About the Club

Megan Ursin started Training Day PDX as a response to the prevailing culture in big box gyms. She believed that people would be best served with highly skilled, supportive coaching in a compassionate environment free of negative pressure and coercion.
Over the years Training Day has evolved from a single proprietorship into a partnership with several coaches, and wellness practitioners, but our singular focus remains the same.
At Training Day our programming is driven completely by the authentic need of the student. We strive for integrity and inclusion on all levels and treat our clients with respect and dignity. Training Day is a safe space and people from all walks of life are welcome and supported.

Working with Megan has been transformational. Her depth of knowledge about the body and how it moves is incredible, and she explains things in a way that makes everything click. I’m struggling with a shoulder injury, and was a little nervous to return to strength training, but Megan guided me with precision, patience, and so much care. She doesn’t just teach exercises, she teaches why they matter and how to support your body for the long term. I feel stronger, more confident, and more empowered in understanding my own mechanics. I can’t recommend her enough.

I have been training with Carrie to return to weightlifting safely following a surgery. I have never felt stronger or safer! Coaching and cueing is specific and thorough. This gym has a great feel, very caring and professional. The expertise of the trainers and the variety of exercise modalities is great.

I discovered this gym during the pandemic and now my whole family comes here. Carrie is a wonderful trainer, I always appreciate her encouragement and flexibility to adjust exercises when needed. I have felt a difference in my strength, flexibility and energy since I started. The community of the gym is the best I've had in Portland.

I like this place. Good owners, good trainers, good everything. Good music playing, even. Good, good, good, good, good. As it turns out, this much "good" actually makes it "great".

Working with Megan at Training Day has been life changing. Her knowledge of human anatomy and ability to scrutinize and correct form is exceptional. Working with her has helped me achieve my goals of getting rid of my chronic neck pain and headaches while building upper body strength and mass. Highly recommend!

I found Training Day through a friend last year. I had been following Katy Bowman and was longing for a physical place to help me put those ideas into practice. Most specifically to learn to use my hips and not my knees. I am so thankful for the existence of Training Day as I age. This place is amazing for any age as they are awesome at tailoring the exercise to ones needs and abilities. What I have found at this gym is support and guidance to stay injury free, strong, and use my body to move around comfortably in this world. I'm in my 40's and many of my common aches are gone due to corrective exercises as well as strength training. I started coming with a foot injury and was able to work through that and go on to really feel strong in my body. I know I am moving more efficiently and effectively as a result of the coaching both privately and in class by the amazing coaches at Training Day. This place is a great place for anyone looking to build a great foundation in their lifting skills, to rehabilitate after an injury, to maintain strength though out life, the list is endless. Training Day is a great place for ALL bodies!!!

Training Day is the best fitness center I know of in Portland. All the trainers here are very highly educated in Functional Movement and are experts in analyzing and prescribing strength training-based rehab recommendations. I have been going here for almost 2 years and love it!
I also recommend this place to my patients very frequently, as they are wanting to get back into exercise and/or be monitored during their exercise to make sure that they are doing everything safely and correctly, and this is the only place that has my 100% confidence that they will deliver.
