The gym itself is great. Love it. Hate having to give a low review, but the new online registration system is a hot dumpster fire mess. I used to be able to enroll online easy peasy and now I have to call every week and wait on the phone while a clueless student worker manually enrolls me in each class I want to take. How is that better than the old system? When I asked for a timeline on when it would be fixed I was told, "No clue." No disrespect to the hard working admin staff. I'm sure this is a nightmare for them. At the same time, it needs to be known this new enrollment system sucks, and it needs to be fixed asap. If this is a reflection of the university's new leadership, wow, what a downgrade.

It is a good recreation center with most of the equipments newly installed. The facility is clean and has great Vibe. The front desk and floor staffs are really good too.
There need to be more lockers. And sometime I felt there should be a clear instructions to not occupy an equipment forever while scrolling through mobile phones. Lol.

Very small pool. Only 6 lanes - roughly 4 feet wide and 25 feet long. It was impossible to do any kind of physical therapy workouts as the pool was packed with minimum 3 people per lane. The facility supervisor was unwilling to understand my situation when I requested a refund for the 3 month subscription I had bought. They suggested doing said physical therapy workouts "by the pool side"?? even though said workouts are done in water. Bringing up covid concerns, they advised me to wear a mask even though my concerns were about the fact that the pool was packed with minimum 3 people per lane. I bought this subscription for the sake of the pool, not because I wanted to stand by one when I do workouts. Waste of money. Horrible experience.

I find it puzzling how the gym management at Drexel University operates. As an institution that emphasizes good management practices, it’s surprising that they struggle with updating their website promptly. Specifically, there are issues related to gym closures:
Lack of Information on Website:
The gym is closed on Sundays and Mondays, but this crucial information isn’t mentioned anywhere on their website. As a result, people arrive at the gym only to discover it’s closed, which is inconvenient and frustrating.

Today, just when I was at the door, 15+ people including me came expecting gym is opened to find out it’s closed.

Good workout place. Nice and modern.

However, I wish they have more equipments, and maintenance should be quicker for broken ones. Sometimes it takes months.

The open hour is very restricted, and they have many closed days for holidays a year.

The gym is busy, that's undeniable. The rock wall is only open during the week, no weekends, from 4-10. But the workers are nice. The pool has pretty restricted hours also, because Drexel S&D practices there. My partner and I try to workout outside if peak hours, but even at 7pm we can usually get a squat rack and do our lifts.

The facility is overcrowded for the number of people it serves. Locker Rooms are not clean (mildew growing in toilets, flies in the showers), hours are very short. Facility is not air conditioned well so it often smells like body odor (worse than other gyms) in the summer. opens too late and closes too early plus facility is frequently closed for no reason (sometimes for extended periods up to two weeks long) with little to no advance notice of service disruptions. Avoid this gym unless you are a student getting access for free.

Great facilities, got a pool, squash courts, climbing wall etc. in addition to normal gym equipment. The only downside is that between 5 and 7 pm it is difficult to find any equipment that isn't in use. You can, at least, book the squash courts in advance.

It's always packed between 5-8 in the evening because that's when students finish classes. Noon time it's usually completely dead. The amount of equipment is alright, it's spread out narrowly along the entire side of the building and spans two floors (for the gym equipment section). There's no shortage of cardio equipment, but they could have more machines overall. There's 4 benches in the whole gym, 2 of which are flat. There's also only 1 leg press machine which is criminal in itself. Other than all that, it's decent, you can usually get a good workout in but don't be surprised if you have to wait for other people to finish using aa piece of equipment... multiple times.

I get up at 415 am to get to this gym so I can get in my work out before I head to work. I have very little time to train, about an hour, so I need the gym to be open. Several times, at least once or twice a week, there’s no one there to open the gym. There are about 20 of us all waiting for someone to open up and most of us leave because we don’t have time to wait. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. If I can get out of bed to get there to train, I expect someone to be able to do the same to open the gym!

I only use the pool, so take my comments with that in mind.
The issues with the pool, that I have brought to Drexel’s attention, are that, people use the pool as a substitute for a bath.
People come into the pool area, remove their clothes jump in, no shower rinse, no cap, so whatever is on them comes in the pool, hair care products, perfumes, sweat and other bodily fluids.
Chlorine kills germs, but not everything and you can’t rely on chlorine to kill fecal matter...
The showers are gross, but for me, no big deal, but watching someone on the pool deck, coming in from either exercising elsewhere or from the street, sweating on 100 degree days, remove their clothing and jump in, without a quick rinse, is something that makes me literally gag.
Also, FaceTiming in the locker room, and use of cell phones in the shower area or locker room, is not enforced at all, despite knowing what can happen with these videos, and photos.
I’m sorry to be negative and whiny, but I have brought this to the attention of the aquatic director and membership services and either receive no reply or a non committal response of, β€œwe’ll try to address it,” but they don’t.
This gym is close to my apartment, has a pool and would be perfect if basic health and safety standards were enforced.
Too bad.
