I signed up for Crunch’s *Perks Program* in late 2023 after years of trying to contact them with emails that constantly bounced back. From the start, I was double-charged, and although it was eventually refunded, the real issue was the lack of communication and support.
In January 2024 I notified the manager that my ad wasn’t running and out-of-market ads were playing instead. He said he’d reach out to corporate, but I never heard back. I followed up multiple times in July—another email bounced—and still no response.
After nearly **two years** of trying to cancel and get answers, all they offered was two months of credits. Upper management avoided the issue entirely, and I wasn’t contacted until recently by a VP who said he couldn’t help because it “predated him.”
The local Crunch staff was great, but the company that owns and manages this location (Fitness Holdings / RLB Holdings) showed **zero accountability**. They’re quick to take your money, slow to answer, and the Perks ads were mostly irrelevant filler.
Overall, a waste of time and money. I loved the gym, but the Perks Program and corporate response were extremely disappointing.
Current person who is handling the perks program did try to help but fed me a bunch of crock their upper management told her to. Not her fault but the months and months previously were blantantly ignored and they are trying to wipe themselves of the responsibility but didn't care to take the money and ignore repeated attempts at initially fixing the lack ads and out of market issues. I wanted this to work as I supported this location and referred many here it's a shame it didn't work out but now I'm the one who paid out of pocket and they don't care.

The app for Crunch has me as an active member but the Assistant Manager says that I’m still banned from the gym. He says it’s out of his hands due to the District Manager having to go back months to find something that a senior with multiple disabilities banned. Quite discriminatory

I’ve been coming to Crunch Fitness as a guest with my fiancé for almost a year, paying $45/month in additional childcare fees. Today, out of nowhere, I was told I couldn’t work out without a photo ID — something no one has mentioned once in the past year. If that’s policy, fine, but maybe enforce it consistently instead of blindsiding regular paying guests.
The guy working the front desk today had an awful attitude and completely ruined my workout. Because of how I was treated, I canceled both our membership and childcare immediately.
We were even in the process of setting up a corporate membership for my company, but that’s not happening now. Crunch can forget it. It’s really disappointing, because the regular staff are awesome — this kid clearly isn’t part of the normal crew.

I’ve been with the East York Crunch since it first opened, and while there have always been ups and downs, this is by far the worst it’s ever been. The constant employee and management turnover is nothing new, but lately it’s reached an all-time low.
The front desk staff are usually on their phones and barely acknowledge members. The female manager, in particular, has an attitude every time you ask a question — even something as simple as clarifying an annual fee was met with eye-rolling and condescension. Forget about a friendly greeting; it feels like pulling teeth just to get a “hi.”
It’s clear that corporate isn’t prioritizing quality hires anymore. The level of professionalism and customer care that used to make this location great is completely gone. Really disappointing to see how far it’s fallen.

Went in to use the tanning bed for the first time. I wasn't sure how it worked. 2 ladies at the front were very short with me organizing the counter and not looking at me while i'm asking them questions. One was blonde younger girl and the other was an older brunette girl. Extremely unprofessional for them to ignore me genuinely asking for help and avoiding looking at me and only answering w one word answer. Terrible customer service.

Love the equipment. Staff could use some training in customer service. More than once, they have acted annoyed when they have had to help me, including my first visit when I was enquiring about different plans. Almost made me turn around and walk out. Sauna hasn't worked since I joined two months ago. But like I said, the equipment is top-notch, so as long as the expectation is nothing more than a good workout, you'll love it.

I have attempted to canceled my and my daughter's membership over a year ago, multiple times. I've called and left messages and have emailed and stopped by. I continue to be charged a monthly membership fee, even after my bank card expired and I received a new one, now they just rack up my past due payments. My daughter's bank card continues to get charged. They have an offsite company call me every day about payment, who cannot help me cancel. They send me emails, in which I have responded about canceling and no reply. I've been told the ongoing monthly charge after canceling is a reoccurring problem.

Check your bank statements if you decide to quit! They continued to charge me and when I found out it's been horrible from the manager or whoever handles payments. Even getting in touch with someone took 4 calls, me showing up and 2 emails. I got some money back but now I'm doing it all over again because they still shorted me. Hardest part is just talking to a person!! Well maybe another two weeks it will be resolved. Horrible experience.

The girl who runs Kids Club is so rude, so rude that I cancelled my membership entirely. (Which she would be happy, two less kids for her to watch, since she hates actually doing her job.) I came to kids club for the first time brought a bottle for my daughter and a sippy cup for my son, having never taken my kids to a gym daycare I didn’t know what to bring. She looks at me and says “Yeah I’m not a daycare, I’m not feeding anyone here.” And she even added “We encourage our moms NOT to take the full time allowed when their kids are being watched.” Like this woman is crazy, encouraging people to come back early so you don’t have to do your job? Ridiculous. I think crunch should re-evaluate who they have running the Kids Club.

Crunch fitness advertises a military discount, but when I asked for it they were very uncomfortable. I was told waiving the enrollment fee was the military discount, but they waive it for everyone and then get it back later with an annual fee. Seems very dishonest.

Facilty it's self is great, my only complaint is there is only younger kids working behind the counter. Late teens maybe early twenties and they are always, every single time on their phone the whole time I was in there. One girl was even facetiming someone and sitting down behind the counter. None of these people give a crap about customer service. When you sign the paper to tan they never warn or tell you that you should have safety goggles and lotion to tan and never recommend you start with 3 or 4 minutes the first time you tan for the season. I never see them leave the counter unless it's to unlock the tan rooms and alot of them seem like they were never trained they never know how to do anything to help you with your account. Seems bad business to hire people and allow them to do whatever on their phone blatantly in front customers the entire shift..

If I could leave -0 stars, I would, not for the facility, but for the Customer Service. I was in a month-to-month agreement with them from marketing, the manager who chose to participate in a cooperative marketing, left my organization, and I decided to cancel at which time I called and emailed and went to the location with no response, I had to cancel the credit card at the Manager was using because she was no longer with my organization, and crunch would not respond to me to cancel. I had to contact my credit card to file a complaint. I then proceeded to go to crunch and have multiple emails saying I wanted to cancel, I reached out again to the manager and left multiple messages. Visited three times
Still to no avail, they sent me to an attorney for collections, I provided all of the documentation and reached out multiple times to have a conversation with a manager or someone in the crunch organization, I also called the crunch Lancaster organization with no return calls.
This is definitely an example of making something more difficult to cancel than it is to subscribe to. As an owner of multiple businesses, this particular practice has been infuriating, and taken immense amounts of my time to manage. I would be mortified if my clients were treated in this way, I also would probably not be in business!
I would just be very careful what commitment you’re getting into and what you’re signing because you probably won’t be able to reach any individual other than a person sitting in the front desk Who knows nothing and is unable to help you and will just give you a number to call or an email to Send and you will receive no response. The gym is very clean!! The front desk staff isn’t very friendly and barely welcome you in. Most the time someone is just looking down at their phone or not even at the desk. There are a couple staff members that are friendly and welcoming! The Kids Club weekend staff girls are very compassionate & kind! They’re great with the kids and babies. They seem to be understaffed and not as kind or compassionate during the week days, though. The gym needs a lot of work when it comes to staffing.

Just cancelled my membership after 4 years working out here. The newest member of the daycare team is horrible with children, Ms. Amanda. She is always flustered and frustrated over any little thing the kids do, and you can tell she’s stressed and underpaid, which in reality she shouldn’t be working with children at all. The old staff was wonderful with my kids and very attentive, they used to always have Atleast 2 members watching a full room of kids. Anytime I have dropped by kids off, she’s rolling her eyes or snapping at one of the kids. Her daughter is always there hanging out while she works which she pays the most attention to and she’s annoying, constantly telling the other kids what to do and bossing everyone around but somehow her moms only annoyed by other kids and not her own annoying kid. Not even 10 minutes into my workout I get a text that my son is crying, which is developmentally normal for a 12 month old and she made little to no attempt to soothe him/hold him and said quote “I’m not going to sit here and hold a baby all day.” Like girl, what do they pay you for then? To sit here and look cute? It’s to play with and watch the kids. I could understand if there was 10 kids in there, then ok, totally understandable. There was 4 other kids, MAX independently playing. I will be taking my business elsewhere! Do not trust this lady with your kids, she’s short tempered and snappy.

This is like the 5th time . I work the 3rd shift and always go in when I’m off around 6 well today got off early and decided I’m going in early to gym when it opens . But should’ve known cuz everytime I get a chance to go to gym when it opens . NO ONE IS THER to open the gym . I sat and waited for 30 mins . Not cool at all . Called place of business 3times over the last 2 days. 1st time the manager wasn't available. 2nd time, I tried to correct the issue without a manager and was told "only a manager has the authorization to resolve it ", and call back between hrs 9a.m.-5p.m. 3rd time I called back, I made sure it was between hrs 9-5, again I asked to speak with a manager. The women associate informed me all of the managers are busy at the moment. I simply asked, when is the best time I can call back to reach a manager at this place of business, so I can get this issue resolved with my account. Her response "I'm not allowed to give out that information"?🤦
So associates can't resolve account issues.
And the managers who can resolve them don't want their customers knowing when they'll be available to discuss said issues...
If I could, I'd give this gym a Zero for customer service.
My next step is to cancel my entire account here and attend another gym. A gym that has somewhat professional customer service, and honest, transparent management. What customer wants to have to chase down intentionally elusive managers at a place of business?

They continue to charge my account late then add a late fee, when it is an error on their end. I have gone in person and verified my bank account info AND added my debit card as a "backup" last month. I verified with my bank that there is nothing preventing them from withdrawing my dues. Yet this month the same thing happens again. I was told they would look into refunding my late fees, emailed to follow up and have still not received a response!!!!! Seriously frustrating to be charged $15 TWICE for something that is not an issue on my part 🤦♀️

Excellent facility. Large selection of equipment. I was there on a Saturday around noon and they were pretty busy. Clean locker room. They have it all here.
It’s the staff that seem to need training. I signed up online and was supposed to get a shirt. The staff didn’t have access to the shirts so I didn’t get one. During my workout I asked a different staff if they have a hack squat machine. She didn’t know what that was and said no. I found it a couple minutes later and pointed it out to her. These are minor issues that can be addressed through training.

Tuesday, April 2 at about 530am at the East market Crunch.I went into the gym, scan my membership, and i was told that my membership was 1 day late. I told her I apologize and that I will make sure it’s paid by the end of the day. My husband scanned his membership at the same time and his was OK to go. The front desk lady I won’t be disclosing her name on here proceeded to tell me that I will not be able to work out until the balance is paid off. AGAIN, one day late. I was genuinely confused I’ve been a member with Crunch for almost 3 years.When the pandemic hit, I continue to stay as a member. I wanted to speak to a manager, but was afraid that she would be the manager, so I walked out not getting more disappointed. I have worked in customer service before and honestly don’t understand how you guys continue to hire people who don’t have good customer service let’s be real she could have Let Me worked out. The policy says that members could lose access to facility if membership is suspended or delinquent. My membership was just past due. Let’s do better for your loyal customers. I’m sure a good head on general Manager will see this I’m not looking to get anything free I’m not looking for an apology. Maybe just better training for your staff. Not all of them need it just some.

The gym is clean. The equipment is of good quality and maintained well. The reason for only 3 stars is because it is so crowded in the evenings that you often need to wait 10-15 minutes for most of the equipment. You can't use something else while you wait because it's in use too.

Honestly this gym is clean, organized, and neat. Has plenty of space and the layout makes sense. Staff didn't greet me when I entered, they seemed to be just going through the motions (that's why there 4 stars not 5).
Bathrooms were clean, no actually complaints about this gym. I will be back for sure.

If I could give zero stars I would. I work in customer service, and let me just say, their customer service doesn't exist. Let me start by saying when I signed up here I asked for the Base membership and to add child care too. The next day I realized they signed me up for peak, so I went to the front desk to express that was NOT what I asked for and I wanted base. The manager (I forget his name) claimed he fixed it. It was never fixed and I was continuously charged for the peak membership despite being told twice it was the Base. I cancelled my membership in October and kept being charged (I had a feeling that would happen due to my experience at crunch Lancaster so I literally blocked the payments from going through with my bank) they kept charging me anyways and charged me for "late payments" so when I called to ask why they were charging me at all that say "we have no record of you cancelling in October and can't cancel your membership until the late payments are taken care of"....it's absolutely absurd how they treated me from start to finish. All because the employees I spoke to each time didn't document it so now I'm paying the consequences and it's so unfair. I have called and expressed that this is so wrong and that I want a refund for all payments from October and after and they said they would "look into it" and then call me back and I never heard a thing back of course. All I want is refunded what's rightfully mine, I just want some good will done. I could say I want the difference of all the payments I made between the base and peak membership on top of everything....im just asking for money back from October when I cancelled through December including the late fees when I had ALREADY cancelled and was paid up in OCTOBER. This is my SECOND horrible experience with crunch and their payments...the Lancaster crunch did a very similar thing to me 3 years ago.
My conclusion of crunch is that they have a high turnover in employees. No one knows what they are doing. They don't want you to cancel so they simply don't allow you to. They have no clue how to handle customer complaints or how make things right with a customer. It's JANUARY and I have no seen a resolution yet and no one seems to be actually working on it.

I signed up as soon as they opened in 2020 and quickly canceled my membership a few months later. The front desk staff was so rude to me everytime I was there. There were a few times where I came to the gym only to tan and when I was leaving once one of the staff members yelled "this isn't a tanning salon" after me as I was walking out. I canceled my membership the next day and the person who helped me was rude and made it very difficult. I hope they hired new staff since then. It's a very nice, big, clean gym but if the staff aren't nice and welcoming then why go.

Made it very challenging to cancel my membership. Forced me to pay for the following month that hadn’t started when cancelling otherwise would send to collections. Poor business practices. Additionally much if the equipment was broken which is why I’d stopped going in the first place. Don’t join. They won’t let you cancel.

The gym itself is great along with the staff. Customer service is located in India, if you wanna cancel your subscription.You automatically get rolled over into yearly agreements without permission or consent before hand if you choose the 9.99/ month. Keep in mind, the gym hours have been cut back since Covid so if you can get to the gym until 6pm on a nice Saturday evening. You can just forget about it. Also I’ve been told by staff that the owner tends to cut the A/C to save money. So you tend to have a slim chance to be working out in a hot uncomfortable environment. The process to actually leave this place has ruined my outlook on this franchise.

A "Shout out" to Jen and Latoya (Zumba instructors) at Crunch East York!!! Kudos for the wonderful Zumba Glow Party last Friday!!! They put up decorations, gave out glow bracelets and performed great fun dances! They really care about their members and it shows!! I appreciate the time and effort they put into making this Glow Party a success!!! Congratulations Jen and Latoya for a great Zumba Glow Party!!! You rock!!!!

I told them I wanted to feel stronger. Kept repeating that but instead I kept being told how I could lose weight and look so much better. Offered to count calories and "lose weight in my mid section" all I wanted was to feel stronger. Nothing about my looks. Then when I initially said no to continuing the GM then came over to pressure me further. I went there feeling motivated and left feeling crushed.

I was in the ER with a couple that had their baby SHAKEN by an employee in the daycare area just a week ago, 5/23, because he would not stop crying!!!! That was all I needed to know!!! May be a nice gym, but do not take your kids there while you work out!!!!

Good luck trying to bring guests to this Crunch, even if you have the membership that allowed for it. Staff, mainly the general manager will harass you for the ID of your guest as some sort of collateral to enter the gym. The underlying reason they say for doing this is to get those guests to sign up for a membership themselves but honestly it’s more of an annoyance than anything. They also claim it’s “company policy” but I’ve been going to this specific gym for 2 years now and this company policy has never been enforced.

This is the dustiest gym that is so dirty from lack of cleaning. Not only is the gym NEVER cleaned and hardly ever maintenanced, but some of their staff are incredibly rude. FIVE minutes until closing while TEN of us are trying to change they turn off every light in the locker room. They also proceeded to storm into the locker room yelling instead of actually helping the customers who are in there almost every day. Crazy how they rely on us to clean everything and still treat us that way. Planet fitness would be a better move than East York Crunch.

This is alright gym but the customer service is terrible. I tried to cancel my membership upon moving away and they informed me they use a third party service. I canceled through the service then realized they kept charging me for a membership anyway. I talked to management and they finally assured me it was canceled. A few months go by with no charges then they suddenly decide to charge me again for no reason. Management has been non-responsive and the employees just give me the run around. Do your wallet a favor and don’t get a membership here.

Followup/elaboration. I did not complain as I was in the middle of my workout, but several staff members walked by while it was going on. Apart from the cacophony of gym sounds and the music playing inside, having music played over a cell phone speaker right next to me is bad enough. But add to it the content... gives nothing but a bad impression of the facility.

I love coming up this location, even though the place has slightly gone down since I first joined. The trainers are knowledgeable and the staff are helpful. The shelves are a bit bare from when I first joined. There used to be a large selection of items I could purchase, like vitamins and emergency gym trinkets. Now there are only Crunch shirts and tanning lotion. The refrigerator has its good days and bad (always clean, but sometimes not stocked). The last general manager had the place running amazingly.

I love this gym! I’ve been coming here for a few months and it’s definitely one of the best gyms in York. I’ve visited multiple gyms in York before making a decision and this is by far the best! The equipments are brand new. Group classes are amazing. And I also love my personal trainer Juline!! She’s literally one of the best personal trainers! She’s very knowledgeable and personable. I love coming to her sessions :) highly recommend her and the gym!!! ♥️

Every morning the same young man is opening the gym. He’s always greeting people with the big smile on his face, I love that he opens the doors a couple minutes early too!, it gives me a little more time to workout. Overall great worker!

UPDATE 07/01: I was just charged AGAIN. Two weeks after the gym replied to this message saying they'd resolve this issue "immediately". The real workout at Crunch is trying to get someone to acknowledge your cancellation request.
I have been trying to cancel my membership since February 2022. I moved out of the state, so my only cancellation options are to call or mail. I've submitted the cancellation form, emailed this gym, and returned calls from the cancellation office, but no one responds. They just keep charging my account. Go to any other gym unless you plan to commit to Crunch for life.

Let me start by saying this place is constantly packed and they don't seem to care or monitor how many memberships they give out. I stopped going in January and it now May. I went to cancel last month ($30 month to month)and I was told that I needed to pay last month and the annual fee before I could cancel. I was told to pay the my past due amount of 45 (30+ 15 late fee) and I would get next 3 months free and then decide if I wanted to cancel. Now this month I got charged again 45 so I call to cancel and the same thing happend. So now i just paid 110 for my annual fee and the new past due and now. If I didn't they would continue to charge me and eventually turn it over to collections after who knows how long they would add it up for. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM AND SIGN UP FOR EVEN A MONTH TO MONTH BECAUSE WHEN ITS TIME TO CANCEL THEY MAKE IT REALLY HARD TO DO. YOU HAVE TO CALL AN OUT SOURCED NUMBER TO INDIA AND BE CHARGED WAY MORE THEN U ACTUALLY OWE!!!!!!!

Unbelievably friendly staff. I was very nerves being a veteran with multiple surgeries and injuries. I wasn't sure if i would be able to get back to a healthy weight or have the same movement. They spoke with me helped me get a plan together and im 30lbs lighter and moving again. It's all up to you but these guys are there right next to you if you need them.

Where to start. Treadmills are always out of order. Water filter is always past due. Place is always busy.
The worst part is that they let anyone connect to the Bluetooth in the HIIT zone. Love hearing someone else’s music blaring throughout the workout area.
