I’ve been attending this Pilates studio for about three years now, and I’m so grateful to have found it. Before trying any other studios, I started here because they teach classical Pilates, which I believe is the best foundation before exploring modern methods.
In my first year, I took private classes with Jessica due to some knee issues that would flare up with other workouts. Amazingly, I didn’t have a single flare-up during that entire year! The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating, and they helped strengthen my knee, allowing me to get back into consistent walking and gym workouts.
The studio truly feels like a family. Everyone is kind, supportive, and genuinely invested in your well-being. It’s more than just a workout; it’s a community that cares about your body and tailors the classes to your needs. The small class sizes mean that instructors can closely monitor your form and prevent injuries.
I highly recommend this studio to anyone. It’s not just about Pilates; it’s about the positive energy, the caring community, and the personalized attention. I tell everyone about it because it truly is the best!

I've been working with Jessica for a decade and she continually adapts exercises to account for individual injuries and recovery. Her ability to understand the whole body and individual needs is unsurpassed. Through her support my physical wellbeing is dramatically improved.

Jessica is a master teacher and instructor. I have spent many summers in Portland specifically to learn Pilates from Jessica (and her talented staff). Jessica has created a welcoming, caring studio community. Jessica is generous with her time and expertise. She genuinely cares deeply about helping people and Pilates is the way she has helped so many people in so many ways.

I’ve been taking private sessions with Jessica Schultz for the past 2 years, and I can’t recommend her highly enough! Jessica and her team bring so much expertise, care, and intuition to every class. There have been many times where I have come to class with pain in my hips, and she worked her magic, tailoring my session to help release tension and strengthen the areas that need it most.
I was nervous about starting Pilates at first, but Jessica has created such a welcoming and supportive environment/community that made me feel comfortable right away. Jessica and her team make Pilates approachable and empowering, no matter your starting point. I’ve become noticeably stronger, more balanced, and more in touch with my body since joining.
Starting Pilates has truly been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. If you’ve ever thought about trying Pilates, I can’t encourage you enough to start here.

I’ve been attending Jessica’s studio for about six months now and have nothing but great things to say. She’s carried me through my pregnancy as a first-time mom, and I truly credit my continued stamina and strength to our sessions. I also love her strong anatomical focus and clear, thoughtful cueing. I couldn’t recommend her classes more!

I would like to respond to Chris (the ONLY one star review): You obviously don't know how fitness studios make money. They make MORE money on group classes. If Jessica was telling you to take privates, she would be making LESS money (only one person in a hour instead of multiple people). She wasn't trying to upsell you. You said you need more of a physical therapy style of Pilates class - she was just trying to help you because you can get more attention in a private. Also, Jessica offers a FREE Pilates class EVERY WEEK - does that sound like someone more interested in money than people? Jessica Schultz Pilates doesn't even sell memberships - they only sell pay-as-you-go packages so how can they even use "gym membership salesmen tactics?"
Also, maybe you should check out the mat schedule before buying a package? Seems like this is on you, not her. She didn't change the schedule on you. You can't really get mad at a studio for scheduling classes during your work times. The studio owner doesn't know when you work. It's your job to check that out, probably before you buy a package.
I've taken Pilates classes with Jessica since 2009. She has given me private classes at the (lower) group rate when everyone else in the class cancelled, stayed late after class to answer all my questions, made videos for me of exercises to help me outside of studio hours, took time to talk to my physical therapist to make sure our Pilates classes would fit the protocol to help my back, remembered my birthday with a personal text, lent me books, taught me with a broken arm, helped me set up the seat in my car for a long trip so I wouldn't hurt my back, let me bring my mom to a session, stayed late to teach me when she had already taught 8 classes in a row because my back was in bad shape and I didn't know what to do, when I got cancer and had to take a break from classes she saved my classes for me so that they didn't expire, and when I was out of work she didn't charge me for classes. She can tell you the name of all my kids and my dog. This studio and the team here are a special kind of community. You will never find someone as caring as Jessica.

Over the past 5 years I have had 2 total hip replacements and now am 70 years old. Jessica/JSP has given me the ability through her excellent, extremely educated instruction, both private and semi provide, reformer and mat, to have the strength to return to my passions, classical ballet and walking. I now am able to take my 4 - 5 ballet classes weekly and walk my 3-5 miles daily, even backpacking! Jessica is not a sales woman, she's an instructor. Her knowledge of the human body and how to strengthen it amazes me continually after the 6 years I have taken classes with her. I am forever grateful to her for enlivening all those muscles, tendons, etc... that were "cut" during my operations and return to my passions. I strongly recommend her to help anyone get stronger. Of course, I had to do the work also. Really important to listen to her, and do the work correctly, which takes time and repitition. Healing is a process that takes time and ones own determination and "grit" to just do it:) THANK YOU Jessica!

Jessica Schultz is the most amazing Pilates teacher. She is a master teacher. She adjusts each exercise to work with what my body will do on that particular day. I have been training with Jessica weekly for over 10 years. I credit the pilates training with Jessica for allowing me to have the freedom of movement I have in this aging body. Go see Jessica, if you can. You (and your body) will be happy that you did!

Having just taken a "reformer" class in my travels that was more like boot camp than Pilates, I have to express my appreciation for Jessica. I've been taking Pilates for more than 10 years at different studios and nowhere else have I found the skill, the personal attention and encouragement, and the caring spirit that she offers. Although Pilates is a particular series of exercises, every class is different, and every one is a chance to increase one's strengh and skill. So glad I found her!

Jessica is so knowledgeable about body mechanics. I started coming to her studio about 10 years ago.
I am so much stronger than when I started. Her hour long classes are a mix of reformer, mat, sometimes chair and cadillac. It’s always interesting and challenging, keeping my brain and muscles guessing.
She and her team have helped me through many injuries, as well as tailoring the workouts to improve my chronic, work related issues. She is capable of doing this for multiple people in one class, making it so everyone feels safe and able to get the best possible workout for their ability and fitness level.

I have been a client at Jessica Schultz Pilates for at least 10 years. Maybe more! I have always enjoyed the classes. Jessica and her crew are friendly and professional. The classes are small and the teachers are trained to make modifications for injuries or tightness or hyper mobility and things I can barely pronounce. They know their stuff! Sometimes it's hard for me to get my body in there. (It's often a 30 minute drive +) But I NEVER wish I hadn't come. Body feels stretched and strengthened.

I am a Doctor of Physical Therapist in PDX. I have been a client of Jessica for over 6 years, started and continue my Pilates studies with Jessica and trust her with even my most challenging and delicate patients. I started doing Pilates after the birth of my first child and found it profoundly improved my back pain and joint stability. In just 6 months I was doing everything better and stronger - from road cycling to snowboarding to carrying around my children. Jessica Schultz is THE best instructor I’ve ever had. She is patient, knowledgeable, experienced and adaptable. She has been unbelievably generous in her teaching and time with me and all of her students and teachers. Pilates is worth the investment in your health!

I've been studying Pilates for over ten years with Jessica and have gone through all four levels of teacher's training. Jessica is one of the most knowledgeable, compassionate and caring individuals with whom I have ever had the honor of studying. Her understanding of the work is vast and she communicates extremely well
Although, I've gone through all four levels and am teaching in my own studio, I continue to study weekly with her because she is simply the best in the industry. Barbara Chapman

I was surprised at the negative experience that I had with Jessica. What seemed like friendliness at first quickly turned into gym membership salesman tactics.
Before I had signed up, I spoke with Jessica directly about enrolling in only mat classes, and that I have a need for physical therapy recovery due to an accident. I explained more than once before signing up that I wanted to do only mat classes and not reformer classes because I want to practice at home where I don't have a reformer. At first Jessica tried selling me on private sessions saying "she didn't get anything out of Pilates until she had done private sessions", and also recommended a couple of her coaches for group mat classes. I paid $100 for five group classes to try out the school since there's no other intro options. Later I discovered the limited availability of her mat classes, literally just three classes scheduled per week during work hours and all back to back (so no mat classes for 4-days straight). One week her instructor was not available, so over 3-weeks I was only able to attend 2 mat classes.
Jessica tried again and again to upsell me on her reformer classes "only $10 more than the mat class" even though I was explicitly repeating myself that I was only interested in mat classes. I asked for a refund on the unused funds for three classes that I haven't taken because I haven't been benefiting from the classes, said I'd be willing to work with refund minus processing fees etc. Jessica stopped responding altogether, I'm not expecting she's going to refund me either. If you're considering classes here I'd say consider the head instructor Jessica puts money before students benefiting from her classes.

I’ve been visiting Jessica for quite a while and feel so much stronger for it! As a middle aged runner, I’ve had fewer injuries and feel, with her help and advice, my technique has much improved. One can easily tell from her energy she loves teaching.

Most talented Pilates and higher level practice in Portland. Period. You will find a face that is warm and welcoming, a hug and a pre-thought out, with adjuncts as needed/desired, series of movements that leave you feeling long, lean, tall, light, opened up, cheerful, and light hearted. You personally will not find another Pilates, or otherwise, teacher as kind, polite, gentle, willing to allow you to take a journey as your body transforms, nor will you find one professionally that litterally orchestrates a symphony with your body.

I have been coming to Jessica's studio for 2 years. Before finding her, I was at another studio that did not meet my expectations. I love the individual attention that I receive at the studio. The pain that I had in my back is gone and I only do my home exercises about once or twice a week. My instructor, Elena, is awesome. She is very knowledgeable and always has good ideas about how to make my back feel better. She is funny, too. I have a duo every week but it feels like a private class. I highly recommend this studio. It is small and compact and not filled with a lot of equipment that you don't use or don't need to use. Glenda Chaite not Beau Russell.

I was in Portland for conferences and Jessica Schultz Pilates was awesome to schedule me for three private lessons so I could maintain my practice. Open evenings and easily the best rates I have ever seen at any Pilates studio!
I had a great experience working with Elena. She provides easy to follow calls and cues and pushed me just the right amount. The workout was varied and we worked with all the machines to help stretch my back. Super professional, super fun! If I am ever back in Portland, I have my Pilates studio.
