This gym is in terrible condition and desperately needs maintenance and cleaning. Many of the machines are old, broken, or out of order for weeks at a time, which makes it hard to get a proper workout in. The few machines that do work are rarely cleaned or wiped down, leaving them sticky or sweaty from previous users.

The overall cleanliness of the facility is poor — the floors and bathrooms are often dirty, and there is an unpleasant smell throughout the gym that makes it uncomfortable to stay for long. It feels like the place is not taken care of at all.

I signed up expecting a space where I could focus on my health and fitness, but instead, I feel frustrated every time I go. This is not a comfortable or motivating environment, and I would not recommend Fitness 19 to anyone who is serious about their workouts.

Super disappointed. Wanted to join the gym as a new member, doesn’t say anything on their website about needing to come between a certain time in order to join. Go to the gym thinking they’d be someone there to talk to at 8:05pm and there’s a sign on the door saying new members need to get there during business hours 8-8pm. A little notice on the website would have been great so I didn’t waste my time.

This place has rapidly gone down hill within the last year. It’s never clean, half the machines don’t work, and the new members have no care for the equipment. The floor is never cleaned, the mirrors are filthy, and the music is way too loud. The only thing it has going for them is that it’s cheap and 24hrs. We tried 5 times during staffed hours to cancel our membership and there was no staff. We had going to a new gym and frequently see former Fitness 19 members there now. If you are serious about fitness don’t go there.

They’re 24 hour which is convenient. The have a large and varied selection of dumbbells, barbell racks, smith machine, weight machines, and cardio equipment beyond your typical planet fitness.

I can't say much about the gym itself but the experience so far is less than stellar. I signed up for a free day pass and tour. Scheduled on their website for today at 6pm. Then I get to the location and can't get in because nobody is working. Call the number on the door and they said I'll have to try to call the location during normal operating hours. Whatever that means because obviously what's on their website isn't accurate for the hours that people actually work there.

I’ve belonged to this gym for years and as of this post, I haven’t cancelled my subscription but that’s only because of the convenient location. I couldn’t help but notice when I was there today how filthy it is. Machines are covered in dust, at least 4 cardio machines were out of order, there are basic things that are broken/missing like the soap dispenser in the bathroom area, and they seem to be extremely understaffed. They used to have staff there until closing and now the staff is gone by late afternoon and today there was no staff at all. They used to have childcare and fitness classes, both of which no longer exist. I can’t help but wonder if this gym will close soon because of how crappy it’s become. Years ago I belonged to Bally’s and it was the same situation and now that Bally’s (became LA Fitness) has been razed. It’s almost criminal that they can stay open in such condition and charge people for it.

Needs to be cleaned, badly. The floors are crusty and the mirrors are very dirty. Equipment is not kept up with. Would honestly be a 5 star if these things were addressed. I only go here because it's close to me and I cannot afford a private owned gym at the moment.

Had an issue with another patron and his friends laughing at me while working out, tried to cancel my membership, it's been 2 months. I finally get a call and the owner shames me for not saying anything. I'll never recommend this place, especially after my interaction with the manager ON top of the fact this facility is not kept up with at all.

I’ve been a member for over a year. The location is absolutely awesome. The pricing is very fair too. Then something sad happened. I was invited to my friend’s gym and realized just what I had been living with at Fitness19.

By comparison, Fitness19 was just dirty . The bathrooms are undersized and definitely not cleaned regularly throughout the day. The gym floors are not cleaned and just generally feels disgusting. Multiple treadmills are broken and stay broken.

Walking into my friend’s gym, it smelled of disinfectant. The multiple bathrooms were clean. The treadmills are the latest variety and all have televisions that you can Bluetooth.

After joining on 7/30/2022 and cancelling on 8/03/2022, imagine my surprise when this location blatantly decided to violate the Pennsylvania Health Club Act. If the contract is cancelled within three businesses days of signing, supposedly they're required to provide full refund within 40 days.

They not only failed to refund the $199 paid for the year, but also started charging monthly dues a year later. Hopefully the Attorney General can make more headway than I can!

It’s not often that I update reviews! I have to recognize one of fitness 19s personal trainers, Dallas. Met him a couple months back and was having elbow bursitis act up to the point I couldn’t lift. He heard me over talking and advised I use a tennis ball to stretch that area and the shoulder. He didn’t charge me, he didn’t ask me to sign up to train. He saw a fellow gym goer suffering from pain, offered his advice, and man has it helped me! These last 3 weeks have me feeling like I’m 18 again. Dallas, thank you. I sincerely appreciate your suggestion and even more so appreciate you offering that out of the kindness of your heart with no expectation of anything in return! 10/10 guy, I’d highly recommend.

Wonderful establishment with an excellent team! I’ve been to countless gyms in the Pittsburgh/Surrounding areas and have not found a gym like fitness 19. Their team members truly embody the mission and treat you like family. In two years, I’ve yet to show up and see anyone in a bad mood. The front desk is always bright and joyful. Brittany is always a gem up front and ready to assist in any way that she can. The lead trainer, Cam, is everything you’d want in a trainer and team member: Well versed, positive energy, and someone who works with your goals.

The gym is always clean. The owners are constantly adding new equipment, and the crowd is awesome! I’ve met good friends here and that’s not always the case at gyms. Generally not overcrowded and I’ve never struggled finding something to do.

I’m happy to call fitness 19 my gym family and they have me locked in while I am in the Pittsburgh area. 10/10 highly recommend.

This was a nice gym until the owner decided to cancel ALL the fitness classes at Caste Village and then Greentree several months later. I prefer to work out and feel more motivated in a fun group setting, so I promptly cancelled my membership and joined another gym that values group fitness. They never even emailed members to let them know this was happening and we, along with the instructors, only found out a week before (I feel bad for the people who were not at the gym at that exact time and most likely showed up for a class in February only to find out they were cancelled). FYI the Greentree website STILL has the fitness class schedule on it and is advertising that the $33 a month membership includes "unlimited group classes", but all the classes ended in January. It also says it includes "unlimited kids room", and they haven't offered childcare in a while. As far as the gym in general, don't be surprised when you see dust bunnies floating around everywhere - it's obvious the gym hasn't been cleaned in ages. Very unprofessional!

Please note: The instructors that I had, Diana and Samantha, were awesome and get 5+ stars! I will truly miss them and their fun, motivating workouts. My 1-star rating is solely based on the gym itself and how it handled cancelling the group fitness classes. It is not a reflection of the instructors, who are amazing at what they do.

This facility is staffed with the BEST people you could deal with. I had some issues and both the Manager and Brittney went waay beyond what you might expect just about anywhere else to assist me. They are part of a rare team that I was lucky enough to stumble across. Great atmosphere to exercise. I even got to shake hands with an idol of mine. I don't recommend this gym at all. They don't have any respect for the people. I asked for personal training sections because I have lower back issues. I explained to the personal trainer that I need help with specific exercises to prevent back pain. The 1st training section happened, but exercises given caused pain. I paid $300 for 6 personal training sessions, and I kindly asked to be refunded. I was told that the manager couldn't do the refund and the owner would call me. Two weeks later, there was no response, no refund.

I like going to this gym because it's so close, but man, it could use some improvements. Equipment is always broken - the same machines will be out of order for months on end. And even machines that aren't marked as out of order don't work correctly.

For example, one day we tried using one of the 3 available stationary bikes that didn't have "out of order" signs on them - one was missing a pedal, and one clanked horribly with every rotation of the pedal. So counting those as broken, there was only one bike to use in the whole place (out of 5 I think).

What about treadmills? I counted one day, and there were 7 out of order ones. Those same 7 have been broken for months - at least since November, but honestly probably before (I just decided to finally take a pic and count the broken machines in November because it had started to bug me).

That's not to mention all of the other broken equipment throughout the gym as well! I literally saw one guy sit on a bench one day and the whole bench shifted underneath him - thank goodness he hadn't started to press yet! Other machines stick or are missing valuable accessories. Most benches have holes and rips.

I'd be more OK with this if Fitness 19 was a struggling gym. I get it can be expensive to make all of these repairs, and I don't expect perfection. But every time we go, the place is pretty packed. They seem to have a lot of members, so why can't they afford to replace/repair anything?

Other gyms don't seem to have these issues with ordering parts. We've been to the North Hills Fitness 19 as well a few times, and there are far less out of order machines (and the ones that are broken are repaired in a timely manner). They use the same equipment, so if the North Hills location can get repairs done/get the parts delivered, why can't this one?

To add to the irritation, all of the plates are scattered across the gym and never put away correctly. Members consistently leave all of their weights on the machines and don't put things back. This isn't quite the gym's fault obviously, but I think staff should do their part to educate people on proper etiquette if they see these issues happening. And maybe do some rounds to put things back in the proper places throughout the day. I don't want to diss the staff, though - they all seem nice enough, and maybe they do clean up throughout the day. It could just be the members are that egregious in their lack of etiquette that they can't keep up.

So, yeah. That was a bit of a rant, but I think it captures the main issues here. I think I was mainly motivated to write this review because Fitness 19 keeps advertising to me on Facebook with stock videos of these beautiful, perfectly kept-up gyms with amazing amenities like turf fields and high-tech cycling rooms that they certainly don't have at this location. It's highly misleading, and quite frankly, annoying.

I'll keep going here because of convenience, but begrudgingly.

Been going here for years. Love the membership price, but this location is kind of small, and lately there are usually several pieces of broken equipment which are often the only type of machine there. The shoulder press, ab crunch, inner/outer leg adductor machines were all broken for the last few months.

My husband and I are both members. We can't say enough good things about Fitness 19. The staff is very nice. I take the Silver Sneakers class with Maggie on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. LOVE IT! I like this gym. It has all the equipment I need and they are constantly improving. They got a reverse Hyperextension machine and new handles for the cable machines that are pretty cool. I reported the mold to the front desk staff gentleman this morning. His response was "yes I know. It's very bad. I have mentioned it to ownership many times."

This is why I am "taking to the internet". Regardless of my comments being on the internet or in person has no effect on your ability to fight a mold issue. Its wildly dangerous, specially when you are doing heavy breathing during a work out. You definitely have a mold problem.

Outside of the mold...walk through your facility and look at every single bench with gouged out torn seats, broken foot clamps on bikes, etc My 5%-20% wasn't just about broken machines, it describes poor quality pieces overall. It's accurate.

The place is a D+ on its best day. If you wish to discuss offline, then tell me who to call, but this should be known to all potential customers. MOLD IS DANGEROUS.

The gym is good with all the needed stuff. My only concern was while the enrollment , i was charged 30$ as initiation fee along with the month membership. When I later checked online , it was just a 1$ initiation fee. I called up and asked one the staff and they said it will be charged when the enrollment is done at gym. When initially signing up for a membership the staff was aggressive and the sales guy incorrectly filled out my form. I had to have two managers sign the paperwork to have it corrected. Cancelling a membership required going to the branch in person to sign (difficult when hospitalized then quarantined). Staff was extremely rude and pushy. EDIT: it should also make any prospective member very wary of joining, that ownership will try to look back into member data to try to find people who leave reviews. (Apparently not successfully.) I specifically asked to have my information and photo removed from their computers when I closed my account. They have mailing addresses and phone numbers - what stops them from taking the next step of following a woman or showing up at a person’s house? These are the openings to too many true crime stories. It is not ok.

I absolutely love this gym.
I like the convenience of the location and the fact that it’s not overly crowded .There is a lot of machines and free weights available to you so you don’t have to wait on anyone like you do for the bigger gyms. Everyone there is always super Friendly . Vo works up at the front and he always greets you by name with a smile and is so pleasant to chat with . He originally got me to sign up and I’m so glad He did. I love working out at fitness 19 and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a friendly , clean and well equipped gym.

I’ve only visited this gym so I got a little tour and a great work out... but I really liked they have tons of free weights, solid class room for classes and private training, which is great to have when you just want to focus on getting the work done. They also have a nice kids club which as a mom makes it easier to get to the gym. Especially when you’re on a road trip and don’t want to miss out on your training. Thanks Fitness 19!

I like this club because I have 2 little boys and they are really affordable with child care. They have tons of kettle bells, a platform and a ton of cardio. It's clean, which I appreciate because I've seen gyms that aren't cared for. And a great class room! They have some really fun classes too.

Cancelled my membership the other day because the gym has gone pretty down hill since the new management. A decent amount of the employees that were there either left because of him or got fired for no reason, even though they worked hard and did their best to keep the gym up and running. With the old manager I would have gave this gym a 3 star, but just how new management has been handling things, it's a pretty uncomfortable place to be now. I give it a solid 1 star, and that's because you can't give 0.

I'm editing my previous review to address the negative reviews recently posted in response to an employee getting fired. It was absolutely deserved!!! I had several complaints about this employee over the year and went as far up as the owner to voice them. Clearly, the people complaining about Vo and the gym are fans of this past employee and have had this person talking in their ears. If they knew everything that went on, they might change their tunes. The fired employee had ample opportunities to change and simply didn't.

Know what you're talking about before you try to ruin a business and reputations.

this gym has went downhill really bad. the new "management" has no idea what they are doing. Vo wrongfully terminates good hardworking employees while he himself has no idea how to run a gym. nothing gets done about a large amount of people not wearing deodorant which makes the facility stink to high heaven. stay away from this place and take your business elsewhere.

Beware when looking for a trainer. There is one trainer in there ALL the time, Brittany. To begin with, she IS NOT certified, but she is dating the manager, Adam, so I think that how she is allowed to train. Not sure how it's legal, though. Have heard 2 reports of her injuring clients so far. Also the way she treats employees and MEMBERS is appalling. I've been in a class where she actually paused the music to make fun of what a member was wearing to work out in out on the machines. Will be in touch with the owner. Have been notified by a few other members that they plan to file complaints with the owner since they cannot go to management.

This place is just an OK facility. I don't like that they hide behind their "only 9 dollars a month" promotion but then there's all these hidden fees that make it equal out to the cost of other gyms anyway. The ceilings are low in the weights area which I just don't like in a gym. It is a smaller place so its easily packed and even finding parking can be tough. If you're a pretty tight budget check it out but if you can afford like 5 dollars more a month I definitely recommend some of the bigger gyms in the area.

Had been a member for 3+ years at this location and used to workout at another location for a couple years in the past. Closed my membership and the guy at the front seemed displeased with this. He literally said “goodbye” as soon as I signed the paper and nothing more. Not “thank you for your business”, not “if you decide to join a gym again...”. Wasn’t thrilled with the interaction.
