Jamal is literally the kindest, most supportive trainer, I feel truly lucky to be matched with him, I feel like my journey with him as my personal trainer is going to be life changing.
I tried to train with two other trainers at Redwood, but they didn’t have the heart and connection I have with him. He knows how to
push me where I wouldn’t push myself.
I look forward to training daily as it gives me something positive to look forward to.

I’ve been working with Jamal for a while now, and the experience has been amazing!!! He’s very highly experienced and knowledgeable in fitness. He took the time to work with me and push me hard to reach my goals with nutrition / workouts/ form/plan. He always keeps me accountable and always makes me feel safe during every workout. I used to not be able to lift any weight at all and now I’m seeing results in strength, muscle tone, and bigger glutes. I would recommend him to anybody who wants to start their fitness journey. I used to struggle with a lot of knee pain and ever since working with him. I haven’t felt it. The staff is very friendly as well. Jamal is also very attentive and having his whole focus on me during our sessions. I absolutely love training here and will continue to do so. I want to thank Jamal for everything he has done to push me. I’m always looking forward on our workouts !

I have been going here for several years and it has been going downhill for the last 5-6. The building is in poor shape, it's dirty and the equipment, once it breaks it stays broken.
What made me write this review was this. A group of old Asian women used to dance together when there wasn't any classes in one of the rooms and that went on for several months. For some unknown reason, they decided to stop letting them dance together. Their "reasons" are that "some people don't understand the Chinese music" and "the teacher speaks Chinese, not everybody speaks Chinese" oh, "it's against our policy" (which I can't find anywhere) They have Spanish music for other dance classes and I can't speak Spanish and most of the other people there can't either.
I am an old white guy, who is just an acquaintance of a couple of the Asian women and from what I could hear between the Asian women and the gym managers, it's clear to me that the management of this gym just doesn't like Asian people. Their reasons for not letting them dance were nonsense. I would like to add, I think claiming racism when there is no other argument is bad, there is obvious bias against these women. And from what the management said, it's because they are Asian.

I’ve been training with Jamal at Redwood Personal Training (Oakway Fiit) and the experience has been incredible! After having four back surgeries, I came to Redwood to rebuild strength in my back and overall body. Jamal has been nothing but professional, honest, and communicative. His knowledge of fitness and nutrition is outstanding.
In just 30 days (training twice a week), I’ve lost 3% body fat, feel noticeably stronger, and best of all — have zero back pain. Jamal keeps me accountable not only for showing up but also for tracking my meals, offering thoughtful feedback and encouragement along the way.
His dedication to my goals and attention to my limitations have made a huge difference. Thanks to his expertise, I’m well on my way to a healthier and stronger version of myself. If you’re serious about your fitness goals, I highly recommend giving him a call!

I’ve been a part of the Oakway FIIT community for over 8 years now (back when it was Elements). The ownership has clearly invested a lot of money into renovating and updating the space. Many of the issues people still complain about actually existed long before it became Oakway FIIT, and I feel like they’re genuinely working to tackle those problems and make the gym better.
Yes, the sauna was hit-or-miss for quite a while, but they’ve since replaced the tile in the wet sauna and installed a new steam pump, which has greatly reduced downtime. The dry sauna also got new boards to replace the warped ones, and they’ve upgraded the heater — it now consistently runs at 170° or higher.
I personally appreciate the effort being put into these improvements. I understand that, in order to bring new life to the gym, some services may be temporarily out of order. If short-term inconveniences mean long-term reliability and equipment that rarely breaks down, I’m happy to be patient as they work toward that consistency.
Thank you for continuing to invest in making this place better for the members — it doesn’t go unnoticed.

I chose this gym for the pool. I’m a swimmer and the other pools in town don’t have the equipment I need for weight training all in the same place! I love the staff and enjoy the red light therapy as well as the massage and tanning! I use it all. I do agree it could be cleaner. But it’s not a new building either there are issues. Things go out sometimes for a long time and there is a lot of construction and remodeling, overall it meets all my needs and I really enjoy going every morning! Been going for 4 months went to river road park before and dealt with problems all the time! Great gym! I love it!

Oakway Fit has great staff; Ben, Jack and Elizabeth care, and do a great job. However the club ownership appears to have absolutely no urgency or interest about repairs. Hot tub as been out 6 weeks and sauna has been broken for over a week. I like the pool and most members however WOW-unbelievable about lack of response to broken infrastructure. Donald Nahnsen

Do you like Russian Roulette? Then you’ll *love* this gym... except instead of a revolver, it’s whether the pool, hot tub, sauna, showers, or a random chunk of workout equipment will be out of service today. Sometimes two. Sometimes all.
The only thing consistent in my 18-month membership (visiting between 2-4x a week before work) is that something is broken. Want to shower after your workout? Surprise! Bathrooms are closed for “cleaning time" at 7:30am, during the morning rush. Because why would anyone want to shower *then*? Or, if you're lucky, they'll clean while you're dressing in the dressing room, complete with vacuuming within 3 inches of your toes while you're toweling off naked!
The broken amenities are like Pokémon here: you never know which ones you’ll find on any given day, but you *will* catch at least one! If you’re looking for consistency, this gym delivers!! ...in consistently being under repair.
If you enjoy mystery, suspense, and smelling like your workout all day (on days youre lucky enough to get one) look no further!

I've not had any problems here really. I only started coming after the change in ownership and as things were settling into the new way of being done there were definitely a lot of hiccups and the construction is kind of a pain but if it wasn't for how it was run down before there wouldn't be such a need for construction. The staff has gotten way better and I do remember having an issue with refills for things like the soap in the showers being a problem but I haven't had that happen in quite some time. Over all my experience here has actually been great. The good stuff definitely has outweighed the bad stuff.

This place requires in person cancellation which the President tried to make illegal. It is just an extra step to make it harder to get out of their web of payments. They are colluding with Redwood Fitness who pressure you to sign contracts then make it difficult to cancel. Could not recommend less. The pool and sauna are regularly closed for maintenance as well.

Urine soaked mats. Cleaned only once a week. After the 3rd day, the entire bathroom area smells like urine. On day 6.Just before they clean them. It's starting to smell like ammonia and the urine is crystallized on the mats. When I suggested to them that they should clean their mats with it very least.Vinegar nightly, the staff said.Yeah, sure, sure. This is a video one week after that conversation. There used to be a pretty good vibe in this place, but it’s gone downhill to the point where we finally gave up and left for another gym. Equipment isn’t bad, but the selection of machines is limited. The facility itself has been going downhill for a long time. Holes in floors, dripping ceilings, and carpet holes are just a few of the issues we encountered. Some days the heat / AC worked, others not so much. The straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back was their inability to stop a member from showing up with body odor that could be smelled from rooms away. We gave them over a week to solve the problem and finally just gave up. Most of the people who made up the old Oakway Fitness vibe are gone, and it’s now just another aging, mismanaged fitness center. We loved it when it was great, but it’s far from great now.

Do not sign up for redwood personal training unless you want to be locked in for life! I was happy with my personal training and paid for over a year and a half. When my trainer quit, I reviewed my contract to see how to cancel and after multiple emails, attempted phone calls, and mailing a letter to the company to cancel I was still charged a monthly fee after my membership was canceled. I had to dispute the charge through my credit card company and months later just received a notice that I still owed $45. This company is absolutely predatory and I would not recommend signing up to anyone.

Oakway Fit are amazing, the personal trainers are super cool and very energizing, they will keep you on track and they will help you set up goals, my trainer despite the amount of times I did show up, was very easy and fun to work with, it may be a bit high in the price range but as far as personal trainers go these guys are the best, and very flexible with anything you may be doubting.
My personal trainer at the time I attended was Shayne and I would suggest him to anyone that is interested.

I have been paying for Redwood Training for a year and a half now, and since they have hired their new manager, Shayne, to run the personal training program at Oakway Fiit, I feel very welcomed, and my fitness goals are being met. In fact, I feel my fitness progress has exceeded my expectations. Shayne has matched me with the perfect trainer who is skilled with helping me get stronger without re-injuring existing problems in my knee. My trainer is also very kind. Shayne also checks in with me in person to make sure I am doing well. I appreciate his personal attention so I feel good about continuing my membership. Redwood Training has improved their customer service with leaps and bounds since Shayne has started managing this program. I give Redwood Training 4 stars.
However, I rated this review with 3 stars because the inside of the Oakway Fiit building and locker rooms could use a much needed face lift. The toilets often are running water constantly and not flushing and not being repaired. Paper towel dispensers are often empty and trash bins are full. Counters and sinks appear dirty when I need to use them. The staff behind the reception desk have always been nice though and they always greet me when I come in.

My husband and daughter have been going to this gym for a few years now. Today we were told that they do not allow children under 12 to swim freely in the pool unless they have a class. Apparently this is a “new” rule that was made at the beginning of the year that no one told us about- no email sent out and no one EVER said anything to us when we came in. They clearly saw my daughter every time and said nothing. The lady I spoke to tried to tell me that there were signs posted but who knows where because we never saw anything and you would think they would have stopped us at some point the last 9 months. I’m not upset about their rule (although it’s unfortunate it’s not family friendly) but rather the lack of communication and accountability. We will definitely be cancelling our membership and finding a more family-friendly inclusive gym.

As of 05/29/24 - DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM!!!!! Anna LaRosa who is apparently from "corporate accounts" does NOTHING to assist or correct the issue!! They charged me TWICE for the $99 enrollment fee (her mistake and mess up by the way), and she REFUSES to refund any amount that SHE screwed up on! I've made two BBB complaints, and all that does is just land on deaf ears. The owners of this gym should be ashamed! I've made a complaint with the Attorney General, and will follow suit to other avenues for a refund. This is NOT how you treat people. I've even offered to remove my negative post if they would just fix the issue, and they don't.
Edit 05/25/24: THEY ARE STILL CHARGING MY CARD WITH NO ACCESS TO THE GYM. I REACHED OUT TO THE BANK AND THE PROBLEM WE HAVE IS THAT I'M OUT OF STATE TO STOP IT.
AVOID THIS GYM AT ALL COSTS!!!!
Edit again: Came in 4/1 because I was told to speak with Wayne, and he's there M-F 9a-5p. Stopped in at just after 1p, he's not there. This is ridiculous. And this gym physically has a lot to offer. But the lies and refusal to fix the billing errors and my account while still charging me for a service I'm not allowed to access is fraudulent.
Second update as of 3/30: Submitted a claim to BBB for a refund with proof of the errored membership, as well as disputing with my bank. Went in yesterday, was told again to come back a different day. Also, they still did not even cancel or rectify the situation of the gym still pulling money from my account
Edit to update: They STILL have not remedied the situation nor has anyone tried to reach out. When I have been in, there is never a manager available and no one to help.
.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE.
I came here because my family comes here. I was told about signing up under my parents for a discount.
I came in a few weeks after the tour to sign up. I came to scan in a few days later and was told my membership had expired. I just signed up, how did it expire? It was a joint enrollment, month to month. My spouse's card worked, but not mine. Then I was charged $170 without warning or explanation!
I asked the girl at the desk when I came in a day or so later, and magically when I asked her, the system went down. She wrote my name and number on a sticky note and said the manager would call me on Monday or Tuesday. It is now more than a week later with no follow up call.
I wouldn't have been so annoyed, but during this conversation where magically the system went down, I asked her why I didn't get the discount as SHE had previously told me about. She evens stated she would put a lead in the system so that it would be honored (at the time of the tour is when she stated this). When I inquired at the time her computer system conveniently went down, she changed her story to, "As I told you whenever it was you came in, it would change at the end of the year." No...you did NOT tell me that, because I would have noted that, and made prior arrangements to come in sooner (as we just moved here and were trying to get settled).
Right now, all I can say is that nothing has been honored that we were told. And now with this excessive charge, and no follow up from management, it's worth noting: DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM. Find somewhere else that won't lie to you.
And the bad part about this whole situation...I actually really love this gym.
But if you are over charging people, making false promises, not actually fixing the issue, what else are you misrepresenting to your patrons???

This gym is scamming people ! On multiple occasions I was charged more than what I signed up for, they would credit my account and apologize and it would happen again, then they permanently closed down my location and charged me for the following month the same day they closed. 6 months later I’m getting a bill from a debt collectors attorney’s office saying I owe $359.00 to a gym that was permanently closed. I told oakway I didn’t sign up with them and couldn’t make it to that location. I was told my membership would be canceled. They did not cancel my membership and now I’m being billed for a gym that’s boarded up and no longer available. Avoid this gym if you don’t want to be scammed!!

This is a terrible gym. I thought it was pretty affordable at first since there is a pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room as well as a gym but unfortunately all the facilities are always dirty and disgusting. The gym overall is always very crowded too. The pool lanes are often taken, the steam room is very gross and smelly and the sauna is usually very crowded. Most areas smell terrible, especially in the locker rooms, bathrooms, and showers. The photos I've seen on here don't do justice to how truly disgusting it all is.
Be forewarned that the contract is no joke, and they will not accept cash payments or checks if you're not able to use a card. I was also told that if you stop going without cancelling officially and your payment stops going through, they will continue to rack up invoices and send it all to collections within 6 months time. Definitely not worth it in anyway shape or form. Greedy, corporate, gross. Steer clear!!

When asking for a refund, the “OWNER” says the gym is owned by “NOBODY” and she doesn’t have the jurisdiction to provide one. Has the old email to my account. (I have emails from the day I froze it on my new one) looked through the contract together, she didn’t know what the contract says, and nowhere does it say it will deactivate or activate account after 6 months. The owners are horrible people. They took over what used to be Elements in West Eugene and Springfield. Ran it into the ground then bailed giving their staff very little warning and didn't tell their customers until the last minute but continued to charge them and send them to ABC collections. They then rename the Oakway sight to Oakway FIIT. They do not care about their staff or clients only lining their pockets. Do not support this gym!!!

Beware!!!! There’s a lot of negative reviews for a reason!
First off, There are so many better gyms in Eugene than this place!!!!
But Truck stops have cleaner bathrooms than this gym! The pool and spa is nasty, I would rather swim in the kiddie pool at splash. On top of it, Bad management and customer service. I would bet money on them not an answering the phone or calling you back any time of the day.
MORE IMPORTANTLY….This place has changed its name and management over the years and thats always the 1st red flag.
THERE’S GOOD NEWS THO!
Your local rec centers are better than this place if you’re looking for a pool and gym. Pursue or even Planet fitness are better options if you’re just looking for a gym without a dirty spa. Take the 7 day trial and you’ll see for yourself.

BEWARE... THEY'LL KEEP CHARGING YOU THE MONTHLY FEE EVEN IF THEY CLOSE YOUR CHOSEN LOCATION. I was a member at the West Eugene location. With no notice, they shut down yet kept charging me. No advanced notification. No notification that I had to now go to the location on the other side of town...
When I realized what was going on, they advised that "my membership was moved to another location"... a location that was inconvenient for me and by the time I could get the membership cancelled, they continued to charge me. JUST BE AWARE.

Corporate suddenly shut down two of the facilities with only three days notice and without even letting the staff know in advance enough to find alternative employment. This place is not well managed and corporate is not respectful of patrons or employees. I do NOT recommend giving Oakway Fit your business.

Closed our gym with no notification AND just charged me for my membership. The only open gym in both eugene and Springfield has turned off their phone. Im not traveling across 2 cities to work out. Thieves and liars run this company.
UPDATE: They won't notify their customers when they close a gym, but they can e-mail, text, and call when you lock your credit card and they don't get paid.
UPDATE: I block my card and have tried to contact this company AND this particular gym. You can't get ahold of a human AND the phone number above is wrong. They are scam artists who mess with your membership and then hound you for money...DO NOT JOIN!

It's not a good gym and it gets worse pretty much all the time, half of the features you paid for aren't functioning, and a lot of stuff is either broken, or has been removed the gym and not replaced.
they really try to gut you for any extra money that they can by spamming your number with personal trainers wanting to ride on your credit card.

Gym doesn’t have any special features besides swimming pool and hot tub. You can literally pay the same amount (or less depending on how often you go) for a gym membership with Eugene Rec (Echo hollow pool, Sheldon, Amazon, etc) which one pass is good for all those locations and some have gym and pool. The layout of the elements gym isn’t the best and they aren’t really good about informing members about activity or gym changes.

Extremely disturbed that after the Spfld closure they automatically transferred my membership void of my consent, void of providing the continuation of childcare as an option despite having space for it (which paralyzed my ability to train as a single parent) and failed to refund me. Disappointed further with the inability to contact the avoidant owner; and with the condition of the place- lack of sanitation, equipment disarray, damage throughout the infrastructure, flooded locker rooms and poor lightening. 😏
Priority absolutely reads economic and not in consideration of members.

Equipment is old.
There’s an annual fee and sign up fee for what?
Also when you cancel your membership make sure you plan it ahead. Otherwise they’ll charge another month fee because you need notify them 1 month in advance.
Question is what justifies that one month advance notification? Are they losing something if you don’t go another month?
Feels more like another way to squire money out of members

Leaving 1 star because zero is not an option. After being members of Elements health club for 5 years when they closed the W11th gym with no warning we where told.we could go to the Oakway location as it would remain open, this is extremely inconvenient for us so we decided to cancel our membership in June, which had to be done in person again extremely inconvenient. Fast forward to August we were still being charged, so we went back into the Oakway location and was told by the manager there was nothing he could do we would have to contact corporate and gave us an email address, when we asked for a phone number the manager said they don't give that out only the email address. This is theft.

They will gladly take your money. Good luck trying to cancel your membership. I was told that is all i had to do was call and cancel, now they hang up on me when I ask to cancel or for anyone that I can talk to about it. I am now forced to contact the BBB and reverse all charges from this horrible company. As for the gym, it is in constant construction. The layout and "new" showers are horrible. The pool is never clean and the equipment and pads on the equipment is in poor condition. The weight machine choices are very poor as well as the free weight selection. I am giving them a 1 star because I can't give them zero stars.

This is a review of Redwood Personal Training that operates at Elements Fitness Centers. I was a member at the West Eugene Elements. I paid in full for personal training for a year. Used 10 sessions before Elements closed. They will not issue a refund. DO NOT PAY IN FULL FOR TRAINING. I would go to Oakway, but it's 50 minutes round trip. Also, they don't pay their trainers well. I heard they get $10 per 1/2 hr. session, when Redwood charges $45.

I would also give 0 stars if I could. This review is nothing against the employees or workers of this gym but rather the owners. The owners are money driven, business hungry, sneaky and untruthful. I would not trust them with any information. THEY WILL DO WHATEVER THEY CAN TO TAKE YOUR MONEY>
Oakway FiiT (previously Elements) use to be a part of 3 gyms Elements Health Club owned. Two of their gyms closed in June, giving their members AND their employees a five day notice that the facilities would be permanently shut down.
Many people like myself decided to quit our membership because the location is not ideal AND this is the smallest of all the gyms. There is barely any machines and it’s always crowded, not cleanly. How they expected to transfer 100+ members from two gyms combined into one small location is beyond me.
I was told I had to email their membership services to cancel and I did as soon as I heard the building was closing (June 22). My billing cycle rolls around on the 29th, I get billed even though I emailed to cancel. It has taken 3 weeks and multiple emails from myself to finally get a response as of this morning. They responded saying I needed to give a 30 day notice. I’m sorry but if you tell your members and employees 8 days prior that you will be closing, how do you expect to give a 30 day notice? Additionally, they had been remodeling the bathrooms and system for the past few months at Oakway and emphasized how one of the perks of this facility was it’s remodel. If you weren’t planning on shutting down the other gyms ahead of time why put the money into Oakway? What bugs me about this is that there was no transparency and they waited until the ended of the month to tell everyone so they could get one more month of membership fees from its members.
I also had an incident with Elements Health Club two years ago. I went in to end my membership because I sustained an injury, I signed the paperwork and everything. I was told I had one more month cause I had to give a 30 day notice which in this case was totally understandable cause it was their policy. Six months later I get a call saying I got sent to collections because they never ended my membership in their system and I had been charged for all the months that were never paid. When I talked to them on the phone and provided all the agreements I signed to end they still made me pay $200.
Long story short, don’t trust their billing. Don’t trust their membership. I will never sign up for this gym or company again. I hope the owners get what they put out in this world.

The way they have remodeled the men's locker makes it very unfriendly for trans men. It used to have a little bit of privacy to change into and out of swim trunks but not anymore. The only family bathrooms are upstairs and the entrance to the pool is downstairs through the locker room. There are no lockers upstairs to put your belongings in either.

Joined this gym recently due to the proximity, and the very nice location, however my experience has been less then impressive. This is one of the dirtiest gyms I have ever been a member at, and it is not even close. The bathrooms are taken care of like they are bathrooms you would find at a highway stop on I-5, and the ceiling in the weight room looks like it is going to come down any second. Trash cans are overflowing with paper towels, and it looks as though the bathrooms upstairs/downstairs get cleaned at a MAXIMUM once a week. The gym has wayyy too many members to not be have a staff member dedicated to cleaning these facilities on a consistent basis.
If OSHA came out for whatever reason and did an inspection, it would get shut down in seconds! Discusting!

The staff at this gym are friendly, and the price is fair, however the facilities are absolutely disgusting and require attention. The roof has been leaking in the weight room in multiple locations for over a year, and all that management has done is place trash cans under the leaks to catch the drip.
The locker room is moldy, and has been under "construction" for nearly a month and a half. The weight room is always out of order, and you can tell this place never gets cleaned.
This management NEEDS to invest into their facilities. Members are cancelling their memberships because of how disgusting the gym has become, and the new ownership has done NOTHING to address the issues.
Why not invest into a professional cleaning service once in a while, and take care of members, instead of focusing all of the attention on selling personal/group training bundles and trying to make money off of members?
Hope these issues get addressed soon. This place is falling down hill FAST.

I’ve found this place to be not week kept up. The pool is cloudy, which means they aren’t keeping up with the chemistry right. They don’t clean locker rooms well. Handles falling off the showers and no soap. I’ve had multiple occasions when they run out of towels to clean off the equipment after use, so who knows how clean things are really. Worst, for me, was then general apathy to the situation by singer of the staff.

I also took advantage of the free check-in with a trainer. Nathan was incredible. I felt very comfortable and it was easy to be honest about my goals. He wasn't pushy about "signing up" to work with a trainer, which allowed me time to make sure I was committed. Cost options are certainly helpful.

Hello health nuts!! I decided after 2 years of not going to the gym since covid. I decided
To return to elements. To my surprise they helped me out with premium membership at 39.99...then I decided to get serious about getting back into shape when I met with Nathan and Kieth who are personal trainers.
These two are an amazing team, they sat with me and asked me my goals, then developed a plan to get there. Then they coached me on a half hour workout encouraging me, it felt good to have someone pushing me and holding me accountable to my goals. Then they worked with me for my goal to fit my budget.
I walked away feeling I did something for myself, my future and my health and feeling supported.
I want to add that the new manager, Melissa is cool and from what I see a good leader.
So check out what Elements has to offer, I'm glad I did... Paul the yoga guy is cool too.💪
