Coming to Hotworx has been a great outlet for me to relieve stress and help me reach my health goals. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. I just started at Hotworx a month and a half ago and I love it! I always struggled to find motivation to workout and was looking for something new and different, this was exactly that. As someone with a desk job, working out in the saunas has helped a lot with stiffness, stress and my flexibility in just a short amount of time. I joined HOTWORX almost 2 months ago. I thought I would add it into my workouts 3 times a week. Well it turns out, I love it so much, that I am going 6 days a week. Back in December, I volunteered both nights with the New Britain Township Santa House, which was in the parking lot of the New Britain Village Square shopping center. HotWorx had a table set up in the parking lot pre-opening, and I talked to the owners. Although they were very pleasant, I was skeptical about heated/high temperature exercise. Would I faint? Was it just a gimmick?

I saw HotWorx later at a table as a sponsor for the Boogie Down the Bypass in April (for the Fire Department of Montgomery Township) and yet again at the Greater Peace Valley Walk/Run in May (for Bucks County Parks and Recreation). By that point, I figured “third time’s the charm”.

Normally, there is a three-day grace period, during which you can have your registration refunded. However, I arranged for my “onboarding” to be over Memorial Day weekend, which stretched out my grace period to five days. I tried a different class each day.

I am an attorney in real life and spend most of my days sitting at a desk. Accordingly, my lower body is always the most in need of a workout. Consequently, my favorite classes are “Hot Barre None” and “Hot Buns.” (The name of the latter class also makes me laugh, because sometimes I have the sense of humor of a ten-year-old.) I was also told today that HotWorx is planning on introducing a new class called Hot Stretch, which sounds like something else I could use.

Additionally, given my busy schedule, I like that it is a 24-hour “gym” where I can go at 6:00 A.M., even on a Saturday or Sunday. Plus, it is open on holidays.

As for this particular studio, it is always very clean. It is vacuumed regularly – I think multiple times per day – which is important, since majority of the workouts require you to be barefoot. The owner, Jay, and the two employees, Lora and Sean, know my name, which is important from a small business. There is also a vending machine, well-stocked with healthy options, and a water fountain with a filter.

However, the one thing that give me pause about HotWorx is the price. I worry that I am not using it enough to justify the $49 per month – and that was the lower “introductory” price that I received for signing up early. As I mentioned above, I am an attorney and can be busy even at night, so I normally only use the location two or three times per week, albeit that I often do two or three sessions back-to-back. It is not enough for me to take away a star from this review, but, given the cost, especially compared to a lot of gyms that are only $10 - $29 per month, you may want to put some serious thought into it before you join.

Nice-sized 24/7 boutique gym with friendly staff. Clean, not crowded, and there's a variety of workouts to choose from. The virtual instructors are great so you don't have to pre-plan your workout ahead of time and they provide modifications. Just schedule which session you want and show up. You must download the app and purchase a Hotworx mat and towel but worth it.
