Decent enough gym and I enjoy climbing here. However, I am leaving a poor review as I bought 4 punch passes as a gift and didn't carefully read the fine print and they expired in a few months. I'm not sure that's legal or not, but definitely a poor business practice.

Beware, once you become a member you need to cancel your membership online 5 days before the start of the next month. But the captcha test is broken and the system will not let you submit your cancellation. I have been unable to get a response from management and fear I will be charged despite my efforts to cancel my membership. Would love to hear back from movement on this.

I had given them a 5 star rating two years ago, but because their service has changed I am updating my rating.
Was a member here for two years, I've been struggling with an injury since November. They are not flexible with injuries even if you have proof from a doctor. The facility is great, but it is expensive and I had a pass expire because of my injury. They will not allow me to use it unless I sign up as a member which I can't afford anymore because they have increased their rates twice in the last two years. I love climbing, but I am disappointed in their lack of flexibility even when they asked us to keep paying during their gym closures in 2020 (which I did to support them). I'm disappointed that they can't extend that support back to their long standing members, especially for a day pass.

Great environment to simply climb or to safely test yourself against something more challenging. The bouldering walls, weights and cardio equipment let you round out the fitness dimensions if you wish. Bonus beta - if you find just the right time of day and week, you can virtually have the walls to yourself!

Excellent rock gym. Great walltopia walls and space for all kinds of stuff. Staff is super helpful (ty Bronson). The sauna and showers are very, very good. small locker boxes in the climbing area are a nice touch I haven't seen in PG or movement gyms. Fun routes and decent lead area.

I took an intro bouldering class and it was enormous fun. The introductory climbs were varied and challenging enough.
The facility as a whole is well maintained and laid out, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
I'm looking forward to going back in the future.

Love this gym. Setting is great. They have everything I need for training. In a year of working out here, the kilter board has always worked. The staff are friendly and helpful. It gets a little hot and humid in the summer, but that's Portland 😊

Really well graded routes. No sandbagging maybe a few were graded one higher than they should be but that's to be expected in indoor gyms. Overall the gym is nice staff is really friendly. I only wish the movement would allow their gyms to have auto belay so those that are traveling don't need to find partners to climb.

Shower Review: this gym has decent showers. The showers provide you with complimentary soaps and towels and there is also a dry spa if you are into that. The showers provide stalls have a locking door (a favorite feature of mine) and have a hook on the door for essentials that is above the water line as well as a shelf to put your own cleaning supplies (razor, glasses, personal soaps, etc). There are only two complaints I have both of which are fairly minor. The bigger complaint is that there are no dedicated changing rooms. I ended up changing in the space just outside the shower since it is arround the corner from the rest of the locker room. My husband opted to change in the shower itself (fine when it’s dry but if it was already wet from a previous user…) The only other complaint I have is about the water pressure. It’s not great. Good enough to get clean but you are never sure if all the soap is off. Idk, maybe a pet peeve. My husband also reported changing stalls because one of them just never got hot. That all being said, it was a pleasant shower experience at a fun gym.

Hmm. I’m going to give as honest of a review as I can here. The bouldering setting is not very good. There are a few climbs that are fun, but as soon as you hit v4 it is 90% incredible boring crimp ladders. It’s just boring. The spray wall is the only fun part of the gym for me at my v6/7 grade. The holds are also disgusting. There was so much caked on chalk it was chipping away while climbing. The exercise portion of the gym is five stars but the climbing portion is 1 star so I give it 3 stars.

Decided to stop in while visiting the Portland area and were blown away - staff were super friendly and helpful, the available routes offered a fair progression in difficulty and diversity in style and the facility itself was truly world class. I’ve been a member for most of the last 2.5yrs and I love a lot about this gym- excellent weightlifting facility, good route setting, good sauna, friendly staff.
I will say however, as primarily a Boulderer: the pace of new route setting is painfully slow. Way slower than any other modern gym I’ve attended regularly.
As other recent reviews reflected, the closure of the entire bouldering section for three weeks was poorly communicated and left me unable to climb for almost a month. And then when it reopened NO new problems were set.
As of today, only one section in bouldering has been reset since October 3rd, and I’m pretty sure some problems are still up from early august.
This shit getting stale, y’all.

We were introduced to Movement when we enrolled our son in their afterschool program. It’s a friendly and welcoming place with really great instructors. The whole place has a great vibe. Within a couple of months we were all climbing and now have a family membership. We’re excited each and every time we go. There are routes for everyone and they switch them out all the time. Oh and great events too - like the Halloween climb in the dark (with candy hidden along the routes) and Thai stretch and massage class. We just love it.

In my 10 years of climbing this is one of the best gyms I’ve been to. The route setting is great with a lot of beginner friendly routes and plenty of challenging ones. They have been starting to add more 12+ and 13’s on top rope which I appreciate. The routes get reset frequently enough. The weightlifting area has everything you could need. Yoga and fitness classes are phenomenal and staff have always been incredibly friendly and helpful. Honestly I feel like the negative reviews are unfair and picky

Google says 3/5 means 'it's ok', and that's exactly how I feel. When I first started going, I thought the setting was pretty cool, fairly hard, and unique. I've been here for 4 months now and most of the gym has only been reset once or not at all. Now that it's winter, it's uncomfortable cold in the gym. I have to wear full pants, shirt, sweatshirt, sometimes a beanie, and put on my jacket during rests. The membership is pretty pricey, especially for very minimal resetting and a freezing gym. It's incredibly crowded on the week nights but I think that's normal for most gyms. The weight room is decent for a climbing gym.

The bouldering gym has been closed for two weeks now and they've been constantly stringing us along with promises about reopening some sections "soon". The latest was when they claimed they'd be opening up some sections by the end of last week in response to other reviews. This did not happen. Now they're saying some sections will open Wednesday evening (along with some "surprises") but we'll see if that's just another lie. I hope whatever lame surprises they are planning don't involve taking away time on our projects after keeping us from them for weeks.
Communication around this issue has been poor. They put up signs beforehand but it wasn't clear that they intended to shut down the entire bouldering gym. They claim to have sent emails but I'm on their email list and never received any. No one I've talked to has either.
Movement showed they are just a big corporate chain that is happy to screw over their members and are too cheap to compensate or refund us for not being able to use the facility. I'll never be able to see this place the same way again and will not be recommending the gym to others anymore.

Bouldering gym is closed and nothing is up on their website about it. No refund or notice given to paid members. Horrible customer service.
Never received an email. Again no reply to request for refund for the month I cannot use the gym. It's still not posted anywhere on their website.
If you can't provide the service people are paying for refund them their money. It's that simple. While they've now taken the time to respond to this negative review, they continue to ignore my request for a refund.

I canceled my membership after 2 years because of my last experience. After walking in at the end of gorgeous day, not even 75 degrees out, I asked a staff member about opening the garage window which is a small rollup window on the roof line because the environment was cold and stale. The staff member I spoke to was rude and dismissive at my request and unwilling to open any windows because they had their AC on. I suspect I wasn't the only one asking. The bouldering gym Circuit is willing to open windows, the staff is friendly, welcoming and respectful of their customers.

I've only been twice so far, so I am a complete newbie. While I can't offer any advice on the technical stuff, I can tell you why I love it here so far. There are two main things: exceptional staff and awesome vibe. I've been on a Saturday and Tuesday evening - while pretty busy at times, everyone here is really chill and you don't ever feel like you're being crowded around. The space is huge and so far everyone here is cool. The staff (shout out to Mahren) are so kind, friendly and listen with open ears. Mahren is such an excellent teacher, patient and so effortlessly explains all the details for learning how to belay. As my arms and legs gain more power, I can't wait to come back here again and again. :)

I’ve been a member with movement for over a year now. I’ve always tried to bring people to movement because rock climbing is such a fun way to exercise. I brought my sister in law for the second time with a guest pass. She was considering joining the rock gym as well. We did top rope most of the day and i convinced her to try bouldering. We put our harnesses in the storage are and went bouldering. When were finished she returned her rental gear and we left. It turns out she accidentally returned my harness instead of the rental. I placed my shoes and the rental harness in my car (not knowing it was the rental)
A month passes by and I go back to the rock Gym and realise that my harness felt weird when I put it on and noticed her belay card was on the harness. I brought it to the staffs attention when they quickly took the harness and started looking for mine. My harness had a belay card and climbing glasses attached to it. After they couldn’t find the harness I showed them a picture of it with the card and glasses and card. Somehow they managed to have my glasses and not my harness. The glasses can only be removed by unclipping them from the harness. The clip was not damaged it was lost in their care and the glasses were removed.
I was told they could’ve donated it because they donated unclaimed after 4-6week. I returned for it at exactly 4 weeks so that shouldn’t have happened.
Belay car was attached to the harness.. they call everyone when items are left. I received no phone call.
All I was offered was a 20% discount at their shop… it’s 20% off for Memorial Day weekend anyway? But not really a discount
I was offered a month of free rental… which puts me out of a harness still.
I asked to keep the rental that I brought back to them and they said no they have to throw it out and can’t let me keep that.
Finally I found my harness online for $32 and I asked if I could just get that money back for a monthly payment credit and the manager refused. I’m disappointed with how this is handled. I’d understand if I left it somewhere at the gym and someone picked it up that’d be my fault. But it was left on the counter where rental items are returned. After a year of a membership at $1,200 a year you'd think that’d mean more than a $32 credit. But they’d rather lose a loyal customer.

Definitely my favorite climbing gym of the dozen or so I've been to
I'm a v4 climber with 1 year experience. These route setters are my favorite cause they hit the perfect balance of everything. There's a large variety of routes that are interesting, challenging, test different skills, safe, and above all fun.
The gym is very clean, staff is awesome, there's a strong emphasis on safety. I love the music they play, the gym equipment is all in excellent condition, and the sauna is perfect for recovery.

Nice gym. Tons of space. Most of the easy routes (10- and below) are pretty basic jug hauls. They get better in the 11s range and up. Grades are a bit soft, even for a gym. No auto belays probably because the routes are pretty much on top of each other. People are really courteous though. Plenty of crack training available. Tons of blouldering available, though I haven't done much. Overall a pretty decent gym, would recommend.

My husband and I have frequented Movement a handful of times for day passes and have always had a great experience. They really have the logistics and vibe of climbing dialed in.
In particular, yesterday we wanted to get certified to lead climb and were helped by Aloe and Rachel to do so. I was a bit nervous for the climbing portion of the test and they both calmed my nerves a lot (without really even meaning too I think!) I just want to give a shout out to both of them for their kindness and thoroughness!

This was such a lovely climbing gym. We were just here for bouldering today, but the roped section looked amazing as well. As for bouldering, there were a great number and variety of problems, so even after two hours there were still lots in my range that I didn’t have the chance to try, plus it never felt crowded. The extended bouldering wall over the slope is such a cool design feature too. The two friends I brought bouldering for the first time really enjoyed it as well! This place reminds me of Vertical world in Seattle. This place has a decent gym area. It is cleaner than all the Seattle metro bouldering and top rope gyms ( edgeworks , sbp, vertical world). This place has a lot of lead climbing for sure. For serious boulder peeps, this place could use more "angle walls".
Street parking around the pearl. My friend and I parked couple of blocks away.
I took a class there and since I toprope and Boulder before, it wasn't bad. The class size is 4 people. The price of the class wasn't bad, $30, in Seattle it is like $45/$50. I would say the class was a 6.5/10.
However, the membership price here feels high for Portland.

I’ve have been in many bouldering gyms. Only this one has a paid parking 2.20 per hour. They do not have a parking you park on the street.
Also, I found here pretty small bouldering area. This gym for 1-2 days to do all 2 levels of climbing. If you do a sport climbing this gym fits better but for bouldering it sucks. On the picture you can see all bouldering walls the have. Probably like 6-8 routes each level.
Holds extremely greasy. In LA the same chain gym much better for bouldering.
No area for kids, they train with adults. Heavily crowded on weekends.
I suggest do not buy monthly pass through here. Try it first. I went two times only because of here nothing to do for boulder’s.

For reference, TR grades seemed about two full letter grades harder than Bay Area Touchstone gyms. Most walls are nice and tall, too. Wish there was a week pass or 3-pack option. I'll definitely be back every time I'm visiting family up here!
UPDATE: also got to boulder. Setting is also good and interesting, ramp is super fun. About a full grade harder than Bay Area Touchstone gyms.

Really great rock climbing gym. Actually pretty affordable for day passes and rentals. Facilities are clean and staff are friendly and helpful. I believe there's only street parking.
Beware of trying to boulder when there's a kid's club event happening, it gets very crowded.

This place is amazing! I've been coming in 3 (sometimes 4) times per week for last two months or so and it's become my favorite part of the day. The facility as a whole is clean and bright with lots of windows. The staff are all super friendly and helpful.
The lead and top-rope walls are fantastic and the setting is thoughtful and creative. There a several different sized and adjustable cracks to hop on as well! It tends to get quite busy in the rush hours from 5-8pm and can mean waiting a few minutes to hop on your project.
The bouldering area is also top-notch! Lots of training areas and fun variation in terrain. Being able to practice topping out is a nice benefit. The long cave with the padded slide is a great addition.
The yoga and fitness classes are all wonderful! Brittney and Rachel both bring killer energy, helpful adjustments, and great soundtracks to their morning strength classes. Highly recommend! Lorenzo's yoga classes are great for getting your alignment right!
The sauna is amazing for relaxing or meditating after a great workout and getting warmth deep into your bones before going out into the cold. Plus, the towel service is wildly convenient!

I’ve been going here for 3 years now! Awesome crew, routes are changing constantly, the yoga classes are rewarding (Lisa’s 12pm power flow is my new favorite), and the workout gym is pretty expansive. Not to mention they have a sauna 👀 this is the kind of climbing gym that makes you feel at home. No complaints. Also if the price is making you weary, know that this gym is the best I’ve ever experienced with having enough experiences staff to man the desk, teach classes, help certify new belayers, constantly set new routes, keep the facilities spotless, and somehow have enough time for good conversation too. Other gyms may be cheaper, but this gym puts in the work and you get what i feel is the best value for your money and time.

Great, high quality climbing gym with a sauna, a ton of fun and challenging routes, and a lot of space. Exceptional yoga classes and a solid gym. Overall a fun-loving and friendly atmosphere you can bring your friends to and get a very solid workout.

Have been climbing here almost a year. It is a safe, fun and challenging gym. The staff is attentive and helpful. The routes are routinely reset. They have recently started setting "route of the month". The first two have been the most interesting and fun routes I have done there, good job to the setters.

A little expensive for drop in, etc. But it is a BEAUTIFUL facility. Full workout area, lots to climb, sauna in the change rooms and well maintained showers I’d actually use. Lots to climb and friendly staff. Would recommend! (Grading might be a little on the easier side though…)

A great gym. Holds have tons of friction, tall routes, ropes, bouldering, sauna, yoga, and fitness. Be weary of the gumbies, there seem to be a lot of new folks who aren’t aware of climbing etiquette for safety. Can get busy M-Th weeknights. Generally ok Fri and weekends. Tuesday is often the busiest. Can ask the front desk to set you up with a TR or lead partner.

In my opinion movement sets the standard for what climbing gyms should be nowadays. The facilities are always very clean, The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable, And they're always turning over walls so that there are new climbs. If I had to complain about anything from movement it would definitely be the cost of A-day pass. Coming in at $24 This seems a bit steep for or a climbing gym, But this also seems to be close to industry standard. I would highly recommend skipping the daily pass and going straight for the monthly membership if you think you're gonna climb you're gonna climb 3 to 4 times a month. Or I guess you could just work there, get pro deals, and then climb for free; But then you would have to deal with birthday parties, kids camps, and customers complaining about the music. I take it back just get the membership.

Solid bouldering route setting. Power Yoga has been really stellar. Haven't spent much time on top roping or lead climbing yet but seem good. Honestly really impressed and would highly recommend with caveats free parking is 2 -4 blocks away under not ideal bridge and a little more expensive but I would recommend over other rock gyms which I have spent a fair amount each.

This spot has friendly front desk staff and lots of options for climbing and bouldering. They play fun music, have workout spaces, sauna and decent changing room and lockers. I really loved that they celebrated Pride month and had a "queer prom night" with dancing upstairs. Really fun and social.

My partner and I love this gym! It's where we first learned to climb, and we've made it a weekly destination for climbing for the past 3 years. The instructors and staff are all super-friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. They genuinely want you to have the best climbing experience regardless of your skill level. The routes are fun, plentiful, and challenging, and they get reset regularly so you're never bored. We've really been spoiled by all the good times at PG (it's still PG in my heart). We're planning to move out of state this fall, and we're truly going to miss this place!

The people here are the most welcoming and kindest crew I’ve met in Portland. If you want to try out bouldering, COME HERE. This gym is so welcoming to newcomers, and the culture is so warm and helpful. I fell on my first day bouldering, and the response here is why I cannot recommend Movement enough. Strangers helped me get to the front desk, and the staff were so helpful and attentive while I waited for someone to pick me up.
Matt’s intro to bouldering class was super informative and fun, and Riley at the front desk kept checking on me after my fall. I’ll 100% be back when I’m healed up!

Loved my first visit! Great facility, very clean with a lot of variety and range! Top rope and bouldering, plus a gym and yoga studio. Tons of room and routes to climb! They even call over the intercom to help you find a partner if you don’t have one. The only thing I with they had don’t differently was to physically walk me around more and show me the gym and explain classes, etc. There wasn’t really a tour, just signing the waiver, doing necessary tests, and a brief overview of where to find what.

So I love this place. Best gym climbing around! However!!! Whoever is responsible for the music needs to be fired, not actually fired, the staff is amazing, but fired from the DJ booth. Ha-ha trying to climb some sweet nar nar while listening to, what I can only describe as the soundtrack to a 1920’s love story, is quite hindering to my performance 😂😂. Now, I appreciate the slow jams of Enya's “May it be” as much as the next person, just not while doing an intense physical activity. Even with this, I would never remove a star to the review. This place is amazing and employs truly outstanding people! Just please, for the love of the climbing gods, play something more upbeat over the stereo.

We had a wonderful tour today of this amazing facility! Movement is enormous! I would say even intimidatingly huge to us novices. Keagan was absolutely wonderful, warm, and incredibly patient with all our questions... And I had a lot of them. They were a real gem and made us feel welcomed and included from the first moment we arrived to when we left. We decided to go for a membership and we are really looking forward to our climbing experiences here!!!

They are trying to collect money long after membership expired, claiming that it was a suspension fee from the pandemic. Despite two things:
One) They claimed suspension fees were nullified during the pandemic closures.
Two) They wouldn't let you reactivate your account without paying your suspension fees.
