I recently had an assessment with Scott and I found it to be a helpful and enlightening experience. It seems to me a lot of people are taking golf lessons to improve their game when they really need to be working on their body mechanics. It was clear from the feedback Scott gave me that I need to build up my strength and flexibility in order to swing the golf club more effectively. Scott spent over an hour and a half watching how I moved, even videotaping my movements for future reference. He took careful notes on at least 20 different moves. A couple of days later he sent me a detailed list of exercises along with short videos demonstrating the correct way to do each exercise. He uses the TPI program and app created by Titleist as the basis for his instruction, but customizes it to each person who comes in. I felt the money he charges for the service was well worth it. He’s a very knowledgeable, considerate, and engaging guy who clearly enjoys his work and helping people become better golfers. While he offers his service virtually, there’s no doubt that an in person session is helpful and it’s a unique opportunity for people who live in the Portland area to get really targeted expert help. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

I found this gym online and was instantly intrigued. Im an avid golfer, and have always wanted someone to help me find the answers to my swing, and how I can improve my game. Scott Light is the guy you need to see! An hour feels like a minute, and you leave looking forward to the next appointment right away. Aside from making you a better/healthier golfer, Scott is exceptional in teaching you about how your body moves and how to get the most out of any fitness routine. Also just a great guy with stellar facility. I've always been quite active but working with Scott has gotten my body feeling 10 years younger.

Updated- been doing swing lessons with Jim for 3 months and easily best lessons I’ve ever had. The 3D video he uses is super helpful and then he sends you narrated summary of the lesson with stuff to be working on. I’d pay just to talk to him about golf, aside from all the great swing work.

I’m approaching 50, and I’ve decided to give my golf game one final, dedicated push to improve before Father Time and human physiology let me down.

I searched for TPI trainers online and stumbled upon Scott, as his gym is in the neighborhood. At our first meeting/assessment, I told Scott I didn’t have the time or interest in wasting hours at the gym or the range doing things that won’t help me improve.

I’ve been going to The Golf Gym throughout the winter 2023/4. It’s been a great experience. He is young and eager. He’s strong as an ox. He is knowledgeable. He is positive and encouraging. He understands both the mechanics of the golf swing and the human body, and he expects hard work from me as a client.

One more cool thing: he’s got a golf sim in the gym.

We’re still in rainy winter in PDX, but I can’t wait to see the results of all this winter work come golf season 2024 and beyond. I give all credit to Scott. If you’re serious about wanting to get stronger/faster/fitter/better, look no further.

Scott started by analyzing my swing with the K vest and the foresight simulator. The amount of data this collects on the biomechanics of my swing is unlike anything I’ve experienced.
