Wow! what I can say this is really a rehab center for individuals improving their health that may not have pain. I really like the personalization and also senior fitness program, although I feel I am too YOUNG to be called a senior. Thanks Gina! Great job!

UPDATE:
From the ease of scheduling and the array of time slots available, to the written personalized workout sessions, to the eagled eyed trainers dedicated to keeping my form impeccable- this "gym" has it all-- it's somewhere between a physical therapist's office and a regular DIY gym. I have seen subtle but profound shifts in my body's way of moving, handling physical demands, and increased stamina- all without any injury from attempting a workout that was too much, too soon, burnout from overwork, or boredom. Maybe I am a gym person after all- and this was the place I was looking for all this time. Kudos to Gina's methodology and her amazing staff!
Original post:
I'm not a gym person, despite trying or needing to be. The training method Portland Integrative Fitness uses has changed my perception of what a gym could be and what i was capable of. The month of easing in via personalized 1:1 sessions was the best idea. I just had my first semi-private today and if it weren't for the excellent prior training I would not have been so comfy and at ease. I am genuinely looking forward to the sessions and my body feels good, not exhausted afterwards. The staff have been patient, compassionate, thorough, and a pleasure to work with.

I highly recommend this gym if you want to get stronger while also learning proper form to avoid injuries. The coaches are very detail-oriented, and the smaller setting means you get the personal attention you deserve, making it well worth the value.

Highly recommend Gina and her team of trainers. The team designed a training plan that helped me recover from abdominal surgery and manage sciatic nerve pain caused from a slipped disc. Gina’s background in Postural restoration techniques gave me accessible tools to relieve pain during my work day. The workout routines were designed to meet my individual needs. The workouts are updated on regular basis as I gain strength, mobility and endurance. After 2 years of training here, I am almost pain free, feel stronger, and sleep through the night.

it’s been a few years so here’s a re-up:
i’ve been meeting my personal goals with PIF’s continued help, giving me the challenges i need while balancing it with where i am. i’ve dropped 30% of my body weight and only 20% more to go to my goal- i’m going to get there and only because of the support of these guys. i need them. you need them. we all need them and we should all be doing strength training 3x per week. i feel so good and i’m pushing it through to a new level to feel even better. if you’re considering it consider it no more- just do it. reach out to gina now! em

there is no way i would be on the fitness and health path i am on without the help of root and branch. between gina and dr. alex i have righted my ship-- without their expert help i would still be struggling with diet, exercise and sleep. they know what they are doing and i appreciate how they especially work with me to apply their knowledge tailored to what i need any given day/week/month. thank you + i look forward to the continuing journey!!

Like many people my body has things it does well, and things it doesn't... old injuries, limitations, pros and cons. I've worked with personal trainers in various gyms using various modalities over the past 30+ years. I've searched for and tried a handful of different gyms in my 16+ years in Portland and finally feel like I've found a place that not only takes your goals seriously, but simultaneously meets you where you are and helps you maximize what you can do in an environment designed to avoid additional injury. This goes beyond just what your form looks like, but into the choices of staff, the setup for the gym itself, the sequence of exercises over time, and the ethos of the whole place. Gina has nailed it with Portland Integrative Fitness. I am not only realizing the gains I was hoping for, but I can just be my authentic self in an environment that doesn't require me to be someone else for meaningful participation. Highly recommend!

PIF has the best trainers and offering I've found, and I've used trainers for years. My PT referred me - so glad she did! I'm happy with the steady progress I've made in strength and flexibility. Danielle and Madison are terrific, they're very knowledgeable and make helpful suggestions to get the most out of a session. It's nice to be able to work with them one-on-one or in a group setting. The days and hours they're open make it easy to work out and harder to have an excuse not to...

I love this gym! As a young, healthy woman I started just about as un-fit as possible. I was scared to exercise. This kind, judgment free atmosphere met me where I was at and helped me to form healthy fitness goals and aspirations. They challenged me when I was having lazy days and motivated me when I didn't want to show up. I love the evening availability and coaches. Every session I'm met with gentle encouragement. It's a pressure free environment that supports me to achieve what I want from my body.

I’m so grateful to have found Portland Integrative Fitness. Gina and her team are top notch. They truly care about your well being and are great at guiding through new exercises that build upon each other. The space and environment are clean and comfortable. I bring my 3 year old along who enjoys the childcare, another wonderful feature of PIF. Highly recommend to anyone in Portland wanting to recover from injury, or just get stronger and focus on longevity.

Portland Integrative Fitness is a total gem. They offer customized and effective workout programs and are so attentive and responsive to what you need on any given day. I give myself such a gift whenever I go - I know I’m going to be both supported and pushed. When pregnant, I was excited about the specialized guidance. Now I’m sold on the community, the positive vibes, and how I’m building strength and resilience without injury.

Portland Integrative Fitness has been such an important part of my postpartum journey after the birth of my second child. It is a space that always feels welcoming, supportive, inclusive and nonjudgmental - a combination that has been nurturing for me, especially in my earlier vulnerable postpartum months. I've been going once a week for about 10 months now and I feel much stronger and in tune with my body! I am so grateful and look forward to continuing at PIF as I further my fitness goals.
As a stay-at-home-parent, the BEST part about PIF is that I can bring my two daughters with me. They both ADORE Leilani the nanny and look forward to seeing her every week! Leilani is gentle, kind, attentive, and so so sweet. She even remembers my older daughter's interests and brings books from home to read with her! When we arrive, my younger daughter gets a big smile & reaches for Leilani to hold her as soon as we get inside. It is so reassuring to know that my girls are happy, safe and loved while I give myself some much needed love.
I can't say enough great things about this place - if you want to feel taken care of by a team of fitness experts in a welcoming setting for yourself and the little ones in your life - look no further!

If you’re thinking about joining PDX Integrative Fitness, please treat yourself! I am a middle-aged woman who has struggled with strength training until I met Gina, Joe, Madison, and Kat. They taught me a completely different way to work out that is more rooted in physical therapy and has allowed me to build strength without getting injured. Over the past six months, my strength, energy and immunity have increased, and my pain from sitting in front of a computer all day has noticeably decreased. They have taught me techniques that I will use for the rest of my life and have helped me create a healthy lifestyle that I can sustain. I am so grateful that they are a resource for the PDX community!

I have been a client of Portland Integrative Fitness for nearly 5 years. Gina, Joe, Madison and the whole team are incredible. They will meet you where you're at each day and create a custom program for whatever your goals might be, big or small. There is no toxic fitness culture here and it's safe for everyone -- all ages, bodies, and abilities. I can do things with my body now that I never thought were possible... and one of them is gardening without my back hurting the next day. It's the little things yall. PIF is my safe space and I look forward to coming to my sessions each week. Thank you for all you do!!

Portland Integrative Fitness offers something truly unique: high-quality personal training that’s rooted in self-care, functional movement, and long-term wellbeing. Gina and her team go far beyond standard fitness — they help people feel confident in their bodies again, whether they’re seniors, new moms, or navigating chronic conditions like MS.
Gina is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and passionate about what she does. She brings a deep understanding of how the body works and how to support it — safely and sustainably.
One of the things I especially appreciate is the on-site childcare, which makes it possible for parents to prioritize their health without added stress. As a functional medicine doctor, I frequently refer patients to Gina for foundational movement support that they can build on for years to come.
This is a fun, thoughtful, and welcoming space that I highly recommend. If you’re looking for a fitness experience that supports your whole self — this is it.

Training with Portland Integrative Fitness during my pregnancy was one of the best decisions I made. Gina brings a balance of knowledge, intuition, and care—she knew exactly when to push me and when to ease off, always making me feel seen, heard, and empowered. Thanks to her guidance, I felt strong, capable, and truly prepared for birth—something that had initially felt so scary. If you gift yourself anything during pregnancy, let it be the strength, support, and confidence that comes from training with this incredible team!

After 3 car accidents and years of managing soft tissue injuries that never really got better, I feel like I’ve finally found the key to unlock the healing and supportive strength training I’ve been looking for, even as someone who is active and health-conscious already. PIF is a total game-changer: for the first time in years I feel joyful in my body! The trainers and environment they cultivate is extremely supportive but still the right amount of challenging; PIF will meet you where you are at and help you keep you engaged to meet your goals. Can’t recommend enough!

Menopause, 15lb pandemic weight gain, and finally a shoulder injury that just hasn't been healing like I my younger body used to convinced me I needed quality time becoming strong again, under supervision. The trainers at PIF really do bridge the gap between personal training & bigger gym classes. And while I joke that I started to help regain arm strength & most of my training seems to focus on my glutes, I can TELL in my body that this is exactly the holistic approach I've been craving. The trainers are persistently helping me notice and change from habitual patterns to get stronger everywhere - which actually is helping my arm!

PIF has been an amazing experience for getting strength back postpartum. To be able to enjoy a personalized thoughtful workout while my kids are having fun in a caring playroom is self care at its best. Honestly I don't know who enjoys going to the gym more now me or my kids. I can't recommend more making the time to learn more and start a personalized program.

I’ve been taking weekly classes at Portland Integrative Fitness for nearly 3 years, and it has been an essential part of my recovery and strength-building after giving birth twice. With their support, I was able to successfully have a VBAC with my second son. One of the best features of the gym is their Tiny Booty Club, which offers on-site childcare with an amazing nanny, allowing me to focus on my workout while my baby and toddler are in safe hands.
Gina, the owner, and all of the coaches have incredible vision for their clients and create personalized fitness programs that help you achieve your individual goals. If you’re looking for personalized coaching and childcare in Portland, this gym is hands down the best!

My husband and I started going to Portland Integrative Fitness a little over a year ago with the goal of becoming healthier as a couple. We have learned how to safely strengthen our bodies while becoming a part of a fitness family. All the trainers - Gina, Danielle, Madison and Kat are knowledgable, supportive and make the sessions fun and enjoyable. And I don’t know of any other gyms/trainers that are as educated in and capable of creating custom pre/postnatal workouts like this one! Danielle has an abundance of knowledge and insight in this area and has created workouts for me through every stage of my pregnancy. She even created a couples workout to help prepare both my husband and me for the labor and delivery process. Through our workouts, I have learned to become confident in what my body is capable of doing and confident that my husband will know how to support me. I am 38 weeks pregnant and believe I am still moving and exercising in large part because of the support and training that I have received at PIF!

For folks--of all ages and body sizes-- who want a supportive path to everyday fitness, this is your place. Portland Integrative Fitness is one of those rare gyms that focuses on the daily activities that make your life fulfilling--whether that is picking up a grandchild, getting fit after pregnancy, running a 5k, bicycling through town, or hiking Mount Hood. You don't power through anything at Portland Integrative Fitness. Instead, you listen to your body and its habits and then gently steer those movement habits toward better ones. Portland Integrative Fitness allows you to move at a thoughtful pace that builds curiosity and patience. The strength and the flexibility naturally follow. Gina has built a great and supportive community. As a newcomer to town, it's been a wonderful place to connect.

I’ve been going to Portland Intergrative Fitness for a year, and it’s been a really positive experience. I like the small group classes, never feels crowded, and can get a lot of individualized support. The programs are tailored to your needs and experience. I have been working mostly with Danielle (who is amazing, so supportive, fun, and caring, truly a gem!), but everyone there is wonderful.
I had never worked with a trainer before, and hadn’t been to a gym in over 10 years, but I never felt uncomfortable or out of place at PIF. It’s a super welcoming environment, for all levels.

TLDR: chronic pain- improved; posture- improved; strength- improved; commitment to myself- improved; belief that my body is capable of hard things- new!
I am a nurse with two herniated discs in my back (cervical and lumbar). The first from a car accident when I was 19, the second from moving a patient wrong when I was 27. I am in my 30s and I have chronic pain that keeps from doing a lot of things...
...or at least it used to. I was ready to quit going to Portland Integrative Fitness after the first couple sessions. My body spasmed and it was incredibly painful in the beginning. I KNEW it was unlearning poor compensation it had grown used to. I cried. A LOT. And Gina and Danielle (trainers at the gym), held me through it. They adjusted my personalized program to go even slower- that sucked for the competitive person in me. They encouraged me through the tiniest of wins, the emotional releases, and the days I just needed to rest and strengthen my pelvic floor above all else. They helped me set safe limits, to not be in a competition with myself, to get into my body and out of my head. They referred me for additional support in the form of acupuncture. After what felt like forever, I started noticing less pain and better sleep. I started noticing when I would hurt- it wouldn't last for weeks. I noticed the daily headaches weren't there. I noticed I didn't need to go to sleep with a heating pad on my back and ice on my neck (which I had been doing for years!) I noticed my back allowed for small self adjustments again. I noticed strength in muscles that have always been weak. I noticed muscles that have never been present, suddenly showing up. I noticed my posture in the picture from the first day at the gym. I was astonished I hadn't noticed how forward my shoulders were rotated. I need a new pic to put next to that one now! Not only do I trust Danielle who I train most with, I believe in Gina and Danielle and trust them implicitly with my body and my safety. One of my favorite parts about this gym is the group classes and how the other members cheer and encourage each other, commenting on the HARD things we are each doing. It truly is a community that feels so good to be a part of. It is worth it, because I am worth it. For the first time in my life, I feel good in my body with all it's lumps, bumps, and curves- because it is capable and strong. YOU are worth it and deserve to feel good in your body and are missing out if you don't go to this gym.

Working with Gina at Portland Integrative Fitness has been a game changer for me. For years I have gone to the gym and lifted weights without proper technique, warm-ups, and movements. This resulted in chronic neck and back pain which limited what I could do physically. Gina has helped get my body moving in the RIGHT way, with proper form, muscle activation, and exercises that not only feel good for my body, but help me with building the strength that I have wanted to have. Not to mention, Gina is an incredible person who is super knowledgeable and an absolute joy to be around. Can’t recommend Portland Integrative Fitness enough!

I first started training with Brooke & Gina after searching for an inclusive, supportive environment where I could work on strength, balance, and coordination after a diagnosis of Multiple sclerosis.
It’s been such a positive experience, and I feel better in my body than I have in a long time. They tailor your individual workout plan to your needs and goals and provide modifications, encouragement, and accountability whenever needed.
I really enjoy the group classes and always feel like the trainers give each class attendee the help and personal attention they need while benefitting from the community of working out with others. Everyone has been so kind and encouraging, and I can’t recommend Portland Integrative Fitness enough - particularly to anyone who is intimidated by “gym culture,” needs help with any type of injury or physical challenge, or just needs a little extra support.

I've worked out with Gina for at least 5 years. She has customized my strength training to compliment whatever I'm going through in life - pregnancy, postpartum, to physically keeping up with 2 non-stop boys. As Gina says, "It's not about now, it's about 10 years from now." It is comforting to know that this care that I'm investing in myself will benefit me as I age. I am already stronger and in better shape in my 40s than I was in my 20s. Working out was not easy for me initially, but having a trainer encourage me to show up and work hard has changed my relationship to physical fitness. It feels good to feel strong! Thanks, Gina!

I started working with Gina to get back into shape (with a friend) after we each had our second babies. We started slow, as her focus is really about making sure you're using your body correctly and getting the right muscles to engage as you move.
As soon as my body started to engage correctly, and the old bad habits removed themselves, she pushed me hard, and the results were quick! My husband saw my results after a couple of weeks of training and joined the team as well! We love the strength we have found in our bodies.
Then the pandemic hit, and after a couple of weeks of not working out, we signed up for zoom workouts, and we were skeptical to say the least. I don't know why, looking back, because Gina has helped us stay in shape, and just as importantly, has helped us stay positive in these, sometimes difficult, times. She does an amazing job of knowing if we're not engaging the right muscles even through our zoom calls, and makes little tweaks to make sure we are using the correct form.
She has been flexible and helped us learn to be more flexible, as we have integrated everything from lifting wine bottles to having our young kids push us over and run around the block with us to make at-home workouts work for our ever changing lifestyle.
I love that she appreciates what brings us to the table, and what continues to bring us to the table. The solid foundation of a strong body used in the right way, and a healthy emotional state, gives us constant motivation to keep coming back!

This review is for the business over the service. I was targeted on Instagram for this business and signed up for the complimentary call to learn more about their services. Brooke, the woman I spoke with was great. At the end of the call she offered to have me come in so I could experience what the program would be like in person and I set up a time to do so. A few weeks later I went in and was the only one there. I thought I would have been experiencing the group program because that is what I had expressed interest in. The hour with Brooke was again a great experience and I was ready to sign up, however that night I received a text from the owner asking where she could send the invoice. Apparently I had misunderstood the situation and while the call was free this was a full, private session. This surprised me so much I was turned off from proceeding and was billed $175. So if you were Instagram targeted beware, but as long as you know the process and pricing in advance I would say the service that Brooke offered and the facility was great. Pricing is usually billed in bundles and they charged me so high because I chose not to continue. I paid the invoice and will use this as a cautionary tale for the rest of my life.

This isn’t your typical gym! Gina and Brooke are the best trainers I’ve ever had because I never felt so individually taken care of. I’m currently pregnant and going there to prep&strengthen for labor. I have a unique program that’s made for my body and they change the program when I’m ready to integrate other things. Scheduling is super easy with many time slots and they have multiple package options that I’m sure you can find something for your budget. I definitely recommend them especially if you tried other gym memberships and never able to stick with them or ended up hurting yourself because you didn’t know what you were doing on your own.

PIF has helped me stay strong and accountable throughout the pandemic, and has always been there to help me stay strong for whatever I need in that moment. Couldn't recommend them more highly!

When I got involved with Root and Branch, I was looking for a workout where it can be hard but also done correctly. I have gotten that and more with this team. Gina is amazing at knowing what you need for your workout journey to push yourself but always listens to you about your body. She even made a workout session when I go to my other gym.
Though I have been coming here for years, it was in 2020 where it really became an oasis for tuning out the pandemic, even just for an hour. It has become a community of people who want the best for everyone. We cheers good news and comfort in bad news. It doesn't matter where you are in your fitness timeline, you will find a place here.

I was nervous about starting to workout- I didn't think it would be fun or easy. The trainers foster an atmosphere of lightness and joy and the burn feels really good! Both Gina and Brooke are great about helping me with my posture as I build my muscles. Thanks!

I’m 75 years old and joined Portland Integrative 1 1/2 years ago. With the encouragement of Gina, Celeste, and Brooke my strength and general fitness has increased exponentially. Loss of muscle mass and strength is so critical at my age and I know I will keep coming as if my life depended on it, because it does. I can’t thank them enough. What a wonderful and support group!

The team at Portland Integrative Fitness helped me feel strong and confident heading into the birth of my first child. I appreciated the consistent but not overly watchful attention from trainers in a small group setting. From strength building to breath work, I was supported through physical and mental preparation until the very end of my pregnancy.

Gina and crew really have something special here, though I’m not quite sure how to put it into words. The environment is always fun, kind, and welcoming.
Gina will always meet each individual exactly where they are at on any given
day. The hour that I am there always feels like “me time” and the best self care. The exercises are also easy to do at home.
I hope that more people discover Portland Integrative Fitness, so that the business can continue to thrive.

I wish I could select a 6th star as I can't recommend Gina and her gym more. So instead of hacking Google's review system to add that extra star, I feel I need to add a second review with a different email address, two years after I left my first.
Portland Integrative Fitness hasn't changed my body, it has changed my relationship to and my mindset about my body. That in turn has allowed me to increase my physical ability without these constant highs and lows of motivation, but with a steady built of confidence, stamina and self-love.
In the past I would be either super pumped about becoming more fit or feel totally incapable of lifting a dumbell at all. So, obviously, I could never build a sustainable fitness routine, but mostly felt I didn't have it in me.
Through Gina's tireless care and relentless physical philosophy I learned to embrace the body I have, see how it is precious, what it is capable off and how I could improve it in a way that is true to MY body as opposed to trying to be an instagram model.
Today I feel strong, able and know I can do my workouts even when I don't feel like it, because I have done it so many times with Gina's help. And most of all, I feel content about my body and look less envious at that of other men.
Try it out, but be careful, because you might really like it.

It’s hard to articulate what a game-changing impact Gina has made on my life. I have a lot of postural and body mechanics issues, and every time I would try to “get in shape” I would end up injuring myself. Gina’s slow and methodical personalized approach allowed me to build strength in all the right ways to allow my body to get to the point where I can push it more. I haven’t felt this strong and pain-free in many, many years.

Gina runs an exceptionally supportive and holistic gym, although I never refer to it as a 'gym', since I don't encounter any of the uncomfortable dynamics many gyms create. I don't feel the pressure to perform, to look great, to build muscle, but I do feel a warm environment where I can move my boundaries bit by bit.
Gina and her associate Colin offer personal fitness in the most personal sense of the word. Not only do they teach very precise and detailed exercises and techniques to strenghten my body, they also model a kind and compassionate approach to physical work that allows me to be gentle with myself, while still feeling I progress and build stability and strength.
My 25y old lower back issues have seldomly been this absent in my everyday life.
Highly, highly recommended.

I’ve been coming here for six weeks to work on a stubborn childhood injury. Gina is smart and kind, and I have a lot of confidence that my fitness plan will help me reach my goals. I feel like I’m getting stronger, and even though it’s tough, I never dread going in. Semi-private training is $50-ish an hour, and it’s worth it.

I was looking for a safe way to work out while pregnant and instead found immense confidence, boost to my mental health while pregnant, and actual birth prep paired with fitness training. So happy to have found Gina and her team, preparing for childbirth is a lot less scary when you have so many people preparing and cheering you on.

Portland Integrative Fitness has truly changed my life. When I first started I has extremely limited movement and was anxious and protective of my body, constantly afraid I would move the wrong way and make my chronic hip and back pain worse. Over the course of my training I have gained so much strength, body knowledge and with it, the confidence that I have the tools to keep myself safe and recover quickly when my pain does flare. This, literally, makes all the difference.
I can think of no better coaches for this journey than Gina and Celeste. They are both so incredibly knowledgable, patient and trauma-informed - constantly answering questions and making adjustments to support my real time needs and long-term healing. I also really appreciate how queer friendly and welcoming the community is to people of all ages, abilities and body sizes. Dealing with chronic pain and injury recovery can be a deeply emotional experience and I have always felt so safe and supported by everyone at PIF, even when there are other folks on the mat.
If you are dealing with chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or are just interested in transforming your movement patterns for long term sustainable health, GO (walk, run, crawl if you have to) to Portland Integrative Fitness.

Portland Integrated Fitness gave me my active life back. I have been an athlete all my life but I have struggled with knee issues. Gina and Celeste helped to reshape how I move. This sounds strange, but they help me to develop correct posture, and safe movement in my everyday activities through the safe and challenging workout plans they make for me.

Look no further for a non-traditional, sans-shaming gym! I have been coming here for a few years. It took me months to figure out the "form BEFORE fitness" mentality! They are picky about form and functional movement so you will not get injured here as I did with other personal trainers. I have always been the type to invest in fitness and this is the place to do it!

Gina is the best!! I have been going to her small group classes for the past few years, and it has transformed my view on fitness and my own perception of my abilities. I came in with a shoulder injury and needed someone who could help me reach my fitness goals while minding my shoulder pain. Gina and Colin work with you to design programs that meet your goals, and their careful coaching and adjustments help to ensure you're moving in the right way. She has customized workouts for me for mountain biking and skiing, and they've helped me improve in those activities a lot!

Gina is simply amazing. Hands down the best trainer I've encountered in Portland. I have referred many patients to Gina and they not only come back with rave reviews, but the results speak for themselves. Gina's unique model of encompassing mind, body and emotion/spirit into the training equation yields unmatchable results. If you're ready to create change, schedule with Gina now - you won't be disappointed.

I have been working with Gina at Portland Integrative Fitness for about 8 months. Making an investment in getting stronger has been at times challenging but really worth it. My physical pain has decreased as I’ve strengthened muscles I didn’t even know I had. Gina is very knowledgeable and has been supportive in times of mental and physical stress. She makes a lot of adjustments for me when my body acts up. I have worked with Collin also and he is always kind and patient, which I really appreciate. I love the zoom options because I have a high stress job and work a lot of hours. Being able to utilize virtual sessions allows me to stay committed to regular workouts. Thanks guys!!! I appreciate you both!

My wife looked at pictures of me 9 months ago and was shocked by how much healthier I am now. Gina and Colin have helped me reach fitness goals I haven’t touched in over a decade. I no longer have back pain and don’t see the chiropractor anymore. Gina helped me switch my diet to eating more meals, more often, with more protein. I eat 25% less and still crush chicken sandwiches whenever the opportunity presents itself.
I feel consistently positive about myself. This impacts my business, my relationships, and just waking up in the morning.
I put in the effort, but Gina and Colin guided me to a healthy physical state without risking injury in the process.
All you have to do is show up.
I show up 2x a week to reach success instead of how I used to feel: stuck.

If you're looking for a gym to help you live pain free while also meeting you exactly where your body is on any given day, then do yourself a favor and try this place. I promise you that if you give it a try for 3 months, you'll have a hard time walking away because of the results you'll have reaped.
I have been a member since 2018 and I have had various fitness goals throughout that time, from training for competitive sport to recovering from a car accident to recovering from giving birth. This gym and its trainers have been my partner every step of the way and are the single reason I'm the only one in my friend group of thirty-somethings that is pain free in all ranges of motion.
When I first joined, I thought it was a lot of money. But now that I've been a member for 4+ years, I've realized that having a pain free life where I have a dedicated, knowledgeable team of personal trainers to help me stay that way regardless of what life throws my way is priceless.

I was pregnant when I first started taking classes with Gina and Colin, and I would recommend them as an important part of any pregnancy plan. I was able to stay fit and strong during pregnancy all the way up to labor, and with each class, the general pain I was experiencing was eased (so long as I kept up with my exercise plan). The techniques they taught me also helped SO MUCH when it came time to give birth. My pelvic floor was strong, I was practiced in which muscles to use, and I was able to get through the birthing process without being too fatigued. They say “strong mama, strong baby”, and it’s weirdly true! My baby boy came out so strong right from the start. After birth, I experienced some muscle loss during my weeks of recovery. More recently, they’ve been helping me gain my strength back so I can be a strong mama again! Root & Branch Integrative Fitness was 100% worth it.

I wanted to start an exercise program for strength but suffered from chronic shoulder pain. After completing Alex's therapeutic exercises, I was ready to begin my personal training with Gina. Working as a team, Gina and Alex restored function and strength to my shoulder. Also, I felt super comfortable at their facility! 5 star service at Root & Branch Integrative Fitness!

TLDR; I was in chronic pain for five years and was giving up on ever getting better. Then I started working with Ian and team at Wholeself. Three months into the program and I had my first pain-free day! I've now been going to Wholeself for over 9 months and I'm not only almost back to the level of fitness I was before my injuries, I'm a thousand times more aware and informed about my own body. The trainers here are some of the best coaches and people that I've met in my 10+ years of physical fitness. I seriously cannot recommend this place enough.
Long Version:
Ian, the owner and head trainer at Wholeself Wellness, is constantly asking me how I’m doing. How my body is doing during a workout. If I’m feeling any pain. If I feel comfortable with the movement I’m doing. At first, I found myself hesitant to answer honestly. Especially, if I was feeling pain or feeling uncomfortable. It wasn’t until a few weeks of working out with Ian that I realized why I felt so odd about answering honestly. It was because I had been told my whole life that admitting pain was weakness. That pain was the sign of progress but that it was a silent burden to bear. That men suffered and they suffered quietly. That you didn’t express that pain to other people. Particularly not to other men.
But, at Wholeself it’s different. Walking through the doors of Wholeself is like walking through a wall and into a world where all the toxic masculinity and self-deprecating motivational nonsense of our culture is absent. When I enter Wholeself I set down my bike bag by the front door and take off my shoes. But really, it feels more like I’m setting down my personal emotional and cultural baggage by the door. Everyday I come in and I set down more and more of it. Everyday I feel less shame around admitting my pain. I ask more questions. I ask for help. I say thank you for the encouragement I’m given instead of shyly brushing it off because I don’t know how to take a compliment.
At Wholeself Wellness it’s not about how many reps you can do or how much weight you can lift. It’s about doing the movements that heal you. It’s about learning your own body; about studying your own patterns and learning how to change the ones that are hurting you. It’s about getting better at the ones that heal you.
Wholeself Wellness may look like any other gym from the outside but what it really is an organization built to heal and strengthen every part of you. With a combination of intensely personalized physical training, access to certified nutritionists and body workers, and the Food Story groups, you’ll have the chance to delve deep into the scientific, physical and mental aspects of your own well being.
Seriously, this place rocks.
