Best gym for women in Portland! The staff is great. The gym is always clean and organized. They do a great job keeping the equipment up to date. The locker room as everything you need including a dry sauna and a light room! AND the members are also friendly. PLUS now there is a coffee/smoothie bar!

I came to check NWWF out this week, and I'm staying as a member. I love the ability to choose between some Virtual and many in-person classes! Frankly, as a "virus-conscious" senior, Virtual is a big selling point for me....!!
I appreciate the comfort of being around mostly or all women (I think there's one co-ed class?). And I appreciate that they take sanitation seriously!
My experience of the trainers has been terrific.
Thanks, NW Women's!

Northwest Women’s Fitness is the best gym in Portland!! It has an excellent manager and staff, equipment, classes, massages, treatments, spa, locker room and cleanliness. It’s a genuine community in regards to clients. It’s a place that inspires fitness, wellness and self care. Highly recommend!!

I'm writing this review for people trying to find a body positive gym. For those who are looking to develop a healing and non-judgmental relationship with exercise, I would not recommend this place. I mainly attended the classes, so this is based on that experience. Unfortunately, in almost all of them the instructors at some point mentioned losing weight, needing to exercise because they "ate too much," ideal bodies, not working hard enough in the class, etc. It felt like a very shame-based environment. As a person with a larger body, I did not feel comfortable to exist and move in my body at my own pace without judgement. The facilities and locker room are very clean and the front desk people are very nice, however I think some of the ways exercise is talked about here could be triggering for anyone overcoming shame around exercise and their body.

Love the community feel of this place. There are quiet times of day that are nice when you just want to workout in peace, but the classes are so engaging!

A well equipped gym with excellent fitness instructors and trainers. The overall vibe is jovial and non-competitive. I fully decompressed in their sauna and took a book into the sun lamp relaxing room. It’s a well maintained space with super clean showers and locks for lockers. I’ve only been a couple of times through ClassPass, but plan on joining them as a full time member very soon.

I was just visiting Portland and looking to get a day pass, and instead got a 7-day pass. Such an awesome little gym with different areas for anything one could want: weightlifting, cardio, TRX stuff, a sauna, and even a light room to help with seasonal depression. If I lived here, I would hands down be a member!!

I am so grateful to have found this gym. The staff are so kind and friendly. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and you can feel calm and comfortable knowing that you have space to do your own thing in the open floor section of the gym, other patrons of the gym are kind. It's not loud at all - it's very peaceful here. The sauna and the aromatherapy room have literally saved me during a very stressful week, I look forward to visiting this gym again soon for the wonderful atmosphere and clean equipment. Thanks to the staff for a great first week as I explore options for my next gym.

Great spa like atmosphere! I really do love this fitness center and if you prefer not being in big gyms then this is a wonderful place to join, but I found that the the machines are too crammed together and not enough weight machines to choose from and a really small space to workout. I love their group classes and sauna and aromatherapy room but for $75 a month I would prefer a bigger space with more amenities.

I do not recommend them to anyone.

NW Womens fitness is small, expensive and the staff isn’t trustworthy.

I called them months ago to cancel my membership, and I went there myself on the same day to assure that everything was properly cancelled. The lady at the front desk informed me that yes everything was canceled. I asked about the email they’ve sent me and she said it was just a survey to not worry about it.

After that they kept charging my credit card, because according to them I was supposed to sign the email when I went to the gym myself and they should’ve told me that????

I then asked to be refunded and the manager only gave me one month back, she refuses to refund the second month that I have paid without knowing, without my consent.

I had to call them several times and I even had to go there myself, still the manager refuses to give me my money back.

Northwest women's fitness is haven to those of us that wish for a safe and comfortable gym experience. The whole vibe is supportive but non-pressuring. Their trainers are excellent. The girls that work at the front desk are amazing. Abbi and Katherine are especially fantastic. I always feel like I'm being greeted by friends when I walk in and see them standing behind the desk. Abbi is always ready with a compliment and rooting me on when she sees me working towards my fitness goals. They show me every time I am there what customer service is all about. The gym facility is wonderful. A variety of equipment to accommodate all styles. I love the environment there and I love getting to see my friends every time I come in!

I could not speak more highly of North West Women’s Fitness and Personal Training. I was at corporate gyms for over a decade. All those years, I wasn’t moving my body in the ways I needed to because men would gawk at or approach me so I would modify my routine to avoid their inevitable harassment. I could write a book on this, but I’ll spare you the details. However at NW Women’s Fitness, I am safe to exist in my body and not only has been a huge relief mentally, but I’m in the best shape of my life because my energy is actually able to focus on mind muscle connection rather than avoiding men. There are different kinds of women here and everyone is genuinely friendly. Additionally the space is extremely clean, NWWF went above and beyond with pandemic protocols. I really like the layout and they have every machine a person would need. The air conditioning saved my life during the heat wave. Let me tell you about these instructors. QUALITY. Vanessa is the best instructor I’ve ever had at a gym ever. I have no idea how she sounds so pleasant while doing all those sets and really pushes each of us and makes sure we have options that work with everyones body / go at our own pace. Ive taken all the morning cycling classes, yoga, body pump and get a lot out of all of them. Thank you Debra, Elizabeth #1 and the whole team for existing. I love this place!

This is the only gym that I have ever looked forward to going to. The staff are very friendly and have always made me feel welcome. The team training classes are awesome (especially boxing) and the personal trainers are great. I’ve worked with three different trainers at various times, and they all have been very motivating and helpful. I love the smaller, women only vibe and I feel the environment is very warm and positive. This place feels like a spa, with a lovely locker room, sauna and light room. There is no way I’ll ever go back to big box, corporate, co ed fitness.

This is a terrible gym to actually workout in. The classes here are extremely easy and the majority of people are either sitting around talking or older people doing mobility exercises. No hate on mobility but the constant sitting on machines and talking were annoying.

All of this would be totally fine just slightly annoying but the real problem is the personal trainers - they are horribly rude. I was there for a month and every single time I went to the gym a trainer would take the equipment I was using or come sit or put their papers on the box or machine I was using. Once while I was literally jumping on a box the angry blond trainer put her clipboard down in front of me and told me to move then proceeded to Not even use the box. And I don’t have a problem with sharing! But this wasn’t sharing this was just rudeness for the sake of proving they owned the place. There were identical pieces of equipment being unused they could have had. I was literally never able to finish a workout without having to move for them - often multiple times in an hour workout.

If you’re here for the saunas and the yoga it’s chill the facilities are very nice but if your goal is to get a workout in I would just go to a 24 hour it’s cheaper and the people working there are much nicer.

Highly discourage people from trying this studio, the classes and teachers are alright, but they lock you into unexpected fees and the customer service is not very willing to help. Other studios in the area offer better classes and more flexibility.

I love this place! The instructors and trainers I have worked with, especially Bree and Carol, have been genuinely friendly, encouraging, motivating, and helpful. The monthly rate is a little higher than some other gyms, but it is much less than a monthly fee for a yoga, pilates, or barre studio, though those classes are offered here, and the environment is so encouraging and unintimidating. I have found I feel much more at ease in my quest to get into shape at a women's only gym than i thought i would. The place is clean and the equipment is nice.
