We are open for in studio classes and live stream classes as well. Masks are optional for all in person classes, and private and massage services.
We specialize in an older population of students and welcome beginner of all ages in our classes. We meet clients where there are and are well versed in adapting poses for each student's needs. Especially good if you have an injury or are coming back to yoga from an injury.

We have been in regular private family yoga with Denise at Balanced for Life since the pandemic started. Denise's training in physical therapy and yoga (and her experiences as a Mom) makes it a treat every week to meet together, now in the studio. Our practice is fun and targeted on body parts that need work. Denise has come to know us well and keeps us moving and working in a caring way. It is one of our family blessings that Denise is in our lives and continues to support us.

Denise has a wealth on knowledge about the human body and how to use physical therapy and adjustments to address anything having to do with the body. The sessions were amazing and the homework she gave me continued to address the issues between sessions.
I would highly recommend planing to work with Denise over a few sessions to address any issues you may have with your body.

Denise has helped me with various body pains caused by muscle tension and incorrect posture. I initially sought her services to help with back spasms resulting from muscle tightness and sitting at a desk for hours at a time. She was able to help work out the knots through skilled massage technique, as well as give me instructions for how to stretch and hold myself to avoid future injury. I have continued to go back to help with pain resulting from holding tension in my muscles. Denise not only helps alleviate pain during the session but follows up to ensure I am feeling good after each session. Denise stands out not only in her skilled massage techniques and vast knowledge of muscular system but in her ability to use empathy and compassion within her work. She takes a person centered approach that looks at the whole picture, not just the presenting problem.

Like many overweight middle-aged women, I suffer from constant hip and lower back pain. After trying physical therapists, acupuncture, & stretching, I signed up for Thai Massage Therapy with Denise. After a couple of sessions, I felt SO MUCH BETTER! My back & hip pain is no longer constant, in fact I am pain-free 90% of the time! If the pain starts up again it isn't nearly as bad. Denise gave me home exercises to do & even came out to my car to make sure the seat positioning was correct for my back/hips. Honestly I haven't felt this good in a long time. I highly recommend it, even if you aren't in pain!

I have been going to Denise and Balanced for Life Yoga for 10 years. Denise has been instrumental in supporting me to have stronger body awareness and in learning yoga poses and exercises to care for myself and to get stronger. I recently experienced a neck injury, and Deniseβs skill with Thai massage, knowledge of the muscles, bones, nerves, and miofascial release has lead to a major improvement at each stage of my recovery. A friend referred me to Denise about 6 months ago to help with my recovery after a broken clavicle. At our session, we spoke about my issues and needs and then Denise worked on me using Thai massage and other physical therapy techniques. I was so impressed with her personal approach, knowledge and how what she did really helped. My range of motion improved and the effects of the massage were long lasting. Denise also gave me stretches I could do on my own. My expectation is to continue monthly Thai massages with Denise. I highly recommend Denise as a practitioner.

I was pretty busted, trying to walk into Denise's studio. I've always dealt with lower back pain. I've seen all kinds of chiropractors and non evasive approach. I've made the most progress since seeing Denise. For the first time I felt heard. She has such an intuitive approach. I follow her direction and do my homework in between visits. I improve every week and feel better than I have in quite some time.

I have been seeing Denise for close to 10 years now. I have taken several of her yoga classes and Thai yoga bodywork sessions, and leave every time feeling refreshed both physically and mentally. As a long-time runner I often encounter knee pain and Denise helps to realign my body and stretch out sore spots that I otherwise can't reach on my own. She is terrific, you won't be disappointed!

In the middle of sessions I will often say, "You are a magician." And this is not because I'm just so relaxed and dreamy. It's because she's masterful in what she knows, how she intuitively senses what's happening in the body, how she brings it with such care, respect, and listening. Denise is one of those extraordinary 'real deals' that are rarely found in a world of newbies.
The freedom in my body has increased exponentially. I can move without pain. I am more flexible and nimble. I listen more fully to my body now. And it's because she is able to bring very tangible know-how about the body along with the art of bodywork.
She studies, she works to broaden her own craft, she lives what she teaches ... truly, I have been doing some form of body work for 40 years and she is in the upper echelon ... in my local area, she has no peers.

I have been a weekly client of Denise for several months. I am 60, have a new diagnosis of osteoporosis and am a fall risk because of the tightness in my quads and calves; I have degenerative joint disease in my neck with associated radiating pain. Denise spends a lot of time during my sessions stretching my legs. I am amazed how quickly she has been able to increase my range of motion that did not occur during a 2-3 month round of physical therapy. Since seeing Denise, it is rare that my neck bothers me. She consistently works on my neck muscles to stretch them and relieve the chronic tension I carry in them that contributes to my pain. To be free of pain is a gift that has no words. Denise is truly a body healer. I look forward to my sessions, the comforting care I receive and the found youthfulness I experience after my sessions. I recommend Denise with great enthusiasm.

Denise was amazing! My lower back was in such bad shape that I NEEDED major help. Denise was patient, asked me lots of questions, and made sure I was comfortable throughout our session. During the session Denise provided some much needed therapeutic massage. By the end of the session Denise was able to provide me with insightful diagnostic information and prescribed a short exercise routine that has helped me remain pain-free. Iβm not (yet : ) much of a visual/spatial learner but Denise patiently went over the exercises with me multiple times until we were both confident I could do them independently. Four years ago I started looking for a yoga studio, and chose Balanced For Life because Denise is a licensed physical therapist. Regular PT was not helping my back issues, and I needed to improve my balance and posture due to adult-onset scoliosis. Class sizes are small and there is plenty of personal attention to each studentβs individual needs. Denise offers suggestions if a modification is needed due to physical limitations, and she is always watching if we need to make corrections. She shares her vast knowledge of body dynamics , so we learn just what muscle-groups are being used for each pose. The studio offers a variety of classes for different interests, and there is even a community outreach offered. The staff is always welcoming and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

As a student and a teacher, my experience at B4L over the last several years have been delightful. All the teachers are very knowledgeable, welcoming and caring. Iβm new to the studio and I love the space. Itβs small, only fits about 8 students per class so personal attention to your poses is a given. Denise is warm and funny and super welcoming. The classes vary in style, often dictated by what students want or need so it never feels like the same old routine. Itβs just a great spot!

I love this yoga studio for the variety of classes, workshops, massage - body work and its friendly and knowledgeable staff. The staff offer their knowledge of the human body coupled with creative classes from meditation to core strengthening. I have never gone to a class without being greeted warmly, learned something new and left fellinβ fine. Highly recommended for beginners and beyond.

Comparatively speaking, I'm just starting yoga and I could not be more pleased that I started this adventure here at BFL. Denise and Jen are awesome and I love that they watch us and give me the gentle corrections I need and just the right amount of push! My husband joins me now on Monday nights and that's our date night. It's been such a great addition to our busy schedules and we highly recommend BFL not only for the instructors but also for the cozy space and welcoming nature of the instructors.

I have only been going to Balanced for Life Yoga for a short time, but have been practicing yoga for thirty years and also teach Pilates. I thoroughly enjoy Denise's teaching style and respect her level of knowledge about functional movement. She has a great eye for what a body needs and how to adjust accordingly. I first started yoga here after an accident and shoulder surgery and could tell immediately that Denise knew how to help me take care of my body, including my healing shoulder.
Thai massage is also a great experience with Denise. While the session is enjoyable, the real benefit is walking out aligned and more knowledgeable about what's going on in my body.
