I love this gym. It’s a second home to me. If you are an aggressive boulder, the grades here are very soft. If you come from Europe or Asia, the grades are very very very soft. I don’t mind it at all though. The climbs are technical and fun at almost all levels, though 1 and 2 are mostly ladder climbing. I think if you consider 3 as 1 you’re closer to grade from there up. Ignore the grade and just have as much fun as you can. This gym is super fun. Seven feels around a six, and eight up are close or at grade. The gym is very well maintained, and the staff are great folks. My life would be much less if this gym weren’t around.

It's not very large, and with all Circuit gyms it's only bouldering, so no top rope. I will also say that during the school year it's a regular place for college students at night. That said, it's still one of my favorite gyms with fun routes. They also have competitive pricing, and with generally softer graded routes, it's great for beginners, but still has enough for stronger climbers.

our 6 year old had her birthday here and had a great time - it was truly the perfect thing for a dozen kindergarteners to get their energy out, they were so engaged the whole time and no one wanted to leave!

welcoming and patient instructors who set up fun games, great kids climbing section in a corner with tables and chairs for byo food/drinks and an epic slide (!!). also was a very chill vibe/not crowded with other screaming children, and the parents could mostly chat and relax.

our youngest is already asking to have her next birthday here !

The Good:
Beginner friendly. New climbers will be able to many routes hereβ€”more than other gyms in the area.
More affordable than other climbing gyms.
2 free guest passes a month.

The Bad:
Kids run around and their parents aren’t always watching. The gym doesn’t seem to care either. I personally don’t want to be responsible for falling on a child.

Gym equipment is limited. Not a huge deal if you just want to climb.

Climbing holds often twist and shift when I put my weight on them. It happens to me around once a session( although I’m much heavier than the average climber at 210).

The padding under the climbing area feels old and needs to be replaced. My other more experienced climber friends I’ve brought have said it’s unsafe. I have hurt my back a few times falling(again, I am heavy). The gym equipment is also old. I saw the lat-pull-down bar break when someone was using it. Safety in general could be better.

As someone who was new to climbing a year ago and in my early sixties, I found this to be a great gym that was close to my home in Sellwood. The staff were always very friendly and helpful and answered my questions about routes and climbing.

Regularly climb at this gym which is very close to my house.
The routes get reset regularly with a nice variety.
Gym is clean and the walls get cleaned on each reset.
There’s also a free weight area upstairs including squat racks.
You also get access to the other Circuit gyms if you buy a membership.
Definitely recommend!

Unsafe and hostile environment. Staff members were very rude, dismissive and short. It was my first time climbing and all they had was a video that barely mentions how to properly fall. Staff continued to be unhelpful and uncaring.

My 9 year old daughter dislocated and fractured her elbow after a fall while attending camp here. They never once contacted us to see if she was ok or how she was doing or to offer us a discount for the two days of camp she wasn’t able to attend after being carted off in an ambulance to the ER. She is entering her 7th week of physical therapy for this injury with many more to go. We will not be back.

Great bouldering location. Really liked that there is good, thick mat protection in all climbing areas. The facility is nicely spaced so that it didn't feel crowded at all. There were a great variety of climbing routes, from beginner to difficult.

They have a "B" beginner route level, then the routes (challenge level) are based on numbers, 0 - 9.

We climbed around 12 - 1:30 pm on a Wednesday (day after Christmas holiday). They have you watch a 4-min safety video and completed a registration form before you start. Highly recommend this place (we visited the SW location south of OHSU).

This gym consistently has inclusive setting even at their hardest grades. Like most other climbing gyms, it still has problems with some of their male climbers being able to let women in the gym have their own experiences without bothering them.

So what I'll say is that the people are great and whatever, but I was wild unimpressed by this location and will definitely not be returning.

Tasting notes: it was wild packed with kids when we went, you're not allowed to keep your water bottle with you, the main door was closed so you had to walk down a badly lit alley to get to the side door and then walk across the mat in your shoes, there weren't any changing rooms (and the bathroom is set up so that unless you huddle in the corner behind the sinks you're in full view of the gym), there's not enough room to sit (there's like one bench), and then to top it off it's super unfriendly for beginners (the whole gym aside from like 3 walls is campusing)

This is the smallest of the 3 circuit gyms in the Portland area, but it doesn’t lack anything. Still offers a good variety of boulders and routes overall.

I personally like the icicle wall where the foot starts in air or at a higher than normal level, it’s not common in other gyms.

Parking is a pain if you are coming by car. There’s some parking on the street opposite but be mindful of that while pulling in during peak hours

If you use this place like a gym you get your money's worth in the first week. They change the courses regularly enough that you're never bored and spaced enough to where you always have a challenge to look forward to. Very nice staff and they have as many band aids as you'll need, plus tape and hand sanitizer so you can get right back to climbing. Highly recommend this to anyone

I was going to let this go, but the response to Hernan has changed my mind. I was another parent there- the safety protocol was never in question, but scaring 4-5 year old children at play by shouting at them when they haven’t had the rules appropriately delivered by staff for their age is in direct conflict with being a family-friendly option for the community. The interactions with staff were incredibly disappointing, veering towards accusatory and offensive, and kids were in the fray. This situation should be looked at carefully, as well as the ownership of where this went wrong. Truly unfortunate.

Our kids had the day off from school, we informally decided to come in and then after we were inside then they are claiming that we were too many and asked us to leave! How rude! If the place is at capacity, then don’t let people check in, pay and do waivers! How convenient to forget! Never coming back!

Terrible experiences. Inappropriate staff. Despite citing their own 'rules' and belittling us on appropriate rules, their own classes that we pay them for violates their own safety and rules due to poor teacher to student ratio. They are unable to safely monitor and support children on climbing against danger and injuries they caution against. Would not recommend unless you have no better options for whatever reasons. If you want to support the Circuit, I recommend the Tigard location. Much more professional and fun.

I went on a guest pass with a friend for my first time. It was fun but I thought a little expensive if I had to pay. You can't just pay for a couple hours, it needs to be for a full day. I was tired and done after 30 mins, lol. It was a great upper body workout. There is a small area upstairs to workout. They should consider having a happy hour price rate if there is a reoccurring slow time.

I really like their SW location as it's smaller in size than their NE location, but there is still a lot to do here and it doesn't seem to get as crowded as NE either (at least in the evenings). The only thing I don't like is that the parking lot is small and the only other option is parking across Macadam 2hich 8s not great to cross on foot.

This place is great! I come here a lot with my coworkers and the walls here are really varied and t here are a lot of them. The staff here are also really nice because they make the checkins really easy. I got a month membership that was super reasonable on Groupon and I've been coming here ever since! I like how there's a workout area if you don't want to just climb, and there's also a lot of supportive folks that come in on a regular basis. Overall, would come again, I love the bouldering walls and the differing levels. They even have a slide that you can top out then slide down!

New addition: I just climbed at their NE location. The SW location is a still a GREAT bouldering gym but the NE seems to have more interesting wall geometry and more space. I would need to spend more time at the NE location to comment on the atmosphere. I love the vibe of the SW.

An absolute blast! I first got turned on to bouldering at the place and it is awesome. The awesome thing about this place is that they work with students and making it cheaper to climb. Another great factor about the circuit gym is that just about anyone can climb, regardless of their size, age or experience. I tend to go to the place off of I-84, near the Lloyd Center, but they are both fantastic places!
