I had such a wonderful experience here. My teacher, her name is Tina, was absolutely amazing and helped me throughout the class. I personally love the atmosphere here and the bathrooms are so clean. I’ll definitely become a regular (I hope) 🥰🥰🥰. I haven’t done Pilates, but I did their hot yoga class and it was great.

This studio offers a solid range of hot yoga and Pilates classes. The standout is definitely the Friday + Weds night Pilates Happy Hour a great workout for just $12.
That said, the facility itself is on the smaller side, with no natural light and a dated interior. The heated classes can feel quite stuffy, especially when they’re crowded, and the close proximity to your neighbor may not be ideal for everyone.
I do find it very uncomfortable and distracting when some male participants choose to practice in just their underwear — a policy or dress code would go a long way toward maintaining a more respectful environment.

I live in the neighborhood and have been here a number of times. The quality of classes is good, although it feels a bit cliquey and exclusive for outsiders. What became the game-over for me was when, during a class, I sensed development of a heat induced asthma attack and put my hands on my hips while standing and awaiting instructions on the next pose in the standing series. After instructions given, there was a “gentle reminder” to the class to not put hands on hips; the teacher then told a story how she was told by her teacher this pose was a sign of disrespect. At that point, I quietly lowered my arms to my sides, but then had to leave the room because I could not breathe. This is actually a physiologic and somewhat reflexive maneuver to increase oxygenation by opening up the airways, not anything more. Didn’t appreciate what felt like a passive aggressive call out or scolding during a class when I was in distress.

I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy the Pilates classes with Maddy and Marie!
Maddy brings such a fun and structured vibe to every session, making sure you're working hard while still having a blast. Her music playlist is always spot-on, keeping us energized and motivated.
Marie, on the other hand, brings a perfect mix of professionalism and fun to her classes, and her enthusiasm is truly infectious. Her music choices are equally amazing, setting the perfect tone for a dynamic workout. Both Maddy and Marie make Pilates a highlight of my week, and I always leave their classes feeling empowered, inspired, and high on endorphins!
On a side note, I've also had an incredible experience taking hot yoga with Mia, Rob Cancel, and Kaitlin. Their classes are the perfect complement to my Pilates practice at Hot Yoga Philadelphia! :))

I switched to Bikram from vinyasa as a NewYears resolution in Jan of 2022. Never experienced such a great work out that fuels the body rather than depletes it. At first, it was challenging to stay in the room. But the more you go, the easier it is. The greatest benefit is for my mental/emotional health. This series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises drops you into your mind/body connection like nothing else. Truly, a moving meditation to build strength at all levels - mind, heart, body. The community here is warm and beautiful, the teachers are TOPS.

I am middle-aged, overweight and hadn’t been to a Bikram (hot Hatha yoga) class in over 10 years. I was nervous, embarrassed by my appearance and lack of flexibility and strength, but everyone was welcoming and helpful and put me right at ease. I’ve been going regularly for a few weeks now and already feel a gazillion times better about myself and feel that my health goals are now attainable.
I am a software engineer and usually spend 14+ hours a day at my computer. I could barely move when I started. The instructors are supportive, they always help modify the positions as needed and give me encouragement to keep going.
I have been to other Hot yoga studios in the past, but Hot Yoga Philly is a cut above the rest IMHO. I’ve already lost 10 pounds and am excited for the rest of the journey. I’ve been trying to go every day because it helps all of my aches and pains - it’s not just about weight. It frames what I eat if I am going to class, my water intake, gets me away for the computer, etc.
I’ll report back in a few months!

If you are looking for the traditional 26+2 in Philadelphia, this is your place! Kind staff, clean facilities, multiple class options during the day (they also always offer at least one 90 every day if that is what you are itching for).
Community type feel here and fair pricing. Glad I found this spot!

The instructor was pleasant and helpful when I was stuck on a pose, for my first experience here I kept up with the class as I do yoga myself. My busy schedule as a student doesn’t allow me to commit. However, my experience with the overall environment wasn’t welcoming. It was short, and rather odd interaction from the front desk, I’m assuming are instructors by the website. Comments about my appearance that I look “too nice” insinuating that this most be my first class, if I know what hot yoga is was inappropriate micro aggression . I’m not saying to kiss up but to engage with the customer before and after would be nice especially if they’re not a regular. Not just for POC ( there goes race again, but you’re in Philly…..) to feel a sense of inclusion in spaces. I’m not sure if they thought I was here to be an influencer or photo op but I came there to challenge my body. Although side conversations lead on between another client while I sat there getting ready to leave not one asked for feedback on my experience. I wouldn’t go here again.

You swore you would never, ever go back there.
But ... your old ex really does deserve a second chance.
They might have greatly improved themselves just like the Hot Yoga Philadelphia studio on Sansom has done from several years ago!
Over the last week I have been astonished by how much friendlier and personable this studio has become from some visits I made several years ago.
I feel emotionally "seen", which I didn't feel in a lot of CorePower classes around the corner and at a YogaSix sample class, and at some classes long ago in this studio, especially when teachers would silently demo the poses up on the podium / dais.
Teachers now give a lot of helpful and insightful cues, learn students' names, and make gentle verbal corrections to them in class. In the last week I have really enjoyed my classes with Kaitlin McCoale, Mia Gitzes, and Chris Fluck. Gosh, I feel internally like I'm gushing. But I even telephoned my 81-year-old mom a couple of nights ago to let her know that I'm finally happy, something I rarely do. Over the years she is always like, "I hope you are happy!" but I would say, "No, I'm just content."
But I called her up out of the blue two nights ago to let her know that I'm happy, which made her very happy. And this studio over the last week made that happen.
And I had a wonderful interaction tonight after Chris Flick's class with Byron, who was very kind and unassuming - hmmm, an intern maybe? a work-study student? - and he turned out to be one of the new owners. It is that type of place, just like in "How Stella Got Her Groove Back."
The locker rooms have been remodeled, and you can leave your mat there so you don't have to lug it from home and back.

I've been going to Hot Yoga Philadelphia (Bikram) for 7+ years. The time has come to share the meditations on the experience. In short: it is about the teachers. The facility is fine. But: you can get into a class with an amazing, dedicated, nice, and intelligent teacher. Or, you can be with an arrogant or knowledge-less human - not because they are bad, just because they don’t know. Elaboration;
1. Infrastructure: the facility is clean, organized, and has all you need for an excellent hot yoga class. It’s hot, humidified, and cozy. There are showers.
2. Schedule: sufficient amount of classes and well-diverse time frames.
3. Class type: there is no diversity: the same postures over and over again. It would be nice if the (hot) facility would be used for deep stretching classes.
4. Prices: it is expensive. It will be nice to make it more affordable.
6. Teachers: there is a great diversity of teachers. They are very different from one another:
1. Counting the breaths: 20% know very well how to count, and to me, those are the best teachers (usually, if the teacher is good at counting, he will be good in all the other details of a great yoga class). I love this place with the teachers that actually know what they do, and it starts with counting breaths. 80% of the teachers do not know how to count, not breaths or seconds. In general, the whole point of Yoga is balance and attention to the flawless effort to execute the posture. Breathing is the most important part of it. And it is a shame that most of the teachers suck at counting. Example: one leg, they do 4 breaths, the other 20 breaths. On one side, they do 18 breaths, the other 6. God knows how they come up with those counting. Another example is when there are Asanas that you do not want to overdo in length and others where you do want to stay more (like end-of-class deep stretching). But because they (80% of teachers) messed up the count in the. Beginning and middle of the class: there is no time for the balanced count at the end.
2. Attention to students: there were times when they had excellent teachers (the elder ones usually and some others with good experience, the dedicated teachers). Nowadays, 80% are parrots-like, and 20% are amazing. The parrots talk and talk, sometimes about yoga and sometimes about themselves. The parrots who talk fast are the worst; because they disturb the focus and bring no meaningful insight to the class, and 10-40 students can not all do the same as they say, and in those cases, the teacher talks out of their mind and not of what they see. The worst teachers raise their voices, and the best one keeps it calm and to the level where the message is delivered with no disturbance. The best teachers talk slowly and to the point. They point out to each student what to improve, where to push, a where to relax. The best teachers see every part of a student’s body, every muscle and every breath: and correct the student to make him better.
3. Attention to asanas: each Asan has an objective. The best teachers know the objectives because they lived through it and know how to come, for example, from trauma to full healing with yoga. The parrots know how to memorize and sing Bikram’s words. And that’s the defense: either you know what you do, either you think you know what you do. Usually, teachers’ bodies will show true knowledge. Either you practice with results, other not. Here it is more than 50%-50%: half know what they do, and half think they know what they do. If you go there a lot: you just do you. If you bring friends or you want to grow: attention is a must. Then pick your teacher with attention, and get the attention you need.
4. Ego management: it is funny (when it is naive), and sad (when it is obsessive and messing up the class). For example; subjective personal non-related stories, like business, storied: do not help the class. Best teachers select suitable music for class, go with eh flow, and share the right story to help a specific observation in class.
Verdict: I like & go there a lot. Thank you

Wanting to keep up our yoga practice while away from our home studio (Hot Yoga Vancouver, WA), my husband and I were delighted to come across and practice a 90-minute 26&2 at Hot Yoga Philadelphia this morning.
The studio is very clean with great amenities, including but not limited to: mat and towel rentals, lovely changing rooms with lockers, clean showers, and water bottle filing station.
The room was very hot and clean -- just they way we want it for a 26&2. We really dug the hardwood floors and appreciated the huge mirrored wall. The room's heaters and lighting were awesome!
Our instructor, Rob Cancel, is a wonderful teacher. Rob made us feel very welcomed, and offered personal adjustments during practice -- "Bring your chin down, Kate", "Relax your shoulders, Cody" -- for which we are very grateful. I also want to complement Rob's impeccable timing and rythem. We didn't hang out in any posture (pose) for too long or too short; all postures were just right. We would 100% take another of Rob's classes at HYP.
Parking is available across the street for a hefty price. The chaps who work the garage are super nice

OMG, I had such an AMAZING experience at Hot Yoga Philly. Colleen made me feel immediately at ease. She provided me a Thai Massage, Abyhanga (oil massage) Shirodhara (oil pouring). It was so healing, peaceful and invigorating. She gave me some great pointers to enhance my experience. She was also sensitive to my requests and very accommodating. Hellooo hot yoga philadelphia!!! Visiting cold philly from hot miami beach, I decided to get some heat from this yoga studio.
After a few calls I took a 10 am class. My heavy metal teacher was chris. Not too pushy but great. One hour non stopping class. The room was not as hot as I expected but enough to sweat and clean my mind and body for a while.
The studio is hidden in the entrance of a shoe store. It has two floors upstairs... Free mat and towel. Locker room and showers.
Thanks chris and hot yoga philly.
See yall in my next trip!!

Amazing and new hot yoga experience for me at this yoga studio in downtown Philadelphia. This yoga studio takes hot yoga to the next level with repetition in flows which results in an excellent stretch for hips, back, and chest.
I enjoyed the practice with Joel Pier,2$9 seems to be a yoga veteran! Can’t wait to take another class with him.
I also noticed that Hot Yoga partners with local entrepreneurs in the city. In the lobby where stations of entrepreneurs selling their new products, which I love!

Seemed nice from website. Got caught in Philly traffic which made me 10 mins late. Tried calling and tried sending an email. Took expensive Uber to get there only to have no one at front desk (explains no one answering). Instructor was nice enough to peek out and tell me I couldn't attend the class due to it being packed (even though I signed up). Frustrated bc I could have signed up somewhere else but I was already in the Uber. Community places tend to lack a thorough staff experience. Unfortunately no refunds on their class passes. I'll give mine away for Christmas.

What a really great place. The vibe is excellent, the staff is welcoming, the instruction was flawless (and punctual!), and the hot room was top notch. I very highly recommend this place!
My only minor observation is that the rental towels only cover about 2/3 of the mat. I think it'd be an improvement to rent yoga towels that completely cover the mat. Other than this, everything was really excellent.

So this is fine in terms of the structure and lay out of the studio, but if you're looking for warmth, kindness, and compassion... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Specifically the woman at the front desk, I think her name was Kate. I saw her being horribly rude to some yogis who apparently owed money, and then was rude to someone who I think was staff. She was very condescending and spoke down to her... It was so bad I almost got involved.
Honestly I really hope the owner of this studio sees this review and does something about it because I will NOT support an organization that treats their employees like this.

If you have done Bikram-
I wish that the instructors added more flare and gave more corrections. Some are great, but for the most part I felt that they didn't come around and give meaningful corrections. Or sometimes they'd talk so much during a balancing pose that I couldn't focus. However, since you've practiced before, this studio is centrally located, and there are many times (such a plus for people with busy schedules!)
If you are new to Bikram like I was-
JUST BE ADVENTUROUS AND TRY IT. Your first class should be with Justin or Thayne! It's hippie-ish, strenuous, and you're sweating like a mofo, but your mind is so clear after. Unlike any other workout! It wasn't AS HOT as I thought it would be and the 90 minutes goes by really quickly. But be sure to couple yoga with other things like weight training, running, if you're trying to lose weight.
Clothing-most women wear yoga capris and sports bra. most guys wear bball shorts. I never felt conscious without a shirt on, people are just doing their thang which is nice. In general, I felt like it wasn't a competition like sometimes group classes can seem like. I would say the classes are 70/30 women/men and 50/50 for the instructors.
What to bring-Towel for your sweat and towel on top of your mat and a large cold water bottle. Mats are there, but I liked to bring my own.
What I didn't like-people in the dressing rooms were always naked! Yes, this sounds obvious, but there are hundreds of tricks to changing without being butt naked. Like cmonnnn I don't wanna see certain things. Again, I do wish that the instructors were more interactive so I would get better at the moves or not injure myself. As Laura G. pointed out, I would have stayed at home and watched a video.
I got the amazing deal online, and unfortunately, the pricing is just tooo expensive for me. I am considering the student 10 class pass for the times that I feel like I could use a mentally soothing and physically demanding day!
**Also such a pet peeve that some of these instructors are trying to be all Hindu/Indian (I'm both) but they had an idol of God on top of the shoe rack which is very taboo and can't pronounce Namaste. It's num-as-tay not naam-as-tay people!!**

I love the place and I love the experience of Bikram.
I do find some staff members funny: when I accidentally found out that they charged 1 extra lesson on my card out of blue, I kindly requested them to correct it, which they hesitated to, which is understandable, since they showed this great distrust on their faces as if I was a cheater. After some waiting, they confirmed that the problem was solved. OK. Note that I just paid about 1000 dollars for their class cards and they knew. Then, after shower, I thought I better asked them to investigate a bit on this to prevent future errors since I would never be able to keep track of it myself. The answer I got from the same person was, "let me check, well, I didn't touch anything on your card, and you were right that you didn't come to this extra class, but nothing was charged to your card on this lesson." I got fully confused. Then she added, "you just need to keep an eye on it yourself." From beginning till the end, i didn't get any sorry, and they asked me to keep an eye on potential errors on their side which they didn't manage/try to find out. Weird logic. Very unfriendly staff, some of them! Rest assured, the teachers are all super qualified and wonderful.
