I joined Planet Fitness (Tigard) in March 2025 and started taking classes immediately to continue improvement on my hip mobility (due to hip replacement) and overall conditioning. I recommend this facility as it is clean, not overcrowded and the front desk staff extremely helpful and wonderful attitudes. However, my highest 5 Start recommendation and the primary reason I go is due to this location's trainer - Marci!! She is fabulous, cares about her clientele, very creative in all the individual classes making them flexible enough that if you want to really push yourself you can! In the 9 months I have been attending her classes (including stretch class) I have seen tremendous improvement in my overall strength and flexibility. If Marci were to leave this location, I would follow her... she is that good. I know this location has just changed franchise hands so I am watching to see if there is any impact to the gym's options and support of Marci's training. I have been very happy with the previous owner and hope this new owner(s) maintain the same quality.

I can’t say enough great things about Marci at the Tigard Planet Fitness! She has such an incredible gift for making every client feel seen and valued—no matter how many of us are in the group, she always remembers our names. That personal touch makes a huge difference.
Her workouts are creative, fun, and never repetitive. She constantly introduces new exercises that keep things interesting, so you’re too engaged to even notice how hard you’re working. At the same time, she’s extremely attentive to form and safety, taking the time to correct positions in a supportive way. I always leave her sessions feeling challenged, safe, and motivated.
Beyond the workouts, Marci creates such a positive, welcoming environment. She’s upbeat, encouraging, and makes everyone feel comfortable regardless of fitness level. Training with her is truly one of the highlights of my week.
Planet Fitness is lucky to have her—if you’re looking for a trainer who will push you while keeping things fun and safe, I highly recommend Marci!

Update: since this gym has opened they've gone through so many changes, hours, staff, equipment issues, incompatible fitness schedule.. no gym in the area does a split schedule for fitness classes.. i mean why what was the thought here? and 3rd round of managers. I get having policies in place for a reason..... but if the policy of no talking in the black card spa is of policy then you need to have better signage in this spa.... I have never ever had an issue before while ive been at this gym.... i was told I need to leave the spa if im on the phone, I wasn't talking loud at all, I was quiet, I wasn't in there for long at all.... had a member heard me and said I was being loud of course id have toned it down.... ive seen numerous members at this gym talk on their phones in this location in the spa..... you guys really need to reevaluate how this location is ran...... im sad its my home gym.... but I wont be returning ever..... I am totally considering canceling cause of how stupid this location is now..... you guys need to work on your member service towards your members i dislike this gym now and only went cause of the convient access to the freeway.... not anymore......

Alright, the 1 star is due to manager policy. Let me elaborate. I think the gym functions as well as any other planet fitness in terms of equipment and cleanliness. Overall, pretty solid affordable gym.

However, I ride a motorcycle 9-10 months out of the year. Currently, it is my only form of transportation. I came from the Clackamas location previously, and I was always allowed to leave my helmet up front behind the desk (since the lockers are too small to accommodate helmets). For some reason, its the policy at the Tigard location that they are not allowed to do this.

The solution provided was A. Don't bring a helmet. B. Leave it up at the desk space to the left of the entrance (Anyone would simply be able to walk out with it). C. Walk around the gym with my helmet.

This baffles me. I find it hard to believe that I am the only one who rides a motorcycle to the gym. Even assuming I have a lock on my bike, its oregon, and it will undoubtedly rain and soak my helmet. I understand trying to protect against accusations of a scratch or damage, but again, Ive never once had this issue in the years I went to other locations.

This is more than a minor inconvenience for someone who rides year round.

To be clear, the employees are understanding and polite. The manager was slightly rude, and was not.

Yes!! I love coming to this Planet Fitness. I’m not sure something about it makes me feel so safe. Wesley is incredible. I was unaware of the transfer requirement/fee after attending so many days. If they have spray cleaner in the gym part for equipment they can have it in the shower too.

Though most PF clubs are really good with a lot of machines and variety, spacious locker rooms, disabled showers, and more, this one is my least favorite. it seems bigger than some others but most do that is just more cardio equipment. Smaller lockers than even the smaller clubs and their disabled shower was broken, which made it hard to shower for myself as someone with physical disabilities. The staff seemed a bit aloof and disconnected with the atmosphere as well. They were still very helpful when asked, it was just hard to get their attention it seemed. There also seemed to be fewer cleaning stations around the machines, which means more distance between them and more people at them at one time. Definitely not the best PF club in the area.

Disappointing Experience – Poor Flexibility and Customer Service

I normally don’t leave negative reviews, but I had a really frustrating experience at Planet Fitness today. My wife recently signed up and invited me to join her for a quick workout during her lunch break — one of the few windows of time she has available. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the staff wouldn’t allow her to check in at the front and insisted she use the app.

When she tried, the app wouldn’t work and ended up locking her out. There was no flexibility or alternative offered, and we were just stuck. I had taken time out of my day and made the trip over, only to end up wasting our short window with no workout at all. It was a really disappointing experience that left a bad first impression — especially when something as simple as checking in could have been handled more helpfully by staff.

We were looking forward to getting started here together, but this made us second-guess if Planet Fitness is the right fit.

I've been really enjoying my membership at Planet Fitness. I can only speak for the Tigard, OR branch for sure, but I also appreciate that I have the option to change my primary location, if needed. The facility is large and filled with strength training and cardio machines. I tend to do cardio on my own and specifically joined in order to add strength training. I have especially appreciated the classes that are offered with my membership. These classes have allowed me to become familiarized with many different machines and methods for strength training and I also enjoy the community aspect of the entire place. It's a positive environment and feels like a really everyone is there doing their best to be healthy and active.

I always enjoy my visits to the Tigard Planet Fitness, on Dartmouth Street, which are covered by my insurance. I have always been very well treated. The temperature is always cool and the air is always moving. Perfect for exercising. The gym is big and feels spacious. There are always dozens of treadmills, stationary bicycles, and ellipticals to hop on. And I can always find a specialized training machine that I want to work out with. Cleaning machines is encouraged and I always clean mine afterwards.

Great gym. Been a black card member since it opened. I love the convenience of being able to tan or massage then lift. The gym has a good selection of weights, dumbells, cables, 5 smith machines, dozens of specialty machines. Gym & locker room is always super clean, all machines are wiped down by staff & members after use. I would like to see some step platforms added to do Romanian Deadlifts on smith racks..

Edit/ update 04/19/25 - This morning I received an email from a Daniel Sotelo , apparently Director of Operations. It wasn't to ask about my side of things or what occurred. Without listening to my side he canceled my membership with no discussion with me. How disappointing for a leader to not take both sides into consideration or hear somebody out before making a decision. After all as a corporation you have taken my dues for several years now. Planet Fitness do you not believe members deserve more respect then this? As a leadership team Daniel don't you believe you should've had the decency and courtesy to hear my side of things even if the end result wasn't in my favor . I still would've liked to be treated as a decent human being with respect. I'm shocked by the treatment .

I have been a member awhile and recently moved to Tigard and started using that location. When I initially joined I asked if I could show my legal photo ID in lieu of posting my photo on planet witness site. They have a note that pops up that states check ID, and when i come in i identify myself. I pay my membership on time, I'm kind and friendly and don't bother anyone. In the last several years I have never had an issue. However when I started coming to this location the harassment started. Interrupting on the treadmill when I had started my workout, calling, sending emails and threatened me telling me that I have to take a pic or be barred from the gym. I responded back to the email and asked to see a copy of the policy. I received a response and wanted to think it over a couple of days prior to responding. Apparently the manager Wesley told staff to call him if I arrived and harass me. When I went to the gym this evening staff checked me in then waited until I got on the treadmill and started walking to come over and harass me and try to force me to take a pic. He told me Wesley stated that he is to force me to leave the gym if I don't comply. The situation was embarrassing, I felt humiliated and harassed. This is a gym membership folks , Is it really necessary to force someone to leave over this and humiliate them? Could Wesley not have been reasonable and said please have her reach out to me tomorrow so we can discuss. The thing is it has not been an issue at the other Planet Fitness locations over the last few years. I went to the gym to relieve stress and ended up humiliated and crying forced to leave. Seeing this the other front desk staff says sarcastically have a good night after they kick me out . The thing is this could've been handled so much better. I'm disappointed in the way I was treated. I would never treat a customer this way. As a manager he could've listened and said this is what I understand the policy to be. However I know you have been coming to the gym as a member for some time , let me run this up the chain of command and see if it's acceptable to continue as you have been doing which is identifying yourself with ID. However he chose to harass me and instruct his staff to kick me out. The staff member in question was very calm and polite which I appreciate, but was forced to do what his manager instructed which led to an awful situation and outcome. I really don't get why Wesley tried to take such a hard stance on this. The situation has been handled very poorly.

...and it is okay. If you go there to work out on cardio or weights, then it's 5-stars! They have the Black Card area for sun beds, red light therapy, hydro-massagers, etc for an added cost.
I appreciate the "No Judgement" philosophy that they embrace. I was confused about the mobile phone usage policy - there are signs all over stating those are too be in the Lobby Area only, but there is a lot of mobile phone usage all over the facility. When I noted it to the staff, I was told that the policy allows for it. It is annoying...

At $15/mo, you can't beat it. So, it doesn't have a pool, courts, yoga, cycle classes, rock wall, restaurant, sauna, towel service, etc. Fine by me!

It would get 5-stars if it had all those things, but you'd also pay $250/mo to go to that gym.

Two reasons why the Tigard Planet Fitness is exceptional:

1. I’m impressed with the staff's level of service. When I walk in, they greet me by name. It makes my visits feel personal and welcoming, and I genuinely appreciate having them as part of my daily routine.

2. The new free-weight equipment is fantastic! This is precisely what I was hoping to see more of. My only hesitation in recommending this location to friends was the limited free-weight options, but now that there are more, it’s a better recommendation.

Review for Planet Fitness – Tigard

I absolutely love the Planet Fitness in Tigard. For such a large facility, it is immaculate. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming.

One of the biggest highlights for me is how clean and well-maintained everything is, from the locker rooms to the workout areas. For the price, what you get is unbelievable—tanning, stand up tanning, hybrid tanning with red light, hydromassage beds, and massage chairs. They recently added a new piece of equipment, the wellness pod . The variety of amenities makes this location stand out.

Another thing I love is the dedicated spa area where all the relaxation services are. There’s a super comfortable couch, a relaxing TV, and charging stations for your devices. A glass wall and door separate it from the main gym, keeping the noise out, making it a perfect place to unwind.

The only downside is the parking—it’s not the best. But aside from that, everything else is top-notch. The hours are great, and with the Black Card membership, you can bring a guest for free, which is a huge bonus. Overall, it’s a well-kept, affordable, and welcoming gym that I highly recommend.

This is by far the best newbie option. I have tried two other gyms in the last year and both are very judgy and not willing to help those who have no idea how to be at a gym or have questions. They made me feel like such a failure.

Immediately after walking in for my first time the front desk guy, Johnathan, was extremely helpful. He made sure to answer all my questions and even added information I didn't even know to ask. He made me feel very welcome and it felt like I truly could ask anything without feeling bad about myself.

I'm so thankful to have a welcoming experience. I was so terrified of going to the gym, it just felt intimidating. I signed up a month before I even walked in because I couldn't bring myself to go based on past experiences with other gyms. But after a single visit, I'm excited to go everyday after work! I wish I would have started earlier.

I am sure one of the BEST equipped and maintained in PT in North America !!! The washroom is Very Clean; Shower stalls are wide, and there is a good volume of water coming from the shower head with fast hot water responses. Lockers are big with built-in locks plus many hooks. A Very nice hair dryer(could use one more). The Wellness section is Very well equipped and in working order, especially the massage chair(10/10) !!!

Pretty nice gym, could have more free weights, but I think that's a planet fitness thing in general. A sauna and steam
Room n the locker rooms sure would be nice, but honestly the thing I don't like about this gym, and why I chose another after moving back is the dumb combination lockers. They never work right and I (and have witnessed MANY others) have to go round up a(n annoyed) employee to open it for you. Lockers have had hasps for your own lock for like 1 million years, how about converting at at least least half of them back to that.

I love going to planet fitness.Especially if I have an achy body. I'll go in just for the spa. Having the black card has been wonderful. I can go to any planet fitness in my area. Everything in planet fitness is clean. The equipment. The ladies room, the lockers, the tanning beds the massage beds, everything. Everyone that works.There is always friendly and very helpful!

Too difficult to cancel a membership! You CANNOT cancel online, CANNOT cancel by phone, CANNOT cancel through the app. Must cancel by email (but have to call for the email address as only the generic email is online and that just sends a automatic reply to contact your local branch by phone to get their email address). New laws will make this illegal. Memberships like this are the reason we have to spend tax dollars to implement new laws. As a travel nurse helping communities in need, I will never join another planet fitness.

For the most part I love this place... It can get a little busy after work hours during the week, but it’s not nearly as bad as other gyms I’ve gone to. The staff is amazing and the equipment is kept clean. All in all, I would recommend this location.

I’ve been coming to this location since you’ve opened and it’s been a great addition to my regular daily routine. The staff is always helpful and friendly and Jon you rock! The facility is always kept clean and the staff monitors it’s cleanliness on a regular basis. Brook and Caitlyn are absolutely terrible people! Brook promised me a free day trial over the phone, to see if I liked the gym. After driving an hour to get there, she said, actually we don't do that. They lied to me and wasted my time. Extremely unprofessional.

PROS: I usually go early in the morning, I am usually there by 5am.. That place is immaculate, the lady is there when I get there keeps that place CLEAN and organized, I wish I knew her name.
CONS: I try to avoid going in the afternoon after work because most of the people are just sitting at the machines on their phones not even using them. It gets really annoying!!
