We went once last month, and then held my 9yr old twins birthday party there today. Amazing birthday party, especially a great confidence booster for young ladies! The whole gym was private for our party before public hours, and then a perfect party room for pizza and cake after. The 3 staff were all great… supportive, encouraging, and so kind. All 16 girls had a blast. We will be back!

Love the place. My daughter was interested in rock climbing so we called and set up a private lesson since she was too young for the normal classes. Erica has been an amazing instructor helping her with her confidence to go higher and grow. It also is now something myself and my wife are interested in trying too. 10/10 recommend.

Cool gym, nice sized walls. Only complaint is that there are tons for kids before 7pm. After 7pm it’s pretty slow and quiet. Good gym if you want to climb after work but forget about going during the day, unless you have kids.

This gym is definitely a blast from the past. Its really small, the photographs that exist make it look bigger. The rope walls are relatively tall and have been recently retextured. I would give it less stars because I found the setting to be basic(ladders) on all but the hardest routes, there are no modern holds that require the gymnastic style climbing I enjoy. But I do like the autobelays and the overall grunge warehouse style of the place. The holds appear to be recently acid washed and are nice and grippy. The love for the place shows and it takes a lot of dedication to keep the gym open for this long. I wish the front desk guy actually knew how old the gym was, 25 years is impressive, and was willing to share a piece of tape.

Very helpful staff. They fit plenty of climbs in the space. 5 different auto-belay walls and plenty of bouldering for solo climbers. For groups, there are top rope routes and lead routes. Training classes and youth programs are offered. Great selection of climbing equipment available for purchase at the front desk.

It's small, there is no air conditioning, and for boulders it is only old and soft gymnastics style drag mats. This place definitely needs a face lift. But the settings was fine. I do wish everything had grades on it. And I wish that they didn't put colors like red and orange , or black and purple next to each other. Since they use holds from different series and brands on one climb the colors don't match and having certain colors next to each other makes it very hard to follow a particular climb. It is also very hot here. The gym seems old, they did what they could with some old walls and holds.

I was in town for a week from Colorado and was looking for a gym where I could climb by myself. I was happy to see that Downingtown gym had some auto belay so I could climb despite not having a friend for top rope. I think ultimately I wish they had more auto belays because once it got busy it was hard to get on a wall but overall it's a really nice facility that's clean with clear and good variety of levels to run. With a buddy this place is perfect!!!!

For having a pretty small space to work with this gym absolutely makes the most out of it. The place is packed with great old school setting that you don't see much of anymore. Although it doesn't have some the amenities of big new gyms, if you're looking for somewhere to climb hard and push yourself, this is it.

A bit small but fun it’ll it’s not too crowded. There’s bouldering walls and one side (with an inlet/cave for some <90° climbing) and roped climbing on the other. There’s even a couple self-belay machines if your there by yourself and you’ve got a harness. You can rent shoes and harnesses and buy chalk or whatever you need. There’s a couple hang boards and mounted grips to warm up on and a balcony that looks out over the gym to chill at.

Smaller climbing gym but still has some good old fashion routes! The auto belays were new to me, but since I did not have many people to go with, it helped me keep training. The amount of young kids that go here is more than most climbing gyms I have been to and while bouldering it was a bit worrying trying to get back down while they run around underneath. Staff is very nice and will help with any climbing questions/concerns you have. A couple holds have come off in my hands while bouldering but these things happen.

My son and I signed up for the gym. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rock climbing community seems to be very accepting and supportive, at least this is the case at this gym. They have a nice variety of Bouldering and top ropes including 5 auto-belay walls. Would highly recommend!

This is a great gym! It’s small, but there is a good variety of routes. My only complaint is that the triangle straps that hold the auto belay do not have carabiners on them. It makes hooking up your harness MUCH easier (especially with tired arms) when you can hook onto the rope without having to hold onto said rope while fumbling with the carabiner. We helped each other hook and unhook with each auto belay. Pretty inconvenient. Otherwise, we loved the climbing. It wasn’t too busy and the staff were helpful.

Zeke and the rest of the team are awesome and the auto belay system makes it easy for 1 adult to tend to multiple kids with ease and without wearing a harness. It also makes it possible to climb without a partner which is often the thing that keeps me from getting to the gym. I highly recommend although I wish their hours started a bit earlier. Pricing is very fair.

These FAQ's are a lie. They claim you can leave your children 12 and older. They do not allow this. After my 13 year olds were dropped off, we received a phone call stating they are not babysitters so they couldn't stay by themselves even though the FAQ says they can. I PAID for them to go and then was told they weren't allowed to stay as long as they wanted. When I requested an extra hour or so for them, I found out they were no longer allowed to use the Auto Belay climbing apparatus and were instead told they could only do Bouldering. Will not go back to this place.

Helpful staff, most reasonable pricing in the area. The gym is not as big as others in the Philly area. Does have Auto-Belay routes if you do not have a belay partner. Routes are changed regularly.

Edit: Changing my review to 5 starts after climbing at a couple of other nearby gyms. Downingtown has better lighting, changes their routes more frequently, and the staff is much more friendly and helpful. And I did not know how much I liked music while climbing until I went to a gym that did not have any.

Went to a kids birthday party here yesterday and it was great! It was a group of mostly 8-9 year olds but the youngest was 4 and even he got to participate! The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and made sure everyone got plenty of turns to climb, plus they were very safety conscious! This place is set up for all levels, from the very beginners to the much more seasoned climbers. The offer even have an array of camps and youth programs. Would definitely take the kids back here!

Great place for rock climbing! It was very enjoyable and I’ve gone multiple times in th past. It has a great range of courses going from simple walls to difficult ones. The only reason I hadn’t given it 5 stars is because it’s slightly “run down”. (looks like it but isn’t really) I know this can bother some people but it doesn’t bother me. Heads up for parents or other onlookers... It's a little chilly in the space. They do have ceiling heaters which help. I'm sure if you're climbing you warm up pretty easily though.

This place will get you strong af... Most of the holds are bald, so you can't just rely on friction, can be frustrating on certain routes, but overall it forces you to just climb better. Setting graded close to what you expect outdoors. The gym is small, but they replace routes fairly regularly...

Hard to find (lots of "no trespassing" and "no parking" signs in the driveway). If you manage to find the parking lot, good luck locating the actual entrance - there are no signs or indicators. I took one look at the inside and left immediately. The space is small, the walls are filthy, and the lighting is dim while producing an unbearably loud buzzing sound. It was also insanely cold so everyone had jackets on. Would NOT recommend to anyone who has been to a decent rock gym.

The staff didn't offer us a day pass, although we clearly stated that we have climbing experience. Since we are not from USA we were expecting bouldering and belaying test, but instead they sold us autobelay package with auto belay training that is more expensive. It was hard to read route grade on stickers, so old they were. Some holds were rotating. While bouldering I grabbed one top and it rotated. I thought it is dangerous, so I told the staff, but they didn't do anything about it.

A hidden gem in Downingtown, that I never knew existed, till a birthday party.

Renovated Pepperidge Farm grain silos, allowing 38' climbs on multiple belay and (2) auto-belay systems.

There is a small table area, one floor up, over looking the entire area, sort of like an eagles nest...

My son wants to return, with his sister!
