Not a good experience for the price I pay, never have any courts to play basketball ever time I come here. Don’t waste your money, why have basketball courts if you don’t let kids play and have there time after school

this ymca is NOT worth the money. i come to play basketball and the gyms are rarley open, 75% of the time pickleball has both gyms. many other things are also closed. very rude manager

Unless you want to get access to the lane pool or group fitness schedules, its not worth the money. Some staff were standoffish or unhelpful when i had questions or concerns. The gym has a lot of equipment, but much of it is worn out. And they don't really manage the gym bros who slam weights and grunt like apes. It's an older facility, and while they do take care of it, the wear and tear still shows. So if you want a plain gym experience, i'd recommend Planet Fitness or some other small gym for less than half the price.

Edit: changed it to two stars because they really do have a good pool and programs. It is worth at least trying a day pass if you're interested.

Most of the day care ppl don't care about the kids, I have seen some of them yelling at the kids, neglected and not supervised.
Rules change all the time and some r not making sense. I'm disappointed in the care my kids receive, there is bullying going on but since they don't watch the kids closely nothing get don't or if the kids defend themselves they get in trouble.

Not the best YMCA I’ve been to, but it’s up there. The pool albeit a bit smaller than most Y pools is well maintained, as well as their locker rooms. The gym is fine with equipment. The courts are also fine. I think this one is great, just not the best.

EDITED: after being at this Y for six months now, my review below still stands. My only big complaint is the music choice blasting in the women’s health center the past several weeks. Classic Rock would be fine, but whatever station they are on plays darker songs with depressing lyrical content.

My main goal is relaxation in the whirlpool then meditate in the steam room but it’s a bummer to go back into locker room and hear “Running With the Devil” blasting in my ears at a Christian association.

I’m moving to Cranberry soon so it won’t be a problem for me soon.

The staff are wonderful, especially the cheery woman who cleans the Y … she’s a delight.

Original Review: I love the Butler YMCA! I go between the Cranberry Y and Butler Y but prefer Butler (even though I love the big track in Cranberry) and consider it my “home gym” as it’s close by, fabulous and caring staff, clean facilities, friendly members, a warm locker room and I especially love the dry sauna and steam room in the woman’s health center. I’m healing from adrenal fatigue after a move back home from across the country and healing quickly attending the gym 4 days a week for a walk and a soak in the saunas. Thank you!

every single time i come in the basketball courts are taken by pickle ball players. you’d think basketball courts would be used for basketball especially after school hours when high schoolers try to come practice.

Wow. Trying to provide a gift membership and it's like pulling teeth. You'd think the Y would extend themselves to try to drive membership. Not so. Four calls before I reach a human. Then, told I'll have to come in personally. I'm an hour and a half away. I guess I expected the great service I get at my local Y to extend to all in the region.

I just learned today that I am not permitted to sign up for more than 1 aquatic class per day at the Butler YMCA. I also learned that I cannot call in to sign up for a class. These rule changes were not posted nor announced. Apparently I am expected to drive to the Y from whatever part of this large county that I live in just to sign up for 1 class. I think this Y needs to come into the technological age in which we live today and develop online sign in. While I was expressing my disagreement with these restrictive policies for paying members, the desk clerk turned his back on me and started talking to someone else , ignoring me entirely. When I asked for a comment card, I was directed down the hall to get one. There were none. So the desk clerk took some down the hall to place them. Instead of handing me a card across the desk, I asked him if he was going to make me go down the hall again to get one. His reply with attitude was that he was not making me do anything. I like the warm pool. But the restrictions and attitude I can do without.

I would love to know how this place stays in business I have called for weeks about getting my kids in to swim and the pool is always closed and the day the told me it would be open I show up and it’s still closed. I also called about setting up a birthday party and they wanted us to be members to use the pool but would offer a room. This y is a joke we will travel outside of butler from now on it isn’t what it was when I was a kid

A great place to work out. I love the classes. Everyone is friendly and no one care what level you are at. The instructors always offer modifications for each fitness level. My autistic son has also really enjoyed group swimming lessons. Patrick is great with him.

If your looking for childcare you have found the right place. I will never forgot what the butler YMCA has done for my family. They went way out of there way to make sure all 3 of my kids where taken care of.

I remember when I first started looking for daycares after my ex ran off to Ohio. I'm pritty sure I called every place in south butler district and no one had room or the staff because of covid. I was already off work for about 3 months when my ex case worker told me about the Butler YMCA.

I figured why not tryed everywhere else. Well when kelly answered the phone and told me she would figured out a way to get all 3 of my kids in there daycare program so I could get back to work I was shocked and relieved.

I remember the first day of me dropping off the kids there I was really nervous. My kids never been to a daycare and there mom just left them would they think I was leaving them at the daycare. Well the first day was hardest for me leaving them and hearing them cry but there staff handled it like a expert.

as the days went on my kids got into the new flow of things the boys could be a lot to handle at times my one son is autistic but between his help with BHS and the staff of the ymca i dont think river would be how he is today. He as improved more then I thought was possable in a short period of time. I honestly could never thank both of his teachers enough for treating him like family and helping him the way they did. My daughter will always have so meny great memory's of this place and even thow she loves her new room she is sad we moved out of butler county. My other son loved going here. they where a huge part of his potty training and they always tried to help him in anyway they could even going above and beyond my expectations with all 3 kids.

All 3 of my kids will never forget the YMCA and the most difficult part of moving into a house was leaving this place behind I was even Question if I should turn down the house offer so they could stay.

like I said if your looking for childcare this is the place you want. they will treat your kids like there own families. They will go out of there way to make your sure kids are getting the help they deserve. They will always go above and beyond to make sure the kids are having a good time This place is more then just a childcare i will never be able to thank them enough for what they have done for my family.

They’re clean, all the stuff works, and they leave you alone to exercise. I have a couple minutiae complaints but certainly not enough to knock off a star. This place is fantastic.

I would no longer recommend South Butler YMCA childcare. It’s poorly run & the kids are running around bored & unsupervised. My kids attended for the past 10 years & up until this past year it was great. I voiced my concerns & was given a generic reply that had the feel of a prewritten response that’s used every time. It stated that they appreciate feedback from parents & that they would use is it as a learning opportunity. Wow.

I like the services and people at the Y. However the hours are not conducive for school kids and working parents. The weekend hours should be the same as the weekday hours. It's frustrating that they close at 8 on Friday, 6 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. I hardly get to use my membership because I'm a working single mom.

I have had nothing but great experiences at this YMCA. Both of my children are in childcare and have learned so much in just one year. I have participated in small group training and have taken multiple classes and love the friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

I went to weightwatchers there. I lost a couple lbs,but I couldn't lose much weight,so I left. That was two years ago. I tried their diet program yweight. It helped. I gain all my weight back. I didn't pay attention to my weight. My pcp dr wants me to go back to ww again. I joined for the 7tg time. I hope it works. Maybe changing the we sight might help. I guess.

The staff for the day care is unprofessional and could careless what happens to your children. My son was assulted while in there care and was not taken for medical treatment. They feel injury to the head and face the best thing to do is lay the child down to rest! It took me a week to find out answers because, they do not call back when you leave messages. When asked about details they're clueless. Took me going to higher up to find out the truth, and see details on camera. I removed my children immediately! Would not recommend this place for anything.

If you have kids and plan on working out, go elsewhere. They are now charging 2.00 a day for child watch on top of your membership for 2 very small rooms that aren't big enough for the kids to play as is.
Terrible decision to take more money with out value in place.

I'm switching to another Y. I've been to several ymcas. And this is prob the worst.

Previous review
Gym is decent with good equipment. Newly remodeled REC center is terrible. It discourages activity in children due to its size. It encourages screen watching and sitting, while parents are active in the gym. Three stars due to renovations being discouraging to the future of society. The YMCA promotes healthy kids campaign, yet the room is not much bigger than a prison cell.

The staff & this facility is truly amazing. Great location & parking. There are nice families & the children love to get together to play and hang out in the rec room. I am honored to have a membership and would refer anyone to participate in any available classes, events or services this facility offers.
