I highly recommend this gym! I joined about four weeks ago and from the moment I first walked into the gym I was welcomed by friendly staff. I had never trained a day in my life before joining and I have learned so much in such a short period of time. The trainers/coaches leading the classes really know their stuff.

Iβve been training at Portland City Boxing for the past three years, and itβs been an incredible journey. This gym has it allβtop-notch classes, a welcoming and inclusive environment, and amazing coaches.
They also offer a wide variety of classes. Whether you're looking to get into boxing, improve your conditioning, or simply stay in shape, there's something for everyone. I personally train with Coach Paul once a week. I find his patience and encouragement incredibly motivating. Over the past three years, Iβve gotten into amazing shape and become more confident both inside and outside of the gym.
The staff and coaches at Portland City Boxing are second to none. Theyβre not only knowledgeable but also genuinely invested in your success. Coach Phillip runs the strength and conditioning class on Fridays, and he always keeps it fresh and interesting, ensuring youβre constantly challenged while still having fun.
The gym itself is clean, well-maintained, and truly inclusive. As someone who values an LGBTQ+ friendly atmosphere, I canβt recommend this place enoughβitβs a space where everyone feels welcome and supported.
If you're looking for a gym that offers great classes, amazing coaching, and a supportive community, Portland City Boxing is the place to be.

I highly recommend Portland City Boxing! Been going 2-3x/week for about 6 months. Super nice staff, low key, great group exercise classes (not just boxing). Suitable for all ages/abilities. Nice sized gym where the trainers know your name!

Portland City Boxing is easily one of the best gyms in Portland and I'm happy I found it. The coaching staff there is incredible. I have taken classes from almost everyone there and everyone of them has been phenomenal. It doesn't matter if you are there to just get a workout or are interested in becoming a better boxer, the coaches there will take note and help you progress towards your goals. Kickboxing/Muay Thai is also available there under Coach Paul who is easily one of the most fun and knowledgeable coaches I have ever had. Coach Phil also runs incredible kickboxing and conditioning classes that really push you to become a better boxer.
The kids classes are unrivaled as well. When my 12 year old told me he wanted to try boxing I was a bit surprised as he is very soft spoken and reserved. I didn't think it would be a sport he would take it and he likely wouldn't have if it weren't for the great coaching from people like Rick, Zeke, and Zavier. Since his first class he has fallen in love with the sport and I have watched his confidence soar. I attribute all of that to the 3 I mentioned above.
If you were ever interested in boxing or muay thai, and hesitant about it, I HIGHLY suggest you come in and check out PCB. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with how welcoming all the staff are no matter your skill level.

Iβve been attending PCB off and on for years now. Itβs a great place. Feels safe π³οΈβπ friendly π³οΈββ§οΈ and welcoming of all skill levels and walks of life. A very clean and well organized establishment. The mobile app is an added plus for scheduling classes. Iβve studied a variety of martial arts for years now. And I have to say this is one of the few places that feels like it doesnβt have an odd agenda. If youβre looking for a gym with a self defense/fitness forward focus, PCB is a great place to start your journey. Shout out to Coach Paul. Check out a kick boxing class of theirs. You wonβt regret it.

Portland City Boxing so far has been the best fitness experience I have had in my entire life, and I have attended many gyms and tried multiple sports in different cities and countries. I walked in there not knowing a single thing about boxing with just an idea that I should try it out. From coaches and fellow athletes alike, I experienced support, respect and willingness to help a beginner. Everyone was and remains very kind and supportive. I go there 3-5 times a week and always have a great time. Workouts are challenging, but my body feels amazing after. PCB is a great gym!

I have been attending classes at this gym for about six months now. This place is FANTASTIC. Multiple class times available throughout the day. The instructors and knowledgeable and super cool. I have attended both Boxing Conditioning and Kickboxing Conditioning classes. Free weights, slam balls, sleds, ropes...all available. Can't beat the price for everything you get. Not to mention the choice of music is spot on!! So happy I chose this gym.
EDIT: About four years since my initial review. I still feel the same. In fact more coaches and classes have been added. Really enjoy this gym.

We visited Portland for a week and this great gym was right down the street. My 9 year old and I dropped in and took a few classes- Kids Boxing by Xavier and Strength and Conditioning with Phil. The instructors were helpful and welcoming and the classes accessible. Weβll definitely stop by again if in town. Thank you!

Great place! It can be pretty intimidating for a woman to walk into a gym that focuses on a mostly male sport, but the coaches made the experience super pleasant. They are great with beginners, ensuring they spend enough time with everyone and correct technique during the classes. I very much enjoy going to PCB and would recommend it to anyone interested in boxing! K.

This place is great for working out and youβll definitely learn a thing or two if youβre a beginner, but you wonβt get much farther than that.
The instructors focus more on getting an intense workout, not proper form or technique. Sparring is only done once a week, and I really didnβt learn anything else aside from the basics of boxing after a year.
If youβre in it to get shredded, this is your place, but if youβre here to get better at boxing, youβre better off going elsewhere.

Welcoming, supportive and fun environment with options for boxing and kickboxing from beginner to advanced. I especially enjoy the kickboxing fundamentals classes by coaches Paul and Phillip. I have built so much strength and skill in just a few short months even though I was a complete beginner. I love that sparring is available but not required.

Best boxing gym in Portland. Staff works hard to keep classes fun and challenging. I've been coming here for almost 2 years and find it to be an excellent and addicting way to workout. Special props to Paul for the enthusiasm he brings to his classes. The gym has been great with Covid safety. Wishing the best for the gym during the freeze, I'll be following along on Zoom π€

PCB is excellent. The classes are intense and focused; the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and dedicated; and the facility is practically brand new (the SE location opened only a few months ago). They sport open gym hours with free weights and a cpl machines, and the coaches are always willing to answer questions and give pointers if and when needed. As for learning the ropes and getting into shape, I don't think there's a better way than boxing conditioning. These classes push you hard, really look to see what you're made of, especially if they're coached by Scott B or Mike C. Whew--those guys do not joke around. But none of the coaches do. You're completely wiped out after every class, yet you're filled with that thrilling feeling of accomplishment at the same time. And that's worth every dime and drop of sweat. Kudos!

The facility was clean, with a wide variety of equipment and class options. I initially liked it very much. Staff were friendly, and there were initially options for all skill levels. After about 2 months, the classes started to get disorganized, time changes without updating the website but posted on facebook. Then the Instructors time slots were moved around and became inconvenient times. This boxing gym (although offered kids classes) didn't feel like it was accommodating for beginner boxers. Due to the reasons above in addition to the location being across from a shelter, I decided to cancel. I turn in the access card, but was charged an additional 2 months after my card was submitted. There was some confusion in the cancellation process, and I had to follow up several times to confirm the account was really closed. I don't mind paying the additional month's fee for my early termination, but I do mind paying 2 additional months after my access card was taken from me. They are a nice "mom n' pop' gym, with that friendly feel, but I have little trust is their management of my account and ability to communicate terms and conditions.

Found this place on Class Pass and signed up for a regular membership. Great facility for experts and beginners (I'm a beginner). Lots of street parking and a fun way to work out vs standard cardio and weights at other gyms. If you don't have wraps or gloves you can borrow or buy some here too.I Highly recommend!

I just got done checking this place out, first time in a boxing gym. The front desk was very friendly to me, and answered all my many questions. Coach Johnny took time to meet with me and was respectfully towards me, not a puffed up chest kind of guy, but a serious boxing coach. I recommend checking this place out!

I have trained and checked out several boxing/combat sport gyms over the years and Portland City Boxing has been my favorite out of them all. I've been more consistent here than anywhere else.
The gym offers a good variety of classes, ranging from conditioning to the more technical side of boxing. Theres even an amateur boxing team for those who are looking to compete or get some rounds in sparring. I've done a lot of work with Johnny who has taught me a ton and always helpful when it comes to advice and tips.
I havent met anyone with any ego and most people in the gym are super helpful and friendly. All the coaches are also super helpful and knowledgable and each of their classes focus on different things which is nice for variety.
The gym is super reasonable in comparison to other specialty gyms and the best part is you dont have to get locked into a contract if you dont want.
I highly recommend anyone to check out this gym.

From London, England. Visiting Portland, Oregon for a few days. New to boxing. Owner Jeremy (ex-army) was super nice, approachable and informative. Tommy (Coach) has a real passion for boxing and was very patient with me, knowledgeable and super nice too but don't let that fool you. They make you work really, really hard to achieve maximum results! A solid, proper gym for those who would like to start of in boxing (basic) to more advanced boxing/sparring. Fantastic boxing gym with an old school vibe built for everyone of all ages and levels of fitness! Warren

Modern training with the old school boxing gym feel. Canβt say enough great things about PCB and their training staff that has legit ring experience. If you are looking for a great boxing gym, great gym members, great group and private workouts, great knowledgeable staff & awesomely low membership fees then make PCB your home. I started at PCB about 4 months ago and have not regretted it. You will feel at ease at and welcomed from the moment you walk in.

My time spent at PCB gym was 100% worth it and I got the best workout I have anywhere else. I am also a member of the Mac Club and I prefer the workout with many different experienced trainers and fighters. I've learned more in 3 days then I have in a month at any other boxing gym I've been to and for very similiar or lower prices then the rest. Anyways, I'm actually heading to the gym right now but anyone reading this should definitely drop by sometime and see what it's really about. Anyone looking for a fun successful workout and great fighting experience should stop by and say hi sometime. Thanks!
