I started going to Rose City Fitness about six months after labral hip surgery. What started for me as a way to get stronger to build back up to running has morphed into so much more than that. Rachel and her instructors are not only incredibly knowledgeable but extremely inclusive. Always asking how your body feels and giving you positive feedback when you need to modify a movement. It's been a little over a year now that I have been driving for deep SE to NW for a reformer class and this past Sunday I completed by first half marathon less than two years post hip surgery. Rose City Fitness has not only made me a stronger runner but has giving me the confidence in my body that I didn't know I needed. If you're worried about the price don't second guess your self. Invest in your body! Like I tell myself everyday this is cheaper than surgery. I promise you will leave class feeling powerful, strong, sore but so happy. Book a class now!

I searched for months to find a welcoming, inclusive, fun and supportive place for reformer Pilates in Portland — and Rose City Fitness exceeds all my expectations! The instructors are knowledgeable and kind, making sure you feel successful and strong during and after class 💪🏻 I cross train Pilates with high impact aerobics and weight training, and Pilates helps me lift heavier weights and keeps my joints safe when jumping/running/dancing.

My local Pilates studio, love it! I had not taken pilates in twenty years, and I'm less flexible now. Form and Stretch & Restore classes are helping with that, and I hope to take more challenging classes as I regain core strength and flexibility.

Absolutely love this studio from the old space to new. Every class reminds me why I love pilates and how strong I am/how much stronger I can get! Every instructor is also so nice and helpful - I love Rachel and Olivia for all their guidance! I don't get to take classes often but any chance I get I always leave class feeling better and stronger. If you've been curious about reformer pilates, GO HERE!

Rachel is incredible -- super knowledgeable and patient. She has really helped to push me on my fitness journey. I'd never done pilates before, but I'm now a year in and the results have been fantastic. I used to have lower back pain pretty regularly, but that has disappeared as my core has strengthened. I can't recommend her and Rose City Fitness highly enough. Thanks!

Rose City has truly been a game-changer for me—especially after recovering from a back injury. The skilled and attentive instructors always offer thoughtful corrections and modifications when needed, which made a huge difference during my recovery and continues to make a difference in my practice to ensure proper form.
What I love most is that each class brings something new, so you're constantly challenged and never bored/stuck in a routine. On top of that, the studio space itself is beautiful—clean, calming, and perfectly designed to make you feel welcome and motivated.
Rachel (owner) has created a one of a kind studio in the PDX area that attracts amazing instructors who deliver killer (but rewarding) workouts.

I have always been low key afraid and intimidated by group fitness, but really wanted to try Pilates. The moment I stepped foot in RCF I felt comfortable, seen and like a member of the community. Over time I've taken classes with nearly all the instructors, and have loved their different approaches to the practice.
Every class is different (I get bored easily so I love that) and every class has been fun and challenging. Classmates have been inclusive, supportive and overall 10/10 amazing. Devastatingly I just moved out of Portland, but can't wait to come back to RCF when I visit and eventually be a nearly daily attendee when I move back! Literally the best <3

Skilled and experienced instruction, safe, challenging, appropriate for all levels (on many occasions i've gone in injured/overworked and come out improved). Lots of different equipment, always a new, fresh class. Every teacher is excellent.

The best studio I’ve been to, and I’ve been to a lot. You will feel welcome here no matter what. The owner is incredible and makes you feel like this is home and all the people that come to clases have also been really wonderful. The instructors are fun and really care about you getting down the foundation and growing from there. They make sure your form is fire so you get the best possible workout and results 🩷

Rose City Fitness is the best. I started 2 years ago after feeling tired, old, and week. Now after almost 300 clases, I am still finding new muscles, new confidence, and new strength. Here’s a poem I wrote. Thank you Rose City!

Rose City Fitness is an absolute gem! The moment I walked in, I was blown away by how stunning the new studio is. So clean, bright, and beautifully laid out . The energy in the space was incredible, from the warm welcome by Rachel (the amazing owner and a total breath of fresh air) to the friendly members in class. After practicing in LA for 10 years I struggled to find a Pilates studio in Portland that could push me to become more advanced but also had a good vibe, gorgeous space and educated + engaged instructors. RCF goes above and beyond my expectations with every class I take. Rachel (owner) goes out of her way to hire the absolute best instructors and it shows.
The classes mix contemporary and classical which make great, athletic workouts.
I’m 600 classes in, YES 600 😆, and would recommend Rose City Fitness to anyone regardless of age, fitness level or Pilates experience. It’s truly a game changer in the Portland fitness community.
UPDATE June 2025: coming back here at 700+ classes to say RCF is still the G.O.A.T.

Rose City Fitness is simply magical ✨ Recovering from an injury, I was cautious to start moving my body again, but RCF has helped me build strength, confidence and community.
Each instructor is mindful, helpful and always provides adjustments if needed to keep me safe and build a foundation for strength. I love the different class options and how each instructor brings their unique vibes and expertise. The small class sizes ensure every move is being done correctly and fosters community.

I can’t say enough good things about Rose City Fitness! The studio is clean, bright, and beautifully designed, creating an airy and inviting atmosphere. The community is warm and welcoming, and every class leaves me feeling energized.
I'm new to Pilates, so I started with 1:1 sessions with Rachel. I was worried I wasn’t strong enough or that old injuries might hold me back, but Rachel immediately made me feel seen and supported. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, full of positive energy, and made me feel encouraged and capable every step of the way. Her thoughtful approach makes each workout fun, challenging, and rewarding, giving me a real sense of progress after every session. Just a couple weeks later, I'm feeling stronger and more confident than I ever expected. So worth it!
I’ve also taken Form classes with Olivia, who has a special knack for pushing you to challenge yourself while keeping the vibe light and fun—she always makes me laugh! I love the small class sizes, which feel personal and provide plenty of individual feedback. No matter how I feel walking in, I always leave in the best mood. I'm so happy I found this place!

Finally! A Pilates studio that has variety with each class. Moving from Orange County to Portland, it seemed like every studio in Portland does classical reformer pilates which I find very repetitive/boring. I don't like going to each class and expecting the exact same workout every time. I tried Rose City Fitness and they had the type of variation that I was looking for where the instructors change up the progression and equipment (box, magic circle, ball, etc.) used day to day which make classes fun and exciting!

Rose City Fitness has been life changing for me! I was nervous the first time I went in as I had never done Pilates before. Rachael made me feel comfortable and like I had always been there. I felt like I belonged. I do belong! Pilates have me the courage to start running, I ran my first half marathon in June 2023, and running my second half 2024! Pilates helps me with my form for running, I had no idea how important that would be. I am where I am in my fitness journey because of Rose City Fitness.

Rose City Fitness is the first place I started taking Pilates classes, and I couldn't be happier. With only 5 reformers there is a lot of individual attention, and Rachel (owner and one of the instructors) makes sure every class is challenging without losing focus on the fundamentals. I've gotten stronger and feel like I am protecting my body against aging. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

I have always loved taking Pilates with Rachel. And missed it so much when Covid hit. But she’s back and really found a safe and successful way of managing her space even with all the precautions. I felt safe and cared for the entire time. She prepares you ahead of time for what to expect, and has spaced the reformers in her open lofted space to really feel like you can practice without fear. I didn’t even notice my mask was on. All I noticed was the familiar muscle shake and burn! If you’re itching to get out of your house and find a safe way to exercise, definitely check out Rose City Fitness!

Ive always been a bit scared of group classes but i love this one! There are only 3 people per class(including yourself) so it feels really one on one but in a good way! She helps you get through the work out, makes you appreciate "the shakes" and assists you with your form. The class goes by quick, leaves you still feeling energized but kicks your butt and makes your sore in places you didnt know you could be! She has helped strengthen my core so much and its helped me in so many other work outs and just life activities! Love love love this place!

I love the small class sizes because the instructor can provide focused instructions to the class. Rachel teaches you to pay more attention to detail within your own workout and she helps you to push outside of your comfort zone. I cannot say enough great things about Rachel and Rose City Fitness! As a competitive triathlete for many years I rely on these classes for my core strength exercises. Rachel makes certain that the moves are done correctly, with good form. She is right there every step of the way to offer support and a sense of security when trying something new. Classes are challenging and are easily individualized if there is something I want to work on. I'm so grateful I found a strength based workout I truly enjoy each time I go. I've never been stronger!
