to teach us to Waltz while the song "I'm to sexy" was playing. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone wanting to seriously learn to dance.
