City Fitness Logan Square is hands-down one of the best gyms I’ve ever been a part of. From the moment you walk in, the staff greets you with real energy and professionalism. The facility is spotless, well-organized, and packed with high-quality equipment for every style of workout — whether you’re lifting heavy, hitting cardio, or doing functional training.
The environment is motivating, the members are respectful, and there’s always plenty of space to get a full workout in, even during peak hours. The trainers and staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to help if you need guidance or support.
I also love the vibe of the gym — it feels modern, uplifting, and built for people who are serious about their fitness goals. The locker rooms are clean, the lighting is great, and the whole place feels safe, professional, and well-managed.
If you’re looking for a gym in Philadelphia that delivers outstanding customer service, a great atmosphere, and top-tier equipment, City Fitness Logan Square is definitely the place to be. Highly recommended!

I wanted to share my disappointing experience with City Fitness's "free one week pass" promotion so others can avoid wasting their time.
The Offer: I filled out the online form for a "free one week pass" and was surprised to receive daily phone calls instead of an email with the pass. The salesperson, who spoke barely above a whisper, eventually pressured me into taking a tour, promising to "activate" my pass afterward.
The Sales Pitch: Upon arrival, I was immediately asked to take a seat for a sales pitch before seeing any of the facilities. The representative seemed inexperienced and asked “needs analysis” questions about my goals, experience, etc.
The "Pass" Reveal: After the tour, I was told the "one week pass" was only good for a single workout. When I challenged this, citing the website, she made a confusing offer to "do it for you" if I explained the situation to the front desk. This contradicts their advertising and is a clear bait-and-switch tactic. The representative also stated that classes were not included, which was also contrary to their website.
Overcrowded and Overpriced: The gym itself was extremely crowded, which was a turn-off. With monthly fees ranging from $80-$200, the value does not seem to match the offering.
Final Impression: I left feeling confused and frustrated, having endured a long sales pitch with no genuine offer. The entire process was designed to pressure me into an expensive membership, not to provide a legitimate trial. I will not be returning and would caution others against this deceptive practice. I have included screenshots from the City Fitness website that directly contradict what the salesperson said.

I’ve been a member at City Fitness Philly for over 5 years, and it honestly keeps getting better every single year. I travel a lot and visit gyms all over, but nothing compares to City Fitness. From the energy to the community to the amenities. The steam room and sauna are always spotless and on point, and the equipment is top-of-the-line. Every time I come back, I’m reminded why it’s still the best gym in Philadelphia. Highly recommend to anyone serious about fitness and wellness!

I really love this gym! I usually go to the Logan square or south st locations. Both are really great and you can find space to work out at non busy hours and the staff are all so friendly. I will say though I only had one negative experience at a Pilates class where I was mask shamed by the instructor because I’m immunocompromised and have to wear a mask in crowded small spaces and am also disabled and was shamed for not being able to do certain poses. Otherwise all excellent experiences and highly recommend

It’s clean, quiet If you want to just focus inwardly, the machines work, and they have towels. The lockers are easy to use, and there are enough machines for the number of people there. One flaw for is the steep flight of stairs that you have to climb to get to the gym— not good if you’re doing any kind of leg or knee PT.

10 years strong with City Fitness. A friendly staff, modern equipment, and clean facilities and locker rooms. There's no need to carry around a lock and towel to your workout. I have never felt so disappointed with the level of professionalism at a gym that claims to be “high class.” I had a frustrating experience regarding their strict 30-day policy, and instead of receiving understanding or at least respectful communication, the admin (Marc Milano) I spoke with was dismissive and judgmental.
To make matters worse, he chose to describe me as “mean” and even placed a note in the system labeling me as “difficult and mean.” This is shocking and completely unprofessional. A gym of this level should never allow personal opinions of staff members to be written into a customer’s profile and shared across the franchise. It is unacceptable for an employee to reduce a paying member to a label simply because they expressed frustration.
Policies are one thing, but respect and professionalism should be non-negotiable. I expect much better from a brand that markets itself as premium.

A few staff at City Fit Logan Square, like Fury, are great.. but Walter, the assistant manager, is the opposite.
As others have mentioned, he’s rude, unnecessarily questioning, and unwelcoming over simple requests, and in my case, it was a bag of ice. Never an issue before, until he made a point to highlight his assistant manager title and that they should never be offering ice? Yes, small plastic bags of ice.
Personally, I’ll recommend the East Market or South Street locations to others in the community heading forward, where you’re greeted and treated with kindness… and avoid the repulsive dog urine smell that smacks you in the face at the entrance of Logan Square.
If anyone above Walter wants to reach out since he’s an assistant, feel free. He questioned my membership and took all my credentials despite me clearly standing there in sweat covered workout clothes.

First Impressions That Last!
I know it might be too early to write a full review, but I couldn’t resist sharing my first impressions of this gym—and how they’ve continued to hold strong since the day I started working out here.
First and foremost, the staff. They are incredibly welcoming and friendly, which makes a world of difference. Being surrounded by such supportive people creates a space where you actually want to show up and put in the work.
The workout facilities are spacious and well-equipped—you name it, they have it! I felt genuinely satisfied after my sessions, and that says a lot about the quality of equipment and layout. A special shoutout to the cool-down/stretching zone just beside the cardio area—something many gyms overlook, but CF has nailed it.
Even better, they’ve taken recovery seriously with a separate recovery room that includes massage therapy, red light therapy, and more. It’s the kind of thoughtful touch that shows this place isn’t just about breaking a sweat—it’s about caring for your body holistically.
The locker room is another win—clean, well-lit, and stocked with essentials like a hair dryer, steam iron, and good lighting (which honestly matters more than you’d think).
And then there’s the shake zone. The people here? Absolute gems. Kind, genuine, and always ready with a smile—and their smoothies are just as good: packed with nutrition and deliciousness.
I truly love this place and look forward to spending many more days, months, and years here. 😇

Been a member a little over a year. It’s pricey for what it is, but certainly gets the job done and beats planet fitness.
There could certainly be more attention to detail in the cleanliness (especially showers and cardio equipment) and customer service if you’re going to bill me biweekly at that price tag with an annual “facilities fee”. There’s usually a weekly email letting you know something is broken or out of service (towel dryer/washer, saunas, ect.) at a least one location, and they have a very strict freeze policy (i.e. you don’t really benefit from it unless you plan your travel around their biweekly fee schedule).
As there are so few options for gyms in this city, especially with multiple locations, they have the market cornered. Their classes are good, but be warned: their “thrive” program is a scammy upsell, if you’re going to pay for training you should likely pay for a certified trainer who can give you personalized attention, and if you need group training look into F45 to get real value, time actually spent training, and quality of workouts for your bucks.
If you just need a gym with a few classes, decent amenities, and multiple locations around the city, this is kind of the only option in Philadelphia and it’s sufficient.
Don’t count on them to be open during or sometimes even just near a holiday or anything too traffic causing in the city as they’ll take any chance they get to close early/not be open without batting about your fees. If you ever need help and someone tells you “I’ll pass this along to ‘the higher ups’ and ‘corporate’”, just know that is the end of them pretending to solve your problem and nothing will be done even if you follow up. They your dollars more than you, but that’s business right? They certainly have the infrastructure to be a great gym if that was the goal their goal.
Again it’s a good gym and better than planet fitness but it certainly seems their focus is on marketing/creating content to appear that they provide a better service than actually deliver on.
Logan square is my favorite location because it has the least claustrophobic locker rooms; there are some locations I avoid if I plan to use the showers or sauna as it’s too awkward of a lay out (looking at you graduate hospital).

I cannot say enough great things about this City Fitness location. I’ve been a member at City Fitness for over a year now, and I use this location the most frequently. I usually show up to the facility around 5:00 AM (due to my work schedule) and I never have to wait or “fight” for equipment to get my workouts done.
The staff are exceptional and are very caring and nice. The facility is very clean and they recently updated a lot of their equipment. I highly recommend!

City Fitness is nothing short of a fraudulent scam. Even after my one-year membership expired and I moved out of state, they shamelessly drained my checking account with relentless, unauthorized charges. Their predatory billing practices forced me to involve my bank, as the company outright refused to stop their criminal behavior. Beware: once you sign up, you're trapped in a vicious cycle of deceit with no escape unless you resort to legal action. This is not merely poor service—it’s a blatant abuse of trust and a financial betrayal that no customer should endure.

You might say that a gym can be judged by its amenities. Well, you pay for the amenities and they don't work. It is a shame, because the staff is nice, but if you want something fixed, good luck. You will NOT be receiving the amenities that you PAY for, and when you ask for something fixed, they WILL reply that you, as a paying customer, can cancel your membership. If you are looking for a SAUNA or STEAM, it will not work about 75% of the time. They will spend their money on more advertising and marketing, but they won't spend the money they receive on providing the services you pay for. You want towels? The dryer is broken, and if the dryer is not broken, you have to be given one because the dryers will only work good enough to give one towel. You WILL stand in the locker room and converse with the other members about how nothing works, you WILL ask why there is a 1 inch gap at the bottom of the door in the sauna at Passyunk that lets all of the heat out, that multiple members have requested repair of for over a year. They will not provide a gym shorts dryer, they will not add a $15 Amazon plastic bag dispenser for your wet clothes. They will not reply to your emails. They WILL say, "I'll get that message to the higher ups." And the staff WILL acknowledge that the higher ups don't respond or fix things. Here is a suggestion.....Hire someone who can fix things. Fixing a steam room is not rocket science. A 90 degree Sauna does not qualify as "Working." Staff is pleasant, the members are pleasant, but whoever is in the position of cost-saving and screwing paying members out of their paid-for-services, that guy deserves a raise, because they will make sure your requests are not listened to.

I’m a big fan of CF—the gym is beautiful, well-maintained, and in a great location. My issue is with CF Thrive's management.
I started with one session per week in October, increased to two, but recently wanted to switch back to one due to cost. I called for help—left a message, and the front desk even left a note for Thrive to call me back. No one followed up. A week later, I called again—voicemail full. Finally, I caught a manager in person. After sitting down with my manager and trainer, we agreed to switch me to one session a week, and I thought it was settled.
Five days later, I was charged the full amount for two sessions per week. I called and was told Thrive does not/cannot offer one session a week (even though when I started with Thrive, I was doing and paying for one session a week.) Instead, I was told I’d have to cancel my membership entirely and book sessions individually with my trainer. No apology for the miscommunication, no attempt to fix the mistake—just “you can use the sessions you already paid for.”
I'm no expert, but it seems like it should not be this hard to switch my membership from 2 sessions a week down to 1...
The trainers at Thrive are fantastic, but I can’t wholehearedly recommend this program due to my experience. It was lowkey giving disorganized lazy scammer...like why are y'all playing with my money like that?
After being forced to cancel to participate in their convoluted plan, I’m doing so gladly. It's at the point where this experience PMO so much, I'm leaving my first-ever Google review lmao

I was surprised that City Fitness was much larger than I expected. The lockers with auto reset took a moment to master and were very convenient. Not needing to bring toiletries and towels was an added benefit to their convenient location. The only thing they overlooked was the value of in house massage therapy. After a good workout, sauna and steam I was sadly surprised that all they had available were massage machines.

Overall, a really great experience here. I was initially greeted very kindly and felt extremely welcomed by all of the staff. I was at first a little nervous because of how amazing this place is. Having it be my first time at City Fitness, it definitely is a little overwhelming, but they provide you with so much of what you need/can use during a workout. And also, their locker rooms are completely clean and unforgettable. I know when I go to any gym, I like it when it’s kept nice and clean, especially if I use the showers. This place has it all: shampoo/conditioner/body wash/lotion, hairdryers, feminine products, hairspray, q-tips, makeup cloths, towels, the list goes on!
If you’re looking for a convenient, clean, well-organized, professionally staffed, positive atmosphere gym then you are at the right place.

Clean and well run. However, towel service and amenities can be limited. Lockers need hooks on doors and temperature control in the changing area is too hot and humid. Need to improve handicap accessibility.

Signed up, went twice then I didnt like it and froze it for 6 months then went to another gym. Tried ro cancel but they made it very hard and I don't have time. Just realized they have been charging me 40 dollars every month. Shameless

I have been a member of City Fitness Logan Square since its opening in September 2017, and I have been very happy with my classes and the instructors. The equipment is kept up to date and the facility is clean.

Never actually made it inside this place. Moving to the area and wanted to make use of their one-day pass and was turned away since I'm not yet a Philadelphia resident. They could have saved me the trip if they replied to anyone of my emails that I sent them, but customer service is not their thing. What is their thing is spamming your inbox. Today I just got one telling me they're bummed that I didn't redeem my one-day pass which they just denied me after I walked there and after they ignored several of my efforts to get in contact explaining my situation.
As a business owner myself, this is a cautionary tale of making your sales people all about the numbers and not about the people. They'd lokely have had a sale with me eventually, but the adherence to rules and not a focus on people... feel like I'm getting into a David Mamet play here: "always be closing". Nough said.
