i really loved to be a part of the figure skating scene here. everyone was so nice and i had made a lot of friends. it felt nice to be a part of a team. plus, the figure skating camp over the summer was extremely fun.

Nice facility, but they had the most uncomfortable rental skates I've worn in my life. Three out of the five people in my group had trouble with the wide, stiff skates... Felt like ice picks jabbing into my ankle bones!

Months ago I gave Hatfield Ice five stars because my daughters have always enjoyed skating there, and I never had a bad experience. So, I don't understand why in November 2024 they would sell $300 worth of ice time and then refuse to honor the purchase. Worse, two representatives of Hatfield Ice now claim that they do not offer refunds for the $300 purchase.
After nearly two weeks of trying to reach Sandi George (bookkeeper) and Brian Peca (general manager) via email, it appears they're simply not responding. I did receive confirmation that Mr. Peca apparently saw my most recent email four days ago.
What started out as perhaps a simple and easily-remedied mistake by a Hatfield Ice employee is turning into something that requires escalation to Grandview Health and the appropriate authorities.

Main two rinks and snack area are very nice. 3rd rink has no seating and kids need to carry gear upstairs to their locker rooms and then walk up and down the stairs in full gear. Walkways are tight cause everyone is standing around with nowhere to sit.... Pretty bad setup over there but the main building is good.

Has 3 rinks. Two sheets in main building and one outside stand alone. Have been to all of them for playoff and regular season games. I will start with the stand alone tan building. The furthest parking lot from the main building fills up quickly which is on the one end of the rink. Unfortunately if you park here you have to walk all the way down to the locker rooms on the other end. Seating is very limited, I think maybe 5 benchs... most people will need to stand to watch. There is a mezzanine on the lockeroom side to watch the game, bad thing is you have to watch through the net on the upper area. FYI, intresting to watch the youth players carry there bags upstairs to the lockerooms. There is restrooms and water fountain only in this building. Also on the colder side.
The main building has more to offer and lockerooms on the main level. Large parking lot along the front of the building. They do have a concession stand in the middle. Plenty of seating and area to watch along the glass. They also have a pretty well stocked store. Lockerooms are on the small size.
The ice is good and well maintained. Staff is nice. This is the home rink for Genesis.

Love this rink, some awesome people work here and the quality if experience is unmatched. However, one rather annoying thing that should be changed is scheduling. Its not quite fair that a public skate gets to pay full price but all of a sudden gets half the rink to use because of a skate lesson. If it was noted on the schedule, or at least the admission price got cut down a bit, Id be fine with it. But whoβs happy paying full price and getting half. Especially when the other rink is wide open and could easily hold lessons. I donβt mean to nag though, the staff here is top notch, and the place is clean and taken care of, I would always just call ahead to see if theres any schedule nuances for the public skate you wish to attend.
Update: after looking again at the application used for scheduling, I noticed under a notes tab that there is indeed a notation for when part of the ice is blocked off. While its nice to know this, I still feel its not exactly fair to charge full price to lose rink space and crowd sections of the ice. My experience was wonderful when I went during the day, there was so much room to try and teach my youngster to skate without too many people to bump into, but once part of the rink was closed it became overcrowded very quickly. And again, my apology for not using the proper measurements, but saying I served you a 3/4 or 7/8 or even 9/10 ths of what you asked for, and you should just be happy and accept that, is not okay by any means. My mind and review remain unchanged. I truly do love the people here, and the rink is always very nice to skate, and I donβt recommend anyone away from visiting this rink. But I do still recommend looking closer at the schedule as I will from now on.
And on a side-note, while the owners attention is here, I have been and still would be interested in purchasing season passes for my family if you have ever considered offering them.

Ice rink is nice. There are two separate rinks opposite of each other in the building. In the middle is the snack area.
Price for admission is reasonable.
The entrance has the front counter for admission and to the left is an arcade and also the doors to the left side ice rink. To the right of the front desk is another rink and pro shop.
The area is pretty spacious for table seating to either look out to the rinks or eating.
The snack counter food was not bad and the price isnβt too bad either.
My granddaughter enjoyed skating here. She thought the music was good.
People were respectful to each other on the rink. Not too many obnoxious skaters who want to show off and possibly run into someone.
Cleanliness is good.
Overall is was a nice ice rink and would recommend this place.

Update Aug 2023: I've been to a lot of ice rink snack bars at this point. Rinkside CafΓ© has everything you could want from a full service kitchen and eatery. Fresh sandwiches and combo platters as well as 'snack bar' staples. Reasonable hours and ample seating.

This place was great. I went to a public skate on Saturday night. People in the front were great. The Zamboni cleaning up the ice an hour in was also very cool. Lots of fun for sure. It is crowded, but I have seen worse.

Great rink for hockey and for General skating. There are 3 rinks in total, and there is a food bar and seated area between two of the rinks. They have windows overlooking two of the rinks. The staff are great people. The instructors give great lessons, and there are plenty of activities to partake in. Hatfield Ice is the home of Genesis Hockey and Ice Hawks Hockey.

Definitely one of the way better arenas in the general area. With two kids in ice hockey and ice skating, Hatfield has become a second home.

Public skating gets super busy within the first half hour and stays that way for the rest of the session. I always anticipate some zoomers on the ice but never expect the staff to go whipping through the crowd at high speeds, which was what I witnessed here. I would not recommend this rink for absolute beginners as the crowds and mixed skill levels are a hazard for inexperienced skaters.

We always have a good time and good experience here. I often take my daughter and her friends and most times we're the only ones who can skate but here, no one gives us a hard time and people will help if someone falls. Other rinks we've been to, they're rude (patrons) and make fun of the kids who can't skate. We never have that problem here.
