Ain’t nothing special about it except the price. I’ll take golds back any day than this snobby place. People walk around with there noises in the air like there better than you. Found a gym in green tree that used to be a gold And basically is accepted name and I’ll keep going there For less than four of what his crap will cost

I want to like this gym, but a few issues knock down its rating for me.
First off, I’ve been going here for over a year and the soap dispensers have been broken that entire time. The one upstairs never works, and there are always one or two broken in the men’s bathroom downstairs. Even Planet Fitness manages to keep the soap dispensers working!
The machines are well-kept and the equipment is generally clean, but for $80+ a month I’m not sure what the value is. There are basically no amenities. The water from the dispensers is lukewarm, there are no towels, and sometimes even the paper towel dispensers don’t work. For comparison, when I paid the same price at the flagship Crunch in New York City or at New York Sports Club, I got a much higher-quality gym experience. So why is it so expensive here for so little in return?
Finally, one of the most annoying habits is that members will walk around on their phones, talking at full volume—even though there are signs posted everywhere saying it’s against the rules. Staff never enforce it, am I supposed to get into an argument with a muscle man about this?
All of these things might sound small on their own, but together they really make you question why you’re paying so much to come here.

Previously left a review after first joining! I can't believe it's almost been a year. I am unfortunately moving out of Pittsburgh, but I cannot thank Luc, Amaka and the staff enough. It's a really great gym for the price point. It's clean and not overly crowded. The front desk staff greets everyone with a smile and kindness which creates a welcoming environment. I had the pleasure of training with Amaka for a few sessions. She was such an amazing Personal Trainer! Truly cannot wait to revisit Pittsburgh in December and stop by again!

Honestly, everything about this gym is 5 star worthy except for their ability to communicate changes. It may not be a big deal to most, but when you have a regimen that you try your best to maintain and you show up to the gym being closed for an event downtown, the sauna not working multiple times after calling to get an update, it gets very annoying. Just shoot an email out. Please. If I knew you were down, I would go to crappy la fitness and get my sauna time in. No offense, la fitness, you know your place as a backup gym. If the first estimate is wrong, tell us they will be close until further notice. Contractors are notorious for taking way longer than they say they will talk. It is how they win bids. Like I said, i love this gym, it is my favorite I’ve been to out of 5 different states (Texas, colorado, oklahoma, and florida, steam room would be sick though), but if I drive there, then have to turn around and drive 20-30 minutes to a different gym….it just flat out stinks. Please try and do better. I can imagine it would be worse if I took preworkout, just cracked out in traffic. So this review is for them too lol.

Good Facilities, But Poor Management
This gym has good facilities, and the receptionists are nice but the gym manager Katie Jacob makes the experience frustrating. She is inflexible and unwilling to work with members, even in reasonable situations. Her attitude has been cold, unhelpful, and frankly unprofessional on a couple of occasions for me.
1. I was a loyal member for over three years. I requested to freeze my membership for a month due to travel. The receptionist had me fill out the necessary form and assured me that everything was set.
However, the next day, I received an email from Katie stating that my request was denied because I had informed them "too late." This was frustrating since their own staff had guided me through the process.
I decided to cancel my membership, and sent an official mail for the same. I had no outstanding payments but my account was inexplicably sent to debt collection (amounting to a total of 3 months of gym membership), damaging my credit score significantly—something that could have easily been avoided with better communication and professionalism.
2. A similar issue happened in my first year when the gym suddenly ended its partnership with LifeCare, which I had been using for a discount. I wasn’t informed in advance, and then one day when I walked in, Katie told me I had to re-enroll and pay a $75 registration fee.
When I asked if I could work out that day and sort out the paperwork later, she flat-out refused and made me leave, showing zero flexibility or regard for customer experience. I found that very disrespectful.
While the gym itself is well-equipped, the manager Katie Jacob is rigid and has a dismissive, indifferent attitude toward members, and apparently has no issue sending false claims to debt collection, harming a long-term member’s credit score. Customer service is clearly not a priority under her management.
I’m sure she will find an excuse to justify this unprofessional treatment, but if customer service and fair treatment matter to you, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
(PS: While writing this review, I came across a few more reviews echoing similar concerns about the poor management under Katie Jacob since she took over.)

Avoid this gym at all costs! Their communication is terrible, and they mislead customers about billing and credit reporting. I paid off my balance after being told it would be removed from my credit report( after unknowingly being sent to collections even tho I wasn’t even using their services) , only to later hear that it’s “against company policy.” They sent my account to collections, damaging my credit, despite my efforts to resolve the issue. Untrustworthy and unprofessional , I would never recommend this place!

Just moved to Pittsburgh and previously worked at a local gym in Austin TX in management, so finding a gym with good equipment and not corporate is very important to me. Tried Etage out today and it was great. Locker rooms are nice and clean! Lots of different machines to utilize. They pretty much had it all. Reasonable priced for what they offer and location. Definitely interested in joining. Eric assisted me with all my questions and was really friendly. Overall great gym and I look forward to going back. Lots of space to workout too!

If you are looking for a very clean, fully equipped, and reasonably priced athletic facility in Downtown Pittsburgh, ETAGE is an excellent choice. The multi level gym is equipped for just about any work out routine. They have newer cardio machines, weight training, Spin and Yoga. Whatever you may be working on, my guess is they have it. The staff is pretty helpful with any questions you may have. Also, they even have nice post workout lounge area and some aqua loungers to loosen up after. Having their own garage with validated parking is a must for downtown as well. Check them out!

This place is full of matrix machines and free motion machines. It's an unusual combination to have Taiwanese machines (only Matrix brand) in an American gym. In particular, I know that the machine price is not cheap, but rather more expensive.
Just because it's unusual doesn't mean it's bad. On the contrary, it is very good.
Machines with enough capacity make exercising more enjoyable. I enjoyed visiting every day for a new experience.
I was impressed by the cleanliness and excellent facilities. I recommend this place to everyone and have no regrets.

They are trying to send me to collections for cancelling their membership, I cancelled in September and now I get some letter in the mail saying I owe them $40.00 uh no I cancelled in September so I don’t owe you anything and you won’t get anything out of me. I cancelled. I don’t owe you for October or November or December. I spoke with management about them not taking my request to cancel Seriously. It took a few weeks for them to even acknowledge and now you trying to bill and send me to collections? Absolutely not.

Construction worker fixing the beam in garage , very nice friendly people , some people have of days but who doesn't, got told I want allowed to use a specific bathroom in lobby after the woman came out of it but the sign says for men and women. Other than that it is a very nice place and very respectful environment. It's cleaned daily and people clean the machines after they are done with them, highly recommend for the work out people.

There is no substitute for a gym in Pittsburgh. If you are moving to the city or have been here for awhile and aren't here yet, you need to sign up immediately. Break up with your home gym, because this one has better facilities, friendlier staff, and a great group of personable individuals.
The management will take care of you like family from day 1 and the opportunities for your fitness career are quite literally endless. Throw a nice sauna or rooftop basektball (with amazing views of downtown) on at the end of your workout and nothing can beat this gym.

Lots of equipment, not too crowded except for weekday evenings right after work, and the amenities (basketball court, hydromassage, cycling classes, yoga classes, & sauna) are great. Also, it's very clean and upkept well. Very glad that I cancelled my LA Fitness membership to start going here! If you work downtown, I can't recommend this gym enough.
Also, staff and management are very kind and helpful. I walked in to inquire about offerings and pricing and the pitch was super low-pressure - unlike LA Fitness and other gyms that immediately mentioned they'd need my credit card before even offering a tour.

Pittsburgh’s best gym! From front door to top floor, this is what a gym is supposed to be. The front desk staff, Ashton and Trace, were very welcoming and professional as they helped us get started. The equipment is well-designed, clean, and well-maintained. The other gym members are respectful and put things back where they belong. For the Instagrammers out there, the lighting here and the rooftop views can’t be beat. Can’t wait to continue training here.

Best gym in DT Pittsburgh. Honestly the best gym I've been to in most cities. Multi-floor setup with essentially every piece of equipment you could ask for. Staff is super friendly and access is easy from street. You can either enter via staircase, or elevator for those wish disabilities or alternative forms of transportation. There is also a bike/scooter rack inside the establishment, so you can always feel safe.

Canceled my account, signed my papers with a manager and thought it was done. Etage continued to charge me for 5 months and they claim to have no recollection of my paperwork. 3 weeks now I have been reaching out only to get the run around told they need more time. Manager has no recollection, cameras don't work so they keep my money with no regards or even help.

I love this gym. It is affordable, convenient, and super clean. I like the classes (even the virtual although I wish I could "on demand" a class at any time of the day if the studio is empty anyhow). I took a star off because as long as I have been going there (a few name changes ago) the ladies room is TOO HOT. It's got to be 80 in there at all times of the year. Otherwise, great gym!

I wanted to say how impressed I am with the staff and management at Etage, especially Ron Smith (management) and Kaitlyn at the front desk. Ron handled a situation that could have been very bad and turned it into a positive experience. He cares very much about members' safety and their ability to come to a place that is clean, beautiful, and stress fee. Kaitlyn is so welcoming, she always remembers my name and is just so pleasant and warm. Very impressed with this gym!! Keep doing what you're doing!

TLDR: Management won't allow members to use the rooms when they are empty, not even the yoga room, for solo yoga. Losing easy money from patrons who would pay while not causing wear and tear on the facility.
Full story: Before the pandemic I used to enjoy using their 2nd floor room for daily quiet yoga sessions. At any given time between class times there might be up to 6 people using the space, doing their own kinds of stretching and workouts, and that was really nice. Since reopening under the Etage name, they don't allow anyone in their fitness rooms unless there is a class going on.
I didn't know this when I reactivated my membership in March, for the first time since the pandemic. The staff informed me, and told me that when the yoga room (which was under construction) was finished, that I would be able to use it for solo yoga sessions.
I went today to do just that, as the yoga room had been completed. I was very excited to have back my yoga time to break up the workday. Immediately when I entered the yoga room, a rather unfriendly man came in and told me I couldn't use the space unless there was a class going on.
This has left me with no quiet place to do yoga as the entire facility outside of their rooms is filled with workout equipment and no clear floorspace. I immediately canceled my membership. I am extremely saddened that management has no consideration for members such as myself who just want a place to stretch for 30 - 60 minutes a day. I used to tell my friends how amazing their facility was, and now I will never mention Etage on my own to anyone I know, and I will tell all of my coworkers and anyone I speak with who mentions thinking about checking it out that they should definitely not consider a membership there for any reason.

This gym is by far the best gym in Pittsburgh! Friendly staff, great environment, and state of the art equipment! When Ron Smith first started one of the first things he did was introduce my friends and I to other gym members. For your GM to take the time to introduce you to other members really speaks volumes and it shows me that’s it’s not just business all the time, personal relationships matter!
As a side note if your main concern is COVID19 don’t worry, there’s always staff that are cleaning the gym!

this is the third name change for this gym and looking up reviews for the last two proves they haven't changed much when it comes to retaining their clients money. was a member for five years and when i tried to cancel because i moved they told me they'd give me two free months instead. it's been three months and i noticed my card got charged 70$ this morning randomly and it was from the gym. i looked and not only had they not given me the two months free, they charged me 70$ for the third in addition to two previous charges of 30$. now im 130$ down and have no way to get it back. this place and 90% of its staff are an absolute joke.
