What used to be a calm and productive workout environment has become overcrowded and frustrating since the gym started opening at 5 a.m. instead of 4. There are no cardio machines available, equipment is constantly backed up, and it’s impossible to get a proper workout in. The 4 a.m. crew wasn’t small — we showed up consistently and the staff was already there to support that hour. Today I had to wait in line to even get checked in!

On top of that, the reduced hours have clearly affected cleanliness — the gym simply isn’t being maintained to the standard it once was.

Planet Fitness built its brand on being a 24/7 gym, yet we’re paying more for fewer hours and worse conditions. The 4 a.m. community is coming together to make our voices heard, both directly and through social channels. We want the original opening time restored so members can actually use the gym they pay for.

Today I saw signage that informed of new hours. I’ve been a loyal 4:00am going patron for years! Now they aren’t opening until 5??? I guess a company called “Easy Mile Fit” has acquired multiple clubs in the area and are switching things up. The staff seems unhappy about it and now loyal members are. For healthcare and first responders who work in Newberg at 7am and Sherwood is their home gym this absolutely won’t work!! I sincerely hope they take a moment and rethink this as there are many of us that come daily at 4. This club has been AMAZING until the new ownership. I’ve already noticed a change in the attitude and culture since they took over.

While the price matches the quality and value (both are cheap) buyer beware; they will charge you forward looking yearly fees that are non-refundable and according to their manager do nothing but "lock in" your rate.

I guess this is how a company that's business model only works when people don't use what they pay for has to operate.

Clean and well organized. Staff are all friendly and readily available to help/answer questions. Assistant Manager is extremely polite, professinal and helpful.

Just wanted to add some comments concerning the facility. Still clean but I've noticed it's hit or miss if the paper towel dispensers work or not. I watch customer after customer attempt to use paper towel dispensers, to clean eqiptment after use, and see the frustration in their face when they dont operate. I've also noticed one of the soap dispensers in the men's locker room has not been operable for 2 weeks. One of the main doors to enter gym has been broken for many, many months and leaves 1 door for everybody coming and going. Hopefully these items can be addressed as I still enjoy coming here but I'm slowly starting to consider switching home gym location

Favorite location around. Keep the place pretty clean even though a small location with high traffic. Only complaint is that staff keep this place consistently super cold. Have asked staff many times to turn up but nothing sticks. Most people wear full sweats and hats, especially the older population. Too cold, which makes me often go to King City because the temp only gets okay once you have run for 30 minutes. Staff are great here as well.

Update: location going downhill since the new manager started. Bad demeanor and seen multiple times arguing with customers. She even argued with me when i reported a gaggle of kids (they gave free access to 14 yo during the summer) on their phones and recording in the locker room while people changing/ showering. TV now tuned to the 700 Club and super bad mix of music. Forcing people to watch extreme right-wing religious tv is unacceptable. Most staff are idle now.

I’ve been a loyal member at Planet Fitness in Sherwood for two years. I’ve always loved the idea of a “Judgement Free Zone” — a place where anyone, no matter their fitness level, could feel supported and encouraged. But after what happened recently, I’m honestly heartbroken and rethinking my membership.

On July 28th, I brought my husband (a competitive bodybuilder) and two friends to work out with me. One of our friends was brand new — it was literally his first time stepping into a gym. While training, a weight was accidentally dropped — nothing crazy or out of control, just a moment that happens when you're genuinely pushing yourself.

A staff member named Patricia approached us in an incredibly hostile and demeaning way. She followed my husband around the gym, demanding he either lower the weight dramatically or leave. It wasn’t a conversation — it felt like intimidation. Meanwhile, she hovered around our new friend, making him feel embarrassed for not knowing how to use the machines. He left feeling judged and defeated — and now doesn’t want to come back to the gym at all.

I can't stop thinking about that. How many people are out there finally building up the courage to walk into a gym, only to be met with that kind of treatment?

We weren’t being reckless. We weren’t rude. We were just a group of people trying to better ourselves, and instead of encouragement, we were made to feel like a problem.

I’ve always followed the rules. I’ve brought guests. I’ve encouraged others to join. But the way we were treated completely shattered the trust I had in this location. If this is what the “Judgement Free Zone” looks like when someone doesn’t fit the mold, then it’s not a space that lives up to its values.

I hope management takes this seriously, not just for us, but for every beginner who deserves a gym that welcomes them — not one that sends them home feeling worse than when they arrived.

This PF is very nice. Newly built, and all of the staff is fantastic. Equipment is constantly cleaned, locker rooms in great shape and overall I'd recommend it to anyone for the price. All general workout equipment is accessible here.

I like to tune out as much as possible while working out, but it's rather difficult when the tvs are not always working (some are blurry, some do not have the closed captain wording, two are on the same exact station directly next to each other). When I called to address this, I was told by the girl who answered the phone, "we don't have the ability to change the tvs." Really? Seriously, that is your canned response? So, the tvs are not maintained then. This does make sense since some have not been working properly for at least 6 months now! I also emailed the Sherwood location, no response. Great customer service here (that is sarcasm). Also, when they changed the machines a few months ago, they changed out some of the ellipticals to something similar to a elliptical only the arms don't move, isn't that the whole point of a elliptical, to work out your arms? I rarely see anyone use these new machines. I guess I will either find another gym or go to the Tigard location since they don't really seem to care much here about pleasing their customers.

This location has all the equipment you could ask for! The staff are incredibly friendly, and I'd like to highlight one staff member in particular who has gone above and beyond in answering any questions I had about membership, black card membership, and various services offered at this location. I was approached by management when I was working out this week. Apparently, someone complained that I didn't wipe down a piece of equipment after using it and they stated that they didn't want to use it b/c of it.
As I understand it, cleaning the equipment after each use is a suggestion and not a requirement.
Management approached me publicly and asked me to follow the policy.
It was done in front of other members working out around me.
The way I see it is, and I did tell the management member this, if someone is that freaked out about germs, they can simply wipe the equipment down before they use it since frequently you do not see the person using it before you or whether they have wiped it down or not.
I have seen many people not wipe down the equipment after use and i have never seen anyone approached by management before.
If wiping the equipment down after each use is a requirement for membership, then they have just lost mine.
I disagree with the germaphobe mentality that has run rampant in our culture since Covid. It is over the top and has reached ridiculous proportions.
If someone is uncomfortable with my practices, they can wipe down the equipment themselves since other folk's behavior is out of their control.
And if they refuse to use the equipment b/c the person before didn't clean it, then I would say they need more resolve on getting fit.
Someone was having a bad day and decided to zero in on someone else's behavior.
This should not have elicited a reprimand from management.
I have been going to this gym for 7 years and have never been told that it is policy to be reinforced by management to wipe the equipment down after use.
I will no longer be frequenting this location.
I have been going to gyms all my life and the public has been sharing the same equipment without the need for disinfection after each use, and I am still alive and well.
I personally do not have a problem with going to a restaurant, a movie theater, or any other public place and sitting in a seat that hasn't been disinfected or using a table that hasn't been doused with peroxide.
Our society has become a hive of anxiety about death and illness.
I will not participate in this kind of anxious behavior nor will I enable it.

I was nervous to get a membership here because my lifelong issue of body shaming in gyms. They're known for their quirky ads downright prohibiting gym bros, grunting, and shaming. The Sherwood location is stellar. Clean, friendly, and great hours. I love that there are duplicate weight machines available and it's never heavily busy. Just a heads up though, I've realized they don't have heavy free weights/barbells for things like deadlift. They do have Smith machines. I have the premium membership which is $25/month and includes access to massage chairs, hydromassage lounges, tanning, discounts, and more. More importantly, I'm welcome and accepted here in my large body. Haven't experienced any shaming and I love the diversity here. Keep it up! Shout out to the staff member whose name I can't remember but I typically see him cleaning. So genuine, caring, and appreciate his warm interactions. You bring light to everyone's day!

The people have no gym etiquette when they use the weight they leve them everywhere and you got to look for weights to work out.

People sleep on the machines and when you start working out they will come and ask you how many more sets you have?

One kid took my lock off my locker and I came in the locker room and saw him with my lock in his hand.

The piss on the toilet seat and you will have to clean it before using the toilet.

Some people will take a bunch of dumbbells and keep them under their bench so no one can use the dumbbells even though they are only using one at a time.

Ladies dress very provocative and it’s difficult to concentrate on my work out.

I spoke to the manager about this they need to educate these people about public gym etiquette.

Came in after driving through a blizzard to get a great workout in a shower and more.

When I walked in I was not greeted by any of the staff, including what looked to be a manager behind the counter whom wore a different color shirt then the rest of the staff.

Imagine walking into the gym and it seems as if the staff are laughing at you and then they hang their heads down not even a hello nothing just laughter. You walk by look at each staff member and get blatantly ignored even after saying, "Howdy!"

My first time walking into this Planet Fitness and this was the interaction that I have which caused an immediate 3 stars.

The facility is well maintained and all equipment was functional.
The locker room was clean as well.
I do love that they the lockers have the roller codes, meaning that you will not need to bring a lock!

I do love that the gym is not full of TVs, I wish they would show things related to fitness.

There might be some machines that you are looking for that are not at this location.

The tanning beds, massage chairs, beds, and more are in excellent condition as well. There are also small lockers outside of locker rooms incase you are not wanting to go into a locker room.

The first impression is the reason for the 3 stars.

Total scam. They didn't cancel my membership when I went in to cancel and I've been charged several times since then. Opened a claim with my bank and suddenly I'm being charged even more money for "overdue and missed payments" that I absolutely did make because they're on my bank statements. They will quite literally punish you for trying to right their mistake. I've been a member on and off since they opened this location and trusted them for years. They screwed that away for a couple bucks.

Staff is extremely friendly and makes you feel welcomed. I like using the crowed meter on the planet fitness app, as it is a great tool to monitor when I can use all of the gym equipment. Planet fitness environment is great for all ages, you can work out at your speed and fitness level and not feel uncomfortable or judged. The equipment is always cleaned by a staff member including the facilities. My overall experience has been great.

It's not $10 a month. It's $10 a month, plus $50 a year, plus a $50 initiation fee, plus a 1-year commitment with a $60 early termination fee. On top of that, if they rip you off by, let's say, continuing to charge you after you cancel your membership, you also signed an arbitration clause so you can't even sue them. They require both a bank account for direct withdrawal AND a credit card.

The monthly and annual fees are resonable. The initiation and early termination fees are transparent attempts to manipulate customers into paying for a service they are no longer using or no longer want. The arbitration agreement buried in the fine print is offensive and should not be legal. The multiple payment methods wouldn't be an issue if Planet Fitness didn't have a history of withdrawing unathorized payments.

Staff and management lack accountability and integrity.

Edit in response to reply: Not sure what dealing with a female has to do with anything since the incident occurred with two male staff members....

Second edit: I called today to verify when I would be receiving my club dues in return after my membership was cancelled. I was assured by Ashley (the manager) that Jesse (one of the male staff members mentioned above) would no longer be working there as a result and that I would no longer be a member as the final decision. Guess who answered the phone today? Jesse. Guess I'm the only one who knows how to accept their consequences.

Josh and Jesse should feel ashamed of themselves for not taking accountability for their actions and words. True cowardice imo. Ashley lacks integrity and is using her position as manager for herself and her entourage, not her customers. I wish planet fitness knew how to hire people who were honest and had a conscience.

Smaller location, Missing many chest exercise machines. Particularly the chest press incline and row machines. The cleaning stations are different then other plant fitness's stations having a paper towel dispenser with only one making you have to wait for others to clean your own machine or bench. Staff was nice and helpful, Probably one of better things about the location.

It would be an okay gym if billing wasn’t such an issue all the time. I’ve had to update my debit card multiple times and they’re still billing an old account that’s been closed for over a year. I tried to update it on my app but the app says I need to call the gym. I call the gym and they said I have to speak with a manager and the manager isn’t there. Around in circles we go. The ONLY reason I go to this gym is it’s near my house… otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

The women's shower did not drain properly . water was puddling up and draining outside the shower. my "guest" stated that in the men's bathroom someone else's shower water was draining into their shower. The staff was great.

I’ve been to several planet fitness clubs as my city alone has 3 and I travel often. This location is by far the best I’ve ever been to. Staff is very friendly and doesn’t give off the snoodish vibe I usually get. I usually check in and run because I’m so uncomfortable (to the point I never learned half the machines until they posted QR codes on them because I was too uncomfortable to ask)
Along with a friendly staff everything is very clean (also not common at most)
I’m jealous now that this is not my home location and that it’s all the way across the US from me :/

I've been a black card member since 2018 when they had their grand opening in Sherwood, never had a complaint over all these years about my tattoos or what I wear but in the last few months something has changed drastically for the worse, planet fitness in all their willingness have become the most judgmental and discriminatory fitness centers in America.
The selectively and randomly remove people or complain about others because of their religious or political beliefs, this was done to me because of a fraternity tattoo that I have on my neck that you can see when I wear a tank top. The staff has asked me to leave twice now, selective discrimination and their hypocrisy knows no bounds.
If you want to join a place that will discriminate and judge you unless you fit into their exclusive categories I highly recommend finding another place to socialize and to get yourself in physical health.
It is not a judgment-free zone that is just their mantra that they don't adhere to.

The customer service is top notch, from Cici especially; I love the space, especially the 30 minute express workout circuit, and all of the equipment works well; and the black card amenities - especially the tanning and new bulbs just added - are my favorite perks of all. Plus, it’s all provided at an extremely affordable price. All around great gym that keeps me coming back, even living 20 minutes away!

The staff at this location (in Sherwood, Oregon) is REALLY GREAT! I lost my water bottle, and did not know they do not accept any actual monetary currency. As I was unable to electronically tender any currency, the staff at Planet Fitness graciously provided me with a complimentary bottle of water.

Not a bad gym, as long as you are not there around the time school gets out.
I have been to two Planet Fitness locations and will say this is very easily my least favorite of the two. It is very much worth it to just make the drive to Beaverton.
I have been to this location 3 times when I happened to be in the area. There are quite a few high schoolers here on weekdays, which apparently is due to it being near a high school. No problem, they need to work out too. Yesterday I went to join a relative and work out together and there seemed to be a LOT of high schoolers. Many were just sitting on machines scrolling on their phones. It made it difficult to use machines because many would just sit down to scroll near their friends on machines nearby.
Nobody seemed to know how the 30 minute express workout goes, as people were bouncing around randomly from machine to machine making it impossible to follow the program. I saw probably 10 other people come in and use some machines, but not a single other person attempted to follow the numbers. Which is fine, but they would jump in on machines next on the program so I also had to bounce around. Some kids were also just sitting at machines in the 30 minute express scrolling for 10+ minutes at one machine. I was able to use maybe half of the machines. There are memes taped on the wall in the 30 minute express area and on the walls of the main floor about not scrolling on your phone, but that was about it. I let the staff know people (mostly high schoolers) were just sitting on machines doing nothing, and they said they are annoying and I am welcome to yell at them.
While I appreciate the permission, yelling at people is not what I go to the gym or pay a membership to do.
I went to use other machines, and later heard the lunk alarm go off for the first time when I didn't see anyone doing anything lunk-worthy (in my opinion).
Previous visit I used the total body enhancement for the first time. I read the instruction poster, since staff did not give me any information. I walked in and hit start and reached for the handles outlined in the first line of the poster to find there are none. I was confused. The voice then said to stand on the footprint outlines on the vibration plate. I could not see any of those either, I believe they are just worn off. So I just stood wherever I was and grabbed the poles which I soon found were fans.
The machines are clean, locker rooms are clean, and they have good shows on TV. It is just not at all my first choice of gym in the area, and I now know I will not go back if it is around time school gets out.

Signed up after being invited as a guest about 3 weeks ago. I wanted to use the amenities I.e. massage tables etc. I was told if I signed up for the membership my friend could use the amenities as my guest. The usual daily staff are amazing, the manager Kristin I believe it was was training a new guy, and he said that we can’t do that in front of other guests, then radio’d for Kristin where she proceeded in no private manner that his standard membership excludes him from the “clubhouse” amenities.

Listen, rules are rules and I get playing by the book. By my friend works out 6 days a week and is on short term disability after recovering from Covid in which he was in a coma for 14 weeks and had less than 5% chance of living. He is living with me where I cover all of his bills and food, and he took great pride in finding PF and paying his own way. $10/month is amazing deal. But the way it’s been handled (several times according the bad reviews of the club) upset me to the point of cancellation and leaving this review. I’ve never left a review in my life. We both felt embarrassed and excluded. Like a good buddy he offered to wait in the car while I used the massage table. I would never do that. It sounds minor but the whole message is nobody feel excluded, it’s written everywhere, read your reviews, this has happened multiple times where people are getting embarrassed. And it’s not like he was a member. It wouldn’t have killed anyone to say “ I’ll allow it this time, and after I would love to talk to you about upgrading your membership and all that comes with it!”

These are mostly kids who work here and they’ve been great, the manager is the leader and her attitude will trickle down, train your leaders in “Stellar customer service”.

And I’m aware you have the lowest prices and offer a finer gym than anything else in that price range, but a business who doesn’t put people first, doesn’t stick around. No matter how many memberships you have. Raise your price if that’s what it takes to train your managers. PF built an empire on judgment free facilities, and I personally bought into it, that was shattered today.

The club is always clean and employees are pleasant and helpful. I always feel comfortable and very much at ease here in the Sherwood PF. For the monthly dues amount there is a lot included. I would be open to supporting an expansion of the facility to include more traditional aerobic classes in a dedicated room for a little more variety. Otherwise - love my local gym!

Staff is friendly-it's a smaller Planet Fitness so there isn't a ton of free floor space; I use apps that use bands, kettle bells, etc and this space is limited for workouts like this. Otw great facility-always super clean!!

Things didn't work out for me and Planet Fitness and so when I decided I would cancel, you have to bring in a signed letter of cancellation or send it certified mail, they informed me I would still be responsible for $39.99 annual fee. I asked to see where I signed to this, they could not show me. In any case, I paid $60 for 2 month membership to a fitness club with limited space to even do sit-ups. I really feel like their practice of taking the annual fee is unscrupulous, especially when I only have been a member 6 weeks. I have no recollection of signing for a fee like that, furthermore, I was sick for 10 days and there was no way I was going to send a signed cancellation or bring one with as sick as I was. I expressed this to them and they could CARE LESS. This place clearly does not care about the health of its members, just how they will take in your cash from your pocket. I DO NOT recommend this gym do to their business practices.
