Looking for a Yoga or Pilates studio, look no further! Everyone at the studio is warm and genuinely dedicated to promoting wellness! I love the instructors at The Practice Space. My favorite is Kimi, who teaches Vinyasa Yoga and Sustainable Strength classes. Each session is unique, and she is always open to any specific body issues or aches before class to incorporate them into her routine. I appreciate the positive vibe from all the teachers, from Hannah to Scarlettβ€”they're all fantastic!

Parking is convenient, with a bus stop right out front, and there are plenty of bike racks, food carts, coffee options, and parks nearby!

Best pilates studio period. I started with pilates here as I felt I was getting injured too often with yoga or at trendy chains. Their instructors are immensely knowledgeable and trained. I find pilates and this studio in particular to be a huge help to managing my scoliosis.

I returned to The Practice Space earlier this summer after a 5+ year hiatus. I'm so so SO happy I did. I came in with a very arthritic, swollen right knee due to many years of running. Months later, my knee is less swollen, stronger and just plain happier! My whole body is stronger through pilates mat, hatha yoga and reformer classes. Krista and all the instructors are fantastic, empathetic and well, fun people to be in community with. I can't recommend Practice Space enough, especially for folks who are looking for different strengthening classes that don't make you feel like you are some inferior workout fanatic.

Incredibly welcoming studio with a wide variety of classes - mat Pilates, equipment Pilates and yoga - at a nice mix of times. The instructors are all incredible.

I could not love a studio more. A calming and beautiful environment with knowledgeable teachers. It is the only place I can find in the entire Portland area that teacher mat pilates classes - and the classes are just excellent. The teachers have a deep understanding of movement and alignment and are so kind and welcoming. I love the speciality classes offered, like folklore yoga or a class that teaches mind/muscle connections. The owner just GETS it. I love this studio!!

Exceptional pilates studio. The instructors really focus on doing the movements correctly, which I appreciate. Lovely, light space, and their membership options are more affordable than other studios in the area. They also have CoreAlign classes, which are hard to find and really amazing pilates equipment.

I started at this studio in July after trying out pilates at home. I’m so glad that I did because it’s changed my perception of working out and movement entirely. The studio is such a calming and welcoming environment with extremely friendly and knowledgeable teachers. the owner is super kind and cares a lot about the staff and the members.

the classes are small enough where you get the attention you need to make sure you have the best form possible. the teachers really take the time to get to know and remember you which adds to the community feeling.

the membership is pricey but well worth it; especially considering how flexible the studio is when you need to pause your membership if you are leaving for vacation or won’t be using your membership for a little while.

if you’re in the fence about joining they even offer two free classes to try it out which is what ultimately led me to join. y’all are the best, thank you for helping me finally find a form of exercise i love.

This is the only place I go for movement classes because: 1. All of the teachers are wonderful! 2. Two convenient locations. 3. Big variety of classes and levels. It truly has everything I look for in a yoga and pilates studio.

I've been going to this studio for two years now. I continue to be amazed by the teachers' knowledge and detailed, personalized instruction... it's miles different from my previous decades in yoga, in terms of detailed functional movement education. It's learning how to use my body in healthy balanced ways. Honestly I never got that from even advanced yoga practice. At Cascadia, I have totally rebuilt my back, hips and shoulders through their kind and diligent attention. I had a lot of pain and weakness when I started in various parts of my body. It's awesome to now be confident that I can cruise through the rest of my life with minimal pain and maximum vitality. As long as I keep up my practice! Also I can't beat the yummy feelings after a class... like I'm happy and floating, gravity really lightens up after a class! Couldn't be happier to be a part of such an intelligent, committed healing movement community.

I was a completely beginner when I started two years ago, and I am so happy to have chosen this studio! I have been going to equipment and mat sessions (2 or 3/week) almost every week since the fall of 2018. The instructors are positive, friendly and fun. They were always able to find the variation that worked for me, so I could improved at my pace, feeling safe in the movements. But the best acknowledge is that my body has improved so dramatically! To name just one change, I couldn't stand longer than half an hour without pain in my low back when I started. Last month I hiked happily for 6 hours without even remember my low back! They taught me to be more aware of my body, correcting bad postures and to use my core muscles to decompress my spine and hips. I will miss this studio and their staff now that I have just moved back to Spain!

I loved going to mat classes at this studio! I was in town for a few weeks house-sitting and had never done pilates before but was curious to try. I'm so glad that I did and that I did so at Cascadia! All the instructors whose classes I attended were friendly, energetic, deeply knowledgeable, and eager to help students progress. I felt comfortable, welcomed, and supported as a newbie. It seemed to me that this is a great space for folks of any age/body type to find positive, challenging work for their level. I learned a lot about my body in just two weeks, and it's clear from the instructors' level of knowledge that there is a lot more I could learn from them. I wished I lived in the area; I would attend regularly if I did!

I had been curious about Cascadia Pilates & Core Align, as I live in the neighborhood and walk by frequently. My only prior experience with Pilates was negative with a large mat class many years ago at a big box gym. By chance, I saw that a six month introductory unlimited membership was being offered at 50% off in the New Year when Yoga Bhoga was merging into the space next door. At the time, I was having some chronic pain from exercise that I knew needed longer term work than outpatient physical therapy and my lax at home discipline could provide. I took a leap of faith / made an impulsive decision, paid the six months up front without ever having taken a class or getting on a Reformer, and haven't looked back! In my almost 6 months at Cascadia Pilates and Core Align, I've taken 100 and counting Reformer and Core Align equipment classes and a small handful of mat classes. I've had class with almost every instructor at the studio and can attest that everybody is fantastic. The instructors are so kind and friendly. Everybody greets you by name when you walk in the door. The teachers genuinely want to help you to feel better and improve your form and function. I felt very welcome from Day 1 even as somebody who was clueless about Pilates and needed A LOT of direction. The equipment classes are small (6 people or less) and there is a lot of hands on attention. The teachers quickly get to know you and your strengths and weaknesses. You get asked before class if there is anything going on in your body that needs attention. There is a lot of gentle guidance, encouragement, and positive reinforcement. I never feel like teachers get frustrated with me when I'm having a hard time with a correction. If you are at all curious about Pilates, this is a very positive and special place. It's worth every penny. Also, my pain is much improved!

A much belated enthusiastic review! Everyone here and the equipment are top-notch. I have tried other Pilates studies, but Cascadia is the best. I've been taking private lessons with Cesa for about a year and she has been awesome.

My second home. All of the instructors are friendly, knowledgeable and fun to work out with. It's in a lovely space with lots of equipment. If you haven't tried Pilates this is the place to go. I was a complete beginner when I started, but with three private sessions a week my body has completely changed! I have muscles in places I never knew I had and I am feeling more and more in alignment. My chronic neck pain has been getting better, too. I normally get bored with workouts after a couple of months but after five months here I still look forward to going. Awesome selection of group classes as well! I cannot recommend this place enough.

After only the first few sessions, the connection I have to my body and the improvement in mobility, strength, and posture is profound. I've had a chance to work with each member of the staff and the focus, attention, and specificity in their approach to training the body is phenomenal. And it's fun! I recommend Cascadia to everyone.

Before my wife started going to a private Pilates class here I never really gave much thought to Pilates. Being a male from Northern Ireland originally I was only really exposed to yoga and it was pretty fringe activity for a long time over there. But seeing the good results my wife had, she encouraged me to go. These ladies are amazing!! I started taking some private sessions and I have achieved mobility back in my shoulder which I thought I would never have which really has made such a big difference to me. It has also improved my core strength and posture greatly. I honestly did not think I would see that much of an improvement going in but I really enjoy my time spent in the studio and the benefits of the workout after

I use to believe in chiropractic, but lost interest when I got in touch with the reality that it wasn't actually helping me. I had a baby about a year ago now and have had pretty gnarly back pain ever since. My shoulders would hurt from baby wearing. Overall I was just hurty and whiny and tired and I worried there was nothing I could do about it because I had tried it all. I tried diet. I tried supplements. I tried massage, chiropractic, yoga, jogging, other exercise, but I wasn't feeling any better. Carpe Diem Pilates is the best decision I could have made!

I have been doing 2 private lessons a week for about 8 weeks. I can definitely say I felt results immediately and other people saw the results enough to comment after maybe the 3rd or 4th lesson. What finally pushed me over the edge in my decision to write this review was that I was getting more and more compliments from people about how straight, and tall, and fit I was looking. Apparently people had been concerned about me being crooked and hunched over and a bit poochy, but never said anything.

What makes Pilates great is that it works with the assumption is that your body is strong and capable, there is nothing wrong with you except that some muscles are just stronger than they need to be (over compensating) and that's pulling your body in funny directions. So Pilates isolates and strengthens the lesser used muscles so the ones that are working too strongly can relax.

At Carpe Diem they have rooms full of these contraptions that could be mistaken for traction and torture devices if the place wasn't so well lit. Once you get to know the machines it's surprising how something so simple can isolate your muscles so well - and make you work so hard! The staff is friendly and accommodating and mega knowledgeable about anatomy and movement.

Basically, Pilates (at least the Pilates that Carpe Diem offers) is about practical, tangible, REAL LIFE results. It's not about feeling better for the moment and then going back to see them again when you hurt again... Pilates is about building your body up. There are no homework assignments except to be conscious of how you hold your body so that you don't fall back into the habits that ended you up in pain in the first place.
For the first time I am able to see realistic goals for myself. In the last 2 months of lessons (pricey, but worth it!) I have found awareness of my core. Do you know where your core is? I thought I did... but let me tell you, I most certainly did not. I am now able to realize that my shoulders are way too strong and I need to consciously work on my "Scapular Wrap" which makes me hold my head straight and up right and not forward. My hips tilt the right direction now. I feel the results and the relief that Pilates has given me multiple times a day, every day!
I look forward to strengthening my "outer leg line" which will hold my knees and ankles better and keep them from collapsing in on themselves. In my opinion, not many fitness regimes can offer this amount of physical awareness and it is empowering to be able to see the results and actually be able to see where I can get myself to! I can see in the future I won't have to be some conscious of how I hold my body because the "muscle memory" will be there and it just happen without having to think about it.

In the interest of managing expectations... Pilates, while it is a physical exercise, works your brain more than your body - especially in the beginning. It's *hard*, mentally hard, to find those muscles because you aren't use to using them. Try it... you'll see what I mean. My body is definitely being worked out, but not so much that I am sore the next day like some workouts. These workouts aren't cardio heavy so you don't get all sweaty and stinky.
