Serious Safety Concern Ignored

I’m writing this review in hopes ACAC finally takes action. There is an interior door in the dance studio that leads directly to the pool area. It has a simple lock that can easily be opened or left unlocked—as it was yesterday. This dance studio is connected to the kids’ gym where children play while their parents work out. I’ve reported this issue multiple times and asked that the door be permanently secured, but management has yet to address it. This is a serious safety risk and a tragedy waiting to happen. Please fix it before it’s too late.

I have been a member of ACAC twice now. The first time is when my children were young and they attended summer day camp at ACAC. My son also took karate lessons, back when Magnus Karate used to be housed within ACAC. It has since moved to a separate dojo in West Chester. I also used the spa regularly, met several times with the dietitian, used the PREP area (physician recommended exercise program), took barre and Pilates classes, and worked out with a personal trainer. My son also attended school from ACAC during the pandemic (just to get him out of the house and with 3-dimensional people). I quit the gym when we had to tighten our belts, but rejoined back in September 2024, during the monthly special of 30 days for $30. I didn't realize how much I missed my friends from ACAC, as we would meet once a month for "free friend Friday" to walk together. The staff at the front desk is amazing and always welcoming, the equipment is constantly being cleaned, and the housekeeping staff keeps clean towels stocked at all times. One of my favorite traditions is the Halloween decorated pumpkin contest, where different departments decorate pumpkins cleverly, and the members get to vote on them. I also love when they decorate the doors for Christmas!! Awesome gym!!!!!!! Love it!!!!!!!

It was a long time coming for me getting back to the gym. Their services and amenities are incredible. Very clean, very well staffed, hardly ever feels crowded. They have a wide range of skill levels, ages, diversity, etc, where no one will feel out of place. I can very comfortably work out and not feel at all like I'm being judged. Perfect club to get back onto your fitness journey.

Unless there's machines I couldn't find? There's very limited workout equipment. For over $100 a month I expected a lot better. Very crowded. Some of the machines were damaged. Looks more like a place where teenagers from rich families hang out.

If you're looking to workout, there are far better places for far less money.

It seems to be more of a "family health facility" than a gym.

Great instructors but app is not consistently working properly which is very frustrating. There should be more low impact classes such as an aerobic/strength class and slower moving (with more repetitive steps) aerobic classes. Those classes are mostly very fast moving with few repetitive moves lead by instructors that move very quickly and are difficult to follow especially if you aren’t familiar with the dances.

Acac recently took over club La maison in Stratford . We have been members there for 40 years and have love the club. Our membership is paid up till October , but acac has told us to be out June 30.why would they not honor our membership for the year!’ I would never be a part of this crocked company, no matter what they have to offer. How can you treat people that way, who have been there so long!

Update: after yesterday I would give this place 6 stars. There was an issue with our swim instructor to where they couldn't make it in yesterday, not a big deal it happens. I come here for the swimming and sauna mostly, so I have yet to explore the gym itself (but will in due time). I’ve found it great for swimming, albeit the pool is warmer than I’d like as a faster swimmer doing workouts. Thankfully, with six lanes i’ve had no issues finding a lane with the exception of perhaps one or two times. For context, i’ve been going six times a week for the last three to four weeks. Locker rooms are great as well. My only complaint is that there’s been a couple of instances where a swim team showed up that I wasn’t aware of; one of them was my fault as it shows in the lap pool schedule that the swim team starts at 5 PM but the other time was on a Friday at 11 AM which I found confusing. A bit annoying but overall things have been great!

The club itself has a lot of good things but I had a bad experience with a rude house cleaner and upper management has shown a complete disregard for my complaint. My husband and I joined ACAC 2 months ago, and I’ve been to the WC ACAC barely 7 times when I was screamed at by a raging house cleaner because I accidentally dropped a towel on the floor. She tried to force me to use the towel when I put in the dirty hamper and came rushing and pointing her finger at me yelling at me to respect house keeping. I was startled and taken aback by the disrespect, and I was so scared because I didn’t see her coming. I talked to the manager on duty that night and he didn’t do anything, he said he wasn’t there, therefore he can’t take a stand. He did try to mediate and talk to her, but as soon as she saw me she said “i will no apologize” and was acting erratically…all of that because I took 2 towels and one of them fell on the floor which I put in the dirty hamper! I left crying at the way I was treated. Then I came back the next morning to talk to higher management, the manager on duty was nice and promised he would talk to his manager that afternoon since he had a meeting with him and get back to me. It’s been 2 weeks and I haven’t heard anything from them. I even called and left a message. I froze our membership for 2 weeks to give ACAC a chance to resolve this issue. Terrible experience, complete disregard to their members especially that we are are new members and paid the whole year in advance. We’re disappointed .

I’m pretty happy here, I lift and swim laps almost every day. Pools are in great shape and locker rooms are clean. Weight room has a lot of squat racks and even some specialty equipment like hex bars. My only gripe is that there seems to be a lack of weight equipment for the number of people that come (only one barbell bench, no incline bench, only one lat pull-down, etc) so it gets crowded even in the early morning. Great gym otherwise

Best investment ever! Like some other reviewers said, this club is more than just a place to exercise, it's a whole experience! It's clean, spacious, and even on a busy day (think New Year's resolutions crowd) you can find room to exercise. I mostly go to swim and, even with the many group classes and swim team practices, the schedule is managed well and the staff always try to accommodate lap swimmers. My daughter is on the swim team and loves her coaches. The club staff are always friendly and professional and the cafe food is fresh. If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to build some kind of online community space like a Facebook group or a forum where members can interact with one another, support each other and find exercise buddies.

I signed up & paid for the PREP (physician referred exercise program @ WC location) the cost, was $60 for 60 days. I had the initial (lengthly) assessment/evaluation appointment with Kim (head of PREP)
I was told I could bring my 11 & 13 yr old grandchildren (who reside with me) while I did my exercise PREP program. Kim explained that I could pay the guest fee and the children could swim while I worked out Unfortunately that was not the case. After the fact, I found out I could not bring the children since they were not on my "membership" and was allowed only one paying guest.. Very misleading. I ended up not going to the PREP program since I could not bring my grandchildren. I sent an email explaining the disappointment and how it was a waste of my time and money. No reply from ACAC.

I've decided to change my review slightly. It won't be the book that it was previously but a few things still remain the same in regards to my level of comfort here. The GM of this location contacted me directly and I had a very good conversation with her. She was polite and intelligent, and I respect her position. Many of the mask and distancing mandates they enact are a result of a number of issues that can't be worked around; so although I dislike some of them, I do realize they can't do much about them. My level of comfort about the mask policy here still makes me uneasy, but I don't think too much can be done about their policy as it is within STATE guidelines. It's obviously not ACAC's fault if there's ambiguity between state and CDC guidelines, and as I understand it, they have to uphold the state guidelines due to some unique relationships with local medical and rehabilitative practices.
