I never excepted the change one place and people could lead me to. In less than a year Nick Anderson (trainer, ANDO) and the SU/NLB community has helped me get stronger, lose 40lb, gain incredible muscle/definition, along with happiness, self confidence, energy, sense of community and FUN! There are not enough words, Thank you and to anyone reading this JOIN!

As a newbie to strength training and a 42 year old mom of two children under five, I was both anxious and apprehensive about starting at a gym. I was quickly relieved after meeting Coach Nick for a free visit to Strength Union. The space itself has high ceilings and a garage door that can be opened, giving it a spacious and welcoming feel. The members are friendly, knowledgeable and nonjudgemental and, despite me not feeling I fit the criteria of a strength gym, make me feel I belong there. Coach Nick has a confident, vibrant and kind vibe about him. He’s really awesome. I signed up for 2 months of personal training with him during which I learned how to safely and properly lift. Each time I got stuck, he had a seemingly magic tip that would allow me to progress.
I now have the passion and basic skills I need to make strength training a part of the rest of my life. Thank you, Coach Nick and Strength Union πŸ‘Š

SU is a great gym in a convenient location. Several squat racks and types of bars, overall nice selection of powerlifting and strength-training equipment. Good energy from the other members, and Coach Nick is a great guy who is genuinely invested in the success of others.

A solid place for lifting heavy and making friends. This gym had all the pieces I needed to get stronger – chains, bands, and bars. The only reason I changed gyms is because I moved. I enjoyed my stay at Strength Union, thanks y'all!

Excellent facility! Was in Portland on vacation but needed somewhere to train while there. Jordan was very responsive and accommodating. I train at 5 am and that was not a problem at all (even Saturday and Sunday). They had everything I needed and more.
I observed some of their members' number on the wall and I can tell there are a lot of folks getting strong there from all levels of strength. I did not personally train with any of the coaches but if the interactions I had are any indication, this is a very welcoming place. Whether you live in or around Portland, or are just in town for a bit, stay out of the box gyms and check out Strength Union!

Took the Intro to Strength class with Jordan and it was awesome. Lots of great info delivered in an efficient way, not pushy or intimidating at all. Really appreciate this kind of class being offered to get started on a strength building journey!

I’ve lived all over pdxβ€” and I’ve worked out in NE, SW, NW, etc and Strength Union is without question the best gym in the city. I hit a new deadlift PR of 2.05xBody Weight while training here during Q1 of 2025

2nd time being here, and 2nd time wishing I lived close enough to come here more often. Inclusive, helpful, patient atmosphere where a new lifter can be new with confidence. Here's a picture of my 109lb 16-year-old hitting a new PR with the raging support of literally every single person there.

On a visit from out of town, and in need of a solid strength workout, I took advantage of Strength Union’s handy drop-in option. Gym was well-equipped for serious lifting, with friendly vibe. I would use it again on a future trip.

Great gym, great atmosphere, really kind people. It's very accessible and has all the lifting equipment and apparatus you need. I really appreciate how easy it is to just go in do and do a solo workout but what there are also lots of opportunities to tap into community here.

I've been a avid gym-goer for more than a year but I wasn't feeling confident or safe with a number of the standard Olympic lifts. After a brief assessment Jordan was able to give me instruction and form cues to help improve my lifting and some encouragement that has me looking forward to my next leg day.

Thanks Jordan!

Can not compare this gym to no other. Had to move from Portland for the time being, but the environment and people who helped me push you into a whole other gear. The guys Jordan, Denis, and Jason I would recommend without a doubt, they are great people and amazing to work with. Try this spot out, you'll understand after.

This is the best gym I've ever been a member of. The new owner, Jordan, puts a ton of effort and energy into making sure the gym is clean, running smoothly, and has updated equipment. It's also super easy to communicate with him. This gym has everything you need.
The biggest perk, though, is that you get 24/7 access with a key fob, and this gym is almost never closed.

I was a member at Strength Union for over a year and joined their Barbell Club. I had been lifting for several years, but at SU I started hitting PRs in just a few months and continued to the entire time I followed their training plans. Their coaches know what they’re talking about, give pointed advice and critiques, and are always are supportive and friendly. I recommend this gym to anyone looking to start powerlifting or get to the next level with their core lifts!

Strength Union is an absolute gem for those seeking a dedicated powerlifting haven. The moment you step in, it's clear that this is no ordinary gym. Rows upon rows of barbells and an abundance of power racks greet you, ensuring that the coveted iron isn't just available but plentiful. Rarely do I encounter any waiting time for a power rack, making each workout seamless and efficient.

Unapologetically tailored to powerlifting aficionados, Strength Union forgoes the typical cardio machines and weight contraptions. This space is an ode to the art of powerlifting, evident in its meticulously color-coded barbells, specialty bars neatly arranged in the rear rack, and an exhaustive collection of accessories that would make any powerlifter's heart skip a beat. Dumbbells stand ready, an air bike beckons, the rower awaits, and a select few weight stacks are in place.

Strength Union seamlessly bridges the gap between a garage gym's intimacy and a comprehensive equipment arsenal. Without a doubt, Strength Union earns a resounding 10/10 from me.

If you are looking for a powerlifting gym look no further. They have numerous barbells and plentiful power racks. Only rarely did I ever have to wait for a rack to work out.

Being a power lifting gym, don't expect rows of cardio machines or numerous weight machines. This gym is 100% geared towards powerlifting. They have all their barbells color coded, specialty bars in the back rack, and every imaginable accessory device/machine for powerlifting. They have a rack of dumbbells, an air bike, a rower, and a few weight stacks as well.

I would highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to improve their strength through barbell training.

I've had a membership here off and on for about a year and some change. The atmosphere is always friendly, there are events and things happening in and outside of the gym, and people are typically there to work out. It's a powerlifting gym with 24/7 access at a really affordable month to month payment plan, no contracts. The equipment is constantly being updated and replaced and building being maintained with a new change in ownership recently, which also gives you access to another gym in town as well. Overall, highly recommend Strength Union.

The gym has every piece of equipment/bar you would need to train, and the environment is great as well

If you're someone who likes to be social while training you would enjoy it there, but also if you're someone like me who prefers to keep to themselves while training people will respect that too

Even though it's not as big of a space compared to other gyms I've lifted at, I trained here for over a year and never had to wait for a rack or bench to open up

I joined Strength Union just a few weeks ago and I can say for sure that I have never worked so hard in a gym. The coaching I’m receiving from Jordan, the owner, and Denis, another excellent trainer, is just what I need to build muscle and bone health. It is simple and efficient and really hard and really fun. Strength Union is a gym and a community where you get introduced to all the lifters by Jordan and everyone is welcoming whether you are a novice or someone who has been lifting for a very long time and whether you are young or not young!
I’m so glad to have found my way there.
