I started going to this gym a little before they went 24/7 and they’re mostly a decent gym, but I’ve noticed some things over the months that definitely raise an eyebrow.

Once they did change their membership access to 24/7, it seemed like they cut their staffing significantly. This is only speculation as I haven’t actually seen an employee to talk to since they’ve made the switch as their staffed hours have been greatly reduced.

On that note, with the reduced staffed hours, the gym has gotten much dirtier. There’s dust and debris all over on a consistent basis. Gym members leave their spray bottles and rags strewn about after leaving the gym. On top of that, equipment is left out of place and plates are regularly left on machines/bars. Additionally, members seem to have no idea how to rerack plates in a way that makes any sense. There will be one of every weight plate on one storage peg. I dunno…call me a relic, but the gym is not where you go to be lazy.

Another odd thing about Peak Lombard is that they have a combination of both kilo and pound plates. Perhaps this contributes to members not organizing plates correctly. I’d say just commit to the kilo plates as it looks like that’s what they have most of plus that’s what any self respecting gym uses.
Either way, just pick one.

This is just a personal preference thing…but the music is absolutely terrible gym music. It’s not bad music in general, but it has no place in a gym. I’d be willing to wager no one has ever hit a PR listening to a what’s playing over the loudspeakers. I was talking to another member about how bad the music is and apparently an employee put a note next to the stereo not to turn the music down? So it sounds like someone else had enough and attempted to put an end to it. I’d say 95% of the members just have ear buds in anyway, so just turn it off.

Most recently, it looks like they reorganized a bit. While doing so, they removed a barbell rack and just left a bunch of barbells all over the ground????
Additionally, whoever installed their barbell “gun rack” did so incorrectly and destroyed the knurling on most of their bars. It’s supposed to make contact with the sleeve, not the shaft.

I know it sounds like a lot of complaining, but it’s a good gym overall. It’s nice to have them in the neighborhood and it’s cool that they seem to be invested in making upgrades. They just seem to make some strange choices along the way.

Edit: bumped up the stars after the courteous reply.

Peak Performance on N Lombard is a great neighborhood gym , that has a little something for everyone. Its very welcoming and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I used to go to chain gyms and this is a very different vibe. It has almost anything you can think off, there is some new equipment and the best part is the bar racks that you can use for full bosy workouts. All the gum patrons are also very respectful and it's a very comfortable area to work out in no matter your fitness level. Also 24 hour gym access is very convenient.

First gym I've ever liked going to! The equipment is new and clean and everyone is respectful, the vibe feels safe which I haven't always felt at other gyms. I have been doing weekly training sessions with Tal and she is great at accomadating my floppy muscles and helping me feel more comfortable trying new things.

I have been training with Bryan for over a year and it’s never a dull moment. He’s keeping my workouts fresh and new each session. I appreciate his style and experience. Easy going but always pushing me. I am stronger which is helping me keep up with my son. The original goal of my beginning this weight training journey again.

I've had a great experience here. The environment is welcoming and relaxed. I started lifting as a way to manage stress and improve my health during a difficult career-transition, and I'm so happy I found Peak Performance! Recently some of the equipment was updated and I've enjoyed using these new machines. I would highly recommend this gym!

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of this gym. They have a great variety of specialized powerlifting equipment (cambered bar, deadlift bar, SSB, Swiss bar, chains, cages, etc.) and the whole place is very tidy with a respectful membership. Also fantastic that they have a big parking lot! I’ve really enjoyed my experience here.

This gym is walking distance from my folks, so whenever I visit Portland it works best for me.

The gym is clean (the staff are constantly sweeping during their working hours) and when equipment breaks, I've found that it's often back up and running no later than the next day.

The fee structure can be a pain, but if you get in contact with management, while they don't negotiate or change prices, they will work with you to find a plan that works.

I was looking for a gym near my house and decided to give this one a try. I really like it so far! The staff is very nice, the gym is really clean and they have a great selection of equipment. I have yet to do my introductory session with a trainer, but I look forward to that. Here's to getting in shape in 2024!

I signed up as member a few months ago. The Lombard gym is in my neighborhood so I decided to give it a try. As somebody who hasn't spent much time in a gym I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the staff was. They've made me feel right at home. Additionally, the personal training sessions I've had with Alec have set me on a transformative path in a short amount of time. Now I go 3-4 times per week and look forward to it each time!

This place is my new home away from home. I’ve had a lot of commercial gym memberships before, I even worked at one for several months, and I was never satisfied with the quality of machines, hygiene, environment and staff. Peak Performance, however, is the complete opposite.
I love the neighborhood community it presents: the gym goers leave their egos at the door and create a non-judgmental, welcoming vibe. The staff is beyond kind (Nate always puts a smile on my face!) and constantly keep the place well organized & clean. It’s a small building, but they’ve made such great use out of the space with plenty of machines (accessory equipment, cardio, power racks galore, full rack of dumbbells & kettlebells, TRX, sled, sand bags, etc.) - any cross fitter, power lifter, weightlifter or casual gym attendee would be more than satisfied with signing up here.
Fantastic hours as well, with almost no wait time for a machine. And I love that you can use any of their locations (the Alberta location even has a sauna).
I can’t say enough good things about this place! It’s made me so excited just writing this review, I’m about to go head over and weight lift now!

I mainly work out at the Alberta the location while this location is slightly smaller still a great place to work out...Plenty of racks and machines...They have standard cardio machines plus the woodway which is a burner. Front desk is always helpful and answers questions quickly. I would highly recommend Peak for beginners or experienced gym people...

I primarily joined to keep my spirits up during the rainy months when it’s harder to get outside. Nate’s genuine, welcoming, and warm demeanor has been an unexpected highlight of joining. I also often see Nate cleaning which is appreciated at a gym. It’s a solid gym at a great price, but Nate’s consistent friendliness is what’s harder to find nowadays.

I have been going to Peak Performance in North Portland since June of 2023. I like it because it’s small, local, clean, and most importantly, all of the staff are really friendly and helpful. I have had positive interactions with Skyla, Asa, Natasha, and Nate, all of whom have helped me with one thing or another and are happy to engage in a little chatting. Finally, my personal trainer, Alec, is great. I’ve been working with him since June and I appreciate that he listens to my concerns and questions, and has always met me where I’m at. Alec is grounded and mellow and helps to push me to meet my goals, but he also keeps things light with some banter in between sets.
Having a nearby gym that meets my expectations has helped make it easier for me to go regularly, and work towards my goals.

The Lombard location has everything you need for a workout including new squat racks and weights, benches, dumbbells, kettlebells, bikes, rowers, treadmills, etc. The front desk staff are always very welcoming and there for help when you need it. Great little gym which has everything I need. Plenty of freeweights and squat racks- fewer treadmills which always takes up too much space in other gyms. I've never been here and felt it was overwhelmingly busy. Top marks for staff who keep things really clean which is huge for me!
Also, members are all very respectful, and there are plenty of other women lifting here, so it is very space approachable if you're a beginner.

Lombard location is small but has everything you need, I prefer the smaller size because it's lowkey and doesn't have the bustling mega-gym vibe. I work out in the mornings and it's never that busy, always plenty of squat racks. There's ample parking with bike racks also available. Always clean and members are good about wiping down equipment, spray bottles and sanitizer are readily available. New AC, friendly staff.

I’ve been going to this gym for several years now intermittently as I live in Australia but find myself in this neighborhood when I visit Portland. Still impressed - clean, spacious, well equipped and the staff are awesome. Like today when the club GM, Natasha, enthusiastically welcomed me back for the Summer. It says something about management when staff stay. Thanks, Natasha.

This gym has exceeded my expectations! As someone who has never been to a gym before, I was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. The culture of this gym is truly accessible and friendly, which made me feel right at home.

As a trans person, I greatly appreciate the gym's commitment to providing gender-neutral bathrooms at this location. This small yet significant gesture has made a world of difference in my overall comfort level during my workouts.

Moreover, the staff members have been exceptional in their friendliness and helpfulness. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome and supported during my first few visits.

Overall, I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a welcoming and inclusive fitness community. I am excited to continue my fitness journey here and look forward to coming back soon!

Natasha is awesome as she asks us how we are doing and what at the gym can be improved! Wanted a curled bar for triceps. It was really good to for her to get that bar out to us in a hurry over at the Lombard facility. All the gym staff do a great job. There are a couple of fellas that play some great rock metal music for working out at night. Gets me and my workout bro hammering the weights!

The perfect gym for people who love weightlifting. So many squat racks you never have to wait for one. Definitely a gym for people who know how to use free weights because there aren’t a ton of machines, but honestly that’s what makes the space feel so open and uncrowded. It has tons of equipment—everything you could need, even resistance bands and etc.

The facility itself is nice enough, but they have little to no customer services when it comes to account issue. My account frequently does not properly pull my credit card info, there is no reason there should be an issue on my end. By the time I am notified of an outstanding balance it is quite large. I also cannot get any help on how I cancel my membership there. I am rather frustrated.

I loved this gym from day one but the new layout is truly odd. For example, the smith machine is in the now, old group class room with the wood floors that would have been great for stretching and working out with lighter weights. I asked the employee at the desk but she was not able to provide much more information to why things were moving. I hope more consideration into the layout and functionality is put forth or is more noticeable to customers.

I’m very grateful that Peak Performance is within walking distance from my new house! The gym location on Lombard is clean, well-organized, and set up with great intention and very meticulously. As a former personal trainer, I really appreciate their assortment of bumper plates, many areas for barbell work and pull-ups, and the abundance of free-motion style machines. PThe stretching room/area is well-organized as well. Great use of space! Again, grateful I found this place, I’d highly recommend it over a big-box gym. No pushy sales people, very straightforward membership options and incentives for brining friends. Well, time to get big, lol…
