About the Club

We offer personal training and small group training at your home, outdoors in the park or at our garage gym in SE Bend.
For those that do not live in Bend we offer virtual training via Zoom. And for the self-motivators, we offer online programming that you can do at your own pace.

Chelsea and Jacob at Outdoor Athlete are incredible. They've completely transformed my perspective on my strength and athleticism. As a 43-year-old mom of two young kids, I started weight lifting with them three years ago to alleviate the constant soreness from lifting kids, household chores, and my job as a mountain biking instructor. Despite thinking I was already "fit" from regular exercise, adding weights made a huge difference. My once "lanky" body is now muscular, and I can easily lift my 40-pound kids, heavy groceries, and event equipment. This transformation has boosted my confidence and changed how I feel about my strength. Thank you, Jacob and Chelsea!

Chelsea is the best, most highly skilled and intelligent trainer I have ever worked with. She has trained me every week for 18 months, since 6 months postpartum with baby #2, and I plan to work with her for as long as my body allows me to strength train. Here’s why she is so good:

- Chelsea uses a personalized approach to train each of her clients, setting a workout that will help you meet your goals whatever they may be. I am a former competitive endurance athlete and she has pushed my strength training to a level I never reached previously. Despite being 39, she’s made me the strongest I’ve ever been
- She is so knowledgeable about the human body, strength training, and what workouts to focus on in order to meet your specific goals. I ask her questions throughout our sessions and she always knows the science behind her approach and what is happening within your body
- She can pivot to a new exercise in seconds if needed. She’ll be watching my body and suggest a slight tweak based on how things might look or feel, particularly helpful for anyone who has injuries or past surgeries, or is postpartum
- Chelsea has done extra education for prenatal and postpartum women, particularly aware of diastasis recti (split abdomen) and how to help regain your strength, safely, following pregnancy. She knew I wanted to push myself in training, and she paid extremely close attention to my diastasis recti and other injuries to make sure we never over did-it and slowly, steadily built back strength
- She’s a really nice person, very caring and super fun to be around. It’s nice to spend an hour with someone who will both push me and put a smile on my face

I’ve worked with 4 trainers previously, and Chelsea blows all of them away with her knowledge and training skills. She is very good at what she does, and her results with clients speak for themselves.

I cannot speak more highly of Outdoor Athlete. I work with both Chelsea and Jacob and have never had a more personalized and fun experience training. I have also never seen the results or reached the athletic goals I have achieved through Outdoor Athlete. I have not only experienced an incredible change in my physique but also met trail and running goals I did not think possible. That included running a PR time for a half marathon, 2 minutes faster than my PR from 10 years ago! I also feel amazing continuing my training with Chelsea through my second pregnancy, so far feeling physically better and fitter than in my first, and motivated and encouraged by Chelsea’s training style. I started working out with Chelsea at Outdoor Athlete a few years ago.I am a 50’s plus male. I wasn’t way out of shape but not fit either. Our first sessions were tailored to where I was not where I wanted to go. Over time we tailored my workouts and concentrated on what we agreed was important to me. Core strength, balance, stamina and weight control. We work out 2 to 4 times a week outdoors in almost any weather, it’s part of the process for me to deal with what central Oregon weather gives us year round. As a small business with a busy family life too time is my most valuable asset. Working with Outdoor Athlete allows me to maximize my effort in the shortest time at a convenient location on my schedule. I maybe paying a little more than a PT at a gym but for me it’s money well spent. I would highly recommend Outdoor Athlete if you want to get or stay fit on your schedule at your convenience.

Chelsea and Jacob are incredible trainers and I feel so lucky to have found them! I’ve worked with many trainers over the years in various cities (San Francisco, Boston, Los Angeles), and Chelsea and Jacob stand out above them all. I found Chelsea when I was pregnant with my first child. She is so knowledgeable about prenatal fitness and I felt very safe working out with her. Thanks to her, I was so strong going into labor and had a quick easy delivery and easy recovery too! She helped a lot with postpartum recovery as well. Occasional I’ll workout with Jacob instead, and I love his positive energy and motivation! He makes workouts very fun. I highly recommend working out with Chelsea and/or Jacob if you have a chance!
