I’ve been working with Salwa for just over a month now and I’m already seeing a huge difference! I have always wanted to learn how to use kettlebells and she’s been fantastic with teaching me the basics and proper form to help me feel confident with what I am doing and to ensure I won’t injure myself. I’ve been working with Lindsay at Vive for just under a year, and I can’t say enough good things about her! I always look forward to our morning sessions because of her positivity and encouragement. Lindsay is not only incredibly nice but also truly supportive, which made all the difference as I started my fitness journey from scratch.

When I first began, I felt completely out of my element, but Lindsay’s guidance and uplifting attitude helped me build confidence and develop skills I never thought I’d have. Logan has been a great personal trainer, he keeps track of the weights and and exercises you do and sends them to you, he's been helping me with my grip strength and switching routines when my grip is failing, and has been making it really easy to understand form/hand positions during our training. I have been training with Carlee at Vive Fitness for exactly a year & I recommend both without hesitation. As an introvert with no workout experience the thought of going to a gym always terrified me & I appreciate that Vive is a private, trainer-only gym (there are group classes in the space below as well) and no randos are ever there to make me uncomfortable or wander into my space. Vive is full of all the equipment you could ever want, and everything is kept sparkling clean by all the trainers, who are dedicated professionals with hearts of gold.

Carlee is a bright shining light & a powerhouse of motivation. Heavily certified and highly knowledgeable, Carlee is just as adept at training for functional strength or bodybuilding, depending on the needs of each individual client...and she always remembers to counts the reps, which I never do. Aside from all of her technical proficiency, she never fails to be positive, supportive and funny, all of which is just as important to keep me motivated, showing up and putting in the work that I sometimes hate to do. So this is not a typical gym. More like a personal trainer co-op so you access it through whoever you're training with. The fitness area is spacious, well ventilated, and not crowded with plenty of equipment for all the trainers. I have not done the yoga classes in the downstairs area so I can't comment on that.

I have typed this review out about 15 times only to feel like it is too long and delete it, so here’s the most succinct I could be.

The gym: the space is amazing. Large, open, super clean, and all the gear you could hope for. As someone else mentioned, this is a gym where you can work one on one with a trainer or take classes but it’s not a walk-in situation with open machines. This honestly makes me feel way more comfortable and keeps the vibe closer to a hangout. I see many of the same folks each time I go in and it’s really cool to see everyone else’s training styles and some super impressive moves.

The trainer: I work with Laura D and have been for almost five years now. She is truly phenomenal. I went in apprehensive that the trainers might all be super intense, probably from watching too many movies, but she was incredibly kind and non-judgmental about my pretty simple goals. Over time, she has always worked with me to update those goals depending on what is going on in my life. She pushes me without being mean and makes sure that everything is done safely and correctly. I never thought I would be someone with a trainer and now I can’t imagine it any other way!

I have been working out with Jeremy Currie at Vive for quite some time and all through the pandemic as allowed. Never had any concerns with safety or sanitation. Their protocols are thoughtful and consistent. Everyone is super friendly and the overall vibe is really neutral, meaning it seems like a place for everyone.

I cant say enough positive things about Jeremy. He is super knowledgeable, patient, kind, motivating, clearly loves what he does. I have had back/neck issues for a long time and seen dozens of physical therapist and a handful of trainers. None compare. I'm in my mid 40s and have never felt more confident. I feel like I learn something new about my body and how to move every week from Jeremy.

I started taking the Boxing class with Molly this Fall and it has been an awesome experience. The renovated basement space at Vive is spacious and well organized. There is plenty of room to spread out, enough boxing bags for everyone to participate and a wide open, mirrored studio area to hit the floor on mats for core and strength exercises. It's a high intensity, fierce, full body workout that leaves me feeling energized, stronger and more agile. Highly recommend Vive for their classes, their training and their incredible space.

I love Zach he has been my trainer for several years. I started with a basic training at 73 years old. I needed to improve my balance, streghten my core and do cardio. Zach is very flexible, I mean that when I come in to him and, I have had an injury or in one case a stroke, he changes the plan he made for me so we can continue working at what ever level i need. My doctors are impressed with his handeling of the stroke problems. Each said they had never heard of a trainer who addressed the issues he did and with tremendos sucess. I am very happy to have made so much progress with Zach's help. At 75 I now have good blance, can safely lift gardening pots and get up easily from a keeling position. I lift weights and continue to improve on my moblity, lifting, flexiblity, blance, and engage in mind improving co-ordination. I highly reccomend Zach as a trainer. The gym is clean, spacious and has lots of equipment.

I’ve been working with Laura DeVine for about 5 years, and I recommend her 100%.. She listened to what I was looking for and customized the workout to what I wanted when I first started at Vive. I’ve become a much more active person working with Laura, which was one of my goals. She’s helped me identify my goals and developed my training to meet those goals. Besides the weekly sessions, she encourages me in other areas that I’m working on, such as eating well and getting better at golf.

Vive is a great space in Hollywood. There’s lots of parking right by the gym. The space is open with lots of windows and skylights, but you don’t feel like you’re on display. The facilities and equipment are new and well-maintained, and the space feels great!

I've been working out with Adam Richards for almost 4 years now. He is unfalteringly professional, and not only does he put his training in exercise physiology to good use, but he is endlessly curious about all things health-related, and is constantly learning new things and is excited to share them with his clients. In fact, I enjoy working with him so much that I followed him to Vive, sight unseen, when he began working here. As it turns out, Vive is the perfect gym: unpretentious, spotlessly clean, good equipment, small but adequately spacious, and with PARKING! The trainers are all super friendly, and the clientele ranges from the elite athlete to the little old grandma - it's very inclusive here because it's about taking charge of your health, wherever you might be in your fitness journey.

I’ve been working out with Evan at Vive Fitness for over three years now, so this review is WAY overdue. I started back in the old location, and since moving to the current awesome space it has become a thriving environment with many trainers and clients adding to the positive vibe….. including music of course.

I can easily say that my workouts with Evan are among my favorite times of the week. I arrive and have no other obligation than to focus on the workout at hand…. Evan is always ready with a challenging, varied workout appropriate for me. He listens to what is going on with my body and accommodates/ adjusts my workout as needed, along with making physical and dietary recommendations to help going forward.

I first tried VIVE in 2016 on a Groupon, I was new to the city and was trying different gyms. After a week with them I looked no further! I do the group classes w Kaitlyn, Laura, and Evan. All three trainers have a unique style which keeps things interesting.

The new bigger gym space is super clean and organized, even after all the covid restrictions they made it safe and easy to work out in.

Kaitlyn has a great energy and modifies any work out to fit an injury or skill level; I’ve brought friends and even my parents from out of town to join me, all of different skill levels. She also notices my strength ability and pushes me to try the progression of an exercise over time, feels like a one on one trainer even in a group setting.

The overall vibe is comfortable and welcoming which is not found at most gyms- you can feel they actually care about you and your success when you walk through the doors. For someone who hates going to box gyms and likes to work out with a coach I am so happy I found vive when I came to PDX!! Stoked they are still around after the mess of 2020! Thanks!

I love going to Vive Fitness because it's a really well-rounded place with lots of options and some form of exercise for everyone. I train with Ashley for strength/lifting and Molly for her boxing conditioning classes- they're both really qualified and knowledgeable and I love that I can diversify my workout routine throughout the week. I train with Zach Ovall. The facility is well-maintained and is tailored to personal trainers and their clients. Zach is very knowledgeable in personal training, especially about avoiding injuries. He his all about proper technique, which for me as a type A senior with a history of athletic injuries is necessary. I’ve worked with him for a couple years and enjoy working with him. During Covid shutdown, he created a home workout program, which we modified with in person/ at home, now that restriction are loosening. I’ve experienced noticeable strength improvement and stamina improvements over this time.

Pete is the best personal trainer! I’ve known him for more than a decade when he was an assistant coach of my collegiate soccer team. I train with Pete Fuller, who I highly recommend. He has experience as an athlete and Physical therapy assistant, and this has allowed me to really regained and progressed in my strength while healing from healing from an injury. He also has great fad jokes and is a very upbeat person :) Gym is very clean and COVID-19 safe/ sanitized. Never have had an issue w parking, ample spots in the lot behind the gym. All the staff is very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Added bonus- great vegan smoothie / snack shop, Whole Foods/Trader Joe’s, and other convenient places for other errands near by.

Excellent COVID protocols. This is the cleanest gym I've ever been in. The trainers meet you at the door and, after washing your hands, escort you to your own workout space cordoned off with green tape. There's never more than a few others in the gym at any one time, and the floors/equipment are cleaned frequently.

The gym also has ample parking in a separate parking lot and an entire downstairs space that clients can often have all to themselves; heavy bags and other martial arts equipment, and plenty of the latest fitness "toys" like Stretching Sticks, steel maces, vibrating foam rollers, and massage guns.

I train with with Evan. He is the quintessential trainer. He's attentive to detail, dedicated (he was willing to see me at 5 AM to accommodate my busy schedule), and competent. He communicates the nuances of each exercise in ways that deepen my understanding of what I'm doing, and provides clear instructions without overdoing it. His routines are simple, yet effective, and never boring.

Evan has been working wonders in rehabbing my chronic back/hip injury. He started off by asking insightful questions about the injury so that he could tailor each session to my needs. I've had other trainers injure me in the past, but I don't worry about that at all with him. I can tell that my well-being is his top priority, and I trust him. He's clearly passionate about what he does. I would highly recommend training at Vive fitness. If Evan is available I would definitely recommend training with him.

By far my favorite gym I’ve come across in Portland. My trainer Evan is extremely motivating, and has a ton of knowledge to pass on. The gym has all the equipment I’ve ever needed for any type of workout I’m feeling, and I always feel safe there because they do a great job keeping it very clean! I've been training once a week at Vive since August 2017. This place is awesome. I'm currently training under Evan, who is an amazing trainer. I joined Vive as an supplement to my martial arts training, and they've been very accommodating to helping me meet my goals. My workouts are all functional training related, using a variety of gear available in the facility to help me become less injury prone. I love both training and talking with Evan about exercises, progressions, regressions, etc. If you want trainers who know their stuff and will help you reach your goals then go to Vive. They've got kettlebells, barbells, dumbbells, sandbags, steel maces, etc. This is not your big box gym feel. It's intimate, and the routines focus on getting you moving correctly so you're actually fit and strong.

My friend and I were visiting from California and wanted a quick effective and affordable workout to start our mornings. The 9am Bootcamp classes were perfectly complete workout and extremely convenient. Evan and Amy gave excellent form cues and helped motivate everyone in the group. They were able to cater to all fitness levels and made the workout difficult for each person. I have recommended this place to my friends living in Portland and highly recommend anyone wanting to try a new place to give this one a try.
