My family wanted to become a member of this gym and over the summer my daughter and her friend wanted to swim. I guess you would call her a manger said if I pay the fee that would be fine. Well with attitude she said they needed an adult to watch then swim, since I wasn’t a member. If we’d were members they could swim on their own. They are 15 year olds. Not a big deal, it was the way the staff and manager went about it. It was a pretty easy decision after that. Their hours are not good for a gym that’s is super expensive. So cacasde was better decision four my family

I like this gym. Same group of regulars and friendly staff. Been working out here for about two years. Just realized they close very early on the weekends. Life gets in the way sometimes and I really wanted to spend my evening at the gym on this particular day. My only complaint is the weekend hours. Closing at 6 pm feels too early. Would love to see hours return to pre-COVID times so members can fit in evening workouts.

Place sucks. Ridiculous to cancel your membership you have to go to the website, and write them a letter explaining why you want to cancel.
Not sure why I need to explain myself. This should be as simple as calling.
Not to mention it’s 15$ to bring someone with you: and $15 for CHILDREN TOO.
Look around at other gyms. This place sucks.

Great place for the whole family. Outside pool during the summer with three slides, one designed for younger children, inside pool, 2hot-tubs inside and outside, steam-room and sauna.
Fully equipped with weights and equipment, snack bar, and they even serve beer.

Been coming here around 5 times a week for a while. My girlfriend has been coming here for years. Come in on a Saturday to hit Chest. Go to the back area of the gym where all the benches are. Music Is so loud we can't talk to each other and can hear the music through our noise cancelling earbuds. The same earbuds I use for hearing protection when working construction. Girlfriend is getting super overstimulated from the music. I go and ask if they could please turn the music down it's way too loud by the benches. "No sorry that would turn it down for the rest of the gym". Girlfriend ends her workout and goes grocery shopping because of how loud the music is. If the music is anything more than a background noise with no earbuds in it is too loud. This seriously ticked me off, I understand if the staff want to listen to music while working at the front desk but they need an independent system they can control the sound of. No one wants to hear the gym music through their earbuds while working out. Even worse when the music was very depressing. She's been a loyal member for years, this should not have happened. I am more than willing to change or remove the review if the issue is fixed.

Price gouger. Tried to just cancel my daughter membership since she was moving away. Asked me to come in to handle the cancellation only to tell me I would have to pay another $50 to start me membership over again. They couldn’t just take her off the membership.

I get it i have teenage boys. I get it. I know they are not the best. I know they broke the rules, but when I come in to talk about it. Don't tell me how to be a parent or how to do parenting. I will handle child. Telling me how to parent is crossing the line.

Good yoga classes, gym equipment is new as of this week. I really like it here but the pool area needs some extra attention. It is Sandy's Teen Daycare. Some of them are good kids, just staring at their phones or actually working out. But many of them are running around, being teens...its kind of annoying because this is a gym...not an arcade. I love the pool amenities but we don't enjoy it as much because of the teens. Signs on the wall say no jumping, splashing, screaming, diving, etc. The teens do all of that and more. I've left early because its just not relaxing and when I'm in the hot tub, I don't want to hear kids screaming. The volume is loud in the indoor pool area due to the sound bouncing off the walls. A lot of the community buy memberships for 3 months for the summer only, the pool is overcrowded. I've shown up to the pool just to turn around and leave because there is just no room. They let the little kids jump in the pool too and the parents don't seem to understand that it is not enjoyable when your kids are doing that. The staff could do better and the parents need to control their kids better. This is not that kind of pool. If you want your kids to run and scream, take them to a waterpark...this is not your waterpark...I guess the pool slides say otherwise but still. If you want a good gym with classes, then this will be the spot. If you want to relax poolside in the Summer, go to the river. It's quieter.

I plumbed this place 20 years ago and recently moved to Sandy so I said well let’s go ahead and sign up. Gave them a phone call and they sounded nice on the phone and said come on down and we’ll show you around. Wife and I gathered our gym clothes and headed down. Arrived to see three ladies doing nothing gossiping behind the counter and ignoring us and I had to get their attention and they said sorry you can’t come in. so-and-so is not here to show you around. Really rude encounter for first timers coming in. I would highly recommend you train your staff a little better than this. And also let people at least do a free day pass to check out the gym. That was about six months ago by the way

I adore this gym. The average gymgoer here is an older person seeking the community and health benefits that a club gym provides. Nothing feels better than making friends every time you’re at the gym! I’ve been going here a while now, and I have one thing to complain about. Although men and women pay the same amount for a membership, women are worth less to these people than men. The men’s locker room is far nicer than that of the women’s, with large grey lockers and floor length mirrors. The women’s looks as though it’s been sucked out of a middle school gymnasium, and has questionable cleaning habits. We have to shuffle around each other in the cramped space while soaking wet ladies can barely get their swimming suits off without putting themselves full frontal in front of other people. Rather than buying hoity toity equipment that people never use (massage chairs that cost money to use and red light therapy that also costs an extra $10 a month) I implore the owners of MHAC to make a choice that actively benefits the average customer at their facility. Women who cannot sit on the low benches, women who cannot comfortably move around in the cramped spaces, and women who may not be in their prime anymore. Sincerely, a woman.

One employee told me kids could hang out in tween room for free
So I brought my grandkids I’m watching
They charged me $30 and never apologized for the misinformation ( for $30 I’d have brought them to swim…)
The owner and membership person were extremely rude
I’ve been a member here since they opened and really unhappy with how they treated me
****update****
Owner just came up to me and apologized and said he’d refund the charge… this time and better educate the staff!!
This means so much to me!!!
This is 5 star service!!

This is one of the nicest gyms in Oregon. Way more gym than you would normally find in a small town. I can't think of a nicer gym nearby. Hot tubs inside and out, basketball, racket ball, pickel ball, and lots of space. The equipment is all very nice and new. They keep this gym in tip top shape. All this for 50 a month. Inner city gyms are 3 times that much will less amenities.

Nice facilities and friendly staff. However this gym is the stereotypical sign a contract where they have fees for everything. They hide behind the contract as justification for stealing money from customers. There is no excuse for a $50 fee to make a change to a contract that requires them to simply click a couple of buttons on your account. My situation was a roommate moved away and they billed me for the month AND charged a change fee. So effectively they stole $100 for the month and the change. The billing cycles are understandable, theft however, is immoral.

Well run, family-oriented health club. One of the only pools around town during summer makes it a hot spot to keep cool. Big free weight floor, lots of machines for cardio upstairs and various specialty rooms (ie - spinning, base camp...). Smoothies are decent, plenty of healthy snacks if you need them. Multi-use gym with two basketball courts. Lots of community events held here. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I truly enjoyed my workout at this gym. It was only $15 to enter which gave my access to everything. You should bring a lock for your locker but they did have one for me because I was just traveling through.

Other than that, we like the gym. We're keeping our membership for the amenities.

Be aware!!!!……..I moved out of the area so I went to cancel my membership. I went in on Dec. 17th and was told that I would be charged for the month of January because it was after December 15th. I tried to explain that I was not going to be around to use facility and was told that’s policy.
Then January came and I was debited 113.00 for my annual renewal I called and more or less was told that’s policy. So now I’m getting charged 113.00 for a annual renewal that I won’t be using.
This is gauging at its finest it’s not really about the money but more about ethics and principle! I have been out of the country for the past three weeks and just now getting around to dealing with this. I will be going to my bank on Monday to dispute this charge!

they steal money from the bank account, this happened after the request to terminate the subscription. I don't recommend anyone to go to this place. The request for compensation was answered with outright rudeness. Terrible place. They are probably democrats, such communication is in their style.
PS. your response to our comments is an outright lie. After we contacted the front desk for the third time, you canceled our membership. And the first two times your employees assured us that they would close the membership. you are outright thieves without a conscience. you just stole $600 from us. PEOPLE DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!

Such a great gym! For individuals or family. Here's what you need to know for young families. Family swim is from 1 to 4pm. Which kind of sucks because the kids get out of school at 230. But during the summer hours the outdoor pool is open at noon!
The kids clubs are amazing, you will definitely feel comfortable leaving your kiddos for an hour while you work out.
There is a family changing room if you have girls and boys and don't want to leave either alone to change. But it's pretty small fyi. NO more outside food. This was a sad change for us. The kids always brought a lunch box to the pool. Now if you want food while your their you have to call them from the pool or load up the kids and go inside and order. (Never worth it if you have more than one swimmer) The staff is very helpful!

I've been going here for well over 8 years. For the most part, I have really enjoyed it. Great staff. Like everyone's great, except the owners in my experience. When switching over with my new partner in 2021, she asked me if we were intimate… I said yes. Just out of shock that she would ask something like that! When I first signed up with my previous partner they didn't ask me that - but the owner wasn't present that time. I just sucked it up. Small town, I know, but then I noticed something odd: why is there a smart TV in the men’s locker room?!? The weird thing is where it’s always facing. Perfect view of that Hollywood light up mirror. I looked up where the TV’s camera is located and flipped it off while staring at it. Strangely, the owner took it down and replaced it with an older one - Coincidence?? I just find it fishy. Super fishy. Which is why I had to write this. It helps me relax. Makes me sad that had to do this, but I think others should know how some members feel. Especially in these times and the strange direction this world is headed…

But there are a few at the facility that are unhelpful and sometimes very unkind.
I have asked for someone to check the water temperature in the women’s shower twice this year. The water in the showers is only HOT. You cannot turn it to a any other temperature. Both times I’m told people don’t take showers there they just rinse off. If I want a shower and want to wash my hair I should go home to do so

Not wheelchair accessible- they lack basic items required by the ADA.. automatic doors, accessible showers etc.. when visiting I was told the owner would call me back in regards to fixing the issues, but after a week passed with no phone call- I stopped by again. This time all I got was “oh-sorry I don’t know anything about that”
this is the year 2022! how can companies like this blatantly exclude a portion of the population that relies on ADA laws to be followed? Truly astounding.
UPDATE: I received a call back - they explained that other wheelchair users use the club… which is a slap in the face. Maybe the place met code when they opened - but they also told me installing power doors is too bunch of a financial burden. And they are also ‘sympathetic’ to people that rely on ADA guidelines. So… sympathy, and too expensive. Just what people in our situation want to hear…
I want to be able to go about my day like everyone else, and not have to rely on “sympathy” of others to preform basic tasks
The last apartment complex I lived in, I personally paid for the pool lift. Purchase, installation, and permits totaled $2700.
But a $600 bench bolted to the wall for the shower area (required by ADA) , and power doors are a bridge too far.

If you want a great service and a better monthly payments and a great assortment of weights and stations for a serious lifter you're better off buying your own equipment or making your own diy equipment out of cement in your garage or work something out with a storage facility. Lastly if those options don't work for you try thrive(29.99 a month). Gym memberships shouldn't make you regret getting healthy and selling your soul. For those newbies and high schoolers looking for a gym and Information about getting in shape I suggest looking up tutorial videos by Athleanx and buff dudes, they show numerous exercises with very limited/non at all equipment and great nutrition tips and it won't cost you an arm and a leg
*These people only care about emptying out your wallet and selling you outdated and impractical workout plans!!

Small, barely any equipment, not a place for a bodybuilder or a serious lifter and overprice. if your wanting to join a gym to just brag about going to one than this is your spot, if you happen to live up the mountain or around sandy and you don't want to drive to crunch or bfit. you're better off buying your own equipment and working out in your garage or building an outside shack/mancave. seriously it cost 650$ just for a year (paying 100 for the first month and then 50 for the other months adds up to 650$)

Nice place but gym is always rented out to groups so our boys can't play b-ball like we wanted. Management only cares about making money and doesn't take suggestions. We cancelled our families membership before COVID. Not sure how it is now.

Me and my husband live in Sandy, and signing up for MT. Hood Athletic Center was one of the best decisions we made, since it changed our lives to a better and healthier style. We enjoy the cardio, weight machines and of course the indoor pool and hot tub. I also absolutely love the "Body Pump" and " Zumba" as well as "Yoga". I am looking forward to starting my " Base Camp" soon. The personnel has always been welcoming and helpful, even with the challenges of Covid-19, limited hours, i appreciate all their hard work to ensure our safety and health, the place is spotless! We want to support our local businesses.

No need to go to Hawaii. Oregon's Paradise is right here at MHAC. Coach Paul Ricker inside of his Dodge front of MHAC loves his job there at the GYM. They have two pools and two hot tubs one each indoor and outdoor. Rest of the facilities are unbelievable just like a Mansion living inside.

The gym itself, is very nice. The people who run it, are not.
Hidden fees, and dishonest practices. Plus VERY expensive. Do not recommend. Worth the drive to Gresham for a membership at LA Fitness

Had this gym for probably a year +, while there I loved the staff and people who attended regularly to yoga or basketball on mon/wed. Currently have been trying for 2 months to get canceled and got charged again, when trying to notify them of their mistake, was not greeted with understanding during these trying economic times, will be recommending friends away from this establishment in the future.

Expensive, Bad hours, Membership "services" acts like you work for them. Increase in membership before COVID so I feel like I funded their remodel/expansion. Members during that expansion deserve a donor brick (joking but irritated). It is nice looking but the number of machines are misleading as stuff that doesn't work is too common. Class schedules are for the work from home and retired.

Was surprised to see a gym facility of this size in Sandy, Oregon. Equipment is good, and the staff is always friendly. The downfalls- mens locker room is woefully small. During peak hours, it is not unusual to have to stand around 15-20 minutes and wait for people to finish up and move out of the extraordinary cramped locker spaces. Then, tying up to sections with rented lockers amplifies the problem tenfold. The new weight room expansion is great, but seriously, the locker rooms need some expansion. This was much more needed then more bathrooms installed on the second level.

Neat little athletic club. Have yet to try any classes but I do enjoy the pool, sauna, tanning and all the workout gear. I was a member at 24 before joining this club and do wish they had better operating hours particularly on weekends. Other than that I have no complaints. Great staff, too!

I canceled my membership, staff was average, overpriced, the owner is a disappointment. They should really find someone capable of running the facility. Took my business elsewhere, and I am very happy. Don’t waste your money. Find a facility that actually cares.

It's a great gym. Many things to do and a friendly staff. The only thing that could be improved is the steam room. It doesn't work properly most of the time. When you push the start button no steam cones on even after 5 or 10 minutes. Frustrating.

My wife and I love this place. the staff treat you like family, the owner is super down to earth, really seems to care about his community, and the kids club is a down right blessing!!!
They have everything you could want, classes ( my wife loves!) Great weights area, full basketball court! updated cardio equipment, im a runner and sometimes i just don't want to run in the rain so it is awesome that their equipment is updated, works, and there are enough of them. Racquetball courts, and the pool which is another Godsend in the summer for the kids.
Prices are more than fair and I would more than recommend this place to anyone in the area!!

My husband and I came to Sandy Oregon so our Sprinter (van) heaters could be fixed.
I didn't want to wait around 3 hours while it was being fixed so we googled local gym and found Mt. Hood.
I went in asked if they offered day passes they said yes for $20 a day, this athletic club has a pool, full cardio weight yoga areas.
The locker room has blow dryers, which was great for me, because I forgot mine, I was able to use a towel as well for a $1.00 which was returned to me once I turned the towel back in.
They also sale rock tape which is something I use as well.
Over all this was a great place to spend time at, if for any reason we should return to Sandy I would return.
