I love coming to Rose City Rec Room—I look forward to it everyday. All the coaches are super knowledgeable, fun, careful, funny, observant, and just great people to be around. The classes are always changing and never boring or repetitive. The music is top-notch, especially on Saturday’s Club AM Sweat with Matt DJing. It’s a wonderful community of people, of all different abilities and goals and backgrounds, all having a wonderful time together. Rose City Rec Room is truly a special place and I am so glad I found it!

Rose City RR is a great community for all levels of fitness and experience! The owner is such a kind and welcoming person who is key in making these classes fun, inclusive, and very challenging! I recommend this gym to all my friends!! Quit reading reviews and go sign up for a class, you won’t regret it, unless it’s at 6am!

If you are looking for a gym that is progressive, community focused, LGBTQ+ affirming and inclusive, supportive, and body positive... look no further!!
Not only is Rose City Rec Room LGBTQ woman owned, but they also prioritize creating workouts that are accessible to all kinds of folks and body types. The workouts are both challenging and fun!
As someone who has worked out at a lot of gyms, this is the first one that prioritizes overall health and movement, as opposed to just focusing on weight loss and calories burned. Its SO refreshing to fall in love with movement again in a safe space!

Tried this gym after my previous two both closed down, & I couldn’t be happier here. The vibes are immaculate, and the community is incredible—inclusive, welcoming, and fun.

The programming is varied, always keeping things fresh and exciting, and the coaches are all pros at scaling/adapting to your individual needs. The benchmark cycles are a blast and push you to challenge yourself with different skills, while the coaches and your fellow members cheer you on as you hit new PRs.

Going to the gym used to just be a means for getting in shape for me, but since coming to RCRR, it’s become a hobby that I look forward to, and it’s often the best part of my day. I’ve never felt stronger than I have since I started classes here. Open gym is a big plus too—it gives me the opportunity to continue to work on the skills that I’m personally focusing on just for fun.

Shout out to Coach Tay (Owner), Coach Ruth, Coach Kubo, and our very own DJ TRL (Matt) for making Rose City Rec Room the best gym in Portland.

Great community gym here. I am not much of a gym-goer, but I know how good weight lifting can be for women especially. I go to a group class about weekly and I love the positive atmosphere. Focus is on form and fitness, which I LOVE. Queer-friendly, body-neutral, anti-diet culture with amazing playlists. Love the environment Tay and the rest of the trainers are cultivating.

Started going on a class pass over a year ago and ended up staying. It’s exactly what I need to get inspired to workout with awesome people in a very cool space. When Coach Tay does benchmark progression months I can really see improvement in my strength. Keeps me coming back. **super bonus for Moto parking**

I started coming here because my previous gym closed down. I tried a couple other places with a “meh” vibe. As soon as I walked into RCRR I knew it’d be a great fit for me. Diverse, body positive, and LGBTQ+ friendly. The classes are varied, so they will gently but surely kick your butt, and you’ll discover you’re truly stronger than you think. The community is great, welcoming, and fun. Tay (the owner) is amazing and the coaches are friendly and knowledgeable. Come give them a try, you won’t regret it!!

I recently joined and have been so happy: Tay is a great instructor, the work outs are varied, and I feel seen and supported! The cost is fair. The classes are small. I hate to tell everyone how wonderful it is because I want to keep it for myself! But I also want Tay to succeed!

I had been going to Core Power Yoga for awhile and decided to try out the free week with my partner who was looking to start going to the gym. We were both hooked!

Tay is an amazing coach — very thoughtful with giving you feedback on form and pushing you when appropriate. The class size is small so you get a lot of personal attention. The classes are challenging (but room for you to find your own pace) and the format changes from every class, so you’ll never feel bored. Both me and my partner, who are of different fitness level, find the classes challenging which really illustrates how this gym is great for all levels!

Rose City Rec Room is by far the best experience I’ve ever had at a gym. The owner and coach, Tay, is very kind and meets everyone where they’re at. They’re very knowledgeable and offer encouragement and tips during classes. Other members are also great, very kind and welcoming regardless of ability. I’d recommend to anyone in the greater Portland area (it’s worth the drive if you’re not in SE!)

I have been coming to the Rose City Rec Room on and off for the last year and it has become my favorite gym in Portland by far! I really enjoy that they have strength training as well HIIT classes. The classes are a great balance of pushing you to work hard without pressuring you to do something you aren’t comfortable with. Tay is a great and knowledgeable coach who really creates an inclusive environment for people of all experience levels. The gym really feels like a tight knit small community, and made me feel welcome even when I first started and didn’t know anyone. I recommend everyone to come check out this gym! P.S. the DJ, Matt, who comes on Saturdays makes the classes even better!

Rose City Rec Room is a true Portland gem. You come for the workouts (Coach Tay is an expert at their craft) - but leave with so much more. This space is the true meaning of community. Highly recommend!

The Rec Room has great small group classes for all skill levels! Very welcoming environment where coaches meet you where you’re at. I appreciate the smaller class sizes (< 12) so that form can be corrected to prevent injury. High energy, fun music, and great people to be around, the Rec Room makes working out fun!

This is the best gym I’ve ever been to. Everyone is so welcoming and kind, and the workouts are incredible. When I started, I was newer to weightlifting but all of the coaches were so supportive and met me where I was at. Over the time I’ve been going, I already feel so much stronger. I couldn’t recommend it enough!
