My kids have always loved open play so we decided to have a private Ninja birthday party at Freespirit. The process was easy and parameters clear and reasonable. At the party the two staffers were remarkably talented with kids and also thoughtful in supporting me hosting the party (staying on schedule: do cake halfway through so that there’s time for more games and burning off sugar!; carrying in cakes with candles to the birthday kiddos so I could enjoy the moment and take pictures, cleaning up after us!! Using a hand stamp treat to help toddlers get shoes on when it was time to leave.) It was such a pleasure to enjoy the company of other adults at the party while the kids were completely engaged and entertained in a fun and safe space. I cannot recommend Freespirit enough! I am so grateful and impressed by the whole experience from reservation to saying goodbye!

At pick up the first day of ninja camp, my 6 year old said, “This was THE BEST thing I’ve ever done in my whole life!” She loved it from the time she walked in and she can be slow to warm up to new things.

The owners and the staff are top notch. The facility is incredible.

I considered moving to Bend just for Free Spirit Ninja for my kids. My older daughter (9yo) did the yoga camp and the ninja camp and loved them both.

I took my toddlers (3 yo and 1 yo) to the open toddler time and it was amazing! The owner Rachel and the staff member were so attentive, helpful, and kind. The set up for younger ones was perfect for my 1 yo- she stayed entertained the whole 90 minutes! My 3 yo is hesitant with heights but ended up loving the second level of the gym! Amazing to see him build confidence. 10/10 recommend for the toddler open gym!

My 3 year old son's PT recommended this place. We did the ninja classes. They were fun, but I think he would have gotten more out of just the free play times. He didn't like the structure of a class so much, even if I thought it was really cool.
This place really is great and encourages kids to move. There is literally something for kids of all ages to enjoy.

Free Spirit is AMAZING! My ten year ninja-mad daughter attended a regular Monday night session for three months while we lived in Bend, in addition to every second Saturday Ninja Night. She had a blast, loved all the coaches (especially the owner, Seth) and learnt so much. She had been attending ninja classes in Florida for years but learnt more in three months at Free Spirit than all those classes combined. She could not wait to go!!! And the Ninja Night is genius for parents too … keeping us sane with a few hours alone. Thank you Seth!

Man do we love this place! My little has been coming here since she was 9months (3yrs now) and I couldn’t be more thankful they exist in bend. She has gained so much body awareness, confidence, and little friendships through going here. The weekly classes are so great and structured and open play allows her to feel it out with some the bigger kids. We can’t wait to have our little one grow up going here and we can’t wait until she’s old enough for my husband and I to use the date night! (1x month, kid drop off on Saturday night!!). The owners are awesome people and they make sure to bring in great people to coach. Thanks for being around free spirit! As my daughter says every week “I love ninja!”

Free Sprit has been such a fun and safe place for our daughter! We have only taken one type of class, Baby Ninja Warrior, but have gone constantly for about 10 months now. Because of this class, my daughter is confident in any active activity and knows how to climb up and down things safely.
The staff are all friendly and gentle with the kids and the facility is always clean. This is something my daughter looks forward to every week!

We've been to Free Spirit a handful of times now for open Toddler play time, a birthday party, and I've done adult yoga twice! Everything we've done there has been SPECTACULAR! It is very clear that the owners Rachel and Seth are passionate and caring about Free Spirit. My 1 year old and 4 year old both LOVE every minute. If it was up to them, they'd go every day :) We love saving it for bad weather or smokey days, but should fit it into our schedule more often because it's so great. My two adult yoga classes have been awesome, too. Rachel is one of those perfect yoga instructors where her prompting seems effortless and sets such a nice tone for class. If you have a chance, I'd highly recommend doing one of the outdoor yoga classes. The indoor studio is great, too. Couldn't recommend this place enough for the whole family!!

Free Spirit is an amazing indoor gym facility. We have been going here for years for their toddler open play and ninja camps. The staff is professional, friendly, and good at what they do. The facility is amazing and offers a variety of fun activities for children to do. My children have learned great social skills, confidence, and improved their physical abilities through going to Free Spirit. I think the critical reviews over the masks is not accurate and not fair. They have always enforced masks for those aged 5 and up, which is the mandate. This is the same rule that all other kid gyms around town do too! Please don’t put down local small businesses that are trying to survive during this difficult time and actually doing a good job, with your false information.

This place hosted a series of "ninja warrior" Summer camps. They randomly opened up more spots for these camps after enrollment was already full, which should have been a big red flag. But, like many of us desperate parents trying to find safe childcare this Summer, I jumped on a week of camp that I needed filled. When I signed up for this camp the county had only 9 covid cases.
Week of camp rolls around and the camp email midway down has one brief line stating "masks are optional". Yes, it was my fault for not following up on this. But every other camp we were involved at over the Summer required masks, especially indoors! So I didn't think much of it because I'm trusting a business to keep our children safe. When I went to pick my kid up for camp, there were maybe three kids in the whole building wearing masks, and no staff. This concerned me. We had 132 covid cases that day and were into a huge spike.
I reached out to the owners and was not met with compassion at all. I was pretty much told they were following "state of Oregon's guidance" about it- which was contradictory to the info I found on OHA saying that kids 5 and over are required to wear masks indoors and playing sports. I was also told that I wouldn't get any part of a refund because they "had a very long waitlist". All this did was reassure me that they did not in fact have the safety and wellbeing of the kids in mind, it was just to cram as many kids in and make a buck.
Funny enough, of course two days later Kate Brown made the mask mandate, so sucks for me to pick that week for camp I guess!

I hate to be critical during a pandemic when we are all struggling, but this is incredibly serious. Masks are the only things keeping our kids safe. It is beyond disappointing that we had this experience, regardless of the money.

My close friend's son was signed up to attend Ninja Camp this week, something he was excited about as it was a change in pace from the other camps he had been attending throughout the summer.  The camp was also significantly more expensive but she decided to have him attend anyway because she thought it would be special and fun for him.

After picking him up the first day she was made aware of the small size of the facility and the large (16) number of children attending, most of which were not wearing masks.  As a parent it is our job to ensure our kids are put in the safest situations possible, when she realized the lack of social distancing as well as lack of mask wearing she opted to pull her child out of the camp in order to keep him safe.

The ONLY protection against COVID that children under the age of 12 have is to wear masks and practice social distancing.  When she sent an email to you all explaining her decision, not only was she not offered any compensation for the days her son won't be attending, but the email stated she knew masks were optional per state guidelines and plenty of other kids would have loved to have her child's spot.

The welcome email that was sent out by the company does state that masks are optional, but that is actually not in what the CDC or state guidelines had been recommending for summer camps or youth programs.  According to the Oregon Health Authority youth programs are encouraged to REQUIRE that all youth age kindergarten and up wear a proper face cover and when it needs to be taken off that they are properly socially distanced.  While the term "encouraged" is used, which means programs do not have to require masks saying they are otional is a far reach from what the Oregon Health Authority and the CDC are actually recommending.

When I first began attending hot yoga they sent me a message saying we recommend you bring a towel and a water bottle. I had done many yoga classes before but never got yoga, so based on their knowledge of the facility and class I followed their recommendation. Had they sent a message saying water bottles are optional, I probably would have though nothing of it and sense I have never needed a water bottle at yoga before I would ha e left mine at home. How we use words matter. There is a big difference between recommends and optional.

Making a decision to take your child out of camp is never easy, especially for a working parent.  Working parents rely on summer camps in place of school so they can continue to do their jobs, when she had to make the decision to pull her child out of camp not only was she left with the loss of money from your camp but she was also left with having to scramble to find childcare for the next few days for her son.  Working parents also rely on camps to keep their children safe while they are at work, something that was not happening when young children are being placed together without masks in a small space. I understand saying you are following the guidelines and look forward to them changing Friday so everyone has to wear a mask. Parents should be able to rely on camps to make solid safety judgment calls and should not need the government to step in. My children had attended multiple camps this summer all of which when indoors required masks, this is the first amp I have heard of that hasn’t. We know the science, we know masks are the only protection these young children have, the reason the government had to reinstate the mask order is because people and places like this one are able to put safety first and do it themselves.

When she sent an email to let you know her son would no longer be able to attend for safety reasons she was not treated with compassion and understanding given these unprecedented times, (especially for our unvaccinated and vulnerable children) but was told - another kid could have filled that spot - this is a blatant disregard for child safety and clearly shows that revenue is more important to your company than keeping children safe.

We went to the open toddler play and had a great time. The facility is clean and the staff is very friendly. It was a bit expensive, but worth it since there aren't many indoor options in the winter. There is a climbing wall, hanging rings, foam ball pit x 2, slide , rope climbing wall. It's a "Ninja Warrior" training experience. It also has a small little kid corner with a fort/slide combo for the less rambunctious kids. Gripper socks are required, and available to purchase there. I'd go back again for my child to expend some energy!
