tldr: gym is great for beginner and intermediate Ninja's but struggles to have challenges that push beyond the intermediate level.

The staff was kind, but there was nobody at the checkout for around the first 15 minutes we were waiting.

the climbing wall has a really strange grading curve but the climbs looked fun.

The ninja area is fairly standard and has some cool obstacles.

the parkour area seemed a little lacking beyond the intermediate level but there are still hard challenges if you look for them

I almost cannot believe how thoroughly great this gym is. I have a three and thirteen year old each taking classes, and they have had nothing but good experiences. I have yet to encounter a coach who isn't patient, persistent, and kind, and we look forward to coming here every week. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Great place. Great coaches. Great for birthdays. My kid( 9) loves the challenge of each class, the team building and the ability to grow between all that is offered. Ninja, parkour, climbing and silks. So fun.

Really love this place. The coaches are super nice and helpful and they’re very supportive. The front desk is always helpful when you are injured or are checking in for a class. Mia and Greg are amazing. Management got it right with them 2 at the front greeting families walking thru that door. I appreciate the familiar and welcoming staff.....unlike the "just a number" feeling I get at Defy.

My kid loves parkour and Ninja classes!!

The recent switch to rollover classes was a TERRIFIC decision. It shows appreciation and integrity for paying memberships. This provides relief and comes in handy when parents are juggling sick kids and/or family vacations, etc. Thank you!!

My 3.5 yr old son LOVED his class here so we got him signed up for more. There are endless things to climb and play on. The coaches set up obstacle courses for the kids and coach them through them. I love that it allows the kids to explore and try different ways of getting on top of it over large structures. My son was so proud when he tried a specific trick over again and saw improvement and was able to practice until he accomplished what he was trying to do. I also love that their classes are flexible. For memberships you get 4 classes a month and you get to sign up for whatever day/time you want for each class instead of having to come at the same day/time every week. You could even do all 4 classes in the same week if you’re going to be out of town for the rest of the month.
Clean place. Easy parking lot. Bathrooms onsite.

A few months ago I cam in looking to find a place for my son who has ADHD to get his energy out. I spoke with Greg at the front desk and was told that they had a deal going on that if I signed up for a silver package I would pay 165$ and a 49$ membership fee. I asked muitpul times what the total cost was and at no time did Greg explain that it was 165$ a month. I was told that all I had to pay was 215$ on time that was it and that if I agreeed to this deal they would wave the 49$ membership fee. A few months later I noticed a charge on my bank statement of 165$ and a 49$ charge. I call and talk to Greg and he tells me that we must of had a misunderstanding but that I will have to pay not only a $300 cancelation fee but also 165$ for one more month before they can cancel my membership. Strongly advise against trusting the sales tactics and pressure sales they do here. I'm a single income house hold and can not afford to pay this money and they are unwilling to work with me. Thanks shyhigh

Skyhook Ninja Fitness is a hidden gem in the Beaverton/Tigard area. For as much as it rains in the PNW, places like these should be a requirement to be available for kids to utilize while the weather is as miserable as it is between November - February.

It's a massive place that has a little bit of everything for kids. I'm not sure about the specific ages the place suggests, but our party had mostly 4-8 year olds, but my 18 month daughter ran around trying to keep up too.

We had my son's 7th birthday party here and the party had about 13 kids. They all had a blast. There's an obstacle course, a climbing wall, running wall, Zipline and so much more.

Each group or party has a few "coaches" that instruct the kids on the different phases of the course. They're great with the kids and offer them encouragement as well as tips on how to complete the course. They have patience like middle school teachers, as they are dealing with many kids at once who are anxious to go on the course. The coaches did a great job at being firm but friendly.

The party room is the only mark I'd see that needs improvement. It's quite small and is a storage room for them as well. It's a bit crammed, so if you have more than 6 or so kids, it can get a bit crowded, especially with parents in tow.

But this place also offers personal training, free time and other activities that aren't tied to a party specifically. If we lived a little closer we'd definitely inquire about a membership. Check this place out. The kids love it and they get actual physical activity!

My 9 year old son is having the experience of a lifetime at Skyhook Fitness. He is on the spectrum and is hyper-active, so he has struggled socially and behaviorally which has been very hard on his self-esteem. Not only does Skyhook provide a place to channel his big energy into new skills, he is learning respect and discipline. The coaches are AMAZING. They have a gift for patience with boundaries. My son really looks up to them and aspires to work with them when he grows up.

The blend of different classes is awesome, and as another person mentioned makes for a well-rounded athlete. The classes themselves look fun and challenging and are very well run and organized. Front desk staff are always friendly and helpful, and the gym is clean.

I honestly can’t say enough about our experience at Skyhook. It is the perfect place for physical and mental growth. Google doesn’t provide enough stars!

If you want to bring your child to the class and find out that the schedule has changed or class was canceled, you are welcome to Skyhook Ninja Fitness. I am not sure what is wrong with their system but we receive the emails with reminders about the class but never with the updates. And yes, you pay for the service and drive 25 minutes to find out that you are late for 15 minutes because the schedule was updated. Everyone is very nice and apologise and then in a couple months it happens again. β€œWe are really sorry, we don’t know why you didn’t receive the email. Let us check if your email is in our system. Yes, it’s over here. We are sorry again”
Maybe you should just fix you mailing system rather than apologise every time?
I didn’t want to write the review last time thinking that it could happen to anyone but now I know that that is going to happen on regular basis.
I wouldn’t stay with this fitness for a moment but my son loves the idea to learn what ninja does. The stuff is great, I have no complaints about them.

PS
Thank you for letting me know that you cancelled our membership. I didn’t not receive the email about that. If you wouldn’t answer me here, I would have to drive to the fitness again to find out that our membership was terminated.
I want to point that I was given 1 months but not 2 of free classes after we missed 2 classes because of the wrong set up. And I don’t agree that I abused anyone. I was angry, it’s for sure but I didn’t said anything personal to your stuff.
I didn’t give you β€œfake” email. Customer service set up it wrong.
There was no email in my folder, neither my husband folder, no spam folder. If I would find it overs there, I would apologise. (I know it’s hard to believe)
Anyway, Thank you for letting me know that we are canceled. Sorry about that and I wish you fix your mailing system.

Skyhook Ninja has been an amazing place for my son to grow and develop. My son loves to climb, flip and jump and Skyhook Ninja Fitness helps him develop these skills in a safe and fun way. On top of the physical instruction there is a focus on the emotional aspect of facing challenges. One example is at the end of each class they ask the students to reflect on what they feel proud about accomplishing. They also ask the students to compliment someone else in the class for taking a risk.

AMAZING place to be active and have fun doing ninja and obstacle course training, whether you're a serious ninja competitor or just looking for a fun and diverse work out. There are several people that train there that have competed on the official American Ninja Warrior show, in addition to many others that have tried out and will hopefully get an opportunity in the future. So the energy with so many talented athletes is great, but it's also very welcoming and fun for anyone new to the sport or just looking to sweat and be healthy. The rules and safety measures are good for keeping people safe but you can still have a lot of fun, get creative and push yourself. I have had the joy of training there with my elementary age child and together we've had a blast - we both have as much fun as the other person. The staff are incredible, friendly, talented and very helpful and both my child and I have built great friendships with many of them. I would highly recommend the gym to anyone interested in anything Ninja, obstacle racing, climbing, or functional fitness! Support a great local, family owned business and work out in a way that never gets boring!

The place is great - lots of equipment, though spacing between equipment (and children) can be tight and hard to navigate. The open gym times are wonderful for children to run off energy, though they can run into each other in their exuberance. I have three complaints:

1. No guarantee to participate in regularly scheduled classes. Although your child may want to be in the same class each week, you are not automatically assigned. Families need to call in EACH week to put your child into the desired class. For the amount of money that the facility charges, this requirement to have to call in each week is needlessly complicated.

2. Communication is poor on what is expected of the student and how to advance to different skill levels. We assumed that when taking a regularly scheduled class the instructor would be able to gauge the student's ability to advance on to the higher levels via their belt-testing system. However - we were told weeks after joining that students need to take a variety of classes. There is no explanation as to what classes constitutes this "variety;' I've asked for clarification and received none. There also seems to be little consistency in which teacher will lead a class from week to week, making an accurate assessment of a student's progress difficult.

3. Although the place is for both kids and adults, parents and other kids often walk in areas when classes are in session, and try to use the same equipment that the classes are using. It's quite inconsiderate and distracting for other people to walk through a class. The teachers should be more clear about boundaries of where parents can and cannot walk or stand.

We just celebrated my son's birthday here today and based on our experience I decided to write this review on the same day so that I don't forget to write it (that's how much we loved this place). The experience that Skyhook Ninja provides for anyone, birthday party or just visitor, is exceptional. I have been to many places that have elements of what Skyhook offers (climbing wall, trampolines/jumping areas, or a few of the upper body options) but this is the first place I've been to that combines them all. This alone is a blast for anyone, and especially kids! I was also so impressed by the staff. Shua and (I think Liam) did such an outstanding job of making us feel welcome and keeping the kids engaged and having a blast. Also, this place goes above and beyond for kids with special needs--as we were leaving, they were having an event for dyslexia/kids with dyslexia, and when I told Shua at the beginning of the party that my son has special needs he actually embraced that and made me feel completely welcome. I cannot say enough good things about this place for any kid, and if you are thinking of having a party here you will find a very fun, engaging experience with dynamic instructors! We cannot wait to go back!

My non-athletic loving 12 year old daughter and active 9 year old son started here in May and have loved it. I think they like that there are so many challenges and things to do that they don’t get bored. They can achieve at different rates and it’s okay. The teachers have been nothing short of amazing with them. They push them but also understand that they learn and are active, in different ways. My daughter lets fear get in the way of β€œjust doing it” so the instructors teach her a bit differently than my son who is β€œall in” and just goes for it. After three months of going month to month, we decided to commit for a year and save a bit. Although school and soccer have started up again, we still get there twice a week and there’s no twisting arms since they enjoy it so much.

I wish Skyhook Ninja Fitness existed when I was younger. I would have trained parkour there, I would have climbed there, I would have trained for American Ninja warrior there, I would have had my birthday there, and I would have been part of the community of enthusiasts who make Skyhook Ninja Fitness Portland's premier Ninja gym.

The next best thing to having a Skyhook Ninja Fitness as a kid is to have it now. There are awesome obstacles and bouldering routs which are changed often enough to make sure you never get bored. The staff are knowledgeable, accepting and passionate. The community and coaches encourage growth while being very supportive while students work at their own pace to improve.

The whole building seems to be pleasantly governed by safety, covered in pads. I would have less broken bones if I had a place like this when I was younger, but I'll have fewer injuries moving forward because I have it now!

In the end, you go to train and end up hanging out for the culture and conversation.

This review is long over due. I have been training at Skyhook Ninja Fitness since it opened in 2017... Skyhook Ninja Fitness is hands down the best Ninja Gym in the Portland Oregon area. The offer a variety of training including Parkour, Gymnastics, Bouldering, Obstacle training, Aerial silks, trampolines. And they offer classes for all ages and abilities. They promote a fun, family, functional fitness culture so often times when my son/daughter is in a class I am also training in another class or working out in open gym time. After class is over my kids usually want to stay for open gym to get more practice time or training in. Its hard to get them to leave sometimes. :)

The coaches doing a great job with the classes and have an excellent Ninja Team program where they have had several nationally recognized athletes at various Ninja Warrior League competitions. They hold competitions every few months which are exciting times to meet other like minded Ninjathletes. Have this place in Portland has been instrumental in helping me get ready for all my competitions the past couple years. (Ninja Warrior, UNAA, NNL, Spartan Races)

Even if you don't want to compete in these competitions it is great place to train and get exercise. The diversity of training keeps exercise interesting and "not boring". The facility also has great personal trainers. Israel is one of the best Ninja Coaches around and recently competed on American Ninja Warrior. I like the fact that the facility continues to evolve and improve its class offerings and services. The climbing routes and obstacles also get changed out regularly to keep things fresh and challenging.

Skyhook Ninja Fitness also does great birthday parties and summer camps. My kids have experienced both and always have had a great time. They keep the kids moving and active and having fun.

I would highly recommend giving Skyhook Ninja Fitness a try if you looking for a fun family fitness environment. The variety of training will keep fitness fun, interesting, and diverse.

When I first started training at skyhook I was as so many others are, a lost gymnast. After being in such a committed sport I didn’t know what to do with myself after I quit. Skyhook gave me a everything I missed from gymnastics and so much more, and the thing is, skyhook is what you make it. It can be serious training or it can be come in and have fun playing on obstacles. Skyhook’s coaches are great at recognizing ones athletic ability to make it challenging for all levels of fitness, by extension, everyone is so nice and always willing to help in the ninja community, it’s a very vocal and giving sport. That’s what really drew me to skyhook and to ninja. 2 years later I work at skyhook and I like to think I’m giving kids that same thing, a place to be athletic while still having fun.

My two kids (6 and 9 yo) love this place. They did their first week trial and tried as many classes as they could. There are a variety of activities - climbing, gymnastics, ninja - their favorite was Parkour. They wanted to continue coming to this place so we decided to become members. The coaches are friendly and seem genuinely interested in their students :)

Skyhook is absolutely amazing! The variety of obstacles and classes make for well rounded athletes. The gym is clean and well kept. Staff is top notch! They are always very friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgable about the classes they teach. But what is the most important is the dedication and support they give to the kids. My son struggled at the climbing wall for a long time. Staff were willing to put in time and effort to coach and motivate him to overcome his fears. He gained confidence and strength. They form trusting relationships with my kids, which is so important to me.

Ah, where do I start?

The staff is very respectful and continue on trying to motivate you by constantly giving you an extra push here and there, and they give big compliments when you accomplish something, even if it's small.
If you feel insecure or doubtful, they give you a pep-talk or tell you about a time they were in your same situation. And they joke around with you as well, they're very funny.

The interior itself is crazy. They change the middle training jungle everyday, so that it never gets boring with the same obstacles, and there's a bunch of stuff to mess around with and exercise on. It's actually insane how much stuff they have that all relate to fitness and wacky stuff in general.

Its a good gym overall for training for Ninja Warrior and getting fit in general, helps you build your confidence in general as well. I highly recommend it!!

Really great place- climbing wall, trampoline area, parkour, and of course obstacles you might see on American Ninja Warrior. A positive vibe runs through, because it's policy with the staff there. Not cheap, hopefully they can offer scholarships or discounts to families in need at some point. The benefits to self esteem would be great to poor local kids.

We love this place!!!! Super friendly and helpful staff. Our kids are 6 and 8 and it’s the first gym where age doesn’t matter and they are challenged with new obstacles every time. It’s an awesome place for stronger than average kids without helicopter parents to get stronger and more confident every week. Kids are way stronger than people think. I love that the open gym times are convenient too. The competitions here are super fun too. It is expensive. I wish there were package deals for two kids or families, but can’t have everything. We feel so lucky to have a ninja gym in Portland. Some kids drive from all over to come.

Be aware of summer classes if your kids are older! We signed our boys up for the morning session which is for ages 5-14. However, it is absolutely tailored for little kids. After you account for arrival and discussion with the kids of the plan for the day there is maybe an hour of activity before there is an hour of mandatory rest. Older kids do not have the option of taking a shorter rest. This is perfect for little kids but for kids like mine that are used to high levels of activity an hour of downtime after such a short period of activity is way too long. This is not explained on any of the material. When you look at the curriculum of the camp which was provided when requested (after we had paid) and subtract out the mandatory breaks there is open gym time and a small sliver of actual coordinated activity for the morning session. When trying to discuss the instructor was very defensive. One of my sons is a member of a Parkour gym and had considered attending Skyhook. That will not be happening and we'll find better uses of our money at other camps. Very disappointed, and they were so excited to come here.

Poorly managed facility. The fired their excellent gymnastics instructors without reason and replaced them with non-gymnasts. It is unsafe and irresponsible to have people with next to no gymnastics experience teach such a class. They also failed to inform their regular students of such an abrupt change. There are also many safety concerns with their facility, such as exposed poles (and a metal slide) that are in the path of trampolines, obstacles, and tumbling runs. They lost many long term regular customers due to all this and completely let down their gymnastics team kids.

Awsome. Amazing fun. My daughter loves it and in one month her strength a coordination have really improved. The coaches are pretty amazing too.

They have recently added a few more classes for the younger kids which is amazing. The older kids aren't slowed down as much and the little kids (6-8) get even better instruction.

I cannot stress enough how much this has helped my daughter develop with strength and agility. In school, my kindergartener can now keep up physically with the third graders.

All the coaches are great but Coach River and coach Cody are so encouraging and sweet but also push in a very supportive waym they really get the kids to go out of their comfort zones in a safe and natural way.

I've taken my daughter to rock climbing gyms and gymnastics.. she prefers this and has developed faster and has so much more fun.

I legit can't say enough good things about this place and I encourage anyone with kids in the area to check it out.

Skyhook offers a diverse selection of equipment and activities, as well as a fun and supportive atmosphere, to help people of all ages achieve their fitness goals. My youngest child (age 7) wants to be a ninja and Skyhooks coaching is the perfect fit. His strength, abilities and self-confidence have increased significantly since he started training. My oldest child (age 10) just wanted to have fun but has noticed he has more upper body and core strength. It has made him a better athlete overall. I am focused on building my overall strength to keep up with the two boys and prefer more traditional workouts with free weights. I love that I can do that and climb on the rock wall with my boys all in one place.
