The 200 hour yoga teacher training was beyond my expectations. My initial goals at registration were to deepen my practice and learn more about yoga history. I completed the program with much more: better sense of myself, increased confidence, and feeling more grounded. This comprehensive curriculum lends itself to self-inquiry and personal transformation. I learned a vast amount of knowledge from anatomy & physiology to subtle body components and many things in between. I was impressed with the detailed instruction and guest presenters. Sarah is a gifted teacher who models the essence of a true yoga practice with passion and real expertise. I graduated well prepared to teach sequences and poses, but this is much more than yoga teacher training. It is a life-changing experience that has helped me alter the way I approach life.

It’s rare that I feel strongly enough about anything, to feel compelled to sit down and write about it, but lately I’ve been overcome with gratitude for this local business.

In 2016, I was rear ended on the highway by a truck going 50 mph.
I unfortunately suffered a traumatic whiplash injury, and have been told by several orthopedic doctors over the years that my neck may never feel the same again. But as someone who recognizes the importance of maintaining a healthy body for a lifetime, I vowed to myself that I would never give up trying to heal.

As someone who intends to keep personal training as a full time career (for now), this was a crushing blow. And over the years, I’ve sought treatment from acupuncture, regular massage therapy, pain management doctors, physical therapy (which all helped substantially), but I never felt 100% healed.

Since I was in college, strength training has been the main focus of my weekly exercise routine and my #1 priority. It has made me feel strong and capable of anything. But 6 months ago, I decided to give yoga a shot. I’ve always enjoyed occasional yoga classes, but never committed to practicing on a regular basis. So I began, anywhere from 2-4 times a week.

Enter Sarah Hummel. The owner and instructor at Be Yoga. Sarah’s class was one of the first ones I decided to try out. I was instantly impressed with her calm demeanor, and simple, direct cueing throughout the flow of practice. She always speaks to the class from her heart, never planned. She finds different ways to challenge us in every. single. class. and she can make you burst out laughing at any moment with her brutal, yet very real honesty about family, life…really anything.

When I first started, I had to modify the movements and poses. A lot. It was humbling. But for me, (aside from making slow progress and building strength), yoga quickly became the equivalent of what some people think of as church, daily meditation, or a safe space. I continue to practice regularly, and know that I will for the rest of my life.

Although I’m still not 100%, I will forever be grateful to Sarah, Be Yoga studio, and all of her wonderful teachers for giving me the push to get a little bit closer to getting there.

This studio is gorgeous and attached to a smoothie bar which is great. I came here as an experienced yoga student, but to me this wasn’t really ‘yoga’, it was more high intensity power yoga. I usually don’t mind heated classes but the heaters were along one side of the wall creating a much hotter side of the room. A few times I really felt I might pass out. Not for me, but if you’re into that it’s a good space!

All the instructors are very welcoming & helpful offering different position options for all yoga levels. Every class I have attended has been completely unlike the last one and I leave relaxed & refreshed. The heat level is perfect. I purchased the 30 days for $30 new package for new clients and after the first class, I knew this was the studio for me!

Amazing yoga oakmont is by far my favorite yoga studio! They have a beautiful brand new space and even better staff. I felt welcome the minute I walked in the door a year ago. I have a disability that I quite literally wear on my sleeve and not one person at the studio has ever questioned me about it. Being that it’s not my favorite part of myself, this means the absolute world to me. Amazing workout for your mind/body and even more amazing people!!

Amazing Yoga Oakmont is top-notch! I fell in love with Bikram yoga when we lived in Mt. Lebanon, and was at a loss when we moved to Fox Chapel; and the closest studio was in Lawrenceville. When I walked into Amazing Yoga Oakmont, I knew I had found my new “home.” This studio is truly the essence of community. Sarah Hummel, the owner, is the best yoga instructor I’ve ever experienced. She challenges you both physically and mentally. Her team of instructors are all equally incredible. I never have to search their schedule to find who appeals to me, because I know, without a doubt, every time I hit the mat in their studio, the time I’ve devoted will be rewarding on so many levels!

You have to try this studio - If you are new to yoga or a seasoned yogi this studio has the best instructors and a great atmosphere. I was new to bikram yoga when I started 2 years ago but I'm addicted now and my body has never looked or felt better. I'm so grateful this studio opened near me. Go there!

This is HANDS DOWN the best yoga studio in the Greater Pittsburgh area for heated power vinyasa flow. Sarah Hummel, the owner, is an outstanding, motivating instructor (and stellar human) who challenges me each class to push myself to my limits but be kind to my body. Although her classes are difficult, they truly are for all levels, as she offers a variety of modifications to suit new students, advanced yogis, and everyone in between. Moreover, the vibe is definitely non-judgmental (read: no one cares if you are gracefully transitioning from one pose to another or faceplanting half the time). As an added bonus, despite the amount of sweating that takes place there, the studio is immaculate. If you live in the city as I do, it's worth the drive (15-20 minutes from Shadyside but ample free parking in front of the studio upon your arrival); if you live in the Greater Oakmont area, you have no excuse. Give it a try!

High intensity "workout"yoga. Not my speed, but really liked some instructors. Long narrow room, heaters along one side on the ceiling.

I always feel so welcomed by the staff and they know how to give you a good workout. Some days I may need to just sweat and some days I may need to be more in tune with my body and try new things. Somehow they always manage to tap in to both aspects! I feel much stronger since I started attending this studio mentally and physically.

I feel so blessed to have an "amazing yoga" studio in the Oakmont community. Living in Aspinwall I can get to AY Oakmont in 10 minutes and have free, effortless parking. The studio is super clean and the teachers are wonderful. All around an "amazing" experience!

So happy to have this yoga studio in my neighborhood!! I've done yoga a few times in the past, but never consistently. When AYO opened up, I decided to give it a try, and I'm so happy I did. The instructors are helpful, positive, and kind. As someone who didn't really know much about yoga, I found that I was able to pick up on poses and cues within a few classes. The heated studio will really make you sweat, and after only a month of classes, I can already feel stronger! I would highly recommend anyone interested in yoga - at any level - to give AYO a try!

As an avid runner, yoga always seemed "scary." I was never a fan of group exercise...that is until I stepped foot in AYO! Sarah is an amazing and inspiring teacher!

AYO is the BEST practice out there. You get your cardio in all while toning and lifting. You leave feeling accomplished knowing you were challenged for every minute of class.

Needless to say, I highly recommend!

Sweat it out and let it go!
