OC has been such a game-changer for me! Training here has helped me flourish in my soccer career not only in high school, but now collegiately. This program has improved my strength, speed, explosion, and injury prevention. My time at OC has been nothing but positive, both in the training and the people. It is such a supportive environment, and I am constantly being pushed to be better by the people around me. I would not be where I am without OC Sports Performance!

I did the intro to women’s strength training class (Strong Her) and absolutely loved it. As someone who has been interested in strength training for quite some time but clueless where to start, this class was perfect. Trainers Cait and Kelly were great with their instruction and amazing at modifying an exercise so everyone in the class was able to do it. Strong Her had a diverse group of women attending and it was so fun to grow with them.

OC gym is honestly great! They start you out with personal training to ensure you have a good foundation before starting with the group. I was slightly intimidated at the thought of joining a group fitness program, but everyone in the group is so supportive and the coach always demos the exercises before we start the workout. They also provide modifications, which is very helpful as a beginner!

I recently completed the StrongHer program at OC and it was great! After years of high intensity workouts, my body was feeling more exhausted than strong, and this program was so helpful in getting back to the right balance and feeling so much stronger. It is super approachable for all levels, and I appreciated the additional high-touch support and education that was offered. The group is fun, engaging and attainable for long term progress and sustainability. They use simple movements that are functional for everyday life. I liked that I could also continue the program past the initial 8 weeks.

I signed up for the Strong Her program. It was the best workout experience I have ever had. I learned so much, and not only about working out. The program is comprehensive, covering nutrition, overall health, and even helped me lower stress in my life and get more sleep. I feel strong and healthy overall. I eat better. I look forward to every class, knowing I’ll do something I’ve never done- and not being nervous about it, but excited! It is great being surrounded by women- we work hard, encourage each other, laugh, and go for the same goal. I resigned up and don’t think I’ll ever go back to how I was before. Highly recommend this program.

The coaches are great and I really have enjoyed the Strong Her program. It was informative and upbeat. I have gotten strong and really happy with my results. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 was it is a little pricey.

I can’t say enough good things about OC Gym of Bend. From day one, it’s felt like a little community. Michael was fantastic during the on-ramp training, super knowledgeable and made the process approachable and effective. Carrie and Grant are excellent coaches who strike the perfect balance of encouragement, fun, and challenge in every workout. I’ve loved the mix of zone 2 training and weightlifting. It’s exactly the kind of well-rounded programming I was looking for. Shoutout to Liv as well, she’s been so helpful and responsive with all the information and questions I had getting started. Highly recommend OC Gym to anyone looking for a supportive, fun, and results-driven fitness environment.

I am a part of the StrongHer program. It is a great community of women who know their stuff when it comes to the science of fitness, strength training and nutrition. I love having a cohort of ladies that all show up to work out together at the same times every week with the same knowledgeable, fun and dedicated coaches. I wasn’t doing any exercise at all before this and now I’m feeling strong again. Coaches work at your level so I never felt intimidated or inadequate. Highly recommend for any woman trying to get strong and healthy 💪🏻

I am grateful for the intentional programming of OC Gym.

I started CrossFit in early 2009. Since, I have been a member of 4 CrossFit gyms and, in the early years, trained (drop-ins) at numerous CrossFit gyms across the country due to personal or business travel.

Now in my late 50’s I am thankful to be at a gym that programs in a way that doesn’t predispose one to injury while at the same time develops strength through proven methodologies. OC’s programming promotes, and translates to, health and longevity for any that are willing to commit.

When I started at OC, I was battling shoulder pain. I have not only reduced this pain to nearly zero but I have also increased overhead strength and volume.

In addition, I have obtained over a half dozen PR’s since I joined approximately one year ago.

Coaches are knowledgeable. They are great at explaining the workouts and help each individual scale (modify) workouts as needed.

Coaches do an outstanding job at keeping the gym, and especially the floor, clean. Anyone familiar with CrossFit knows that due to the time on the floor for warmups to workouts, a clean gym floor is much appreciated.

OC is consistent in scheduling benchmark workouts to evaluate your individual progress.

In the beginning, I was surprised that I couldn’t jump in and try out the gym for a week as many CrossFit gyms offer. OC’s buy in, for most I presume, does not allow one to be “one foot in and one foot out”. Looking back, I am thankful for challenge OC Gym put before me from Day 1. I see the value. I believe it speaks volumes to the owner, Sean’s, confidence in what OC Gym is offering and the fundamental understanding that without sacrifice/risk/commitment, goals are rarely achieved. It reminds me of the old adage, “cheap is expensive”.

Lastly, if you still have any doubts, drop by the gym to see a wall filled with collegiate flags. These flags only make the wall when an individual under OC's coaching gets an athletic scholarship. I was surprised at how many flags I counted and then coach Michael asked me if I counted how many signatures there are on each flag. These outcomes speak volumes to me.

This is my 19th consecutive year doing CrossFit and my 4th CrossFit gym. Now that I’m in my 50’s, I really appreciate a gym that has knowledgeable coaches and excellent programming, all of which I’ve found at OC. My strength and aerobic capacity have consistently improved and I attribute it to the methodical and intentional programming (conjugate method) provided by owner Sean Wells. Despite what many people think about CrossFit in general, this gym in particularly safe and supports all fitness levels.

I found first found OC through their sports performance program as a soccer coach & when I saw how knowledgable Sean and team are I quickly got myself signed up for the adult group fitness classes. Now, three years later, I find myself in the strongest version of my body that I've ever been in!

OC's facilities contain just about anything you could need - kettlebells, barbells, dumbbells, bands, med balls, and so many more machines & items - and all contained in a building that has plenty of space to work out in.

The programming challenges you through strength and dynamic workouts, plus cardio focused zone 2 days (all depending on which day you go in). They do a great job of warming you up, finding modifications where needed, and recovering too. Most days you tackle strengthening lifts, maybe some accessories, then dive into a more intense workout. I've tracked my workouts diligently and it's awesome to see the progress in lifts I did a couple years ago vs where I am now.

People here are great, from encouraging & friendly fellow members to a top notch & knowledgable coaching team who help you keep proper form or find modifications as you need them. I've loved getting to work with them in my quarterly check ins to measure progress and set new goals. They even have nutrition experts to tap into if you need them.

They offer classes at a few times of the day (early morning, mid morning, noon, and early evening) so it's possible to get your workout fitting into just about any schedule. Sometimes parking can get a little rough (other classes coming/going at the same time) but in the gym they keep the classes in separate areas.

I'm thankful for my time with OC, and highly recommend them to anybody looking to get stronger and take hold of their health!

I have been training with Sean for over 15 years . Not only do I have more strength and endurance than most people my age, but have developed a healthy eating program that is sustainable. Taking advantage of the InBody scans provided I can keep a close track of data such as skeletal muscle mass and body fat rather than just my weight. OC has given me the gift of having no constraints on the active lifestyle that I choose to participate in.

The MomFit classes led by Jules McKee helped me to regain confidence in my own strength during a period of time when my body felt weak and foreign to me. Jules is an amazing, gentle, and non-judgmental coach who understands the value of baby steps (both literally and figuratively)! With her support I’ve been able to go from essentially zero conditioning and no fitness routine to working my way into the regular CrossFit classes. I highly recommend this series to any and all pregnant or new moms!

MomFit class!! If you can take it, do it!! I drove from Redmond and found it 100% worth it!
I’ve had a lot of postpartum anxiety and going to a group class sounded fun but scary. I had done CrossFit historically but I gained quite a bit of weight during pregnancy and had a c-section and was afraid of being “too big” and getting embarrassed. I also feared not being able to keep up.
It was the exact opposite experience! Jules is AMAZING and SO knowledgeable! There is absolutely no judgment, even being the biggest in the class. She offered modifications for every exercise before anyone had to ask, so I never felt singled out for needing to do an exercise differently. It wasn’t really even CrossFit. Everything was tailored to the post-partum journey, including guest speakers and taking extra time in between sets. The best part was taking my baby to every class. We were supported and encouraged to pause and tend to our babies needs like diaper changes and feedings, or whatever was needed. And seeing other moms and babies throughout the session is really great. It’s fun to see how fast all the littles grow in the short time you’re together.
The ONLY thing I had a tough time with, not even a complaint, was the price of the classes. Not being able to utilize the facility outside of the class times for that price is a bummer. But all the benefits outweighed it, especially when they worked with me missing a few classes over the holidays.
You can’t go wrong with the momfit class. It’s a great way to ease back in. If only they could do the class in Redmond!!

I’ve been going to OC for a number of years (I’ve lost count) and here is the number one reason why… if you live in Central Oregon, chances are you participate in inherently injury prone activities (skiing, hiking, mountain biking, trail running, etc). At some point, you WILL get injured doing those things. In order to reduce the risk of injuries and improve recovery time, strength training is absolutely paramount. The coaches at OC will not only teach you the right way to lift weights but can also design customized nutrition plans. They also have an on site body scanner to help you track your progress. Yes, OC will definitely make you look better but more importantly it will allow you to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle. Bottom line, if you want to be skiing well into your 80’s and workout with people who want to do the same, start coming to OC now.

I started CrossFit here several months ago and it’s been an excellent experience. The staff here is super knowledgeable, friendly and motivating. I am in my fifties and just starting on my journey to fitness again and they have been super helpful at adapting the workouts for me while at the same time pushing me a reasonable amount to keep me heading towards my goal. There is nothing intimidating or scary about this gym… I know, because I was both of those when I walked in the door. I would encourage you to give it a shot!

Private work with Kelly I highly recommend. She knows how to program and is very personable. I went in with some significant limitations and she was patient and encouraging every session. She made modifications on the fly constantly and didn’t bat an eyelash. She remembered things about my life and made a point to ask. She worked with the recommendations from my physical therapist also. Very good experience!

Oregon Crossfit is a 10 out of 10 gym! Before OC gym I had no experience going to a gym and I was quite intimidated at the process of choosing a gym to start at. I read the reviews for OC gym saying that they put a lot of emphasis on an individuals technique, they help with personal goals, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I am happy to confirm that all of this is true! I love this gym and I'm happy to have found a place to get healthier.

Not sure how I missed this email a few weeks ago but man how time flies!
No suggestions from me but I will say this has been by far and away the best gym experience i've had and it has a lot to do with the coaching staff I've had opportunities to be in class with. Their guidance is always solid and the Coaches do a great job in making sure members are supported and meet us where we are at - This is not a super easy thing to do!
Going through this mending process after breaking my knee has not been as long and arduous as what I was told at first. In a significant way this has been because of the strength I've built up over the last couple years as well as knowing I would have a good gym and the healthy supports that would help me get up to speed again.
I'm grateful you all are here and look forward to another great year :)

Oregon CrossFit is a fantastic gym that I feel so fortunate to have found. I found OC through a post by a fellow mama in a Bend facebook post sharing info about the Momfit cohort/program that coach Jules teaches. I was appx 4 months postpartum with my second child looking for a way to build back strength. I loved everything about Jules’ classes. I loved that I could bring my baby (or not), meet other mamas and build community, get strength guidance from a fellow mom that’s mindful of pelvic floor strength. Jules is also everything you want in a coach - approachable, kind, funny, smart, and strong. Once I finished the one round of the Momfit cohort I wanted to graduate to the general population fitness courses or “regular CrossFit”. I completed four personal training sessions with Michael to go over all the common weight lifting positions that would be covered in class. He was so incredibly patient with me, answering all my questions about proper form and my mom brain forgetting just about every rep I was on all the time. I also met Kelly (another coach) randomly at Trader Joes during all of this and through that one encounter have found another friendly person to chat with as I start general classes. To summarize my lengthy review, my enthusiasm for this gym and the experience come down to a couple of things:
1) I love the support they extend to mamas, getting us back into the gym with the focus being on our health, strength, and enjoyment
2) Not once have I left a class on the floor. Don’t get me wrong, the classes are hard, but compared to other CrossFit gyms it’s nice that they’re not going for the shock and awe of every workout being the hardest of your life. They’re focused on getting people strong and consistent over the long haul.
3) The people are kind and I notice (and love) the variation they have in ages in the class. I regularly see folks 60+, 20 something and all in between. It brings a nice energy to the gym and opportunities to connect with people in different phases of life.

If you’re on the fence in trying CrossFit or coming back to the gym, come here. You’ll be so happy you invested in yourself by investing in this community. I’m so grateful I took the leap. I look forward to every chance I get to move my body, meet new people, and learn new skills and new capabilities I didn’t know I had.

I've had a good experience going to this CrossFit gym! A few points:

• The onboarding was reasonable and showcased they have a skilled staff that take form and fitness seriously.
• The "general population" classes are at a wide variety of reasonable times.
• I'm fat and not particularly fit (... it's a journey), but I don't feel unwelcome or gawked at, and the workouts scale just fine. In fact, I feel very welcome and part of the community.
• I get good advice from all angles: instructors, gym communication, and even fellow CrossFitters.
• After an injury, the post-injury slow comeback was respected and well handled.

I literally cannot say enough good things about this gym. I've tried crossfit before (in Portland) and always felt like I was struggling to figure out how to do the movements correctly and worried about hurting myself. NOT the case at all here. The coaches are AMAZING at OC. The use the warm-up time to review how to do the movements for the day, break things down into smaller pieces, and are always super encouraging. They know your name, care about your life, and love to give advice and feedback when you ask. Best of all, it's a kickass workout! I'm moving in a few months and honestly devastated to be leaving this gym (but the coaches have helped me find a new gym for when I move!).

As an old school CrossFitter, I was banged up and started other movement practices. After taking 3 years off from CrossFit, I moved to Bend and joined Oregon CrossFit. I was stoked to find a gym that prioritized athletes getting stronger, staying healthy, improving based on individual needs. Programming is focused on helping individuals build strength and perform better outside the gym, rather than leaving you feeling crushed each week. Great training environment, great people, and high level coaching.

3 years ago I started personal training at OC. I was probably the most out of shape I’d ever been. At that time I had never maintained a fitness routine in my 39 years of life more than 3 months without getting bored or burned out. This was almost a last chance shot at fitness for me. When starting, I wanted to stick to personal training & I thought I wouldn’t want to be part of classes. CrossFit can have a stigma that you already need to be in shape to be there & that it’s really for the young & fit. Which I will tell you now that is soo not the case. There is a large age variety at OC that makes it inspiring for all ages to get after it. 3 years later I have never had more than 2 weeks off working out. I continue to be motivated & push myself. I’m never bored! Sean’s programming is fantastic & these coaches WILL get you to the goals you desire & ones you didn’t expect you had. As long as you put in the work! Every coach is amazing in their own way & I feel lucky to have a wonky schedule that allows me to get to experience each coach. You also don’t have to be able to do everything! They will appropriately scale (adjust) a lift, workout, etc based of where your skill is at or if you have an injury you are working thru.

Ultimately I started here wanting to be able to be fitter in my middle age & ski longer at the mountain. Not only can I ski longer but I am a more skilled skier because of OC. Everything I do daily feels better, stronger & easier. I’ve lost body fat percent & have utilized OCs awesome nutrition coaching to help in the process. Something else I didn’t expect to gain here was community. I’ve made some new friends & nothings more fun than pushing along thru a workout with a buddy. I know a lot of people scoff at the price of signing up for CrossFit gyms. I am in NO way your typical rich Bendite. What I will say is you are getting WAY more than your money’s worth in this gym with coaching & programming you wouldn’t get in a standard $40 a month gym. This is also an investment in your health & is saving you thousands in medical bills you could have later being unhealthy. This gym is the best & I can’t recommend it enough!

I started working out at Oregon CrossFit with my wife as something to do when the weather was cold in Bend. Sean took us both under his wing and accommodated our weird schedule. At first I didn’t mention to Sean that I was a distance runner because I thought he would just try and turn me into another muscle bound meathead who couldn’t run out of a paper bag. This was the absolutely dumbest thing I could have done for myself. Once I got over my insecurities of being a runner in a CrossFit gym and admitted to Sean my goals he went to work. Sean researched how to get the most out of runners while explaining the whole time why I need to be adding strength work to my existing routine.
My goal for the summer was to run the Tahoe Rim Trail 100 in under 24hrs which is something only about 12% of racers accomplish at that race.
A training week consisted of 3 days at CrossFit, running around 50 miles and rowing 10-20 miles. I didn’t immediately notice any changes but after a 2-3 months my leg muscles we less stiff after running, my back was no longer tight and I lost weight going from 187 to 180lbs. I also noticed my recovery time drastically reduced. What would normally take 1-2 weeks to recover I was able to start running within the week of a 50k or 50mile training race.
When race day came for the Tahoe Rim Trail 100 I felt well tapered and rested. I thought there might be a small issue with my calf but I didn’t worry about it too much. Having run some 100 mile races I knew issues were going to arise but it wasn’t going to be something I couldn’t handle. Another concern I had was that my weekly running mileage was about 10-15 miles less than previous years.
Once the race started I found myself running up front at a very comfortable effort. I was running alongside other runners who were breathing and working much harder. Around 17 miles into the race my calf started hurting and I was pretty discouraged, however it never got worse or to the point where I had to quit. Outside of my calf I felt great during the race with only having one low point and one bonk point. This was a hilly course with 4 long steep climbs which went very well. My calf prevented me from running as much as I wanted but I felt that the strength work I did with Sean kept my body intact to handle adversities.
I finished the race at 23 hours 30 minutes…a time that I had achieved before but on an easier course. The best part about all of this is that I was able to go back to the gym and start working out within 3 days; something that would have never happened before.
At this point I consider my racing season a success. I am continuing to train at Oregon CrossFit with Sean and plan to do so for my next season of racing. As with previous season of racing I have changed something in order to become faster. So, I plan to incorporate Sean’s visions and add back the 10-15 miles a week of running that this season didn’t allow.
Thanks Sean…this was a great racing season!
