We have held both of our kids birthday parties here, separately so two different groups running it, and we 10/10 recommend having a birthday party at the circuit. They are so organized, clean, helpful, friendly, and make the experience so awesome for the kids. Its indoors so a huge plus during rainy season and it’s confined so easy to keep an eye on the kids while socializing with others.

We hosted my daughter’s 8th birthday party here, and it was an amazing experience! The staff provided fun, engaging activities for climbers of all skill levels, and everything ran so smoothly. The kids and parents all had a blast, and as the host, I really appreciated how well the day was structured—time for setup, climbing, pizza and dessert in the party room, and even an extra 30 minutes of instruction so I could clean up. Afterward, families were welcome to stay for open gym, which many happily did. Several parents told me it was one of the best kids’ parties they’ve ever attended, and my birthday girl left absolutely beaming. I would 100% recommend The Circuit for any gathering!

My kids love this gym! There is so much variety in the kids area and the slides down from the walls are awesome. My kids loved trying to conquer each wall. Highly recommend!

First of all, I've been a member since they've owned in '05 and climbed for over 25 years. Second, as everyone else had noted, the customer service is really friendly and welcoming, and the facilities are great. That being said, what really makes the Circuit outstanding is their route setting; it's the most consistent, fluid, and appealing sets of any gym I've ever climbed at. Other gyms might have larger facilities (looking at you PRG) or more feature rich (Movement) options, but their sets are awkward, dangerous, or inconsistent, meaning their crux moves are at 12 feet or higher, they have sloppy routes that unnecessarily put you at risk of hitting volumes or holds, they overly us dual tex (meaning super slick footholds), or they require you to make awkward moves (like hyper extending your back). The Circuit is great about setting challenging and fun routes that are safe and have a great flow. This is the place to climb.

Awesome gym, not too busy on a sunday but it does stay pretty humid in the building. Decent airflow so at least it's not stuffy but as a first time climber I had a blast.

The gym itself is great and the setting is just as good as anywhere else in the Portland area.
I would rate it higher but there is a strange policy where set screws cannot be used by the setting team. Set screws are additional screws in climbing holds that SHOULD be used in order to prevent holds from spinning when a climber weights them.
This is a legitimate safety risk to anyone that plans on climbing at any of the circuit gyms around Portland.

Been climbing here for years. Great gym for beginners, great gym for intermediate climbers, great gym for serious climbers. Grades top out around V9, but they do have a moon board. They also have these delicious, delicious, vegan cookies. Even if the walls burned to the ground I would still come here for the friendly atmosphere and incredible cookies. Did I mention the 🍪🍪?

Went on Saturday for a mid-morning climb. I just moved to Hillsboro and go to Portland for work. It's a commute to this gym for me, but I chose this gym out of all the other climbing gyms because I love the atmosphere, the staff, and the route setting. It's also very clean, there are yoga classes, events, and a strength-training area. PSA there is no rope, all bouldering.

**BEWARE OF MALE EMPLOYEE AT TIGARD LOCATION THAT VERBALLY ASSAULTS WOMEN & 4-year old children!! Description below.
I am a first time patron to your Tigard location. I have been looking forward to checking out your gym on behalf of my 4-year-old climbing enthusiast. I called ahead to ensure it would be suitable & appropriate for her age. I was assured there was a designated kids area that was both fun & encouraging for young climbers. We invited 3 of her friends to join us from her preschool. When we arrived on Thursday, 5/16 at 1:30pm; the gym was quiet & the staff was very friendly. We signed the waivers & headed back to the kids area. Myself & the 3 other mothers stayed in the kids section with our children. We were attentive, interactive, & engaged the entire time. Around 3pm a few more kids arrived & everyone shared the space. In a hurried instant, a tall, male employee, with shoulder-length bleach-blonde, wavy hair, & dark trimmed beard walked to the far corner to sweep something out of the top corner of the window. He turned directly on our children that were moving from one slide to the adjacent rock face & shouted aggressively at them “STOP RUNNING; STOP RUNNING. You are not allowed to run back here!” He never once made contact with us mothers (who were all watching just a few feet away) to relay a rule we were not aware of in this area. This was very upsetting. The video we watched prior to climbing stated that the rule of children running was regarding only in between & around adult areas. It did not state anything about the connecting pads between the two kids boulder walls. Our children were playing safely, responsibly, & respectfully in the kid-approved section the entire time. When kids from the 3:30pm camp showed up, this individual was the only male instructor & came into the kids area. Our children gave them space & stayed away from their lesson. Again, we were present & interactive the entire time. After the kids were done with that section, the male employee escorted them to the more advanced area. He came back to clear their equipment & abruptly; without warning, stormed over to all 4 of us women; stood on the edge of the mat. & shouted belligerently at us saying that we had been warned several times about our children not following the rules. Not only was this unprecedented, it was completely untrue. He was physically intimidating; pointing his finger directly in my face & standing intentionally & intimidatingly over me. He was shouting at the top of his lungs. None of this confrontation, under any circumstance was ok. He humiliated me, belittled me, falsely accused me of things, & caused my child & I both to fear for our safety. Not once did he or any employee come & talk to us about more specific rules regarding the kids area. Furthermore, there is not any additional, or specific signage clearly stating what the rules of conduct in the kids area are. Myself & the other mother’s he physically threatened & verbally assaulted, will not be returning to this facility. I will be posting my experience on all social media platforms as a warning to any parents of small children. This man is a threat to the safety of your business. I hope you further investigate this individual & consider the eventual legal, & financial ramifications this could cause you. Disregarding the verbally assaulting employee-incident; I would strongly encourage you to refresh your waiver video to include kid zone specific safety rules & conduct as well as clearly marking them in the designated areas. It is not fair to be expected to translate the adult version into the kid section when you have 2 slides & connecting pads.

Horrible experience usually.
Always blocking off half the gym with route-setting and no discount for it.
I live far but I guess I'll just start heading into Portland for a non Circuit gym.
Edit: this is on a Friday afternoon... Not like a Tues morning or something.

We’ve been to open climbs as well as youth after school classes and we LOVE this bouldering gym! They’re excellent at empowering kids to try climbing. The kids area is great: varying difficulties of walls plus 2 slides to get down. Instruction during youth classes has been great. My daughter leaves class saying “I can’t wait til the next one!” Tip: Make sure to watch the video and sign the waiver at home. It takes a while and is annoying to do at the gym when all you want to do is go climb.

I haven't ventured out to other climbing areas yet but this was my first one to go to. It's been a great place to climb. Definitely a lot of wall space to climb and they even have a wall for kids. They also have a gym which is also nice to have. They have shoes to rent and chalk to buy. They have cubbies to store your belongings which is appreciated. They are also fairly quick on fixing hand holds if they are loose too. Overall you'll have a great time if you commit yourself!

This was my daily gym for over 6 months in 2022, hadn't gone to another circuit and was fine with that. However, after the Halloween comp they had, the gym has not recovered and returned to any standard near that before the comp. I no longer want to come to this gym nearly at all. The sets are inconsistently graded and walls are closed or unset for no apparent reason at lengths that make no sense whatsoever. It is no longer fun to come to this gym and I feel like a fool every time I do. I hope it can recover but I am not holding my breath.

This gym is a pretty nice space however the setting at V7+ is not very accessible to people on the shorter side. Also, I'd like to make a plea to men everywhere that just because women are there, doesn't give you the right to approach them. I would love to have a climbing session in one of your gyms without randem men approaching me and asking to climb with me.

Large facility and friendly staff with lots of routes updated regularly. Great gym area and slack line. Clean locker rooms and showers.
I think this gym has a ton going for it, however I go mostly on weeknights and when the children’s classes are going on it feels more like a jungle gym than a climbing gym. Kids running and screaming and jumping on/off routes. I feel bad because there are only 2 coaches usually and there is no way they can handle that many badly behaved kids. This location also tends to be packed on weeknights and in general has more families and children than other gyms. I would avoid if you’re not a fan of crowds and children.

The place looked fun if I actually wanted to use the facilities. My son was coming for some sort of birthday thing. I ended up coming late because of work and just wanted to sit on the side and watch him do whatever he was doing. They required me provide a whole bunch of information & a waiver that also required me to watch some safety video. I don't really feel like providing them my information just to come in and watch my son use their facilities. That's like requiring a parent to sign waivers just to come watch their kid play baseball. For families who aren't always interested in participating, but maybe still want to enjoy watching their kids do things, I would recommend skyhook Ninja gym. Only the person using the facility has to have a waiver. You can definitely come in and sit in the chairs or bench and watch your kids do the course.

I love this gym, but up to half of the walls were continuously closed for painting for the last 4 months, on top of leaving some unpainted sections bare for a week at a time. As of the end of March they seem to have finally finished, but I signed up for an annual membership and feel a little bit cheated to only have 50-75% of what I paid for all that time.

Birthday party review:
We booked our kid’s birthday party here. I was a little apprehensive that it would be unfriendly due to the many rules and restrictions and the statements warning about heavy penalties or cancellation of the party, but please don’t let this turn you off of booking your kid’s event here.
The party was excellent. Check in was a little chaotic as the guests arrived the same time as we did in order to check in and because our access to the party room was only 15-min prior to the event starting. There was a room we were directed to with lovely windows outside that could open for ventilation and a big window that overlooked the kids area. There was a multipurpose table and two tables with chairs, plus extra chairs and a big box bench. The instructors, Tristan and Jacob, did an excellent job of essentially herding cats, and were amiable and engaging with the kids. The format was perfect: about an hour of climbing games, then a thirty minute unguided break in the party room for snacks and cake, then thirty more minutes of climbing. Though we did our best to tidy up, the sweeping, garbage emptying, etc. was done by the gym. Everyone working was very helpful and even gave us paper plates as we had forgotten ours.
There are a few critiques, and thus the four stars. Firstly, there isn’t a whole lot of information available online and unless you ask the right questions, you might not get the information you need. For example, I wasn’t sure what would be available, like trash bags, etc, if shoes were included, how many parents we could have, etc without asking each question specifically. Secondly, we’ve run into this problem before at other Circuit locations: there aren’t enough kids shoes available to rent. Even in the classes, which have a limited number, there aren’t enough pairs to go around and that’s including sizing up or down to just have something on the kids’ feet. Third critique is that it would be nice to limit the number of kids climbing reservations during birthday parties because initially it was sheer chaos and pandemonium with kids everywhere, until it cleared out a bit. The desk and people I emailed with kept telling me there is a limit to the number of kids during the birthday times but as I had reserved more than half of the climbs available for the siblings that aren’t included in the party, I can tell you that even the day before our event there was still the same number of climbs available as all other time slots with a party going on or not. Finally, it would also be nice if you could do a group reservation for the kids not included in the party, instead of making multiple separate reservations. There wasn’t any support in making additional child reservations for the children who weren’t allowed to participate in the party (siblings, anyone over the strict 12-child limit). The threat of the consequences and the lack of flexibility there definitely added a bit of stress.
Overall we had a great time and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the instructors and the size of the kids area in the Tigard location. All of our guests had an excellent time and the parents all reported happy and tired children after the party.

Largest of the three circuits in the Portland area. They have plenty of parking, yoga room, a mezzanine full of workout equipment etc. Also, this place is usually not crowded with climbers.
Route setting I similar to other locations. The walls are well spaced out and allows folks to focus on climbing and not having to worry about people close by. They could probably use a cave style wall for greater challenges

I’ve been a member for a while now took the intro to climbing class as a beginner and I’m up to doing 4s which I find awesome. There are such an awesome variety of problems where you can never get bored. My only issue is that it seems to always be under new problem setting so half of the boulders are closed and the rest of the boulders are super congested with 10 people waiting for the same wall. Overall I am very happy with my experience thus far with the Circuit and the facilities

It’s a fine place if you bring your own child and no one else’s. We drove across town, sitting through traffic with our child and their friend. The friend’s parent signed the waiver but once we got there we were told they needed the parent’s ID in order for us to enter. The friend’s parent was not near their wallet and didn’t have ID on hand so we wasted over an hour of our time and left with two very disappointed kids.

We were so excited to join this gym as a family. It is a wonderful place, but unfortunately we had several experiences with different staff members where I felt like they didn’t want us there. I started to feel uncomfortable bringing my kids there (we abided by every rule and were very respectful), but for some reason I kept getting comments on my kids. It was a disheartening shame that they ended a decades long Tigard tradition when they changed their sign.
Update:
Has management tried reaching out to the other businesses in town asking them how they are able to safely have lettered signs? Were digital signs sold out?
It's a shame when shortsightedness prevails over small town traditions

Full disclaimer: I’m a relative newb to bouldering. Done it a while ago.
This location is great! Lots of kids and adults around. They have a good balance between having a lot of routes but also changing them up a fair amount. M
They use a color grading system for their routes which is both good yet tricky.
Day pass discounts are on their IG - but also they sometimes have seasonal discounts - I got my summer pass for around 200 bucks. And since I so a couple times a week, it’s totally worth it!
Well ventilated even though it’s hot outside, it’s decently breezy in here.
Don’t be shy, come check it out!

Not at all a safe place for kids starting out. Kids were climbing up the same wall as my daughter (against the safety video, and made her uncomfortable), hanging out on top, and then coming down whenever they felt like it (also against the safety video). Parents (and kids) weren't wearing masks over their nose, or watching their kids. There was a random shoe in the middle of the floor (a tripping hazard).
I told staff, but there wad only two of then. If there are going to be twenty kids in the kid area, then you need more than two staff for the whole building - both of which were working check-in, not on the floor supervising, and the parents didn't care.

This place is awesome. It has a ton of walls and really tall ceilings so it feels very spread out. They’re open later on weekends than most climbing gyms and had plenty of available time slots (due to covid capacity restrictions).

I love the atmosphere and the space. Really big and feels very open. Friendly staff whom I must praise for working during such uncertain times. Bathrooms are still open and there are masks and handwashing stations. Place is spotless clean. Only a few people allowed at a time. It was really fun having my first climbing day here after the shutdown. I took bus 96 from downtown Portland to Tigard and it was only a 10 min walk to the gym.

Great for kids... until 'those' kids show up. There was no staff supervision of the kid area and it got dangerous.
There were birthday kids running around wild playing tag and throwing things. Parents didn't care and staff was holed up at the front desk instead of supervising.
It's nice to have rules, but enforcement was hallow. Buyer beware.

The second I walked in I knew i'd become a member. This place is awesome. Great vibe, people are nice, staff are great. I had an intro course with Nick just to make sure I wasn't missing any fundamentals - and I learned a lot. That dude is nice. I'm excited every time I come here because I can truly feel the progression each time I climb. Love this place. Can't wait to check out the other locations and ... BEND! When the Bend location opens, you can bet I'll be down to visit.

This place is very large and have lots of wall. I also like the atmosphere kinda lay back and people are nice and friendly. I kinda worry that this gym could be gone because of TriMet thing. Feel very relieved that this place can stay. When I have chance to travel around here, I would like to come back!!

This place is amazing for toddlers. We had a play date here with 2.5-3 year olds on a Tuesday morning and it was perfect. Lots for them to climb, fast slides, a slack line and even a train that passed a few times! I wouldn’t go on a weekend with little ones but during the week was perfect for us to feel safe and like we were able to focus on climbing.

Love this gym! Mornings are the time to go if you want it to yourself, evenings are the time to meet others and learn from the pros. Certain routes get changed weekly which is also very nice. Great for kids as they have a huge kids area with slides as well. Definitely builds confidence and bravery in the little ones!

There's enough space here to handle a crowd. Handholds are everywhere, so no silly too advance route to attempt to try to intimidate the average climber.
Only the young lady behind the counter had the ability to connect to this customer as a person that was here to have fun with his kid. The guys seemed a bit slow on the draw.
The customer service desk is a square slab of concrete that is the right height fir the corner to catch a 5-year-old in the temple as my kid rounded the corner.
Not kid friendly or safe for kids.
The guy behind the counter didn't seem to think that sharp corner was an issue.
