I was really excited to try this studio, but the experience was disappointing. I arrived early, couldnβt find parking, and the map sent me to the wrong βSellwood Yogaβ , there are actually two locations very close to each other, but this is not mentioned anywhere. The first studio was locked, and only after driving away did I realize there was a second one.
I arrived a few minutes late, and no one was at the front desk. The instructor didnβt acknowledge me or offer any guidance. For a studio that promotes mindfulness and community, the lack of clarity and welcome was surprising. They should clearly mention the two locations and give better instructions for first-time visitors.

I took Lanaβs restorative yoga class at 7:30pm on Wednesday nights and I slept so good! Iβve been traveling the PNW for about 2 months now and havenβt been able to drop into a yoga class so not only was this long overdue but it was exactly what I needed β¦ always happens like that .. she was very intentional with the flow of the class and focused on letting the soft feminine in and incorporated somatic movements .. my nervous system was so happy ! Highly recommend taking her class if you have been go,go,go or having trouble sleeping this will help you .. I promise

Nice clean studio offering multiple classes throughout the week as well as retreats. Been going for several months and my favorite is restorative yoga on Monday evenings with Quinn. She will go around the room and make sure that every person is as comfortable as possible. In addition, the positions are held for 15-20 minutes at a time which works well for me because it takes me at least 5-10 minutes to settle into a position enough to feel the benefits.

My friends and I came in for a private session with Jess to celebrate a birthday and it was the most amazing experience! The studio was lovely and Jess provided the perfect instruction for all levels including thoughtfulness throughout the entire process. We were blown away. Jess is the best and I highly recommend the entire experience!

A really welcoming space, beautiful and everyone is friendly and kind. All of the classes I have attended have been a great experience, both calming and challenging at the same time. I would recommend Sellwood Yoga to beginners and also to the more experienced.

Sellwood yoga is the complete experience you look for in a yoga studio. All classes I've taken (in person and online) have been very accessible without being too easy (base poses accompanied by more challening alternatives). All the instructors are so kind and welcoming and the space is clean and very comfortable. I'm using their summer pass for unlimited classes and the ability to choose whether to drive to the studio or take it from home is so welcome. The zoom calls can be a little glitchy but I blame technology, not the studio. If you're looking for a new studio (beginner or experienced) you'll do no wrong coming here.

Sellwood yoga is a great studio - I appreciate early morning classes and the outdoor deck. The studio is nicely maintained, there are lots of classes to choose from & many times offered. Parking in Sellwood hasn't been a problem & it's right near a Grand Central Bakery location.

I started going to Sellwood Yoga on Sunday mornings with a friend (Billβs class!). It has been such a lovely experienceβ¦strong instruction in a welcoming space. Iβve since tried their Tuesday classes with Maria and have had the same experience. I always feel great after class and so enjoy the practice space, fellow yogis, and the wonderful instructors. I think the classes are great for both novices and experienced yogis. Highly recommend.

Tucked away on a busy street, you leave your shoes in the narrow hall that leads to a desk next to a gorgeous studio with igh ceilings and big windows looking out to the nature swathed deck (that's available to practice on nice days!). The teachers are welcoming and knowledgeable and there is a really nice assortment of class options & times.
I really enjoy practicing here.

I just moved to Portland and was looking for something new that could mesh with my fitness goals. I am quite new to a yoga practice. I found Sellwood Yoga online, but it was then recommended by my neighbor. What a discovery! I've tried a couple different classes and found the instructors really strong and helpful...especially since I didn't know much about the vocabulary, or types of practice. I was hesitant to "perform" in what could be a competitive environment...absolutely not true. Even as a rank beginner among experienced folks, I felt very comfortable and the groups have been very welcoming. And, I sustained a bad injury (at home) and the teachers have helped me continue while I recover. I highly recommend this studio.

Did not get to experience this class, I registered beforehand, showed up two minutes before the class was scheduled to start to a locked door. Standing there at the door in full yoga gear ready to go, this is a 5:30pm class on a Friday and I'm really let down. I would understand if I was late or didn't register beforehand, but really disrespectful for those of us who work a 9-5.

I live in San Francisco and have practiced yoga and other fitness classes with Bill and Savonn 2-3x/weekly for about 20 years! First at Bernal Yoga in SF, more recently at Sellwood Yoga through their LiveStream zoom classes. They select wonderful teachers, well-paced, good instruction. Different classes for each ability level. Their studios are neat, clean and functional. And the vibe is upbeat and positive. I cannot recommend any fitness studio or group of teachers any more highly! THANK YOU, BiLL, SAVONN and STAFF!!

When Sellwood Yoga opened, I was an early member. Since then, I've had classes with almost every instructor, all of them excellent and all of them kind and welcoming. I've attended a retreat, had individual lessons, taken Christine's Stretch and Strengthen often and studied MSBR with Denise. Sellwood Yoga has enriched my life, so much so that when I moved from Sellwood last year, I kept my membership so I could participate online. Sellwood Yoga, you are a nurturing friend and a beautiful community.

I love Sellwood Yoga! Iβm a new student here and have been attending classes for the past month or so. Compared to the many studios I've been to in Seattle and Portland, Sellwood really stands out, for the really special energy it offers and deeply supportive, restorative space.
Also, the vibe cannot be beat. No egos or competitiveness - just strong community, through an emphasis on acceptance, nurturing, and support (in addition to exceptional instruction). Iβm so appreciative that I found Sellwood.

I'm new in town and so happy to have Sellwood Yoga in my neighborhood. The studio is beautiful and I really appreciate the variety of offerings on the schedule. I'm a long-time yogi who is facing knee replacement surgery, and am happy that there are classes that can work for me now, like the pilates classes and the MELT method classes, and will look forward to being in the yoga and strengthening classes post surgery. Both of the teachers that I've experienced are knowledgable, lead a well sequenced class, and I can tell that they care about both the art and science of their craft. As a former yoga studio owner, I know what it takes to have a well-run studio and I think Sellwood Yoga has put it all together with great thoughtfulness and style.

This place is turning me into a real yogi, which is something I only ever identified with while drinking bedtime tea previously. I have tried other yoga classes in different places, and I either felt too slow, unknowledgeable, or judged by lifelong yogis. Sellwood Yoga is the only place I feel I can go at my own pace, learn as I go, and feel warm and welcome the entire class. My favorite part is looking around seeing some people doing advanced versions of my beginning pose and feeling encouraged to practice more. Thank you to all the lovely instructors and folks of Sellwood Yoga for making me feel confident in my body and practice!

I just started practicing at Sellwood yoga a little over a week ago and I canβt say enough good things. Sellwood Yoga is one of the only studios I've found in Portland that cares so deeply about their students. The instructors always make an effort to come greet me if I'm new to their class and they even try to incorporate certain poses if anyone mentions that they're feeling tension in a certain area. The studio is beautiful, open and clean. I always feel renewed and calm after each class thanks to the fantastic teaching of the instructors. Doing what is good for your own body seems to be a fundamental goal of the studio- so refreshing after trying so many other places in the area that feel restricting and judgmental. I could not recommend Sellwood Yoga more, go take a class and you'll see why!

I've been to many yoga studios in town and all are really good -- we Portlanders are very lucky to have such great talent! No need to leave your own neighborhood.
Sellwood Yoga is in my neighborhood and I started going there about a month ago. I've found the studio very well organized, clean, well appointed, and convenient. Street parking is free. Prices are competitive. The staff is friendly and casual, there's no big trip happening, and my classmates are the same way. Normal voices and down-to-earth people.
I was noticing today how the studio is clean and simple, there's nothing extraneous, but what's there is well done, functional and beautiful. Everything you need is there. The floor to ceiling studio glass doors open onto a courtyard garden.
Oh yes, the classes (although for me, a large part of being anywhere is the ambiance/terroir/vibe!). Classes, of course, are offered at many different levels, at convenient times (for me), and there are regular appealing and relevant workshops. The teachers encourage us to not stress our bodies, to pay attention, and to not strain in any pose. They seem well trained and care about their students. They've been very helpful during class if you need a head support, a blanket, or to find a variation of a pose if you have a tricky shoulder, or hip
I recommend Sellwood Yoga!.

Sellwood Yoga provides a truly peaceful environment for yoga practice. Iβve sampled several different instructors and classes and could not be more content with my experiences. No matter where you are in your practice, there is a place for you at Sellwood Yoga. I definitely plan on returning as much as I can!

This is studio feels like home. The teachers and the students are all friendly and down-to-earth and I've never felt uncomfortable in a class. The room is never too crowded and it's full of natural light and (when suitable) the doors open to the garden to let in fresh air. One of my favorite studios!

I love Sellwood Yoga! Such a gem in the neighborhood. It's helpful for me to recover from injuries because they have a lot of low impact classes.

A lovely, welcoming space with offerings for yogis of all ages and abilities. Not a βsceneβ like some trendy studios, this offers authentic yogic philosophy and practice without hype or self-consciousness.
Maria, who teaches Hatha, is a treasure. Her encouraging and supportive classes are deeply nourishing and inspirational.

I stumbled across this wonderful studio while exploring downtown Sellwood and decided to give their affordable student starter pass a try. Iβve been attending classes for a month and have enjoyed every class I have tried. They have a huge variation in instructors, and classes scattered from early morning to evening so that you can always find one that fits your schedule. Itβs also a really nice perk to be able to attend classes at their sister studio Align Fitness, for when youβre craving a different type of movement. I would highly recommend Sellwood Yoga!

As soon as I walked in I felt welcomed not only by the teacher, but by the other students. The space is open with lots of natural light which I love. I only started a week ago, but I am hooked. I'm new to Yoga and I love the different class levels they offer so I'm able to progress at my own pace. I would highly recommend Sellwood Yoga.

One of the best yoga studios around! Not only are Bill and Savonn great yoga instructors, they hire wonderful yoga instructors as well. The class offerings are diverse enough to work for any level - from Basic Vinyasa, Vinyasa Flow, Strong Vinyasa, Gentle and Restorative, Yoga for Athletes, MELT Method and more. The community that attends is very supportive and friendly. This place is home away from home. Highly recommend!

Sellwood Yoga has created a lovely yoga experience! They have great instructors, and a serene space that looks our onto an outdoor patio. They have excellent props available (including my favorite.. sandbags!) And the schedule offers a huge variety of options.

I am loving my classes at Sellwood Yoga. Being an on-again, off-again yogi for 6 years, I've experienced the gamut of teachers and studios and I was worried I wouldn't find a place I would connect with like I did when I lived on the westside (shout out to Santosha Yoga!). I've tried the Vinyasa Flow, Gentle Yoga, and Restorative/Mellow Yoga classes and have thoroughly enjoyed all three. Caitlin, Ryan, and Bill are great instructors, and although the place is cozy, the energy is amazing. I look forward to re-engaging in a lifelong practice here!

I absolutely love classes here. Perfect balance of strength and flexibility. They always play wonderful music during class & there's a beautiful serene courtyard to look out into during class. I also like that the little cubby area for personal stuff is directly connected to the yoga studio rather than out in the lobby so I know my stuff is always safe. Street parking but I've never had a problem finding a spot!

Sellwood Yoga is simply excellent at what they do. I've been to dozens of yoga studios and this one is a perfect fit for me - no mirrors, no attitude, no pressure, no 'stars' - just talented instructors with a true passion to share and teach what they love. Thank you Sellwood!

Sellwood Yoga is a place for you to be yourself, listen to your body, adapt to poses, and do what you can do. You can open your heart, emotions, mind, spirit and soul as you become one with a beautiful community, extraordinary teachers and unlimited bliss.....I moved into this neighborhood and bought a home here so I can continue to practice in this sacred place.

I really enjoyed practicing at this space. One of the only studios I've ever been to with cork floors (really nice and soft :)
