I joined two months ago. Overall great value. I use it primarily for the pool. The pool itself is clean and well-lit. I go lap swimming during the day and it has never been crowded, although about half the time I split the lane with another swimmer. Not a big deal. Always several life guards on duty who are very attentive. Shower area is relatively clean and always available stalls. Bring your own towel. Shower slippers recommended. You also need to bring your own combination lock to use a locker. I’ve also used the weight room and treadmills, and they were never so crowded that I couldn’t get onto equipment I wanted. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Parking area can get a bit busy but I’ve not had a problem finding a spot quickly. Overall highly recommended.

Kid Zone staff are lazy. They are placing toddlers that walk in infant room so they won’t have to run after or watch them. In infant room staff is sitting down not entertaining the children. Then when the child feels confined and starts to cry, they call you to come get them. They need to let the kids play, be social and move around. That’s what kids zone is for and for them to watch over the children. They are taking advantage of whatever cry rule in place. If a child cries, console them and convince them to play. Don’t put them in a stroller confining them even more. After like 20 minutes I was called to come get my child and a few other parents were seen quitting their workout to pick up their kids as well. Then having to walk around the track with their child. It’s obvious they have no patience. Other than that, this Y is a nice place. Very clean and convenient set up. Nice people. But, I had to make sure Y officials are aware. They need nurturing, caring, fun and energetic staff in there. The kids are picking up off their lazy vibes nonchalant vibes.

The staff at the front desk are ridiculously rude. Not at but too many are. It is a revolving door, and they are never trained to resolve any issues. I took my daughter to join the Haverford Y I am already a member. To start the middle eastern woman older woman when I signed up questioned me as to why I had the insurance I had and why and how I received state insurance. Then she questioned my gender because of my unique first name. Which was highly inappropriate.
So today we go in and she was there so obviously I did not want her assistance. The other two men I was told were new and did not know how to do it. And the manager who said his name was Anthony said he did not know how to do it either. Fine I’ll come back. So then I asked to make a payment on my account and again nobody can do it. When I ask how as the manager can you not assist patrons with these simple tasks and he stated his job was just to lock up and make sure the building didn’t burn down. Excuse you, beyond rude. I let him know his sarcasm was not appreciated and that made no sense. He continued to get smart and yell sorry sarcastically as I walked away with my children.
I went back to him and let him know his behavior was unacceptable and not that of a manager. AndI would be filing a complaint . Which it wasn’t. This location needs to really take a look at who they are bringing in to represent them because some of the staff is rude and clearly not trained at all. I can understand being new and learning but to speak to customers that way is never okay.

The complex is well equiped. Couple of things to take in consideration are: The kids zone is almost always full, I think the space is really bbig so they would be able to take more childres, but the staff probably is the issue. The other thing is the non-so-wellcoming staff at the front desk, they are nice (not all of them) when you start the conversation, but the people checking the cards, NEVER even a "hi". The staff at the gym, they have some people there, but unless you are one of the buddies, they will not assist you, or even come close to ask if everithing is fine. The pool lanes are incredeable, and the indoor running, that's a big win for winter trainnings. I would add a cafetiria on consignment, and that would be a great improvement. Overall, is a great place for all ages.

Overall, a good gym with lots of options for workouts and group classes. Disappointed with recent experience of having a weight dropped on my foot by another member when storing dumbbell equipment in vertical storage rack. This was in the Silver Cardio Fusion Tuesday 11AM class yesterday. Instructor Staff should show members how to safely load and unload equipment used in classes, not just provide instructions on how to do the class exercises safely. Noticed damaged weight equipment in the gym area where class is held, probably due to multiple occasions of dropped weights.

I don't go here, but I read the police reports for the local towns online from The Patch. In the Haverford Township version, there is at least one theft per week (usually there are more) of wallets, cell phones, etc. , from the locker room of this place, sometimes with a lock cut.
Management has to be aware of this since police are constantly called, yet they don't hire any kind of security to keep it from reoccurring. That's arrogant.

I've been a member at the Haverford YMCA for just about a month. During that time I've only used the weight gym and I'm very pleased. The machines are top end, there are trainers everywhere ready to help, everything is clean and the staff are friendly.

Firstly I have been a member of the YMCA since of the original location in Suburban Square of Ardmore P.A since 11 years old. I have also been a resident of Lower Merion township for the past 26 years where Im born and raised. For the past years each time during a 40 minute workout Im watched profusely by a large staff member I’ve never even noticed before. To my understanding iv learned his name is Derrick whos the manager. I kept noticing he would stand nearing to me whether it be above the workout floor or on the workout floors on the second and first floor levels. I noticed he’s very attentive when it comes to viewing me while working out and or being at the gym.

The man looks like hes in his 60s so I originally felt like hes creepy and I don’t want to be anywhere around him .

There are even times where I catch him watching me and he would go away. I believe he would go into his office and continue to watch me on cameras for his own sickening pleasure.

On the floors I noticed Derrick would watch me for my entire workout and also some of his staff would unfortunately follow him to do the same.

It felt strange but more than anything it began feeling harassing and violating being Im a female.

There are many times when he stood so close to me during my workouts that I felt that I was not safe.

I have never had any other issues with the ymca all i do is go in to complete a workout and leave.

Stop spying on members for the duration of their entire workout as a professional staff member it is completely disgusting classless and so low for a manager of any facility to engage in.

I get disgust of his behavior and image everytime I know notice it in my view.

You are a manager of the gym your time and focus should be of that. Instead you constantly harass a female member and have never thought to change your behavior being the large man you are.

Lead by example what you’re doing seemingly looking to be in your sixties is the complete opposite, failing at being an adequate manager.

I have had so much of the behavior from the staff that I called the police to the gym regarding the last encounter with a staff member.

The staff member of bald head scrappy beard i my self found unattractive and also creepy watched me for exactly 20 minutes from the back. When I noticed him I left and went to a different machine where he stood and watched me again.

I never really take pictures I just avoid it because I have so many other things to do a in a day revolving around a 40 minexercise.

The manager of this facility is responsible following this unprofessional conduct and behavior as a whole because he does it and more significant allows it.

He is the worst manager i have ever come across in the main line area although this is havertown pa so technically its not the mainline fortunately for me.

All I can say is strive to be better at your size and age.

Good afternoon Google Family. This place was beautiful. It was huge, there was a huge parking lot!!! I donated blood for the American Red Cross. I was excited because I was able to donate today. I'm anemic and sometimes I am unable to donate because of my low iron count. But today I passed, my iron was 13.8. Red Cross requires 12.5. I was ecstatic!! Michelle, the lady that assisted me was phenomenal!!! I had no issues after donating. I wouldn't mind coming here again to donate. I gave my business card to the Sports Director, because they said they were hiring.I definitely would not mind working here part time as a Trainer. The gymnasium where we donated the blood was so large 🤣😂 I enjoyed my experience here today.

Have been working out here for 3-4m now.

Positives: The equipment is pretty varied; they have multiples of a lot of things, which goes a long way. Front desk staff are fairly approachable. The cost of membership is reasonable.

Negatives: Parking during peak times can be pretty impossible. Foot traffic is unsustainable at times. Staff standing idle in/around the weight room is pretty commonplace.

Overall, recommend.

It's a really nice gym with great equipment, all else withstanding -- definitely a favorite part of my local routine. Staff does *not* prevent filming, even though it's against the rules, and many people exercise in sweaty socks (no shoes), which is also against the rules. Please stop 'influencers' filming public spaces!! It's expensive, so the high-quality equipment is only fair for the price you're paying. Good diversity of health stations/ activities, but other reviews are right - front reception could be warmer/friendlier.

I love our local YMCA. We're very lucky to have this gem in our backyard. It has multiple gymnasiums, a large cardio & fitness room, indoor track, multiple swimming pools, a hot tub, sauna, and a room for kiddos to hang while you workout. Also offers many group exercise programs throughout the week.

They also offer many school age programs year round, including summer camp. The staff is always friendly and it's very clean here.

I’ve been to this YMCA many times, and unfortunately, I have to say the experience has been disappointing due to the rude receptionists. Every time I’ve interacted with them, they’ve been unhelpful and seem to lack basic customer service skills. It’s really frustrating, especially when you’re trying to get simple information or help.

That being said, the gym itself is actually pretty nice, and the staff in the back are friendly and welcoming. I would recommend the gym, but I really think the manager needs to take a closer look at the reception staff and improve their customer service.

For families that use child watch… You should know that they do not accept nationwide members into their child watch. It wasn’t super clear from Website and talking to staff. Sharing as an FYI, if you have Littles that use Kidzone.

The facilities are very clean and they have a nice kids pool. It can be very crowded so you have to come early to get spots and classes.

The kid zone is well equipped, and I felt my child was safe when we did use it, but I did not find the staff particularly warm.

BE AWARE! I registered my toddler for their swim lessons. I was advised that the membership purchase would be cheaper than if I just paid for the class. True! The person helping me with this told me that they will cancel the membership at the end of the class so that I won't incur future fees and made a note of it. Yeah right!!? They did not! I paid two membership months not knowing that the person hadn't canceled. I hadn't visited the facility as I was under the impression that after the swim class was done, that that was it. I contacted them and the lady over the phone was very unfriendly but I made my case. She sent a request for the manager for the 2 month refund. The email stated that I would know in a week. After 10 days, I had to reach them about it only to know that they refunded for one month only. WHY?? Liars!! That's why. So yes, be aware of this place and its personnel. BTW, my toddler didn't benefit at all from the swim lessons either. DISAPPOINTED in every way!

This facility is very nice clean BUT after over four years of not going due to Covid come to find out that they were still taking my money. After requesting my money back cause they offered to give only 2 months payment not the past four years, my father passed always from Covid and my son never received his vaccination and after catching Covid from a co worker why would I subject my son or my family to Covid. Very racist energy, I am a young black female who comes to this gym because I like the great amount of equipment. I have felt very uncomfortable from the employees, Ive had white male workers stand behind me as I bend over to do my gorilla rows, there is this one lady worker that consistently harasses me about my attire (crocs and lack of shoes while stretching) but never says anything to the young white boys who wear their crocs every session or even the adults that work out in jeans, or the white moms tho do their stretches in their socks and put their shoes on after their stretch. Fair is fair and right is right so if we are going to enforce any rules let’s enforce them to every single person.

Horrible experience with billing:
I had to put my membership on hold since I was unable to go to the gym for some time. I got confirmation from customer service that my membership was put on hold but was still falsely charged for the next month.

I tried to get the issue resolved with the YMCA Haverford multiple times with in person and email communication. I was promised a refund every time but never received it (including from the facilities manager).

After almost a month of waiting I finally gave up and decided to fully cancel my membership. After successfully cancelling, I spotted a new charge on my account the next business day.

In total I have wasted multiple hours on getting this simple issue resolved. I cannot recommend this gym.

Very disappointed to learn that to join the Haverford YMCA you need to have a smartphone. You can only use their app now to check in as they are doing away with the cards even for children. I was told everything is digital now and they weren't making any exceptions even for children or the elderly. I think this is really unacceptable. I'm not sure if this is every YMCA location or just Haverford location but don't bother trying to join if you don't use apps.
