I joined 3 weeks ago. It is twice the cost of my last gym but I felt it would be worth it due to the hot tub. The hot tub worked for two days and has been closed ever since for maintenance. Lousy facility, lousy management, lousy staff.

So far "NOT" so good. My wife and I joined this location on Saturday simply because it is right next to our business. We wanted the flexibility of walking to the gym from our office. At this point, I am very glad I still have my membership with another company. So here is what has taken place. Saturday we walk in and ask for a tour. A nice guy walked us around "I wish I had paid better attention to the equipment". During the tour I asked him how heavy their free weight dumbells went and he said "145lbs". That was all I needed to hear. I agreed to sign up my wife and I. We sat down and did our paperwork with him. In the meantime, a trainer introduced himself and told us we get one complimentary appointment. We would do our measurements and weigh in with him. Then discuss a workout plan. I am a power lifter so I wasn't overly interested however, my wife was. We set our appointment with him for Monday at 7pm. He sent my wife a confirmation text while we were still there signing up. Now fast forward to Monday. I head to the gym to have my chest/tri day a around 5. I walk back to the free weights and I was immediately shocked. They only went up to 100lbs. The dumbells are also trashed. Mismatched sets with completely different grips. Rubber coatings peeling off. Disorganized and out of order. So I just went with it. After doing all my free weights I needed to do my cables. I walk over the the prehistoric cable towers and I can't find hand grips. No rack or table with ropes, handgrips or bars for the cables. I asked another guy working out where a the cable accessories were. He literally laughed and said "good luck bro, they only have one set of hand grips in the whole building. A few shitty ropes and bars". His exact words were unfortunately very true. So I finally track down the "2" handgrips and complete my workout. And just FYI the benches, weights and machines are OLD...like came over on the Mayflower old. I now head back to my office. We worked late until our 7pm appointment. We walk over at 6:45. I see the trainer and say hi and let him know we were there early. He had no clue who we were at first and then said "oh you didn't text me back to confirm our appointment". We were both so confused since we set the appointment with him in person. I said "I am sorry, I didn't realize you needed us to text you back. Could we still keep our appointment?". He straight up said no, he is by appointment only and we would need to reschedule. I was blown away. We just simply walked away. My wife wanted to stay and do cardio, so we stuck around until about 7:45. And this really boiled my blood..... that trainer stood around talking on his phone. He didn't even have another appointment booked. As we were leaving, he was still on his phone. He saw us walking towards him and quickly turned and walked away from us. Now let's discuss what happened today. I miss a phone call. No idea who it is. So I call the number back. It's LA Fitness. A woman answered and I said "oh, I didn't realize this was LA Fitness, I just missed a call from you guys". She said "yeah, so do you need something?". I said "no, I was just returning your call". She then just hung up on me! Yep.....she flipping hung up on me. After she hung up, I noticed they had actually left a VM. This place is so clueless that they actually left a message saying "yeah, we see you came in for a tour and would like to offer you a 7day guest pass to try us out". Lol they seriously didn't even look in the system to see I just gave them $189 on Saturday to sign up. My wife and I are completely turned off by the condition of this gym and the staff. I am really considering parting ways. Oh sorry....I better rephrase that for the highly educated staff... what I mean is "I am like totally gonna cancel bro"

The gym is super dusty as if nobody has ever cleaned it. The locker room is just average and sometimes dirty. The pool when it is open is decent but generally set up for lap swim only. I have heard of a lot of people getting there stuff stolen from here and makes me not want to leave my belongings in there from now on. They are nice however at the desk and I get in using my buddy's guest pass. I doubt this place would be worth it for me to get an actual pass myself. I hear people get overcharged and can't cancel membership. I would not pay for one myself after learning all this.The weight room is also always super crowded and weights look old. An finally the biggest thing the hot tub is DOWN for MAINTENANCE like seriously half the time. Last time for weeks.

The last time I went to the whirlpool there was a diaper sitting in the corner. This morning, I went to swim, and I noticed a smashed cockroach behind a sign taped to the glass door. The men's shower area smells like pee and there's abandoned underwear littering the showers along with used wadded up paper towels that people have been using as washcloths. I am out.

Terrible equipment, the dumbells are mismatched and some of them are so worn down that the entire metal part is exposed. There are never any sanitary wipes available. I've been working out at Later Fitness 5 days a week and it’s easily one of the best gyms I’ve been a part of. The facility is a great size—not too packed, but big enough to offer everything I need. The equipment is clean, up-to-date, and well-maintained.

I love that they have a full-court gym, a pool, handball courts, and a sauna—which is perfect for winding down after a tough workout. The staff is always friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere every time I walk through the doors.

They’re also getting ready to start Pilates classes soon, which I’m really looking forward to. If you're looking for a solid gym with a variety of amenities and a good vibe, I definitely recommend checking out Later Fitness!

They've been having trouble with the hot tub so I was diligent in calling ahead I asked the Man twice if they were open and he assured me they were.. so I got on a bus spent money and time and got here and they were closed.. but oh hey I got a t-shirt and a freaking water bottle for my 20 years of paying for service here...

The girl in the front is very rude, and they don't have someone to show non-english speakers how to use the machines, especially the elder ladies that go there. 1/29 have talked to staff and maintence has "claimed" to fix it twice. The sauna has only been operational 1 day this month so far

2/10/25: still no wipes for equipment. Spoke to Manager “Jenny” who didn’t really seem to care lol. Asked to talk about it because I was considering cancelling and she just cancelled my membership without another word. Don’t use this gym.
2/9/25: still none.
2/8/25: still no wipes as of noon today. All boxes empty. If you ask the front desk they say they’re out. This has been going on all week.

Have been loving this gym since I joined last October, but recently it’s gone extremely downhill. The wipes for the machines have been running out by 5pm (sometimes earlier) daily and no one replaces them even if you ask. Employees pay no mind as high school boys drag the weight benches over into areas they don’t belong and leave them there. The step machines have a sticky residue on the steps that never gets cleaned off week after week. The employees clearly allow homeless people to walk in without passes, and they often linger for hours in the locker rooms making people uncomfortable.

This week the hot tub has been broken without any expressed plan to fix it. Since the hot tub was the only reason I selected this gym over the many local gyms, I don’t know why I continue to use this gym.

This LA fitness is the best one in Portland by far. Best layout, most space, most number of machines. AND the CLEANEST gym I’ve been to in Portland. They are literally always cleaning. Complaint against LA Fitness in Portland, Oregon, located at 4140 SE 82nd Ave, Portland, OR 97266.

Dear Sir/Madam!

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding an incident that occurred at LA Fitness in Portland, Oregon.

On 01/20/2025, my locker at the gym was broken into, even though it was locked with my own padlock. All of my belongings were stolen, including:
• Cash
• Credit cards
• Identification cards (licensees, IDs)
• Car keys
• My clothes and shoes
In addition, my car, which was parked outside the gym, was also stolen.

What further added to my frustration was the lack of support from LA Fitness management in resolving the issue. The only help I received was advice to call the police. Additionally, there was no support or meaningful cooperation.

I was also shocked to discover that there are no security cameras in the gym or parking lot, making it impossible to identify the perpetrators or prevent similar incidents in the future.

I also learned that another person at the gym was also the victim of a theft that same day. This person also had their personal belongings stolen, including credit cards, cash, and other items. This is a systemic issue that raises serious concerns for the safety of LA Fitness customers.

I find this situation completely unacceptable for a facility that advertises itself as a safe fitness environment. The lack of basic safety measures, the staff's indifference to resolving the issue, and the complete lack of accountability fall far below acceptable standards of service.

I respectfully request the following:
1. A written explanation of the gym's security policies and the lack of security cameras.
2. A refund of my membership dues due to the gym's failure to provide a safe environment.
3. Consideration of compensation for stolen property.

I reserve the right to address this issue to law enforcement agencies, consumer protection agencies and legal entities if I do not receive a proper response to this complaint.

Please take this issue seriously and send a response to this complaint.
In the future, for people planning to visit this gym, choose a safe place to exercise.

I honestly don't know why people rate this place so low- it's in a great location, very affordable, clean, and well managed. The staff are great, there are plenty of machines and free weights, the amenities are awesome and the hours are good too. I have been going to different gyms for over 20 years and this one is right near the top of them. I had low expectations but they've all been blown away.

My spouse was robbed at this gym, they took his backpack which has all his clothes, including shoes, jacket ect while he was in the pool area. It was freezing out and he had to go home with bare feet in his swim suit. The nice kid at the front desk sympathized with him but told him they had no cameras and there wasn’t much they could do.

Updating to four stars for the women's locker room getting new shower curtains and being cleaner. However, the chlorine in the hot tub is still so strong it makes your eyes burn just to sit in it.

*** I like the gym because of the wide range of equipment and amenities including pool, hot tub, dry sauna, cardio, racquetball courts, basketball court, bike room, studio, free weights, weights machines and training area.

My only complaint is the cleanliness. A lot of the weight machines are rusty and the pool area is very rusty and the pool in heavily chlorinated. It burns your eyes just to sit in the hot tub because the chlorine is so strong.

The women's showers really need to be re-grouted and deep cleaned especially the ceiling tiles are extremely dirty, the shower curtains are covered in mold and rust and the bathroom stalls are very dingy. A deep clean would really take this gym from 3 to 5 stars.

Coming back to update this review. They've made some equipment upgrades since my last review and I'm overall happy with them. Two changes I'd like to see. Benches could be upgraded to independently adjusted seat and back. Second, more squat racks. They are the highest demand pieces of equipment and at normal capacity are often full.

I wanted to write a review on my experience with this club. I was in town briefly for a 3 month work assignment and signed up with a gym membership and training membership having explained I would only be there for that time. I was told when I signed up that when I moved I would be able to get out of the training membership contract. When I moved, however, I was told that I could not be released from the contract as OR has no such policy for voiding a training contract. In essence they lied to me and now I have to pay $240 monthly for a service I have no access to. There are no clubs near where I live and I have reached out to customer service without reply. Overall I have found LA Fitness as an organization to be unscrupulous, immoral, and dishonest.

One of my favorites LA locations. They have equipment that other LA Gyms don’t have. It’s very well spaced out. Also they have a smoothie/drink bar. Something I’ve never seen in other gyms.

Working out here is fine but the amount of work you have to do to simply cancel your membership is bazar. There are no options to cancel online or in person. you are stuck paying $34 until you mail in a paper that just says "I'm cancelling my account." I would not recommend this gym.

Incompetent management and be careful of theft incidents. I accidentally left my swimming suit and goggle in the gym after leaving, so my partner called them and have my stuff stored with the front desk. We went back to retrieve them after a few hours, and unbelievably our stuff was gone - they couldn’t find the bag they stored for us.

The WiFi at the facility is horrible. Literally couldn't complete a guided workout on yesterday at this location due to the WiFi being horrid and not working properly.

Closed on a Friday due to “snow” all other major businesses open in the surrounding area. I could understand opening later like 10am but cmon guys. At least provide when it will be open next and update it online. Only snowed for one night.

The pool is open, sparkling, each lane with a 🏊‍♀️. I shared the larger lane for 1/2 my swim, then had it to myself. The water was warm enough to be comfortable right away.

Once again, nobody has shown up to open at 8:00am on a weekend morning. This happens ALL THE TIME. Usually, after 20 minutes, everyone waiting outside in the cold gives up and leaves.

I really like this gym, but I am not a big fan of the remodel. It reminds me of a planet fitness gym with being crammed next to people when trying to workout. The personal training area is cool, but many people don’t use it and it is empty more than not. I just feel like I can’t breathe when trying to workout, but I do enjoy the pool and hot tub after a long day. The manager Liam helped me open my account and is very very nice! Every time I saw him there he would say hi and was very friendly. The lady who cancels the memberships was not as friendly and actually rude lol

The gym seems adequate in almost every aspect except the reason I joined two months ago. I came here to shoot indoor basketball in the winter months but the court has only ever been half open due to an intractable roof leak which they seem to have no timeline for fixing. Each time I show up hoping there's been some progress, there's no news and the single available hoop has a 4v4 going or too many people practicing. Guess I'll go shoot somewhere else.

This location is the cats pajamas... It's the bees knees ... It's the cats meow. I think I've said enough for anyone reading this review trying to find out whether or not they should make the time and effort into attending this particular location. Every person on staff is the epitome of professionalism and seemingly people who actually enjoy their job.

Come to this gym if you want your things to get stolen. Also dont bother to pay for a membership, the young ladies at front desk are busy playing on their phones or not there at all so anyone can enter and skip checkin in. They have no security cameras. Someone easily entered and cut my lock and stole my phone and other things from the locker. Another guy got his wallet stolen the same way. Gym doesnt care and takes no responsibility.

The wifi has been out for weeks and there is no cell service inside. So if you follow a workout on apple plus or anything else that requires a connection, go somewhere else. I’ve asked every time I go in about it and I can’t seem to get an answer of when it will be fixed. I don’t think it will be anytime soon. It’s really freaking annoying.

I’m a member since 3/2021, and just went there for couple days and having kids, then stopped going there for a while and still paying for the monthly membership. I came to there to cancel my membership, they just put it to freeze for 6 months. Becauce they DONT have online cancel. Crazy thing I never saw in any others services. And last week I came one more to cancel. And one of the staff helped me , asked for my phone number, name, and said good to go. Then I left. Few days after, they charged me again for the membership fee. Today I came to them and they checked and said my membership is not canceled yet. And can’t refund even they made mistake. They just don’t like helping me in any situation. Just gave me the customer service number. And still talking around. Not solved my problem . Bullshi.t. I think each staff earn some profits when they do that

I just rejoined to the club lately due to my job. Fortunately, I met Timothy who is personal trainer. In two free sessions I have learned a lot of techques and things that I will be aware of during working out period. In fact, because of my conflict schedules of my work, I can't keep up with him otherwise he will be a great trainer for the long run. If you want to find a good trainer for you to get a better shape, I highly and strongly recommened coming and talk to Tim. He knew what he is talking. You won't be disappointed

New remodel looks nice, but I question their use of the space by cramming all the machines closer to create an area for turf that seems rarely used.

Also, cleanliness is a big issue. The mens showers are gross and in massive need of a good scrubbing. Sadly that prevents me from wanting to use the pool or suana. I tried telling staff, but they seem more interested in socializing with their colleagues or playing on their phones.

It was extremely easy to create my membership at LA Fitness, extremely hard to cancel my membership. When I wanted to cancel my membership over the phone, they told me that I had to come into the gym in person to do so. I mentioned that I have recently got the news that I am immunocompromised and was trying to limit exposure to people and would like to do it over the phone. I was then transferred to the manager, who then told me that I still needed to come in to cancel my membership. I was told this at 5:15pm. I end up going to the gym at 6pm to cancel my membership in person since this was my only option. The person at the front desk told me that he could not cancel my membership and the only person that could would be the manager who is only there till 5pm. The same manager I talked to at 5:15, who told me to come in in person, not saying anything about certain hours I would need to come in! Totally wasted my time.

It is pretty clear that they make it as hard as possible to cancel a membership. It’s too bad that businesses like LA fitness have a business model that makes most of their money from people who subscribe to their services who don’t actually use their services. They have systems in place, like this one, to ensure that. I don’t generally make time to run errands during the work day, as is true with many people. They know most of their business is in the early mornings and later evenings. To their convenience, these are the times where you cannot cancel your membership.

I think the gym had good equipment that brought value to my life while I was using the service, but little things like this leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

I recently started at this gym. My first impressions are not very good. The gym itself is basic... Nothing to different from planet fitness, other than they have a pool. The workers oh the workers...or shall I say the girl at the front desk. Her job is basically customer service I at least Think so anyways. She is not helpful. She is always on her phone and when you ask if someone can show you around her response is, its a one floor facility machines are over there. Hmm OK... What about someone who is new and not comfortable as it is. Its intimidating to start at a gym. A little help would be greatly appreciated. Just know if you know nothing about a gym or machines, its gonna be a hard embarrassing road to go. This is why new people including myself stay at the treadmills and ellipticals. When we really want to lift weights but dont know the first thing about it.

The new renovation is trash and just makes it even more socially awkward being at the gym. It kinda gave me anxiety. They put in a new turf field and took away the mirrors by the pool area. The turf field is in the middle of the gym we’re everything faces towards it and I personally think a lot of people used those mirrors by the pool area not only for working out but as motivation to keep going and being able to look at themselves/ progress while doing so. The renovation looks more aesthetically pleasing than anything.

I have been going here for years mainly due to the space you had. Was excited to see the remodel but that was short lived. Now the equipment is closer together and numerous machines are now facing each other, making it awkward staring at the person across from while working out. Some of the machines are gone now that I used to use, but they made a big open space with turf on it that nobody was using so juat feels like a 24 hr fitness, which if I wanted that id go back to it. Unknown if will continue
