Went back to this gym after 2 yrs, it is much less crowded now and alot cleaner/organized not perfect but good. Best gym I've gone to better than iron fitness and TD athletes club pluse it's cheaper than those 2 aswell. 101% recommend this game it is amazing.

This is my 2nd day there and the people there are absolutely amazing I’ve never worked out in a Gym and a few people came up and showed me workouts I could do also the owner is a very polite man he will give you advice if you ever need any!

This is an awesome old school gym that is underground. There is a ton of equipment, it wasn’t crowded, music was great, and it feels like you’re in another era down there. They allow you get a weekly pass which is excellent for those traveling to The Dalles for work.

Love this gym. If you're in town to pump some pure old school iron this is definitely the place. When you descend the stairs into this tiny mecca filled to the brim with tons of Olympic style weights you'll feel like you time warped back to the 80s and feel like you're lifting with the great golden age bodybuilders. There's a vast array of machines for everyone. The man who owns the gym is very kind and personable and will always greet you if he sees you and talk with you for a little while which is really great, he really cares about every patron and will go above and beyond for you. He even kept the doors open for my girlfriends mother when she had to rush over and grab my sweatshirt before I left town. I would 200% return to this gym in the future and definitely recommend it to everyone that needs a gym to workout here!

2022 update:
Doesn't seem like it has changed that much since my initial review three years ago. And it doesn't need to! This place is still amazing. Kind of wished I lived in The Dalles permanently so I can continue to go here!

2024 update:
Does this gym ever switch things up? Doesn't seem like it. But does it have to? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! This gym remains the ultimate spot for serious weightlifting and fitness enthusiasts.

Had memberships at other gyms before and I enjoy this place a lot. Good selection of machines and free weights. Only complaint is it can get a little warm, but there's fans you can turn on everywhere that help a lot.

Weights are fine but the place is kind of dingy w/a load of second/third hand equipment. The aerobic stuff is pretty bad; some broke, some look broke, some like the ellipticals have malfunctioning software.

All that is fine because its cheap but the worst part are the right-wing political banners members have to put up with. No thanks. I served several combat tours, I've proven I'm a patriot & don't need some country bumpkin's political pov shoved into my face as a paying member. I certainly don't recommend you paying for it either unless that's your thing.

If you want a pretty, flowery scented, brightly lighted gym with tvs at every angle and plug-ins for your phone on every machine then go to a mass market produced place. THIS is a gym.
It's the type of gym you go to when you already know what to do and need no hand holding while doing it. People come here to work out, not be seen wearing their best outfits while sneaking in doing a tiktok.
You work out, are taken seriously and you're able to concentrate without disruption. It smells like a gym, it looks like a gym, it operates like a gym.
The men's room had brooms and mops in the doorway, the single shower was dark unlit and seems like an afterthought when being put together.
But do not get me wrong, this is EXACTLY what a real gym should be. It's not a spa. YOU make yourself feel better and don't rely on others making you feel better.
I wish I was the owner of this place because it's exactly what people want when they're serious and not showing off how "fit" they are.
I gave it 4 stars because the only thing that would of gotten that 5th star would be to see Rocky Balboa using the bags.

This gym is very dirty. The bathroom is absolutely disgusting. And for the price the equipment is very poorly maintained and half of the dumbbells don't even have the weight on them.

Definitely gonna miss this gym. I was traveling through for work and found this one. No bs no contract and free weights for days. Josh the owner is a really cool dude and the sign up process was easy. This gym is filled with all the old greatest machines the old famous athletes and bodybuilders used..no fluff just straight iron! Also great old hard rock music always playing. Definitely would come back!

This is not a fancy place by any measure. But the equipment works well and this place does the job with the vibe of an authentic GYM (if you are looking for a polished fitness center - this isn't your place). But I LOVE this place. The owner/operates, Josh, is such a cool and helpful guy. The prices are great. It is always open. And there are a solid group of devot regulars that serve as a testament to the authentic vibe of this place.

You come here to get fit, it is a great place for that. It will disappoint if you are looking for Instagram/resort gym photos.

Ok, so wasn't familiar with the the area as I was only there for a week. Have to workout almost every day so called Muscle & Fitness and asked if I could just pay per visit. The owner Josh said yes, $5 per visit or $20 a week. I asked him if masks were required and he said, you're a grown-up so you decide. I told him good answer and went to the gym. Hours after my first workout I realized that I lost my phone. Panicking, I thought I'd at least call the gym and ask if they found a phone. Josh answered and said YES! A girl found it and gave it to him. So thank you so much girl I don't know for being down kind! Long story short, it's a very old school gym, no frills, but great for body building and most importantly, Josh and the other members are great!

Showed up to sign up for a membership, no way to do it in person. The note on the door said to call a number, I did. No answer, left voicemail, no call back. Sent a text, (it was Read) no reply, sent another text and no reply. Wish I could have found a place to work out, but it looks like the other gym (gorg athletic club) earned my 100 a month.

Best value in town, I love this gym. Friendly owner is there all the time. The "no bull" slogan is legit, I've had nothing but good experiences here even when putting my membership on hold and cancelling completely for a while. Plenty of equipment and space so you don't have to wait or feel crowded.

I travel a lot and although this may not be the most up to date, it is a great gym with some super nice people who go here. Everyone is very welcoming and polite. Multiple times I was said good morning to, or asked if I was using a piece of equipment before someone used it. I wish my gym at home was more like this one, I'd go more haha! I say go check it out for yourself, it's worth the visit.

I love this place! All of the weights, benches and machines you will ever need. This gym has that old timey neighborhood gym feel. I caught a workout while passing through on vacation and I am very glad I did! Price is great, owner is great, I wish I had this gym in my town.
